Despite the gun control law he just signed and the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision, President Joe Biden told the nation we want more gun control. He wants to ban guns.
President Biden demanded Congress reinstate the failed 1994 Assault Weapons Ban to usher in a new era of strict gun control to deny law-abiding citizens their Second Amendment rights.
“We’re living in a country awash in weapons of war,” the president said, according to Fox News. “I am determined to ban these weapons again, and high capacity magazines that hold 30 rounds, and let mass shooters fire hundreds of bullets in a matter of minutes. I’m not going to stop until we do it.”
That’s the same 10-year federal ban on both Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs) and magazines with a carrying capacity over 10 cartridges that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) concluded did little to nothing to reduce crime. The Department of Justice (DOJ) found in their own assessment that renewing the “impact on gun violence is likely to be small at best, and perhaps too small for reliable measurement.” That’s because the DOJ’s annual Uniform Crime Report (UCR) consistently shows that murders from all rifles – not just MSRs – are less than that of murders committed with knives, clubs and fists. Even the left-leaning Politifact rated this “Mostly True” after parsing the data and noted that some murder reports don’t include the type of weapon used in a murder.
Facts and the Constitution be damned. President Biden wants his failed solution back and he wants it now.
Ignore & Deflect
It’s not surprising that the president is demanding it. NSSF warned it was coming back in 2019, when then-candidate Biden said from the debate stage, “Our enemy is the gun manufacturers, not the NRA, the gun manufacturers.”
President Biden, speaking in The White House Rose Garden, claimed the recent Bipartisan Safer Communities Act was “real progress, but more has to be done.” He blamed the firearm industry for indifference, saying, “We all know a lot of the reasons: gun lobby, gun manufacturers, special interest money, the rise of hyper-partisan tribal politics in the country where we don’t debate the issues on the merits and we just rather turn on each other from our corners and attack the other side.”
That ignores the reality. The firearm industry has been leading on bringing true gun safety to the forefront. The Real Solutions. Safer Communities® campaign includes Department of Justice (DOJ) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) partnerships to prevent illegal straw purchases and improve security at firearm retailers. The firearm industry’s Project ChildSafe® initiative has provided over 40 million free firearm safety kits – including locking devices – for over 15,000 law enforcement agencies in all 50 states and five U.S. territories. It was NSSF’s leadership on FixNICS® that inspired the Fix NICS Act, which compelled federal agencies and incentivized states to submit all disqualifying records to the FBI so the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) is accurate.

The president ignores that. Instead, he spreads fear and fumbles through facts. He claimed, “A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body.” That followed his previous demands that 9 mm handguns – among the most popular sold today – should also be banned.
Now, Vice President Kamala Harris is pushing for a ban on any firearm that’s “intentionally designed to kill.” A remarkable statement coming from a lawyer who served as her state’s attorney general and on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. Perhaps she hasn’t had time to read the Bruen decision in which the Supreme Court held – again – that the Second Amendment protects the pre-existing right to keep and bear arms for self-defense.
Not So Fast
The Biden administration is ignoring the fact that Americans – of all races, creeds, colors and all walks of life – are purchasing firearms in record numbers. Over 14 million Americans purchased a firearm for the first time in 2020 and 2021. Background checks for the sale of a gun shattered previous records in 2020 at over 21 million. Another 18.5 million were completed in 2021. For 35 months straight, there have been over 1 million background checks for gun sales.
A recent NPR/Ipsos poll showed that not even half of gun owners would entertain the idea of a ban on MSRs.
“This NPR/Ipsos survey of American gun owners… harbor deep distrust of government suggesting the barriers that exist to more actions on guns,” said Ipsos senior vice president Chris Jackson.
Jerone Davis, an African American pastor running for Congress in Arizona, released a television ad showing why Americans need the choice to protect themselves and their families with MSRs.
“Democrats like to say that nobody needs an AR-15 for self-defense, that no one could possibly need all 30 rounds,” Davis explains in the video according to Fox News. “But when this rifle is the only thing standing between your family and a dozen angry Democrats in Klan hoods, you just might need that semi-automatic, and all 30 rounds.”
President Biden wants to eliminate that choice. Vice President Harris wants anything that could kill to be banned. The guns are the first part. The real control is you.

My neighbor lady (mid-fifties) showed up in her car naked. She was raving and out of her mind, my wife and I were unprepared for this encounter. We gave her a shirt and shorts. She had her purse and later we found out she had a Glock 17.
We called 911 and the police and ambulance came and got her. A week later she is back home and the police returned her gun to her.
I can hear her now, shouting profanities that will go on for hours.
I wish I could file off the tip of her firing pin.
I’m conflicted, she’s obviously sick and I feel bad for her. But she may be dangerous to us. If she comes up here dressed or not I’m calling the police and she will be met with my weapon.
My question is: will a red flag law work with her? Or is there some other existing procedure? In NV.

Hey Obama, it’s much easier to buy illegal drugs than legal guns. Democrats want to limit magazine size so less people will be killed in an attack. So only 10 kids will die instead of 15. I don’t think the parents of the 10 kids who died will be happy with that solution. Maybe we should start protecting school children like we do for politicians. The same politicians that want to repeal the 2A. THINK ABOUT IT.
I’m not sure why people who write these articles call gun control a failure. It accomplishes the ultimate goal of authoritarians; a week, impotent populace.
Even more telling is the fact that almost the entirety of the so-called pro-2nd community is deathly afraid to speak of the true purpose of the 2nd; to carry on the implementation of Article I, § 8, Cls. 15&16. I would say it is outright cowardice. No point because I can’t say it to the face of those who think they are patriots by spouting out about how they’ll ruse to the occasion.
How do you hold a government in check if you refuse to use the tool that the Framers placed conspicuously in the original Constitution? Face the facts! The so-called pro-2nd community want nothing to do with truth and justice. If they did, all that be needed was to start the process of demanding that their State legislature reinstate the LAWFUL operational statutes of the militia.
In fact, I’m not calling for violence. Just the opposite. Because as sure as this will fall on deaf ears, unless we bring back the militia, to which the Framers of the Constitution placed the ultimate authority “to execute the Laws of the Union”, we, or sadly our children will be looking into the face of violence perpetrated by the State. It will be so vicious that they will curse our names for allowing it to happen.
Take a good look at England where violent crime is much higher than the U.S.. Then take a look over at Australia where people are being brutalized by police.

The hyperbole on both sides needs to stop if we are to reduce gun-related deaths. Three days is not enough time for a background check. We absolutely need red flag laws and better management of and information in databases used for background checks. These things are opposed by many on the rabid right. The rhetoric in the comments here often reads like a radicalist’s dream and really does resemble a blood-thirsty mob.

Seriously, the best that the President can come up with is the ban. I am all in favor of stricter gun control ( make it across the board 21 or older to purchase a firearm (rifle, pistol, shotgun), get these woosie judges to quit hangi ng out lighter sentences (whatever happened to do the crime, do the time), I am a firearms owner and former police officer and military. Place more emphansis on mental health, the FBI is suppose to be the premier law enforcement agency in the world, get them to do their job, sniff out these extremeists, that are willing to gun down a mass crowd, and put there butts in jail.
