POF-5

Fully extended, and with the Silencerco Osprey, it doesn't look so small.

Fully extended, and with the Silencerco Osprey, it doesn’t look so small.

When I first read about the Pakistani Ordnance Factory’s POF-5, I asked the obvious questions. POF? Is this a company? How come I’ve never heard of them? Continuing to read further, I realized why this name wasn’t familiar–it is foreign. And when I say foreign, I mean foreign. The POF comes from a part of the world I wouldn’t expect to make such a versatile firearm.

The new kid on the block is from Pakistan. That didn’t exactly light my fire. I’ll admit now that I had to get over some of my preconceived notions. Not that I have anything against the people pf Pakistan…. When I was a kid, though, I bought knives made in Pakistan. They were cheap, plentiful, and all-but-useless. That’s why I bought them. They were junk, priced like junk, and that was a great thing for a teenager on a limited budget. And that’s what I expected of the POF, honestly—nothing more than a cheap copy.

The throw-away-knives are easily identified as junk. You can see the (lack of) quality. These guns look good. In the interest of fair journalism, I shelved my prejudices and gave them a fighting chance. Who knows? I thought, Maybe these guns might work. At the very least they would make great range toys.

I did some digging, and ended up talking with Atlantic Firearms. Atlantic is an authority on imported guns, and our go-to source for import industry news. “What’s the deal with these Pakistani MP5 clones?” I asked. “Do they work?”

[one_half]

The POF-5K. Price, performance, package (small), practical, pistol, and, from Pakistan of all places.

[/one_half_last]

Atlantic said the POF guns work so well that they’d put them up against any of the other clones on the market. That was good enough for me, honestly, but they were so confident in the new guns that they sent us one to review. Two, actually—the POF-5 and the POF-5PK (a new offering more in line with the MP5-k).

[/one_half_last]

I’ve contextualized my doubt. If it wasn’t clear already, I expected the Pakistani MP5 clones would be best used as paper weights. No offense, Pakistan. I was wrong. The fit and finish on these guns is great. The welds are substantial and smooth, the machining of the internals is clean, and the triggers are crisp. These guns feel right. I have fired many an H&K MP5, and these firearms look and feel nearly identical.

Take-down is easy. This makes cleaning, even in the field, much easier.

Take-down is easy. This makes cleaning, even in the field, much easier.

Even down to the disassembly. A great and unique feature of these pistols is their readiness for upgrades; these pistols have pushpin lowers allowing for registered sears and other trigger packs to be easily swapped into action. They also come from the factory with three lug barrels, threaded for the attachment of a muzzle device or suppressor. Along with the other H&K features, these pistols have a paddle and push-button magazine release—features that aren’t exactly standard on the competition clones, and definitely not for this price.

That’s something to note—the POF-5PK is not your average MP5K clone. It goes a step above in an attempt to bring to market the gun people want. It is what’s known as a reverse stretch, which means it has a full receiver with a shorter barrel—in this case a 6inch. This allows for a slower rate of fire in Full-Auto and for more parts interchangeability with full-sized MP5 clones.

Getting a grip on the POF-5 is easy, though the brace makes everything stable.

Getting a grip on the POF-5 is easy, though the brace makes everything stable.

So how do they shoot?

This is the reason you’re still reading this review, I assume. These pistols work. Flawlessly. These guns scream freedom, and sling 115 grain balls of lead and liberty down range as fast as you can squeeze the trigger.

I used 1,000 rounds of Freedom Munitions as the control group and 3,000 rounds of steel case wolf as the test group, suppressed and unsuppressed. Out of the 4,000 rounds of ammunition used in this review, I experienced 5 failures to eject, and they all came from steel cases stuck in exceptionally dirty chambers. A basic cleaning solved the problem instantly.

After literally thousands of rounds between the two pistols, little to no cleaning, and some of the dirtiest ammunition known to man, Pakistani Ordnance Factory was not only making me eat crow—they’ve made me into a believer. Pleasantly surprised doesn’t even come close. When you consider the price (or even if you don’t, really), the POF’s performance is astounding.

The modularity of the POF-5 allows the use of compatible parts from other makers.

The modularity of the POF-5 allows the use of compatible parts from other makers.

Customizations

Lets move on to accessories. The H&K guns with push-pin lowers are built in a factory that is known for its rigorous standards. These MP5 clones are built with the same modularity as those that have rolled out of H&K plants for generations. Accepting nearly all standard H&K parts and accessories, these are the ideal guns for registered full-auto seers and SBR projects.

The guns are threaded up front to 1/2×28. They also have a tri-lug barrel. These guns can easily be suppressed with nearly all 9mm pistol cans on the market, as well as rifle cans.

Lets Say you don’t have a registered full-auto sear, or have no intentions of turning this gun into a SBR. There are still options and accessories for you. Atlantic Firearms has a great product to offer that not only makes the pistols easier to shoot but will instantly turn these over-sized beasts into ergonomic dreams. The AA5-PSB MP5 Style Pistol Arm Brace not only adds function to your weapon, it also adds much need stability. From the forearm or the shoulder, this brace will change the way you feel about this gun. The brace comes with a butt cap, threaded adapter, spacers and a tube to slip the brace on. There is even the option to lower and raise the location of the brace on the firearm giving the end user total control in how there weapon will fit. Some of you may be saying that’s-great-and-all but this compact pistol just became a bit too big. Fear not. A side-folding hinge is available. This really helps when transporting the pistol.[one_half]

[/one_half_last]

With the arm brace attached, the POF presents and handles much more like a rifle than a pistol.

With the arm brace attached, the POF presents and handles much more like a rifle than a pistol.

How do they handle?

These pistols just seem to work. I’m not saying they are ergonomic. They are not. As a pistol, words like gigantic, heavy, clunky come to mind. But regardless of how I feel about holding a hunk of a pistol with no stock, the guns work, and work well. They are easily controlled, have little to know rise during rapid fire, and have plenty of surface area to get that second hand on the gun to aid in stabilization.

Adding a pistol stabilizing brace to the equation really makes for a usable and serviceable firearm. Shooting the pistol with the brace attached to your arm isn’t all that odd. It changes a pistol that I would otherwise consider a novelty into a functioning weapon by cutting out even more of the rise.

Political correctness aside… lets talk about the elephant in the room. With the help of the optional brace, shouldering these pistols transforms your experience. Zero recoil, zero rise, ease of use and comfortable controls. These guns become something completely new.

The addition of the AA5-PSB brace takes range guns and turns them into weapons I would use in most, if not all situations.

The POF-5 with the folding brace is still compact, but not as small as the POF-5K.

The POF-5 with the folding brace is still compact, but not as small as the POF-5K.

Accuracy

This is one topic I really have failed to mention. These are not long range bench rifles. They are the exact opposite. Sub MOA is out of the question. So where does that leave us? Check your expectations. There’s no point in obfuscating the issue: these aren’t target guns and they aren’t meant to be. These are guns that are designed to eliminate an aggressive threat.

The guns have iron sights with the option for improvement. Optic rails can be added to the pistol, but were not used during the testing. In a perfect world an Aimpoint Micro would sit atop these pistols, or possibly even a Trijicon RMR. But for me, I’ll keep it simple.

Practical Accuracy, at 100 yards? I was able to connect with my torso plates without question from any traditional shooting position. When bench rested, I saw sub 3 MOA groups. Did I mention I used wolf ammunition and iron sights? That is accurate enough for me. And this was also the same for the POF-5PK–consistent 3 inch groups with little deviation.

The guns are shipped with one 30 round magazine and there are plenty available online at the Atlantic Firearms web store. They cost $42.00 and are interchangeable with H&K magazines that cost nearly twice as much. With the incredible stability of the platform, and the increase in capacity, and the compact size, it is easy to understand why these are going to be popular. The POF-5 would make a great range toy, or a solid truck gun. It is ideal for home defense. It may even have some collector value some day. And hell–who hasn’t always wanted an MP5? It’s a gun I would bet my life on.

Conclusions

How is it that POF pulls this off? When so much of the shit coming out of Pakistan is still shit, how do they make a good gun? The POF-5 is like the ak47 of MP5s. It is built to spec, but just barely and that is the reason they are successful. The guns work more reliably then most (if not all) other clones I’ve shot. Nothing against a genuine MP5, but the tolerances are tight, and they get temperamental when they’re really dirty.  These kept chugging along past 2000 rounds.

My mind is made up. Lets hope these are just the first of many great firearms to come to our country from the Pakistani Ordnance Factory. Cruise over to Atlantic Firearms and check out what they got in-stock.

Instead of adding comment about MP5 , some idiots talking politics and hate. amazing.

  • fred February 7, 2015, 1:17 pm

if you clowns are so against buying weapons from the enemy then why was everybody so gung ho about importing the TAVOR.If anyone doubts the real enemy google “uss liberty” or “mossad agents arrested on 9/11”. They did everything the could to make us hate the Arab world and they conceded. Im not saying they did 9/11 but they damm well knew it was going to happen and didnt prevent it just to turn the U.S. against the arabs.WE ARE SUCKERS .Now we let the terrorist Netanyahoo to dare come and lecture our congress against what our presidents policies towards Iran (dont get me wrong ;i dont care for Obama ) BUT, he is our president and no foriegner should address our congress against him. That cocksucke doesnt want us to negotiate with Iran ;he wants us to send our boys to die in Iran to protect his country just like iraq .FOR NO REASON but to protect israel again WE R SUCKERS

    • Ralph May 14, 2016, 7:18 pm

      Fred,

The knee-jerk moronic post makes absolutely no sense. Jews and other foreigners also died in the Twin Towers. No Mossad agents were arrested on 9/11. That is rubbish. In addition, 0bummmer lied about the Iran deal and you know that. It was recently printed in the NYT.

    • John JB July 25, 2016, 3:19 pm

I can’t believe I used to believe BS like this. Fred: yes, Israel bombed the USS Liberty. However, instead of being a malicious act, as it is often portrayed, some research into it reveals Israel legitimately thought they were in the right, defending territory they had a vested interest in, and that the act would be seen as a show of force that would be appreciated by people. Keep in mind that at the time, America was not as buddy-buddy with Israel as they are today. The bombing of the USS Liberty was not an act of rabid Christian-hating Jews, scheming to hurt their Western ally behind their back, but a strategic decision to make a play for dominance in the region. Now, it was a poor, reckless decision, and overall Israel’s image has suffered because of it. In essence, they shot themselves in the foot, because it only served to further the belief that Israel is a selfish, militarily-reckless country. I do think it’s legitimate to criticize Israel for never apologizing for the act, however this is just par for the course for Israel: they can hardly ever publicly admit when they’re wrong.

As for 9/11 Mossad agents: yes, 3 Israelis were arrested & deported after they were seen filming and rejoicing the 9/11 attacks. That doesn’t mean that Israel was in any way responsible for 9/11. Those Israelis were (I believe) a film crew, it wasn’t weird for them to have a camera at the ready, and to film the sheer terror that was unfolding before them. If you actually watch the Israeli TV interview those Israelis did (https://youtu.be/tRfhUezbKLw), they explain that the “rejoicing” that took place was simply an act of relief, “Finally, the Americans will understand what we have to deal with every day.” In other words, “Maybe now they’ll believe and take seriously what we’ve been saying for so long: Islamic terror is one of the most important threats facing the world today, and existentially is the biggest threat to the continued success of the Western world.”

Israel doesn’t have to do anything to make us hate the Arab world, because the Arab world does that all by themselves. Islam is not just a religion like any other religion, and all religions are not created equal. All-in-all, Islam is objectively more inhumane than any other modern religion, and it’s ideology anti-West at its core. Go ahead and read the Quran, the Talmud, and the New Testament, and compare them. The Quran is by far the worst. Even the worst parts of the Talmud are less obscene than the least offensive parts of the Quran. At its worst, the Talmud teaches followers to have an active indifference to Chritians/non-Jews or to refuse help and aid to them. The Quran, at its worst, directs its followers to kill, maim, and torture non-believers, and the least offensive parts directs it followers to lie to and steal from non-believers and to rape their women. There’s just no comparison between the two, and despite my own criticisms for Judaism, I’d rather live under Jewish rule for a lifetime than under Islamic rule for a day. Sam Harris is more precise is his analysis of these ideas, give him a listen.

And before you get in a huff: none of what I said is an endorsement of Israel or its history and policies. I am simply setting the record straight that 9/11 was carried out by Muslims. Even if Israel knew it was going to happen, so did our politicians and our intelligence community! So how could Israel “let it happen?” They couldn’t have told us anything we didn’t already know, and the people whose duty to protect our nation are our military, intelligence community, and our politicians. How is Israel at fault for how a sovereign nation chooses to defend itself? Would you have preferred it if Israeli troops entered America to stop 9/11? of course not. So please, criticize Israel all you want for the history of how they came to be, and for the policy and strategy they pursue. Not only do I support that, but I do it myself. However, painting them as evil schemers playing both sides of the war is unnecessary, hyperbolic, and borders on racist. There’s already enough legitimate things to criticize Israel about, without having to resort to that.

I’m sorry, I don’t care about any product made in the middle east, Turkey or Pakistan. The quality of the American, Austrian, German, and high countries of Europe, are the only guns I would even consider buying. My first choice, of course, is American made, then the other countries of Europe. Russia and other European countries would be my 3rd choice, because of their proven ruggedness. To me, goods or guns produced in Pakistan, Turkey or any other country in that part of the world does not interest me in the least. I’m am not ruling them out because of any bias to the people of those countries, but, in the past I’ve seen some of the crap that comes out of that part of the world. Another thing that bothers me is that even though we are supposedly allied with these middle eastern countries, is that relations could change over night with those governments. Since 9-11 they have been pandering to our side for the billions of American taxpayer dollars that we’re funneling to them, to keep them happy, because we’re so afraid, if we don’t pay them off, they will switch sides. Look how Pakistan was harboring the most wanted muslim in the world, and you can’t convince me the government didn’t know he was hiding there. They’re not really our friends, they’re fair weather friends, as long as the long green keeps going into their pockets. Criticize me, if you must, even call me a bigot, but “I yam, what I yam”, and I really don’t think we need to be wasting our money in countries that we cannot trust when the BS hit’s the fan. But, that’s just me!

if usama was hidding out there, you can imagine why
you are back stabbers and pathological liars, dont buy our guns
      we are not your friends.
Pakistan has enough friends, and remember your embassy in Pakistan
is ass kissing Pakistan 24/7, because you are right, America is terrified
of pissing off Pakistan. And remember at one time Germany was your worst
enemy. You are a nation of whores, you change friends when it suits you.
By the way Pakistan is a great friend of Germany. Fk u.

A lot of folks have never heard of POF but the entire region has cottage producton skills. Years ago, on naval duty, our ship stopped in Turkey . One of the guys went ashore and ordered an AK for himself and a scaled down one for his sons, 1 in ..22, 1 in 9 mm. He picked them up next day, still has them. They even made 40 round mags for the .22 and 9 mm. That part of the world has always had the skills to copy, duplicate and manufacture quality firearms and ammo. Most Americans just didn’t realize it.

Shouldering the arm brace actually puts the gun in the same position as our troops in the AfPak (and soon again, just watch) Iraq shoulder the M-4 – telescoping stock retracted. In the case of this weapon, you get even more ability to swing the gun on target fast in a tactical situation. I like this piece very much. Just hope the Pakis aren’t this good at making nukes, or we’re all in trouble.

lol.Bro we already have nukes. And believe me, we aren’t that bad either. If we were that bad, I assure you, we would have been much colder than the Nazis. lol. Your knowledge of other countries come from either films or media propaganda. Simple as a Russian film about their military is a propaganda to you but a film about US military is glorification.

  • JohnnyLingo62 October 21, 2014, 10:54 am

I re-read the article, but still have one question: what type of AMMO does this gun use? 9mm or .380?

    • Chris May 27, 2022, 2:32 am

Lol, Wow, how stupid are you!!

  • Tom October 14, 2014, 12:20 am

As a patriotic American, I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from Pakistan. Those people were dancing in the streets after 9 11. They were hiding Bin Laden. Why ANYONE who loves America would support these people is beyond my imagination.

    • Syed October 16, 2014, 5:05 pm

You don’t have to show your patriotism by boycotting a products from another country. You can still be a patriot and continue buying products that suit your budget and need. And for the record, the media always focuses on the negatives coming from Pakistan, so don’t jump to the conclusion that people were dancing and supporting terrorism. Pakistani people have as much family values, dignity, respect for life and pursuit of freedom as any American if not more. And remember, most Pakistanis study and cherish the egalitarian American values and consider it a role model to emulate.

    • Brada December 21, 2014, 12:05 pm

May be we should stop buying oil from the middle east and should have never entered into US-Russia space program.

  • robert October 13, 2014, 8:58 pm

this guy in the video is a real handjob. whats with the attitude? like he is tuff? douschebag he is..

  • Danno October 13, 2014, 7:58 pm

I agree with the guys who opined this price is crazy, but it’d still be a fun little gun to keep in the truck. Give it a month or two and Century will be selling them for $495, probably including the Sig brace. BTW, SBRs are a hoot. They don’t get in the way.

    • Chris May 27, 2022, 2:35 am

Lol, another moron, that’s what you are if you think these will ever sell for $500

  • Dinky Dau October 13, 2014, 6:12 pm

Please stop spreading harmful rumor of my homeland. My industrious countrymen make fine product for USA. Many customers have seen my wife and her sisters mash dough(with very clean feet) and still buy Dunkin Donuts with only one complaint for lost toenail found in Boston Creme in ten years. He still come back for more! The Indians defecating in the street are not your friend! Remember terrorist is as terrorist does Have a good day. Pradeesh Assinamicofe

    • Desert Sniper October 16, 2014, 10:05 am

You like your homeland so much, then why are you here? The plane that brought you here can take you back. I’ll even pitch in for the ticket. HAVE A NICE FLIGHT!

      • Chris May 27, 2022, 2:38 am

Right on brother, I’ll pitch in too if it means getting rid of these fuckers!!

  • Joel October 13, 2014, 4:49 pm

If I could have only one rifle, it would not be a ak47!

    • Tee Knight December 16, 2014, 12:59 am

I agree with the AK…. Hits harder and has a longer range then the AR……..Sorry

    • Americas alwaysright August 12, 2016, 8:08 pm

I have 2 AK’s… love them both but man I want an HK MP5!!!

    • Chris May 27, 2022, 2:39 am

      Another idiot!

  • Doc October 13, 2014, 3:56 pm

Folks, we are talking about a FIREARM not geo-poltics. Let’ TRY to stay on subject. And let’s stop calling each other names. I enjoyed some of the play on words (e.g. Pakistan Ordnance Supply was pretty funny, kinda like Pennsylvania Ordnance Supply would be as well). References to Bin Laden should be in the past person singular. While I’ve never owned one, the Baltics turned out some VERY ‘sharp-shooting’ hunting rifles, even under Commie run factories. As ANY real ‘Viet Vet will tell you – even Commie made AK’s were to be respected, even those made in 3d and 4th Estate Nations. I watched some ‘hand forged’ AK being made just one side or the other of the Khyber Pass – sheet metal pounded into what looked ‘About right’ in configuration – and even with an M-16A2-3-4 I would sure respect THAT firearm on ANY trail I ran across it while using. All it has to do is work long enough to kill / wound / maim me, and any more would be frosting on the cake. I’ve seen a LOT of name calling here, more than normal. STOP IT. Most of those screaming the loudest don’t have a brain, and compare that to the ones which read, simply “here’s the ATF letter” (link to letter).

If you put your prejudice away for JUST a moment you might read they are made on HK jigs. I’ll bet if that ‘Ghost Mill’ was made in Mexico or Bangladesh it wouldn’t turn out a worse lower than it does now. The fact that it makes an AR lower doesn’t make it any better or worse than a country where there are more than enough WELL MADE AK’s around.

AND — just to add insult to injury, When you put an well made AK up against a well made 16 you will find in test-after-test-after-test that the AK wins hands down on ‘If I could only have ONE firearm . . . .” ‘mind experiments’. The US doesn’t make the ‘best everything’ any more. Heck, who do we hitch a ride to when we hit the ISS? And, ummmmmm. here’s a good one: how many good Cameras and Microscopes are “Made in the USA”? (hint, it’s a number between -1 ad +1). I was once out-shot by a guy with a CZ and I have a Styer SSG-69 PII from the unfired lot that Bush Sr. had imported for USMC testing which never happened. And prone with bi-pod that will but a bullet on top of a bullet at 100 meters. My group was still WELL less than 1 inch out to 300 meters. He shot, counting he tears in the paper, a 3/4 inch group at 300 yards – using a commie made CZ. It’s sometimes about the firearm, though a good 90% is the shooter.

I appreciate the review, which is more than I can say for many of the ‘comments’ which are simply ignorant people who choose to remain stupid (Ignorant is not knowing, stupid is not wanting to learn). I rely upon these guys to help me not be stupid. I hope more of you will do the same.

    • jim October 13, 2014, 5:11 pm

You and your buddy who shoot one third MOA groups at 300 yards can probably shoot pool with a rope. You win today’s penis measuring contest.

      • Ron October 13, 2014, 6:26 pm

*jim* sure seems stuck on penis measuring references. Me thinks he must be a judge at such contests, Chief Wanker, so to speak… I’m sure if he took the time to think, 50% of the items in his own home are made in China -hardly a friend of the USA either.

        • Desert Sniper October 14, 2014, 7:32 pm

You’re right about Jim. I do see the point he was trying to make. High end custom rifle manufacturers in the 5K-8K range claim a 1/2 MOA benchmark. Doc and the guy with the CZ that shoot 1/3 MOA at 300 yards is just pure B.S. It did not happen.

          • Administrator October 14, 2014, 8:20 pm

We have demonstrated that CZ rifles shoot sub .5MOA, on several occasions. FYI

          • Desert Sniper October 15, 2014, 11:01 am

It could happen: a windless day, perfect hand loaded ammo, no scope mirage and a gun vice with rock solid bench.
Hey Administrator: Who the heck is we? CEO of CZ?

    • Zach Amir May 12, 2019, 9:17 pm

POF MP 5 are not colones. They are built to same standards and specs to original HK MP5 under HK license. POF is a very good company that manufacture Arms for Pakistani military. POF MP5 is banned in Pakistan. Only military personnel are using it. Pakistani Army used and manufactured Arms under HK license for years and MP 5 is not a new weapon for them.
Soon they will start manufacturing Bren II under Česká Zbrojovka license.

  • William October 13, 2014, 1:32 pm

“Scream freedom” , “Sling 115 grain balls of lead and Liberty”. Priceless commentary, I love it. Kudos to the author! GOD bless you all and GOD save America

    • William October 13, 2014, 1:37 pm

What was there to moderate? If GA finds GOD bless you all and GOD save America offensive, please by all means unsubscribe me.

  • BerferdT October 13, 2014, 1:30 pm

Good thing they didn’t chose the name Pakastani Ordinance Supply . . . wouldn’t make good initials.

    • Syed October 16, 2014, 5:07 pm

On the contrary, POF stands for Pakistan Ordinance Factories. Sir, if you do not like them do not buy them.

  • Steve October 13, 2014, 1:24 pm

Nice but the price – yea, cheaper than a real HK but come on – you can get a colt 9 or a terry cheaper – When the Tavor comes out in a dedicated 9, That’s what I’ll buy. It will be the same length as this with the brace but support a 16 inch barrel. The best barrel to have on a 9mm is 17 inches for max benefit. Coming from a third world country I would expect a lower price and might end up with junk.

  • CC213 October 13, 2014, 12:08 pm

You must have been living in a cave. POF-USA aka Patriot Ordnance factory used to be the importer, hence the name. Then the SHTF with Pakistan and they switch to ARs.

  • HkChuck October 13, 2014, 11:26 am

The POF MP5 has a small metal block in the rear of the receiver that prevents an unmodified full auto bolt carrier from
being inserted. This block prevents the weapon from being made ready to fire in a full auto mode. Removing the block would
be a violation of the law and be classified as making a full auto weapon by the ATF. Yes, it is possible to legally remove
the block but one would need to file a Form 1 seeking its removal and also mention his plans to modify the receiver by welding on a semi-auto shelf. One could then use his registered sear along with a new full auto bolt carrier and fire the weapon in full auto mode.
The writer neglected to mention these facts in his article which has prompted many comments concerning the legality of the weapon.

  • D Hicks October 13, 2014, 10:16 am

I was a Factory H K Dealer at one time , I had a video tape of H K testing the H K 91 93 and the 94. The weapons never failed, one view shows an HK 91 dropped in mud and then picked up and fire a 20 round mag with out jamming !German steel , and design.I doubt if this version would hold up to the real HK test. The H 94/ MP 5 were originally 9 M/M.

  • NFA October 13, 2014, 9:51 am

I believe you are 100% incorrect in asserting that registered sears can be used in this. My understanding is that there is a block to prevent a full auto bolt from being inserted. I was told this upon inquiry to Atlantic Firearms. I’d love to hear this is incorrect.

I also believe these are made on HK tooling – so I’m not sure what’s with all the haters above.

Finally, contrary to the assertions of a few, I doubt ISIS is using these – they’re too bogged down with all the U.S. weaponry we gave them. We should also be surprised Pakistan is willing to ship us any products while Obama bombs the crap out of their civilians.

    • jim October 13, 2014, 12:05 pm

As far as bombing civilians and willingness to sell to U.S., “business is business” If you ave a registered sear, you won’t need this pile of junk.

  • Ryan October 13, 2014, 9:41 am

Why is this guy looking around so much between shots? Is he paranoid or what? Why does he throw everything on the ground, like his earphones and the empty magazines, why doesn’t he just throw the gun in the dirt after he shoots it? Very strange video of a demonstration. Cool MP5 though.

    • J October 13, 2014, 1:23 pm

He is following through through scanning and assessing = basic fundamentals of shooting that every shooter should know. As far as the ear pro, he puts it on the ground because he is showing that the suppressor is low enough not to effect his hearing.

      • hondo October 13, 2014, 11:03 pm

Nah, It’s a homage to The Who.

      • hondo October 13, 2014, 11:06 pm

Nah, It’s a homage to The Who.

  • Dan October 13, 2014, 9:24 am

I cannot believe we even give this company the time of day….. If i am not mistaken they want to destroy the and kill all Americans….. Am I missing something…….Just lost all respect for GA…..

    • Tom October 14, 2014, 12:25 am

Same here Dan. It’s a damn shame that GunsAMERICA would ever plug ANYTHING from Pakistan.

    • Syed October 16, 2014, 5:16 pm

Sir, you are sadly mistaken. Pakistan army manufactures these weapons for sales to allied nations, and they still maintain symbiotic relations with the US military. Presently, A large contingent of the Pakistani army is engaged in the border areas with Afghanistan to clear that area of Taliban terrorists. They have lost more troops in the process than the US casualties in Afghanistan. Also, most Pakistanis look up to the egalitarian values of the United States and would love to emulate such values in their home country. Do not condemn what you do not understand. Have a nice day.

  • tom October 13, 2014, 9:21 am

I heard through the grapevine that the local PD in my city has been using Pak. MP5s for years with no probs. However, is it just me or does $1,500 bucks seem very expensive for a MP5 knock off semi automatic pistol?

    • Ray October 17, 2014, 1:31 pm

I’m surprised that there was no mention that the tooling used to make these is HK. POF was (is?) licensed by HK to make MP5’s.

  • Jim October 13, 2014, 9:15 am

    I DON’T GET IT!
People that buy semi auto machine guns (pardon the oxymoron) are the same people who buy fake suppressors. Why have a weapon that is nothing more than a bulky hard to shoot pistol? If you have a registered auto sear you most likely can afford or already have the real thing. Don’t try to convert illegally unless you plan on spending a lot of time in a Federal Penitentiary.
Also, a semi-auto SBR isn’t any fun either. If you think you look cool holding this or think you will have an advantage in a penis measuring club, then by all means, “go for it.”

  • Marlow October 13, 2014, 9:11 am

A good critique on a firearm now used by Muslim terrorists. Where do you think the real market is for this firearm? Don’t support this U.S. marketing effort by making a purchase that will benefit a company suppling firearms to fanatics who want to kill everything we respect and protect.

    • Syed October 16, 2014, 5:34 pm

Sir, it is very unfortunate of you to conflate the work done by dedicated and hard-working soldiers of Pakistan army with the fanaticism of Taliban terrorists. The Pakistan army is a professional fighting force that has often assisted their US allies during the cold-war and recently in curbing Taliban terrorism at home. They have lost several thousand men and thousands more Pakistani civilians have died in the spate of terrorism in Pakistan. Most people here love the United Sates, and admire and follow several developments coming from the West. This company strictly makes fire-arms for it’s military and also it’s allies including the United States, and for these arms to fall in the wrong hands would undo years of efforts on the home-front to bring a sense of normalcy and ridding terrorism. US and Pakistan enjoy mutually beneficial trade agreements that include sale of firearms and purchase of military equipment. Pakistan has freely bought Abram tanks from the US and no one objects to that. Pakistan has for decades purchased military hardware from the US, so why would you object to the sales of able fire-arms coming from Pakistan? Any trade agreement is mutually beneficial.

  • Gj October 13, 2014, 8:46 am

Ok.. So tell me where I can pick up an HK mp5k for $1500 and WILL DO..

  • J October 13, 2014, 7:50 am

Used these when deployed the ones we had were junk. Rounds kept jamming. For a paki made firearm the price is reall high but hey if you want to spend money on junk go for it. Do your research and price out similar firearms from well known firearms manufacturers such as HK, LWRC, etc.

  • jbowling07 October 13, 2014, 7:36 am

Tell me. Why are we supporting middle eastern countries like pakistan and turkey by purchasing weapons made there? These people hate us and are often involved in shuffling money to terrorists that kill our reporters, our troops and Christians of all nationalities. I just don’t understand. Can someone shed some light on this for me?

  • Dave October 13, 2014, 7:28 am

How can these be double pushpin guns that can accept SEF TRIGGErpacks? As opposed to the single pushpin guns with the shelf? That makes these receivers a newly manufactured machine gun.

  • Paul October 13, 2014, 7:10 am

Looks like the vendors of Darra in Afridi are still hammering out rail road rails left by the British. For that price, get the real thing! This is grossly overpriced! Good luck finding parts, you will without a doubt need them. Interchangability a gamble, so keep files and calipers in your cleaning kit. Every intelligent cell in me says stay clear of Pakicrap. Or you can always take your cash and toss it into the wood stove.

    • J October 13, 2014, 9:45 am

Paul, you are absolutely correct, these are junk and why buy a Pakicrap. Guess folks want the cool factor not the reliability and practical application of the firearm. My BB gun from Walmart is more reliable then this crap. I had a guy send me a smart arse comment when I gave my opinion. Funny I’ve used these and know they are junk, but people still doubt. We thought they would be good for self defense in a vehicle, but we soon realized they jammed too much, parts would get warped. This company is welling them for about 1500, they sell over in Pakistan for about $400…total JUNK.

  • Chopper Dan October 13, 2014, 6:50 am

I am pretty sure that the front push pin on the lower is a ATF no no. A semi auto MP5 is supposed to have a shelf welded on the upper and a fake clipped and pinned looking lower. With a push pin anyone can buy a FA lower and stick it on since the registered part of a mp5 is the upper unless you build your own as we do and any MP5 semi build is required to have that front shelf. If this is allowed on this import it’s no wonder why they are out of stock. It’s just a matter of time before the Feds figure out they goofed.

    • Mike October 13, 2014, 8:49 am

Are you referring to the hinged version that black market arms sell? I think the hinged front pin is the legal version, is that what your referring to?

  • Smith October 13, 2014, 6:14 am

    POF is an American Co.

    http://www.pof-usa.com/weapons.html

    • Senor Nobody October 13, 2014, 8:37 am

For which I’m sure that the Pakistani company is hoping for confusion among people and think that they are the same company.

      • Long Memory October 13, 2014, 12:33 pm

Actually, POF-USA got it’s start importing and selling HK parts made in Pakistan. They were the same POF.

Later, they came up with one of the first commercial piston systems and soon changed their name to “Patriot” to sound more american. I do not know if they even have any current contact with Pakistan, but it wasn’t Pakistan using THEIR name.

(In the same way LWRC was Leitner Weis Rifle Company until the guy disgraced the company, then they became Land Warfare or whatever.)

        • GQ1 November 29, 2014, 7:32 pm

“POF” stands for Pakistan Ordinance Factory.
It’s a good pistol with options, if you don’t like don’t buy it but let me have it.

    • tom October 13, 2014, 9:18 am

      Not the same POF

  • Bucky October 13, 2014, 5:40 am

I thought the price may be lower than the Asian or German version. I guess I was wrong. Great information on new firearms. Can not buy any of it though. I live in California.

    • GHEN October 13, 2014, 7:19 am

Not illegal to shoulder an arm brace anymore than it would be illegal to shoulder your Glock pistol while firing it.

  • Stanley October 13, 2014, 4:11 am

    Jacob,
    Thank you. Excellent objective assessment.
    One question, is this a 9…. .556?

    Thanks, stan

    • Nathan Hart October 13, 2014, 1:05 pm

Given the width of the magazine in the photos it’s a 9mm

  • Phillip October 13, 2014, 3:42 am

Don’t get excited, no need for a form one at all. Check out the two batfe letters released about the sig brace. According to the feds, there is no wrong way to shoot a pistol. ( Shouldering a glock does not make it an sbr)

  • Jonny October 13, 2014, 3:10 am

ATF said it was cool if you fire an arm brace from the shoulder, btw.

    http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/04/foghorn/breaking-atf-confirms-firing-ar-15-pistol-shoulder-ok/

  • Jorge October 13, 2014, 2:53 am

Do you notice any change in suppression from having the osprey upside down? Might have to do that with mine

  • Denny Chevalier October 13, 2014, 2:39 am

How much are they and who handles them?

    • William October 13, 2014, 1:39 pm

      $1500 , Atlantic Arms (importer)

  • pingpong28 October 7, 2014, 3:31 am

I have tried to track down one, which is impossible to find. They are even out of stock on the Atlantic Firearms web site. Hopefully they get more in stock soon. If not this review is not worth much, basically it would be like the mythical unicorn.

    • Jack October 13, 2014, 10:49 am

Check out “Sportsmans Guide” I’ve bought one for my AK-47Pistol& my AR-15 pistol , or you can go straight to KAK.com and get the buffer tube , brace, 3″ extension if needed & your letter from the ATF stating that this is a brace not a stock. You can shoulder it or strap it on , it’s still classified as a brace .Its a blast , have fun, you won’t be able to wipe the smile off your face! These other people complaining about it obviously have never used one, be sure to take alot of ammo with you, your gonna need it ! Happy shooting !

  • John October 6, 2014, 4:40 pm

Unless you guys form-1’ed that thing you might want to take down the pictures of that guy shouldering your arm brace. Cool pistol btw.

    • Jorge October 13, 2014, 2:51 am

its amazing that people still don’t know that it’s 100% legal to shoulder the arm brace, per ATF. I wish people would do a little research before commenting.

      • KnuckleHead February 2, 2015, 5:45 pm

        Not any more

        • Wolf March 17, 2015, 12:12 pm

          Technically, yes.
The ATF issued an Opinion Letter, not a policy letter. It holds no weight. But if you are a stickler for the rules, hold it to your cheek or your pectoral. Wear a shirt. The brace is not touching the shoulder, but your shirt.

    • Vin October 13, 2014, 2:53 am

You can shoulder the brace according to the ATF. It’s completely legal.

    • Kyle hayes October 13, 2014, 3:12 am

After the creation of those braces, The ATF has ruled that there was no illegal way to fire a pistol, even shouldered with the arm brace as long as it was a factory made brace made with the “intentions” of being strapped to the arm, if you fire it from the shoulder, it’s perfectly legal.. even if you lengthen the buffer tube.

    • tom October 13, 2014, 3:51 am

Actually, the BATF has concluded that shouldering an arm brace like that does not violate any laws.

    • Joe October 13, 2014, 4:54 am

In the past your comment concerning the form 1 would be accurate however recently the ATF has a published position on the Sig arm brace which is pretty interesting. Shouldering this item would not change its classification as an arm brace. The link is here:

I generally don’t waste my time feeding trolls, but your response is priceless. You have managed to prove yourself completely ignorant of the topic, as well as proving that your mental capacity is severely diminished. If you plan to start name calling people on the internet, from the safety and comfort of your armchair, at least of the decency to understand the difference between you’re, your, and you are. Also, being able to formulate a sentence like an adult would be advisable as well. I really wish we could revoke internet access. You’re the best example of why not all people should be able to speak.

Amen…you beat me to the punch. I was constructing a similar redirection from the irrelevant argument on the arm brace.
Pakistan has harbored terrorists and unless you can 100% be assured that these funds never have a chance at funding our enemy, I wouldn’t send a penny in exchange for a fake MP5.

FYI!POF has been making MP5’s and G-3’s under license from H&K for years for the Pakistan Army. It is until recently, POF has launched this civilian version for the commercial market.

and it is not clone. It is a real deal with quality.

      • Syed October 16, 2014, 5:50 pm

Sir, with all due respect, they the Pakistanis) are not the enemy. Even if someone aided the enemy, you cannot condemn 180 million people based on the actions of a few rotten apples. Secondly, Pakistanis buy/use several American made or branded products i.e Mcdonalds, Pizza Hut, Nike, Hollywood movies, Abram tanks, Times/Newsweek, watch CNN, FOX, etc with no hatred or thought of where it comes from as long as it applicable to their taste buds, their intellect, Homeland security or their aspiration of global values. A portion of your US dollars spent on Pakistani products helps the Government exchequer in funding essential government services which creates goodwill for the people of the United States. Kindly, do not spread hate, because it is easier to love than it is to hate and spread hate. Have a nice day and enjoy good health.

People like you are disgusting, xenophobic pricks that ruin this country.

      • iamagashman November 24, 2014, 5:52 am

the Chinese, Russian, or hell… half of the world thinks of the USA as the enemy, yet we still trade with them. anyone here think it’s just them out to make a quick buck? buy an SKS for how much? buy a Romanian AKM for how much?

reminds me of a story about the used car dealer when he spots a 17 year old kid looking at an old beatup chevy camaro. well bubba, he can see where that kid is coming from a mile away, and the poor sucker never knew what hit him!

        • loupgarous December 9, 2014, 9:10 am

Romania’s been our friend and ally ever since they ditched the Ceacescus.

      • Phroso December 26, 2014, 9:25 pm

You are wrong and ignorant of the facts. I assume you a government hating neocon? If you hate the government so much, think its incompetent, etc. why do you believe the stories and lies it tells you? From 911 to Iraq war 2.0 to OBL killed in Pakistan hoax?

Despite of failed and false war forced on Pakistan and its neighboring Afghanistan, Pakistan has done MORE in fighting the terror than any other country. Even the NATO countries could only muster 10k or so soldiers for the Afghan mission. Pakistan had over 120 soldiers deployed, just on the western border, even with Indian threat looming on the eastern border. Pakistan killed and captured more AL-qaeda and Taliban militants. Pakistan gave its air strips and air rights to US for flights. As a result, what did Pakistan get? ruined infrastructure because of NATO supply trucks, over 50,000 people dead because of US/India supported TTP and other extremist groups? Over 5000 dead troops? Because of the illegal war?

Where is rule of law? Where are the facts? Where is justice? Pakistan has always done more, more than its share.

and last but not least , SHAME ON GUNS AMERICA FOR PUSHING ANYTHING OUT OF PAKISTAN TO AMERICAN GUN BUYERS.They are the enemy period .

      • Administrator October 13, 2014, 4:58 pm

Why don’t you go do your homework before condemning anybody. Old white men in suits are your enemy. That you are foolish enough to believe the media this far into the game says more about you than it says about anything.

        • all american88 October 14, 2014, 5:12 am

I am an old white man and now and then in a suit, what makes you think we are anyone’s enemy. I am 100% American, Cherokee indian for the most part. Is there something that makes you think I am any other american’s enemy. I probably have 5 times more guns than you will ever see except online or in books, I am your enemy ? Look again before you open your dumb ass mouth and show your ignorance.

        • Crosslay October 14, 2014, 11:43 am

Admin…the responsibility in journalism is to also think a few steps ahead of the reader and cover your bases. Predict the responses and emotions any given writing will provoke. It’s ok to make a mistake or error in judgment, we all do, but snapping back with a petulant response telling somebody that they should do their homework is a little ironic in the case, isn’t it? All Americans that are paying the least amount of attention to what’s been going on in the Middle East the last 15 years should! Right?
Here’s some research to chew on.

Thank you Guns America for advertising a Pakistani product. It is sad to read all the negative comments in this thread for a fairly good weapon. Well, any high quality product, especially coming for a least understood country is bound it gather criticism. But please base your critiques on the functionality of the product and kindly do not denigrate the manufacturing country. Best Regards.

    • Rob October 13, 2014, 8:35 pm

I can’t get behind any gun company that is from Pakistan, regardless of how good it is. You do realize that the Pakistani government, who claims to be our “ally,” was safely harboring Bin Laden for years on end and they would not cooperate with our government on his whereabouts. I’m sure in some way shape or form that the money that purchases these firearms is getting back to the government of Pakistan, and in the end supporting terrorists. Shameful that Americans would buy these weapons.
