President Obama: ‘No, I Haven’t Given up’ on Gun Control

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors S.H. Blannelberry This Week

ABC Breaking US News | US News Videos

President Barack Obama has not given up on enacting laws that restrict the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners.

In an interview with ABC News’s Dr. Richard Besser, Obama admitted that he will continue to do whatever he can to roll back one’s right to keep and bear arms.

“What we’ve done is to try to do as much as we could administratively to tighten up how background checks are run, to go after illegal drug runners,” President Obama said during the interview at Howard University. “But I will tell you that trying to get something through Congress has proven to be very difficult. And it’s heart-breaking.”

Besser asked Obama about the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School and how his administration failed to galvanize lawmakers to pass gun control in the wake of that tragedy.

“You know, those two or three days after the Sandy Hook shooting are some of the worst days of my presidency because I met those families right after,” Obama said. “And you’re talking about 6-year-olds who were just systematically murdered. And that may be one of the few times where I was just shocked that Congress didn’t act.”

Obama explained how much of the resistance to tougher gun laws comes from the nation’s gun lobby.

“But the power of NRA and the gun lobby in Congress is formidable,” Obama said. “And you know, we’re going to keep chipping away at this, but until you get intense public demands for this, it’s probably not going to happen because some special interests and lobbyists in Washington are really, really strong and their membership feels very intensely about the issue. Whereas the general public is concerned about it, but doesn’t make it their top priority.”

The truth does hurt and unfortunately, the only reasonable resolve is to alter our constitution by amendment to outlaw any political party; this would allow us to begin utilizing inductive reasoning in our Government. More guns would have been a good thing if they were in the hands of good people at the time of the New York or Virginia school massacres. Would have saved some, if not all, of our children and teachers killed or wounded there. Brain-washing continues today and causes one faith group’s attempts to outdo the others’; Gods against god, other gods, etc. I like the friendly “dragon in my garage”. Bing or google him up… It’s uplifting and glorifies truth. No elected President has the right to alter and install any new laws in our country without authorization from our Congress. Law is law until properly changed. President Clinton was wrong and we do not want to entertain such a thing happening again in this country.

He said he hasn’t given up going after illegal drug runners. Does that mean the legal drug runners are OK to carry on? Why are drugs even mentioned in answer to the reporters question? Trying to lump us gun owners in with them?

  • Mikey April 14, 2015, 11:18 am

I guess he only cares about children once their born, prior to that he’s ok with them being killed…

  • Michael Crain April 14, 2015, 12:18 am

What our legislators need to stop and think about is the fact that WE are the NRA and there are also millions of people not members of the NRA that also vote against legislators who try to pas restrictive laws against LEGAL, LAW ABIDING gun owners! I don’t think the NRA has been against any sensible laws. In fact they have tried to help get some passed if I recall. Just because you don’t agree with the fact that we’re against stupid laws doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to pass ones that will actually help the problem. Think about it.

  • buffalochip April 13, 2015, 10:35 pm

This SOB is the greatest gun salesman in the history of the nation, and yet he has the presumption and audacity to raise his pipsqueak voice and wonder aloud as to why that might be, and why the good citizenry isn’t willing to just roll over and turn its firearms over to him.

    Just remarkable, simply remarkable …

  • wolfpack-bravo April 13, 2015, 6:33 pm

I get that he is the worst President we have ever had, and also one of the farthest left. But strangely I’m no even worried about him anymore. I worry that this country is actually stupid enough to elect Hillary in 2016!
Stock up on lead now while you can.

Beyond this bozo piece of human excrement making me want to puke, I know that he is just a puppet, a little piece of nothing puppet but I know he has not the balls or the courage, nor the character to even think of doing this himself, he has to hide behind his puppet character, with strings being pulled like a useless ragtag, and send others to do the real work. If this coward this sissy little piece of crap really believed in gun control , he would be knocking on the doors trying to take them away. So if the time comes do such unlawful things like gun control he will send goons and hide in a cave like the little homo sissy puke he is.

“What we’ve done is to try to do as much as we could administratively to tighten up how background checks are run, to go after illegal drug runners,”

Does he mean the ones that were provided by his administration through “Fast and Furious”? And if not, What do drug runners have to do with legally armed citizens?

  • Keith April 13, 2015, 10:27 am

Soon the world will be rid of this Dictator In Chief from Kenya (acronym sorely applicative), however a more dangerous precedence has been set in such that should the “acting” President not wish to abide by checks and balances the Legislative and Judiciary branches are desgned for and meant to afford the American People, he/she can EO almost anything and a limp-wristed Congress and self-serving SCOTUS won’t have the intestinal fortitude nor power to over-rule anything decreed by a new Dictatorship. It’s well proven by the several states’ attempt to define “Marriage” through state amendments that the term, “We the People” means nothing to elected officials nor to judiciary members of government (which hold contempt for such a concept of people rule); are we so naive to think basic Second Amendment rights mean anything sacred to those?
Call me skeptic, but I have no confidence in self-serving minions of government to protect anything of mine.
The use of Sandy Hook to push gun control upon the law-abiding doesn’t make sense because, had there been lawfully armed persons at the school and the deranged gunman realized he would risk encountering deadly resistance, the outcome would have very likely been different.

    • Truth Hurts April 13, 2015, 12:05 pm

It’s so pathetic how you whine about your rights being infringed upon when you then support the fascist kkkristians in their attempts to deny the rights of others. Marriage is not owned by the kkkristian idiocracy. It is not yours to control. It is not up to the masses to decide the civil rights of others. The states would not have the power to bring back slavery, even if the majority of the state wanted it. This is a republic where the rights of all are protected from religious fascists such as yourself. You’ll call judges activists if they make a ruling you don’t agree with, while not being able to fully understand how your actions are completely unconstitutional.

        Somebody needs a nap !~!!

      • Keith April 21, 2015, 12:07 pm

LOL!! You rant like a second-grader and exhibit comprehension skills of lesser. 🙂
Apparently you’ve little clue what “fascist” means – if you knew, you’d realize there’s an authoritarian governing select few who are forcing persons, who’ve always known and understood the definition of a word to be something specific, to bastardize it to include those who simply aren’t qualified to wear the term and noone is allowed to object to or differ in their opinions or interpretations. It has absolutely nothing to do with infringement upon the civil rights of those minoritive segments of society – entirely quite the opposite. But, since you demonstrate such loose interpretation of “fascist”, it’s understandable that to you, likewise the term, “marry” has no real specific interpretation.
Personally, I don’t object to those who desire a SS relationship so long as the term is used to describe their union isn’t marriage – but to bastardize a word to incluse those who aren’t qualified to employ the long-held meaning simply because those feel “discriminated” against is absurd. In similar parity – I’m not a “Veteran”, but because I or others who aren’t could be offended that we don’t qualify for benefits or honor, how about let’s bastardize its meaning so I and others won’t “FEEL” discriminated against? Point being? Words have definitions for a reason, unless you’re like a certain Bill who stated, “It depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is…”
Aside from that, and leaving that topic alone, the point of the original comment was since EO’s have been employed without any resistance or objection offered from equal branches of the Triune Government or the muddled masses, and since a majority’s voting for anything can be overturned by a handful of judges who believe they’re beyond reproach, we can expect these actions to become more frequently employed trends when the designed checks and balances of government don’t work with future Presidents’ or judges’ agendas, and for the discussion at hand, which is gun control and ever-creeping infringement upon the lawfully armed, rights of the people and the Constitution’s protections will have simply become a relic of antiquity under a new FASCIST regime. (there’s the proper use of your fav term, my friend…)

  • D April 13, 2015, 10:23 am

Obama – YOU set the example of giving up guns by having YOUR secret service give them up. Why do they need them? Your saying the people don’t need them……………I guess you DO live in a fantasy world!

  • DanF. April 13, 2015, 10:11 am

No, Obummer and his cohorts have not given up their quest to gut the Second Amendment. But on a brighter note, that deal he just cut with (“Death to America”) Iran will keep the world safe for democracy–he said so, didn’t he? And our Pres. wouldn’t lie–would he?

  • John April 13, 2015, 10:04 am

He has the same old view on this subject like so many other liberals. They still think controlling the tool that killers use will somehow solve the problem. If we do not have guns then we will also have rubber kitchen knives. One can only take weapons from those who are abiding by the laws they dream up. The law that makes it illegal to kill is not working, so if those people do not follow that law why would follow a law that says they cannot have a gun? As we know if all legal gun making was gone then we would have more guns made in underground shops mostly ones that would be in the wrong hands. Laws do not solve all problems.

  • John Carver April 13, 2015, 9:44 am

President Obama and the other left wing nuts who disregard the United States Constitution under which they swore and oath to obey should be impeached for not following that oath of office. Our founding fathers put these laws into effect in order to keep someone from becoming a dictator and destroying America. The Second Amendment is in place to allow the people to keep arms in order to turn on an evil government or hostile country trying to remove our rights and way of life and freedom of democracy. We have laws and ways to deal with the nut cases who use guns for killing innocent women, children, and men. We have courts of law to put away those that are out to harm free Americans. We do not need a Big Government to come in between free Americans and the Constitution in order to gain control and change the American way of life. True Americans need to use their rights to vote to vote out all the left wing and right wing nut cases who do not uphold the United States Constitution. Those people who wish to live under such laws and beliefs that defile the U.S. should move to countries that honor their sick beliefs and live under dictators who will provide for them as long as they do what that government wants them to do.

    • Truth Hurts April 13, 2015, 12:00 pm

While we’re at it, throw out any state or federal representatives that support any mis-named ‘Religious Liberty’ bills that allow for flat out discrimination and the stripping away of rights of hard working, honest, tax-paying American citizens and infringing upon the religious rights of others who don’t embrace the hate of the kkkristian delusion.

If you don’t like this POS’s approach towards our Constitutional rights think what Billary’s approach would look like given the crap we had to go through when her husband with a stroke of a pen denied us the right to purchase an imported semi automatic mag fed rifle.

  • Mark L. Benjamin April 13, 2015, 8:51 am

The greatest violence facing our children is Pres. Obama’ presence in the White House.

  • Carl April 13, 2015, 6:50 am

He never stops. He discusses how after Sandy Hook he wanted Congress to act. What he disregards and resists and chastises is our rights as free law abiding Americans. There are strict back round checks in place right now! Always have been.Obama feels if he can control something he knows best.He overreaches constantly with Ferderal oversight and intervention and we end up with slower more expensive and restrictive choices-health insurance being the obvious disaster he implemented. The Democrats always want to intervene into our lives-get lost-focus on lowering taxes, shrinking government and leave us alone!Especially when it comes to an already laborious process of purchasing a firearm. The man in Sandy Hook,STOLE the guns and killed his mother before going to a gun free zone and committing those heinous acts.

    • Truth Hurts April 13, 2015, 11:56 am

You’re an idiot if you think the Rethuglikkkan party is for “shrinking government”. The party has been usurped by fascist theocrats that are working hard against the rights of women and non-kkkristians. They are doing more to destroy this country than the left-leaning socialists. Mike Judge could be considered a prophet. Amerikka has turned into his idiocracy…..thanks largely to the IQ challenged kkkristians.

      • Damon April 13, 2015, 5:26 pm

        Truth

When the Republican Party stood for limited government and fiscal conservation, I could identify. Since the advent of the hijacked Tea Party movement, I cannot. I have no interest in living under theocratic law, Sharia, or the supposedly more “benevolent” Christian brand. To a man who follows his own belief system, they look suspiciously similar, and particularly odious in a nation ruled by secular law.

The Democrats are no prize either. It’s time to move away from the two-party political system. For the sake of our nation.

      • Dewey April 13, 2015, 11:01 pm

Come on man, you can’t really expect to win over “believers” with truth and logic. These people are not capable of critical thought. You’re spot-on about Idiocracy. It’s not so much a comedy as it is a documentary.
