The mayor of Pittsburgh, Penn., William Peduto awarded the CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods, Ed Stack, the “Maverick in Leadership” award for “work on behalf of common-sense gun safety measures,” in his efforts to prop up gun control in-house and abroad.
“It’s my honor to present Ed Stack with this award, and to celebrate the integrity and courage he has shown in taking on what we in Pittsburgh know to be one of the most important fights of our time – protecting our neighborhoods, schools, places of worship and all public places from the gun violence epidemic,” Mayor Peduto said.
Under Stack, Dick’s Sporting Goods has pulled firearms off shelves from all their locations and affiliate stores like Field & Stream, specifically “assault”-style guns, guns with “high-capacity” magazines and bump stock accessories. Concurrently, Dick’s profits have lagged behind other business in the sporting goods sector that continue to sell common firearms.
In addition to ending the sale of popular guns, the company enacted a new policy not to sell guns to 18-20-year-olds, even when the sales would be legal. Stack also joined the gun-control group Everytown for Gun Safety’s business council.
Stack pledged support for a ban on semi-automatic firearms and standard capacity magazines, ending sales to any adults under the age of 21 and a ban on private gun sales.

“Thoughts and prayers are not enough,” Dick’s explained in a statement, cites the National Review. “We support and respect the Second Amendment, and we recognize and appreciate that the vast majority of gun owners in this country are responsible, law-abiding citizens. But we have to help solve the problem that’s in front of us.”
“There’s going to be some pushback and we expected that,” said Stack during an earnings call. “There are going to be the people who don’t shop us anymore for anything.”
The Daily Caller points out that it’s fitting for Stack to receive an award from Peduto. The mayor recently sponsored gun control legislation that would violate his state’s preemption laws.
“The choice of Peduto to present the award to Stack was inspired,” they wrote. “In his pursuit of gun control, Peduto has breached his duty to the public by advocating for local anti-gun measures that are illegal under Pennsylvania law. It can be argued that Stack has deviated from his duty to shareholders in order to indulge his political predilections.”
Scranton, Pa. Field and Stream sells guns and ammo. They are DDicks .They pick there spots. They don’t sell AR’s but sells everything else. Not everyone subscribes to Guns America so they have no clue and shop there anyway. Pittsburgh’s mayor, Vote that wasteful politician out.

Now I can proudly say I haven’t spent one red cent there in almost 5 years,,,I hope they go belly up to be honest .

I don’t even think about buying from Dick’s any longer. When Stack when full libtard, I was done. I used to buy a lot of fishing, hunting, camping and an occasional firearm, but those days are in the rearview mirror. I am looking forward to their ‘Going Out of Business’ sale, which I won’t attend. See if Stack can get a gig like this when Dick’s tanks.
I have not bought anything at DICKS nor will I ever. Destroyed my credit card and Mr. Stack has ruined a good thing. Has Peduto quit thinking about Bike Lanes and started handing out awards?

Many people including myself have stopped making purchases at Dicks. Stopped even considering Yeti for coolers. We stopped buying fishing and camping equipment there.
If your in the mall, look how many people are customers compared to all the employees making themselves look busy.
I won hundred percent agree everyone should stop shopping there. Make sure though, if you have gift cards from there to go and use them and not spend a penny over the gift card amount. If you don’t use that card it’s like giving them that money for free. Make sure You buy some sort of hard goods to. Clothing, snacks, and disposables are usually high markup items.

I was at an academy sports in Greenville NC and saw a sign that stated shop at academy sports we appreciate our customers ( And WE are NOT DICK’S)

Dick’s is no longer a chain store that I will buy from. Since it was convenient I would often stop in to shop for fishing and hunting things. I will no longer do that. It is their freedom to sell what they wish and if they had simply stopped selling guns I would have continued to shop there, but they choose to make it a political issue and came out to support violating the intent of the 2nd Amendment and my right to exercise that right. So I choose to exercise my right to not only NOT buy from them but also my freedom of speech to ask everyone I know to also NOT shop at Dick’s. Cabelas and other stores are easily available for hunting and fishing, and almost everything else they sell is easily and cheaper at Target, Wall Mart, and even off the internet at such sites as Amazon and Ebay. Hopefully the decisions of Dick’s executives will result in the death of this chain.

I have been to Dicks Sporting Goods twice and on both occasions found the sales personnel oblivious to my inquiries about binoculars and hockey equipment, then came the weapons fiasco and I have not and will not go back.
If they truly wanted to ” solve the problem that is in front of them” they would be doing something to limit the number of illegal weapons on the street, getting weapons out of the hands of those who should not have them. They are woosies not leaders.
