Following news this week that the Biden administration would proceed with its federal ban on so-called “ghost guns,” the nation’s gun lobby released a statement that criticized the president for, among other things, being soft on crime.
“An administration that’s truly sincere and resolute about curbing violent crime rates would do one thing: take violent criminals off the streets,” said the NRA.
“Yet the Biden administration allows these criminals who kill and maim with callous and reckless abandon, again and again, to roam the streets of Baltimore, Philadelphia, Chicago, New York, San Francisco and other cities large and small across our country without fear of prosecution and punishment,” they continued.
Biden’s gun control actions will hearten his wealthy gun control supporters. But, this action sends the wrong message to violent criminals, because this “ban” will not affect them.

To back up the NRA’s point, a recent study of the D.C.-area looking at homicides from 2019 to 2020 found that 86 percent of victims and suspects had prior run-ins with the law.
“Overall, most victims and suspects with prior criminal offenses had been arrested about 11 times for about 13 different offenses by the time of the homicide,” the study said.

The main takeaway is that roughly 500 identifiable individuals drive 60-70 percent of the city’s shooting each year.
How a city deals with this small but hyper-violent minority really matters. Yet, it seems, in many Left-leaning cities these known criminals are allowed to re-offend with impunity thanks to a revolving door of justice (funded in large part by George Soros) that puts ’em back out onto the streets.
Instead of focusing on the problem, the Biden administration delivers more window dressing to appease Bloomberg and his minions.
As the NRA noted, “… the president unveils another hollow plan that will not stop this violence. His gun control actions will undoubtedly hearten his wealthy gun control supporters. But, this action sends the wrong message to violent criminals, because this ‘ban’ will not affect them.”

“These violent crime sprees will continue unabated until they are arrested, prosecuted and punished,” the organization concluded.
That’s really the Democrats’ approach to violence — find more ways to disarm law-abiding citizens under the pretext that it’ll make hardened criminals less dangerous.
I love how the NRA talks about the Biden Administration delivering window dressing to the anti-gunners whilst in the midst of doing the exact same thing for 2A advocates.
The NRA is a useless organization. If they really want to do something to help the 2A community, they would bow out and not take money and power from other organizations that are actually fighting against the infringements.
By the way, I’d like to take a moment to thank Trump and everyone who saw nothing wrong with banning bumpfire stocks for setting the precedent that Biden is using now to push most of his anti-gun agenda.

The NRA complains that the new law won’t stop criminals and violent crime and the real way to stop this is by arresting and prosecuting these criminals. But it’s hard to arrest criminals when you lack clues to do so and by serializing ghost guns, it gives law enforcement a means to trace the gun which can assist in apprehending the criminal who used. The law really doesn’t affect law abiding gun owners who want to make their own firearms, other than having to go through a background, as they do with every firearm they buy from a dealer
Not yet anyway. The real danger here is Biden’s arrogant attempt to legislate against the 2nd amendment by executive order. THAT has got to be challenged at least until we can get to the midterms, God permitting, and can flush some of these Potomac River sewer rats down the toilet and start impeachment proceedings against this idiot. Then he will have other things to worry about. I want this man to be the first president ever impeached and convicted and removed from office. He will feign sickness and resign first of course, but they must press on to remove him. This coward won’t even have the decency to resign like a man like Nixon. He will want our sympathy. That is what all pathological liars do. PRAY that we make it to the midterms with our right to vote still intact. And remember that lame ducks can do a lot of damage from election day to inauguration day. There’s a lot of uncertainty between now and then though…
Anyone who has actually looked into the problem can tell you that your argument is baseless. As the guns used in 90% of crime are not purchased from any sort of dealer. They are stolen, bought on the black market, or through a “straw” buyer. Your statement shows you have no grasp of the problem and are only spewing proven falsehoods to virtue signal. You think your argument makes you sound rational and having a well thought out point but what it really does is prove your ignorance of the issue.
WTF difference does it make if you find the original owner? Most firearms used in crime are stolen, so a serial number DOES NOT HELP in almost all cases. Catching the repeat felon in possession of a loaded firearm means at least 10 years in Federal Prison. No “good time”, they will do The whole sentence. Since most crime is committed by the same small group of individuals, putting them in prison, instead of back on the street will, and has, reduced crime SIGNIFICANTLY. See Project Exile in Richmond, VA in 1997. It worked so well criminals quit carrying guns as they knew they would go to prison for a long stretch if caught, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
