New California Law Imposes Court Process for Confiscating Guns

Long a pioneer in gun confiscation, California lawmakers have developed a brand-new way of ensuring “dangerous” felons relinquish their firearms.

As part of Proposition 63, those convicted of crimes that prohibit firearm ownership will be required to provide proof that they have surrendered those firearms to local law enforcement or a licensed firearm dealer.

The move, according to the Los Angeles Times, is designed to reduce the backlog in California’s Armed and Prohibited Persons System (APPS). Which currently includes the names of over 10,000 residents of the Golden State.

Whereas most states are content to wait until a prohibited person is caught with a firearm, California’s approach is much more proactive. The California Department of Justice cross-references known firearm owners with individuals who have been convicted of felonies, deemed mentally unstable, or given domestic violence restraining orders.

All such individuals are placed on the APPS list.  That allows a special gun confiscation unit to visit those people and ensure that they relinquish their firearms.

Confiscating firearms is never safe or cheap. California lawmakers infused the APPS program with $24 million in 2013. And agents cut the number of people on the list from 20,721 people in mid-2013 to 10,634 in 2016.

Now that grant money has run out. While agents have managed to keep the number around 10,000, lawmakers worry about maintaining such a large backlog. Proposition 63 will help in the future. But it cannot reduce the number of people who own guns but have already been convicted and sentenced.

The system is also ripe for abuse, as numerous gun-rights proponents have noted.

Craig DeLuz, a spokesman for the Firearms Policy Coalition, told the LA Times lifted restraining orders are not always reflected in the database.

“When the information is inaccurate, you potentially put people at risk because you have the attorney general’s office sending armed SWAT teams to people’s homes to confiscate firearms,” DeLuz said.

As the NRA’s lawyers point out in this memorandum, individuals are often not aware that they cannot own firearms until the police come knocking. And many of them are first-time offenders convicted of non-violent charges.

The broken nature of the system, however, hasn’t stopped California politicians from promoting it for their own personal gain. Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is running for governor, recently released a campaign ad threatening the “dangerous criminals” on the APPS list:

“If you are a dangerous criminal, we really are coming for your guns,” he said.

The new law took effect on January 1.

But if your an armed illegal alien living in any of the sanctuary cities ol California you get a pass right? right?

    • John January 29, 2018, 1:32 pm

If you are an illegal alien in a sanctuary City they may provide you with a gun from a law officer to shoot a tourist.

  • Dilligaf January 27, 2018, 7:16 pm

That commiefornia for you and the idiots there keep electing the same idiots that make law like this

    • William Norris January 28, 2018, 10:20 am

This will do nothing, they can only come and get guns that are registered that they know about, if you have a unregistered gun your good to go! More stupid laws by stupid people!

I am a Conservative living in Kalifornia for over 70 years (except for several years of Army service spent in Korea). Kali politicians are without a doubt the biggest joke on the planet! Get this…one of our geniuses just wrote a bill (hasn’t passed…YET) that would put a waiter/waitress in prison for 6 months IF he/she served a drink with a “single use” STRAW without being asked for it by the customer! go back and read that again!
When it comes to gun control…you’d think that kindergarten children were writing the laws. They banned magazines with a capacity over 10 rounds and one of our brightest commented that “what’s the issue here?…once they fire all the bullets (in the magazine) they are useless! She didn’t know that magazines could be reloaded.
But the Democrat who wins the prize for being the biggest jackass of all time is Hank Johnson, representative from Guam who while questioning a Navy Admiral wondered out loud if the island might “tip over” if the Navy build another base one one side of the island. Obviously ol’ Hank is unaware that islands are attached to the ocean floor! The Admiral deserves a special award for restraint.

Years ago in a desert town in Calif. I was visiting and having a radiator repaired on one of my old cars at a small shop, the owner said go have lunch and it will be finished when you are done. As I was driving back in heavy traffic a kid stepped in front of my car and began firing a small chrome 22 at another guy across the street, the other guy reached for his gun in his waist band and his 45 went off hitting one of his toes, during all this I couldn’t move because of the heavy traffic, I just sat there as the kids ejected brass bounced off the hood of my car, I reached for my gun, but it wasn’t there, I cant carry there as a non-resident. The kid ran down the street and threw his gun on the roof of a building, the other guy threw his gun under the seat of a car parked nearby, I reported this to the Police when they showed up and they said they couldn’t do anything without a warrant, blah, blah, legalese, etc. keep in mind this happened at the busiest time of day for all these businesses, women pushing baby carriages, how they didn’t hit anyone else with approximately 25 rounds fired still amazes me. Thats why they call it criminal justice.

  • John January 26, 2018, 3:04 pm

Gun owners are not dangerous criminals, they are patriots upholding the Constitution.

    • Doc Loch January 26, 2018, 11:57 pm

Indeed, and a further simple question here follows from the statement in the article “they cross-reference with a list of KNOWN FIREARMS OWNERS” How is it again that there is a list of “known firearms owners.” I thought that this was vehemently denied, and now they are admitting that they have a list of all who own firearms? Yeah, I thought conspiracy theories were for kooks. NOT ANY MORE!

      • Mark N. January 28, 2018, 6:55 pm

You are misinformed. The federal government is prohibited from maintaining a list, but state governments are not. In California, there has been handgun registration for decades, long gun registration since 1/1/14. The list is kept by the California DOJ, which receives a copy of the Dealer’s Record of Sale (DROS) every time a gun is purchased. So obviously the list is not complete. Further, the list is not completely accurate, since it does not cross-reference sales of used guns 9which also go through DROS) to eliminate guns you’ve bought but sold, and just as obviously, it keeps you as a registered owner of all guns sold out of state. There is a way to get yourself off the ownership record for sold guns, but few actually do so. Because of this, the DOJ record of ownership alone is not sufficient evidence for the issuance of a warrant. Typically, the DOJ confiscation squad asks reputed owners to turn in their guns/allow searches. Last but not least, statistics appear to indicate that the task force goes after people involuntarily committed to a mental instituiton first, since they are usually less prone to violence.

California is becoming one of the least safe Sates to live in. Crime is rampant and unchecked. It is all due to the communistic attitude of the politicians and the never ending flow of illegal immigrants. I will never again set foot in California nor knowingly do business there. That includes the shady online sales that have home bases from there also.

    • Chris January 26, 2018, 8:45 pm

In truth, Kalifornia should not only be allowed, it should be encouraged to secede from the Union… I don’t really consider them to even be a part of America anymore.

I personally feel Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is a personal disgrace who should never be elected governor of California.

  • John Ferretti January 26, 2018, 12:25 pm

If you politicians think criminals buy guns legally, then your dumber than u look. You may take the gun they gave at that moment. But can go out and buy another before the police get back to the station. Get real quit going after law biding citizens. Go after the criminals.

  • Bobs yer uncle January 26, 2018, 12:06 pm

This appears to be an arms confiscation training program, a how to, after all who could be apposed to dangerous criminals being disarmed? Wheres due process? Would’t this be a good way to train for total confiscation? By the way you missed some of the gang members guns.

Can anyone define Domestic Enemy to me??????????????????????????????????????????????????????when does our right to rid ourselves of such begin??

      • JoeUSooner January 26, 2018, 7:27 pm

That definition actually seems particularly simple. Any (and all) liberal Leftists who advocate unilaterally changing this nation from a Constitutional Republic into a Socialist Regime… qualify in every aspect (social, legal, moral, intellectual) as a “domestic enemy” of the United States.

  • mauser6863 January 26, 2018, 12:00 pm

God, where to start, California just keeps getting further off the reservation. How many more people are going to have to actually die, before this insane behavior stops?

First off, I agree that if you, “Do the Crime and Serve your Time”, you should automatically have all your Civil Rights Restored. Does that mean you can become a Cop or Work at a Children’s Day Care, I’d say “NO”, as these are areas of employment it would be reasonable to exclude you from, based on the prior acts you have committed.

However, does that mean that the State can deny you the Right to Vote, The Right of Free Speech/Assembly/Travel and/or the Right to Bear Arms and all the other Rights Guaranteed by the Constitution, I say, “NO”. Clearly the law passed by Congress, Known as the 1968 Gun Control Act, got it wrong and has trampled upon people’s rights, sending many back to prison. If you are still a danger to society, you should stay locked-up, however if we release you, you should get a clean slate and a chance to start over and become a productive member of society.

So now the State is going to send Armed Teams of Paramilitary Troops to people’s homes, to what, “Kick in the doors”, have conversations, arrest them, kill them if they “move wrong” or “appear to be doing something” that could/maybe/might, endanger “officer safety”. Does a Judge even need to issue a warrant or is being on “The List” probable cause in itself??? What third world “Shit Hole” are we talking about here??? Clearly a Federal Injunction is needed here? Where is the Justice Department, The NRA or The ACLU for that matter???

What sort of process is there here? Do they get the 3 government letters telling them they are “On the List”, with the third letter telling them a bench warrant has been issued for their arrest? Do they have their drivers’ license and all their professional licenses suspended, tax refunds and food stamps withheld, notices issued to their parole officers, like in a child support case? Or are we just going straight to the armed teams kicking in doors and putting people’s lives at risk for political gain?

I live in Arizona and my neighbor was arrested in a child custody case many years ago. He was never prosecuted and has sole custody of his daughter. He attempted to purchase a gun and was denied, as the charge, although never prosecuted, is still in the system, even a decade later. He has to file papers with the court and send it to the FBI, so he can have his ability to buy a firearm restored. Luckily, he doesn’t live in California, otherwise his life may be at risk, maybe not, who knows.

Civil Rights need to be Guaranteed for all Americans. The Federal Government has a responsibility under the Constitution to guarantee that each state has a republican (small “r”) form of government. California is changing into something else, with the new One Party State Election Rules, Registering Aliens to Vote and now persecuting free citizens because of their names being on an administrative list.

I realize that sympathy and standing up for the rights of convicted felons and wife beaters, etc. isn’t a politically popular thing to do, but it is the right thing to do. People who have made mistakes, been punished and set free, deserve to be free and not live with a literal target on their backs for the rest of their lives. Civil Rights are for all Americans, otherwise they are truly meaningless.

    • Rick January 26, 2018, 12:12 pm

“should get a clean slate and a chance to start over and become a productive member of society”. I say after 5 years of good behavior…..

      • John January 26, 2018, 1:47 pm

I’m with you, depending on the crime. I have family member who, many years ago, got felony conviction for pot possession. Back when a fairly small amount was a felony. No jail time served, but still lost 2nd Amendment rights. I think maybe violent offenders get some extra monitoring time, but non-violent should have all rights restored, or never taken in the first place.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out when swat goes to the wrong address, and a bunch of cops get shot. Or even when they go to the right address, and the gun owner decides not to comply. By the way, how do they know who has firearms?
Anyone who can leave Ca, should.

    • bobh January 26, 2018, 2:03 pm

Should a convicted felon who has served his sentence without incident (no disciplinary action for fighting, possessing contraband, assaulting COs, etc) have his right to vote restored? Absolutely. Should his right to possess firearms be reinstated? Absolutely not. Do we really want someone convicted of armed robbery, aggravated battery, distribution of a controlled substance, etcetera to be able to walk into a gun store and buy a firearm? In any State I’m aware of for a person to be convicted and actually serve prison time either the crime was particularly egregious or that offender has multiple priors.
Mauser 6863’s absolutist position is that all rights should be restored to someone who has “done their time”. Absolutist positions are seldom correct. For instance, one right even more basic than the right to bear arms is the right to freely associate with anyone one chooses. Would he defend the right of a serial rapist to associate with his daughter, sister, or wife?

  • JoshO January 26, 2018, 11:14 am

California is such a beautiful place…it’s too bad that it’s full of Californians.

    • DaveW January 26, 2018, 1:41 pm

As a native, 4th generation conservative Californian, I resent that remark. Yes we have a problem with the progressive commies in all three branches of government, however, the state has a large number of conservatives who would turn the state around if we had the numbers. Most of the liberal faction has only been here for one or two generations. They came here for the freebies (we had free college through the state college system).

I live in a rural county. Most such counties are conservative leaning. My sheriff freely issues CCWs. The county rejected even considering a vote to be a sanctuary county. Even some of our liberal neighbors like their firearms. This is typical of rural California, which accounts for 96% of the land mass. The other 4% is locked up in the major metropolitan zones (LA, San Diego, SF Bay Area, Sacramento) and they are predominantly liberal progressive Democrats.

Many of us, particularly through the NRA/ILA and organizations like the CRPA (CA Rifle and Pistol Assoc.), as well as Guns of America (GOA) and others. There are presently a number of law suits in progress, and they have gained support from quite a few other states Atty Gens filing briefs against the state laws. Additionally, a number of law enforcement agencies have publicly rejected the draconian actions of the state. Unfortunately, we have people like Gov Brown who do what they want and essentially say that if th people don’t like it, they can leave.

All of the public servants in the state take essentially the same oath of office, “to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and the State of California against all enemies foreign and domestic”. By their tyrannical actions, they have broken their oaths of office and are, therefore, criminals themselves. We are hoping that the USDOJ will investigate and bring charges against our governor and his gang.

California Communists are going after guns, but seemingly have no compunction about letting illegal alien criminals run loose to murder, rape, and rob the residents of CA, LEGAL or ILLEGAL!
Time for the Federal Government to ENFORCE the Constitution on California by arresting the violating politicians and authorities!

      Never forget Kate Stenle!

  • Charlie January 26, 2018, 10:54 am

I think this has happened in many places in the world as well as in the USA. History has shown that the people rose up to reject the radical socialistic laws. Gun ownership is an American freedom right and always will be . The political leaches will not overcome individual rights. California must remove these idiots from their system if they wont to keep their liberties. Vote them out!

    • DaveW January 26, 2018, 1:44 pm

You can’t vote them out when the majority of voters are supporters.

CA’s latest is that drivers licenses must be issued to illegals. Under the law, anyone who has a drivers license will be registered to vote. Which means all the illegals will soon vote for progressives.

  • Mahatma Muhjesbude January 26, 2018, 10:47 am

The Liberty loving PEOPLE of Pornifornia (are there any left?) should just as subjectively ‘deem’ this fucking poisonous snake Lt Guv to be a ‘Dangerous Political Totalitarian Criminal’ by the same subjective criteria he seems to be using to apply the term ‘dangerous’ to people not bothering anybody and abiding by the law, when they go forth to vote for governor next time? Essentially he is intentionally committing the conspiracy to directly put innocent persons in great bodily harm’s way with this patently evil due process and civil rights violation. The more you think about it, the more This criminal politician should be impeached?
Where’s the NRA on this? My life’s membership dues are already wasted on lack of momentum on other issues, now they are being shit on!

    • DaveW January 26, 2018, 1:54 pm

He, and the rest are intentionally passing legislation designed to violate the 2nd Amendment rights of US Citizens while sucking up to illegals for future votes. Denying people their rights by regulating gun shops out of cities (as SF has already done), and similar acts, is a criminal act in and of itself.

CA now prohibits buying ammo across the state line without going through an FFL holder. If you own certain firearms, when you die, you can not pass them on to your descendants. They must a) turn them in, b) move them out of the state, or c) render them permanently inoperable. The same kinds of actions are being instituted in other states.

They have messed CA up so badly that it is illegal to misidentify (verbal or written) an individual as to their sex.

Who decides who is mentally unstable? The Oboma administration declared veterans terrorist, what is to keep these loons from declaring anyone with firearm training as unstable because of an interest in firearms. Or, declare anyone not agreeing with their ideas as unstable. Such as: abortion is murder, there is no peer reviewed scientific study or discovery supporting homosexuality as something you are born with, transgender individuals are mentally ill, in 400,000 years of ice core evidence changes in CO2 levels have never preceded earth’s temperature change (Google: 400,000 years, global temperature, CO2, 800 year lag), or diversity based on gender, race, sexual orientation, or etc. is required for anything and is to be mandatory.

    • Mahatma Muhjesbude January 26, 2018, 10:26 am

Nothing is stopping them, Michael. And it already IS happening. We should be stopping them, however, before it’s too late. The ’68 GCA was the precursor to all this totalitarian creep, and now well established and poised for the final blow against liberty. I predicted this years ago to deaf ears.

The ex convict gun prohibition of the unconstitutional laws (the Constitution Never said anything about infringing your gun rights just because you committed mistakes and did past crimes? Because they fucking well knew that a tyrannical government could insidiously use that to eventually effectively disarm a populate without even having a civil war simply by making target focused laws to which gun prohibition applies. (which are direct first line tools of insurrection and opposition as opposed to all other deadly weapons like knives and vehicles and fire) Which is exactly what this ‘test’ case above is.

Which by the way, They are already well on their way to making everybody they can a criminal subject to gun prohibition, thus opening this nefarious door to Nazi tactics. Check out the best seller Battlefield America by Constitutional Attorney and gun rights activist John Whitehead of the Rutherford institute. Where he examines how the police state has already created an environment where most of the population breaks some kind of state or federal law at least once a week!!!
Refine that a little more where your psychological mental state becomes a factor to not ‘allow’ law abiding citizens with psychological or abnormal emotional content and even outspoken anti-g political dissidents (we all know somebody like that)
none of which is actually against the law according to our Bill of Rights, and what do you have? A nation of criminals as described in an article by George Will a while back.
And don’t be stupid by making comments like , MOLEN LABE or they’ll never pull it off, etc.etc. THEY’RE ALREADY PULLING IT OFF AS YOU JUST READ ABOVE! And they’ll never stop! It EASY Fucking PEASY with all the anti-4thA surveillance and data collection states we live in now?

The only way we’ll EVER guarantee that they can never confiscate out firearms is to repeal and End their ability to make gun prohibition a permanent consequence of commiting a crime. I think by now, and with the implication of enacting tactics described above in the article, the evidence is clear that gun prohibition for free citizens who happen to be ex-cons doesn’t work, never has and never will if they want to ignore the mandate. It only acts as the totalitarian government’s ‘Legal ploy’ to eventually run ‘illegal’ anti-constitutional Swat Sweeps to eventually disarm free American Citizens who finally wake up to what’s really going on.
But since this Marxist Totalitarian plan was in the ‘works’ for generations, Don’t you all think it’s time that we woke up and repealed this bullshit…like Yesterday???

  • Chaz January 26, 2018, 8:16 am

But yet they let the ILLEGAL immigrant get off completely free for murdering Kate Steinle.
Build that wall around California too, and let them illegals and liberals have there own “closed” society. And the rest of us sane red blooded Americans could enjoy our USA much more being Californian free.

  • BB January 26, 2018, 8:03 am

And here I thought it was Obama who was supposed to start gun confiscations. Just like with civil forfeitures, they start with the “criminals” and next thing you know it’s your shit they’re stealing and your rights are taken. Making America Great Again Violating one amendment at a time. Well, one for now.

  • joefoam January 26, 2018, 7:36 am

And how do you get on the list of known gun owners in the first place? Since is has been proposed that there is no gun registry, it appears like the State of California has one.

    • Pete Ostergard January 26, 2018, 4:02 pm

      Damn right they do!

  • redmanrt January 26, 2018, 7:30 am

Is CA going to outlaw 6 inch PVC pipe too?

    • Rouge1 January 26, 2018, 10:38 am

They also want to outlaw drinking straws. Servers in restaurants could go to jail if they give you a straw without you requesting it. And I’m suppose to believe leftist are the smart ones.

  • srsquidizen January 26, 2018, 7:27 am

IF other states got away with simply ignoring the Constitution the way California blatantly violates 2nd Amendment rights, we would still have public witch burnings in Mass. and online slave auctions in Alabama. It will probably require an innocent person being killed because of a mistake (like happened in a recent “swatting” hoax) before libtards out there realize sending SWAT teams out to private homes, just to forcibly collect guns that may or may not even be there, is an incredibly stupid idea.

    • Mahatma Muhjesbude January 26, 2018, 10:31 am

It’s a Criminal idea. And every one of those anti-4thA 80 thousand Psycho Swat raids every year whose dumbshit gestapo jackboots ‘accidently’ on purpose hurt somebody needlessly, SHOULD HAVE THEIR FUCKING GUNS CONFISCATED FOREVER!

      • Rouge1 January 26, 2018, 10:40 am

They should have their necks stretched as any traitor should.

  • Paul January 26, 2018, 6:26 am

Seems to me that this “war on guns” being waged by law enforcement is a lot like the “war on drugs”; a complete waste of time and money. As a once upon a time law enforcement guy who worked in narcotic investigation, I left the department believing that people who really want something, legal or not, will find a way to get it. To me, the sad reality is the pathetic , deranged liberal politicians who think that laws stop those with criminal intent. Criminals don’t obey the law, so don’t be surprised when your efforts to curtail or stop some dangerous activity don’t work.

    • Rkb January 26, 2018, 7:13 am

      Right on!

    • Robert January 26, 2018, 7:19 am

Another typically stupid liberal response to a problem. If they wanted confiscate weapons from felons, domestic violaters or the mentally unstable then they should have taken them away at the time of their infraction . $ 23 million in 2013 ? The same liberal ilk is bemoaning the presidents boarder wall proposal of $ 25 million in 2018. They have no compunction. Another ludicrous waste of tax payer dollars.

      • BB January 26, 2018, 7:35 am

So, tale them at time of arrest? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? You know, found guilty in a court of law. And here I thought the “stupid liberals” were the ones trying to bypass the constitution.

        • joe January 26, 2018, 11:35 am

The issue is in CA is that at the time of the purchase they were legal to own the weapon. But, CA has put several more infractions on the list that now make you prohibited. So now when you go to the gun store and try to buy a weapon and they do the DOJ background check, they now find you are prohibited from owning a firearm. So, that sends a trigger that a prohibited person is attempting to purchase a firearm. A check is ran on that person to see if any forearms are registered to them, if so, they will send a couple of agents from various departments knocking on your door to see the firearms that you previously legally owned. They will ask you to open your safe, and then since you obviously have access to all those arms and ammo, they will take them. All the time, they have a search warrant in their back pocket just in case you try to resist letting them in….
We, as responsible gun owners, need to do our part in making sure that people do not do bad things with firearms and hurt themselves or others. We need to educated others who have just purchased firearms in the proper use, and safe handling of firearms. The issue in Las Vegas has set us back several years. We were doing so well up until that time.
          Shoot straight and be safe…

      • Doug January 26, 2018, 8:25 am

While I agree with the jest of your comment, the wall is $25 Billion, not million.

But to another point; I’d hate to be on the “ confiscation unit”… expectancy can’t be that great.

      • Henry January 26, 2018, 8:28 am

You may want to check your units on the cost of the “wall”…Billions, not Millions…

    • larry wilson January 26, 2018, 7:37 am

How many of Mexifornia’s killing have been on this list.; How many MS 13s are on this list.. How many illegals that have weapons are on this list.?

    • David January 26, 2018, 9:59 am

This case, it’s the government who are the criminals!

  • Al January 26, 2018, 5:16 am

Deemed mentally unstable? Could work against older people. Restraining order? A disgruntled wife could unjustly punish husband by claiming abuse. It happened to a friend in Massachusetts.

    • Earl January 26, 2018, 11:34 am

It happens a lot more often then you think! My ex-wife tried it on me. The sheriff’s dept came and emptied my safe over some BS she made up. 3 weeks later, the judge saw right thru her BS and I had an order in my hand to release everything back to me. Keep fighting and don’t let them railroad you!

  • James A Howell January 26, 2018, 4:47 am

This is just one more way of them circumventing our 2nd Amendment rights they can and will keep trying to come after are gums our 2nd Amendment rights and all of our rights eventually they will keep coming again we need to stop these criminals gun grabbers these so-called human beings I think they’re better than us with full Arm Security and most if not all of them in gated communities criminals are not supposed to or possess guns prior except for certain types of hunting for hunting as far as my knowledge goes but this will not stop here you can bet your last buck on that please gun grabbers need to be stopped now one way or the other or they will start 1776 again if you are convicted or yes if they say or maybe somebody didn’t like you and you didn’t even know it happened and they’re going to show up in full SWAT gear like the brown shirts in Germany and other socialist and communist countries and take everybody’s guns they can all they have to do is have somebody that you may know or may not know and then all of the sudden for no good reason you lose your 2nd Amendment rights and in turn you will lose your first and last name you will just be a number and and a mathematical equation with no rides you will lose all of your rights your 3rd 4th and 5th Amendment rights and so forth they are slowly chipping away at our rights as Americans they are going to take our 2nd Amendment rights they are going to keep coming and coming until they get what they want socialism that has to be stopped at the highest levels it’s not just going to be criminals that have their weapons taken criminals are not supposed to own guns. Felons have the knowledge they are not to own weapons or not supposed to own guns so this is a beta test this will not stop here they are not coming after criminals they’re coming after decent good hard-working veterans young and old and disabled an excuse they can to make the America since they think is best to take our guns this is as as simple as this is another end run to get our weapons. Do not be afraid once they have the ability to make you fear they will come after you this is the New World Order it is not a conspiracy theory they say it openly out loud and proudly stand up pay attention God bless you and God bless America Sincerely yours James A. Howell

    • Shane January 26, 2018, 2:57 pm

I say again, I agree with all that’s said. BUT NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. Talk, cry, bitch, moan and groan. The moment of truth is in our faces and nothing will be done about it. Please prove me wrong.

  • Harbinger January 26, 2018, 3:48 am

Can we just take overt California or drop them as a state song with New York, New Jersey and a handful of others who feel it’s acceptable to molest citizens trying to protect themselves while letting illegal immigrants ruin society.

  • NRA member and embarrassed January 26, 2018, 3:47 am

Oh great. Yet another NRA aided gun confiscation program started at the beginning of last decade. Yeah. You wonder why I refuse to support the NRA anymore despite them calling me day and night? They are the reason we have as many restrictions as we have. They aren’t out to protect you or your rights.

    • Dr Motown January 26, 2018, 7:36 am

Please post proof of your allegation. Also, please tell us which group is out to protect our rights?

      • James Mcgee January 26, 2018, 10:35 am

I have to ring in this, it’s true the NRA has not done much in the way of standing up for the 2nd amendment in Calif. we pay for them to do what? when the bleeding hearts in Sacramento, get done with us we won’t have any rights, what to do, VOTE every we them out of office, that is an anti 2nd amendment, that’s what the NRA should have with there lobbyist, HELP

        • Doug January 26, 2018, 11:19 am

Dream on, where have you been hiding? Every one of those illegals that come across the border is another democrat vote. My God man wake up! California is gone and never to return. The dems have planed this for years. Why do you think they want to flood the whole US with illegals? Its a complete take over! The dems are behind it doing everything they can to support it. Just wait and see what happens when there’s more of them than true Americans. Ugly. The only way to save the state of Cali is for the military to get involved and that’s not going to happen.

          • Doug January 28, 2018, 11:31 am

Isn’t it funny how things boil down to the root of the problem. Like illegal immigration. Whats really going on is called stuffing the ballot boxes. If we don’t get a handle on that the whole country will look like California. There will not one Republican left standing in any house, senate, governor ship or president in this country for the next 200 years. But really, if that happens this country will cease to exist way before that. But thats what the dems have been planing all along.

        • Proud NRA member January 26, 2018, 11:20 am

The NRA cannot vote your elected officials in to office, that is your job.
I live in Illinois and am fighting an uphill battle also. I go out an vote in every election.
The NRA’s help was one of the major factors in getting President Trump elected.

      • Rouge1 January 26, 2018, 10:52 am

Almost every anti 2a law had the support of the nra. 1933 nfa 1934 gca the 1968 gca the 1986 the
McClure Volkmire act and the 1994 assault rifle ban. They supported many draconian local gun laws as well. The nra is the enemy.
