Join Pittsburgh Gun Owners Protesting City’s Proposed Ban on Semiautos

2nd Amendment – R2KBA This Week

Do you live in or around the city of Pittsburgh?

If so, this Monday join hundreds of Pittsburgh-area gun owners protesting a proposed ordinance that would ban semiautomatic firearms within the city.

Open Carry Pennsylvania (OCP) is organizing the event, which is being held outside Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto’s office, at 414 Grant Street Pittsburgh, PA 15219, at noon. Again, this coming Monday, Jan. 7th.

OCP said in a Facebook post that attendees “May carry your firearm openly if you choose to, it is not a must.” Adding, “Just showing up to support your rights is greatly appreciated.”

Parking will be available at the First Avenue Garage and Station located at 600 First Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Organizers plan to meet there around 11:30 and then walk over to the mayor’s office.

As GunsAmerica previously reported the mayor’s ban would prohibit city residents from manufacturing, selling, purchasing, transporting, carrying, storing, or otherwise holding any semi-automatic rifle, pistol, or shotgun deemed to have too many scary features and accessories.

Moreover, there is also a proposed ban on certain accessories/magazines/ammunition, including magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds, “armor-piercing” ammunition (which includes all-copper bullets), bump stocks, binary triggers, suppressors, and “semi-auto modifications.” The ordinance defines this last prohibited item as any part or accessory that “accelerates the rate of fire of a semi-automatic firearm,” which may include lightened triggers.

Isn’t there pre – emption because of how the states constitution is worded ?

  • John Rambo January 7, 2019, 3:58 am

All this bs is leading to Civil War, is that what they really want? These are scary times for our Constitutional Rights. Our fore fathers must be rolling over in their graves. We are a nation built on the principles in the Second Ammendment.
“:A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

    Authorities to Farmer Brown:
\”Someone shot a neighbor farmer\’s cow last night. In the interest of \’safety,\’ we are confiscating all cows in the area. It\’s for your own protection.\”

Why aren\’t these dictatorial, lawbreaking politicians arrested & prosecuted for making their own extrajudicial decrees? Where\’s the State AG? (probably in their corner)

    Here here!

When you vote Democrat for mayor and city council, you get restrictive gun control. Did you register those semi-autos. If you did, the next step will be the police kicking down your door to confiscate those firearms. Don’t like it? Tough! Get over it. You voted for those clowns and now you’ll have to pay the price. What did you think was going to happen when you elect a bunch of gun-hating, liberal politicians? You can always move to Florida, Arizona, or Texas.

    • Stan d. Upnow January 6, 2019, 10:14 am

Don\’t think your gun rights are safe Anywhere!
I live in FL, and our Republicans in the state govt. voted to ban bump stocks and raise the firearm purchase/possession age to 21 in only a matter of 3 weeks! The Republican governor, Rick Scott,
      happily signed it into law.

What really concerns me in Florida is the “Red Flag” laws they now have on the books in that state. They can use these laws to confiscate private guns from Florida citizens with no due process of law. These laws completely violate a citizen’s 2nd, 5th and 6th Amendment rights. You are guilty if accused until proven innocent.

Law Enforcement has used these laws to confiscate over one hundred people’s firearms from what I read.

I presume that this is a knee-jerk reaction to the temple massacre which occurred in Pittsburgh. Well, I’m Jewish, and if I lived in Pittsburgh I would be packing semiauto heat the next time I went to temple. The idiot mayor may as well get on a bullhorn and scream, “Come to Pittsburgh, criminals!! We’ve got unarmed targets for you!”.

As a whimsy, maybe it\’s time to wall-off all these cesspool cities(LA, SF, Chicago, Detroit, Dearborn, Minneapolis, Seattle, etc, etc) and deplete our inventory of MOABs.

      • AJ January 6, 2019, 2:11 pm

Just give them what they want… Wall off the cities and empty out the prisons into those cities. Only real good church boys go to prison anyway. Got to make sure we put up gun free zone signs too… Wouldn’t want criminals to think they could meet resistance.

Tyrannical government entities is why we have the Second Amendment to start with.

  • CHUCK BENAK January 4, 2019, 2:19 pm

I’m planning on traveling from Ohio to attend this event that’s how strong I feel about the issue.

  • Tim Cogswell January 4, 2019, 10:10 am

And… this new ordinance would solve what problem again?

  • Brick January 4, 2019, 9:21 am

What is to be done with Governor and Attorney General who refuse to enforce the laws they’ve sworn to uphold? Pennsylvania’s State law states clearly “no county, municipality or township may in any manner regulate the lawful ownership, possession, transfer or transportation of firearms, ammunition or ammunition components when carried or transported for purposes not prohibited by the laws of this Commonwealth.”. That should be enough to end the discussion immediately. Especially when combined with Article 21 of the PA Constitution.

  • Rick Roberts January 4, 2019, 9:19 am

Maybe the mayor should make a new law about drugs in the Burgh being unlawful, now that should really be a show stopper! Where do these people come from? I hope people remember the mayor at election time!

  • Dr. Josiah Stephenson January 4, 2019, 7:16 am

Be sure to let them know that the 2nd amendment made a guaranty, and that the only way, and i mean the only way anyone state or national can change it is with the amendment process. also see the 10th amendment as well about what is not in the constitution is automatically a states right.
Seems like we are electing a bunch of dummies now days, and they do not know the constitution at all or they do not give a rip about it and go about to make changes with out the right process of justice, like a damnable criminal. Do not let them push you around at all, Simper-Fi. Dr. Joe

  • Jay January 4, 2019, 7:04 am

On the list of so called government officials, a low life mayor is not one I’ll listen too and I never knew mayors had any authority to make up laws! Stale laws always take precedent in conflict of laws. Time for an emergency meeting to vote in a new mayor!

  • Dave January 4, 2019, 5:50 am

Even more disturbing than Pittsburgh’s mayor thinking he is above Pennsylvania law is our Governor Wolfe thinking the same by publicly supporting and encouraging the mayor to do this, as well as encouraging other Pennsylvania jurisdictions to do the same. And don’t hold your breath thinking the Pa District Attorney will do something about it.

  • Wetzel Boushie January 4, 2019, 5:00 am

Any elected official who advocates and perverts the Constitutional rights of the people to protect life and property should be removed from office and incarcerated for violating the constitution their sworn to defend .

    • David Welsh January 5, 2019, 9:34 am

      Correct.
