In a move that surprised no one, New York City Mayor Eric Adams called for a “national” gun control response after a would-be mass murderer opened fire on a crowded subway train last week.
Adams is only the latest mayor of a major American city to deflect blame for rising crime onto guns and the federal government’s supposed inaction.
“The problem we’re facing… is in our entire nation right now. And that is why… we need a national response to this issue,” Adams told CNN. The mayor bragged about how the NYPD had been able to confiscate 1,800 guns in the last three months but called on the ATF to continue to assist those efforts.

“There are so many things we could do to assist the cities across America… to make sure we’re a safe place for our residents,” he concluded.

Adams’ call for national support comes just a few days after President Joe Biden announced a final rule aimed at banning homemade firearm kits. As GunsAmerica reported at the time, the new rule would:
- Ban kits that allow an unfinished receiver to be turned into a firearm
- Require gun dealers to serialize all firearms they obtain
- Redefine the term “frame or receiver” to incorporate split-receiver firearms like the AR-15
- Force gun dealers to retain all gun sale records and turn them over to the ATF when they go out of business
Biden also nominated U.S. Attorney Steve Dettelbach to become director of the ATF.
A lone attacker opened fire on a crowded New York City subway train last week after releasing smoke grenades. He fired 33 shots from a Glock 9mm handgun, which he purchased in Columbus, Ohio, in 2011. The gun reportedly jammed as he was trying to unload three extended magazines.
Ten people suffered gunshot wounds while at least another 13 were injured from smoke inhalation or other causes. So far, no one has died.
Adams is only the latest in a long line of mayors to blame their city’s rising violence on firearms. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, former New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio, and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms have all done the same.
How does a Glock jam? I mean I know it can happen but how retarded do you have to be to not know how to resolve it.
Of course as long as criminals are shuffled right out on to the street after arrest we will have crime. Knives, guns, cars, ropes, chains and fists kill people as well as shoves in front of subway trains and out windows.

The US is not represented by the Party system anymore, since in the heyday of the Democrat and Republican control, the only real difference was what each thought the reach of government was supposed to be, but both parties loved the US and it Constitution. This all changed in the 20’s and 30’s with the unionization movement. We now only have two parties, one that believes in the Constitution, and another that believes in the teachings of Carl Marx, we have Democommunists and Conservatives and every day another tenet of Marx is forced on us. Gun laws are the epitome of an observation of Albert Einstein, doing something over and over and expecting a different outcome is insanity. Passing more gun laws to stop crime and shootings is an insane way of actually solving the real problem, and one source, by the end of this year, year 3 million of them will have crossed our Southern border.

Better idea – how about a ban on “mostly peaceful protesters” of the melanistic persuasion. They should all be considered terrorists and criminals. And the Democrat party should be held responsible for egging them on with such idiocies as Critical Race Theory and the 1619 project.
Considering national FBI crime statistics over the years by race, and particularly the persuasion of the thug starring in the incident, maybe Negro control might more actively curb gun violence in this country.
