The Problem is Black People? – Inner City Gun Violence, Obama, Bloomberg & China

Gun crime statistics can be wrangled to say a lot of things that aren't true. Our patron saint John Lott appears on the news a lot, but he only defends guns. A recent article blaming gun violence on black people is almost as bad as blaming it on the guns themselves. It would be great if the problem were simple and easy to solve, but gun violence in our inner cities is a difficult problem with difficult answers.

Gun crime statistics can be wrangled to say a lot of things that aren’t true.

I absolutely boil over when I see yet another fool blame gun violence on black people. It is almost as bad as blaming it on the guns themselves. The latest story being linked to by the “alternative media” is by Karl Denninger, for his The Market Ticker website entitled “The Real Gun Violence Issue.” After poking fun at a couple anecdotal stories meant to expose the complete disregard for human life by inner city black people, Mr. Denninger makes a completely undocumented statement about gun violence:

“Indeed, if you take out black-on-black homicide in the major cities from our so-called “blood-red streets” that Bloomberg and others claim as our emblem of “endemic gun violence” you find that something like three quarters of all gun murders disappear.”

The underline is his, and no, it isn’t a hotlink to some kind of statistical evidence, though he seems to know how to link because he linked out to the stories about the shootings. Then, after noting that our current President is in fact black (actually only ½), Mr. Denninger meanders into a vague conclusion that if somehow we didn’t allow the criminalization of drugs with “racist” propaganda, somehow all of these problems wouldn’t exist. He also wanders into blaming the ills of gun violence on alcohol and prescription opiates…I think.

If there is a point to the article, and you have to look pretty hard to find one, I guess his point would be that if we just give black people easy access to what are now illegal drugs, and make our black President admit that black people are shooting each other in disproportionate numbers, they wouldn’t shoot each other anymore? Could this somehow be the magic bullet to end gun violence?

This is exactly the kind of thinking that brands gun rights activists as racist. It would be really convenient if we could just change one thing in America and magically end all the crime and killing in our inner cities. But unfortunately human nature is not that simple, and no matter what, there are always people who are willing to do bad things in order to sustain themselves. I remember back in the 80s that people were making counterfeit collectible Beanie Babies. Beanie Babies for heavens sake!! The drug trade and its inherent violence are a by-product of almost a completely lack of opportunity in our inner cities. And much like the people selling illegal Beanie Babies knew that they shouldn’t be doing that but did it anyways, the drug dealers don’t have a lot of opportunity that will give them the things they want and need in life. With drugs there is just a lot more money involved, so people are willing to do even worse and worse things, including killing their fellow man.

“The War on Drugs,” the ever expanding militarized police state, and our broken legal system are indeed problems. Most gun crime is generated by recidivist felons who have been let out. But those are symptoms. The problem itself is about opportunity, or a lack thereof, and if you want to boil it down to black people, like Mr. Denninger, since before the Civil Rights movement of the 60s, black people have been cheated out of the American Dream by a margin of 2 to 1. Measuring unemployment data , which is consistently 2 to 1 blacks against whites, food stamp data, also showing 2 to 1. And disproportionately, again, 2 to 1, the percentage of blacks trapped in the inner cities it becomes clear that just pointing a finger at black gun crime just isn’t fair. None of these trends have changed in the last 50 years, regardless of the color of the president.

Gun crime statistics can be looked at many ways, stressing different variables. If you have read the excellent book by John Lott called “More Guns Less Crime,” it is only the beginning to understand the anti-gunner wrangling that keeps the public somewhat ignorant to the fact that every law abiding American should own and preferably carry a gun. John has gone on to write many other books and has become a talking head on the state run media. His Crime Prevention Research Center is where you will find his current work.

And you read correctly by the way. I said EVERY law abiding American should own and carry a gun. Those who need guns the most are black people in our inner cities, but unfortunately they have the ones that the anti-gunners have fought the hardest to disarm. Most Americans, of all colors and creeds, are law abiding and only want a good life with a good job and opportunity. Nobody ever dreams of drug slinging on the streets one bullet away from either the grave or the jailhouse. But for the many of the most ambitious and promising of inner city black people, that is where they end up.

The black leadership couldn’t care less how much blood runs on the streets of our inner cities. Have you seen the video “Black Folk Don’t Join the NRA?” They don’t join the NRA because all of their politicians, and nearly all of their public voices (like this “BlackPublicMedia.Org” that made this ridiculous video), brainwash them into thinking that the “gun culture” is a white man’s world in which they don’t belong. “Victim Culture” is where they end up instead. I won’t go on a long rant about race traitors (and being an orthodox Jew I know all about that), because gun statistics and race baiting is not my point. But please do yourself a favor and read Thomas Sowell’s excellent Washington Times article “The Race Hustlers Among Us.” It explains why the income of immigrant Asians surpasses that of native whites in America, and why blacks are held back from that feat by their own leaders. Thomas Sowell is a black professor and something of a philosopher. Read his stuff and see if you don’t think that he is in your top ten of the smartest people ever.

If you have to nail the inner city violence problem on one thing, it has to be the export of our manufacturing jobs to China. Nearly every industrial city in America has been decimated by a mass exodus of manufacturing from here to overseas, or more accurately, to China. I found an interesting PDF article from Yale, written by none other than a Federal Reserve board member, explaining that as of 2007, manufacturing jobs had sunk to 13.7 million, down from 19.6 million in in 1979. More than half of those jobs were lost after 2000, when we gave China a favored nation status permanently. I also found a 2012 number from the National Association of Manufacturers that claims “just over 12 million” manufacturing jobs for that year. What parts of the US did nearly all of these millions of jobs disappear from? Mostly in the inner cities, which remember, include black people disproportionately 2 to 1.

And how does our anti-gun freedom fighting villain Michael Bloomberg fit into all of this? Yes, you read that right. Michael Bloomberg is directly involved in engineering a way to keep black people enslaved to a permanent victim of violence culture in our inner cities. Back in 2002, Bloomberg dismantled the school boards of the New York City school systems and took control of all of public schools as a sole dictator. Officially there was a board, but he appointed a majority of the members. Since that time, rather than fix the public schools, Bloomberg has elected to either close them or force them to share space with privately run charter schools financed by his rich chronies. If you are a fan of the corporate privatization film “Waiting for Superman,” you have to watch the documentary, “The Inconvenient Truth Behind Waiting for Superman.” You see, Bloomberg needs dead black people on the streets of the inner cities so he can push his gun control agenda, and crappy schools that suck public money into private pockets is just the combination that makes that happen, for the foreseeable future.

It is the ignorance of writers like Denninger (and the idiots who say they are smart ALEX JONES) that portray 2nd Amendment supports as a bunch of narrow minded racist fools. Yes, black-on-black crime does account for a great deal of gun violence in America. But legalizing drugs to sedate ourselves with isn’t the answer (though legalizing some drugs does have many other benefits in taking the wind out of the overall police state). People with no legitimate opportunity will seek illegitimate opportunity, whether it be selling crack or selling fake Beanie Babies. And because black people find themselves disproportionately in inner cities, unemployed and poorly educated, the import culture of American manufacturing has hit them especially hard, and this is reflected in violent crime rates, including firearm violent crime rates.

Karl Denninger seems to be implying that Barack Obama is some kind of race loyalist by refusing to call out the high percentage of black-on-black gun crimes. I say he is a race traitor (or ½ of one). Everyone knows you don’t treat a disease by treating the symptoms. Usually you just make things worse. In the case of denying hard working and law abiding inner city blacks their G-d given and 2nd Amendment guaranteed right to own and carry guns, the anti-gunners, including Barack Obama and most of the black leaders, are making that problem worse. They are creating a permanent victim culture in our inner cities and the Michael Bloomberg led privatization of our schools is making it impossible to break the cycle.

It is time that we stopped pointing fingers at each other and start pointing fingers at the powers that keep us apart. It is also time that we say enough is enough to China, and put tariffs on their goods like they do to ours. As every pool of blood and spent shell casings on the streets of our inner cities can attest, free trade has failed. Bring back jobs, bring back opportunity, and the violence will ebb. Fix our public schools with the public money that they take from us in taxes, not with new taxes. And let law abiding Americans in our inner cities, regardless of how much melanin they have in their skin, have open access to inexpensive firearms. Blaming gun violence on the guns, or on black people, or on some combination of the two, is just more false bullshit for the bullshit pile heap that they try to feed us every day on the news. American can be great again. Pick a team, arm yourself, and prepare for war. A new American Revolution is afoot.

How do you fix it? Only GFL can fix this problem in society. God through education and morality; Family through a wedded father and mother family unit; and Love in teaching everyone to to treat others as they would like to be treated themselves.

The black homicide rate without guns is three times the non-black homicide rate with guns. Guns are not the problem. The cause lies with liberal support of illegitimacy that has created a third world culture of feral young men who never gained self respect and cannot tolerate disrespect. Disrespect during arguments is the single largest cause of homicides. The black homicide rate is more than six times the non-black homicide rate using all weapons. We could save more than 5,000 black lives every year if we could somehow get the black homicide rate down to the non-black homicide rate and this starts with increasing two parent families and the love and guidance from fathers. More than half of all homicides are committed by about 7 percent of the population. This fact has hardened police attitudes towards young black men. Then the riots in Ferguson after a policeman shot a big black man who was in a contest for his gun has put decent blacks at a disadvantage. The consequences for the white police officer has sent the message to law enforcement to disengage from the black communities and let them kill themselves.

where did this stat come from ? I have never heard this

‘None of these trends have changed in the last 50 years’. Irony reigns. Do the math and 50 years takes you back to the resultant aftermath of Johnson’s “Great Society”, the beginnings of rampant entitlements and the ultimate subjugation of the black in America.
Add that to Clinton’s NAFTA and GATT implementations, after his giving China ‘Favored Nation Status’, and one can see where the plight of blacks increased exponentially. Credit Clinton with mandating those on welfare to work for their welfare dole, a law recently de-toothed by Obama, unfortunately allowing the ‘entitled’ to sit back and do nothing for their tax-dollar freebies.
John Smiths’ “Those who don’t work don’t eat” mandate made simple sense, something sorely missing in todays society. As with Rome, their ‘bread and circuses’ (read todays welfare and mindless gameplay, i.e. professional sports and electronics) were the portents of things to come. We don’t learn from history, and are thus bound to repeat it. The death knell has been sounded and I, for one, will be glad I won’t be alive to witness it.
Truly, truly a shame for a country once proud.

What part of the DOJ statistics don’t you understand? Blacks commit crimes – all crimes including gun crimes – at rates 5 times higher than whites NO MATTER WHAT THE ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCE OR DENSITY OF POPULATION.

Take any census tract and you will find those with whites have gun deaths on par with the most strict gun control countries in Europe: 1 per 100,000. Those tracts with majority black approach the same levels as third world countries 20 per 100,000.

Now, here’s something that will fry your last synapse: if you overlay voting patterns on census tracts you’ll find those that voted for Obama by more than 70% have the highest gun violence.

Apparently the vague and pointless medicated masses just don’t get it that we don’t need statistics to know that the black neighborhoods in the inner cities are riddled with crime. Turn on the news. The whole point of this essay is that there is a causative reason for the disproportionate level, and it has nothing to do with the amount of melanin in someone’s skin. Can’t you get it that a human being is a human being, and that there are few differences biologically, Susan, between you and a black woman. Your skin is a different color. Your hair is a different texture. But otherwise, you are pretty much the same. Whatever cultural and societal pressures you experience are different, historically, than your black female counterpart. Our current state of affairs is just continuing a warped societal history for black people. It would have been nice if our half black president did something real in the way of race loyalty, and brought back the jobs that have been lost to cheap labor in foreign countries. Instead he has sold them out to corporate interests and continued the permanent victim status that is useful to the black leaders and his political party. But don’t worry Susan, you really did a good job to make yourself feel smart.

    • solvermn September 19, 2016, 8:07 am

Susan would you get similar results if you Used low income and poverty levels as the basis instead of color ?

  • lee33 May 20, 2014, 6:37 am

The old ” We be Oh Pressed so we not guilty of any crimes we commit” is an unfortunate belief by a lot of black people because they were programmed from birth by others who actually believe such things. Therefore they don’t bother to try to break out of that mentality. Race Hate is passed on the same way, Eric Holder is a good example of that every time he tries to complain about racism by making racist/pro-black/anti-white comments!

  • Gates May 20, 2014, 1:31 am

Denninger is no racist – I have followed him for 7 years and he calls things as he see’s them based on empirical evidence… but don’t let facts get in the way of a good story…

  • Norm May 19, 2014, 9:22 pm

Wow, I thought Karl was just in a bad mood in his response and then I read this tripe. The phrase “weapons grade retard” comes to mind in the first paragraph.

“Mr. Denninger makes a completely undocumented statement about gun violence:”

Yup, undocumented because they haven’t tried it. Tough to document something that hasn’t happened yet. For someone who’s going to nitpick about spelling you should probably pick up an 8th grade remedial vocab workbook. Vocab is short for vocabulary.

Then you go on to compare illegally selling Beanie Babies to selling drugs. And state the only difference is the amount of money involved. This is, literally, the dumbest thing I’ve heard in a long time. Care to provide some ‘documentation’ on that?

Laughed out loud at the ‘poor black people’ stats. Noticed you didn’t have two parent household percentages or high school graduation rates in there. THAT would be considered actual documentation.

I could pick this ridiculous article apart but it would be overkill since every other poster has owned you, and then again in their responses to your even poorer responses.

It’s not your fault, Karl Denninger and his readers are a lot more intelligent and realistic than yours, you just lobbed your bleeding heart BS at the wrong guy.

  • KarenL May 19, 2014, 6:04 pm

Pulling traffic in does not mean folks that regularly read the Market Ticker would become your clients; this piece would cement the opposite intention. Calling black on black crime out for what it is displays honesty. To call what Karl has done otherwise is dishonest. The comparison about beanie babies to drugs cannot be sincere; the issues of crime syndicates and violence around the drug trade have destroyed large parts of black America. Legalizing drugs does not fix addiction but it does take away the crime element and would reduce the destruction of so many young, primarily black and male, lives who now rot in jail.

  • Sam May 19, 2014, 6:01 pm

I remember a time when most of America was a decent place (White population was 80%+).
Due to welfare and unguarded borders the Nation has become a parody of Brazil, with the same crime rate. I really don’t care if someone accuses me of being “racist”. Blacks, for whatever reason, like it or not, pose a violent threat. This is a fact, born out by empirical evidence.
Most of the world is allowed (nay, encouraged) to prefer their own and put their own ethnic interests above others, only White people lack that right.
Much of the discord in the world would be minimized is all ethnic groups/races were allowed their own territory.
White people the right of association and exclusive territory just as much as the right to bear arms.

    • lee33 May 20, 2014, 7:43 am

Have you noticed that “diversity” seems to only be for countries where the whites are the majority? Has anyone ever heard anyone say “Nigeria needs more diversity”? Or India, or Iraq, or China, or Mexico? Nope, its a form of oppression be forced only on the counties that are perceived as “white” countries. A Rightful homeland or 2 for Caucasians would be nice, since everyone else gets their own and considering that the whites ARE a world minority….

      • Administrator May 20, 2014, 9:14 am

This kind of moron approach is exactly why people like “intellectual” Denninger need to get called out. You see Karl. This idiot is the choir you are preaching to when you blame gun violence on anything else but a broken country with decimated inner cities. Does anyone want to explain the whole “melting pot” thing about America to this mental midget?

        • J.W. Longley April 23, 2017, 1:02 am

Yeah I’d be glad to explain “Melting Pot” to a moron……but not the moron YOU think……
This once great Nation HAD a Melting pot ideology, when countries like England, France, Germany, Holland ,Italy ,Ireland ,etc., sent some of thier best to settle ,become AMERICANS, WORK for thier living, learn the language ;ENGLISH , build AMERICA ,pledge Allegiance to the AMERICAN flag,
          THEN it became corrupted, instead of a melting pot it became a cesspool for third world scum , even criminal drug gang & terrorist scum,that invaded ILLEGALLY, by the hundreds of thousands, millions even,with no intention of becoming AMERICAN, or learn ENGLISH, or pledge any allegiance except to whatever 3rd world toilet they crawled out of;
encouraged by a scrawny ,militant, marxist, muslim usurper ,who detested America & her Traditions,& who was “elected” thru fraud ,deceit, lies, running as a centrist candidate , but governed as a leftist radical ,inflicting his anti-White, anti-Christian, anti-American agenda on us .
Doing his utmost to destroy America& it’s Constitution, which he defied & defiled at every opportunity,
encouraging millions from Central& South America to invade across OUR Southern Border, along with the muslim scum from middle east, & disease-ridden savages from Africa to invade & forcing U.S. Gov’t. BorderPatrol, immigration employees to cease intercepting & deporting ILLEGAL ALIENS, allowing liberal, lefty progressive, types to have “Sanctuary cities where CRIMINAL 3rd world scum who committed MULTIPLE VIOLENT FELONIES & robbed , assaulted & murdered AMERICAN CITIZENS to hide & be sheltered from the LAWS of the U.S. to the point where a WALL needs to be built to prevent criminal, disease ridden 3rd world scum from invading .
“Diversity” was the word used to intimidate Patriotic American Citizens with along with “RACIST”, “Facist” and other ridiculous adjectives, applied to ALL who disagreed with PC traitors
Having reached a ‘saturation point’ AMERICANS, who had enough of soros’ puppet & wanting to avoid the total destruction of AMERICA ,by seeing the criminal hillary clinton finish America off by continuing the unethical, immoral, & illegal agenda , came together & voted Donald Trump,PRESIDENT.
Hopefully it marks the Beginning of the Revolution to take America back .

          • Really August 24, 2018, 7:58 am

WOW!!! Sure didn’t have a problem with all those blacks coming over in chains! I guess because they didn’t learn “ENGLISH” those slave traders couldn’t ask if they wanted to go to AMERICA! You believe that YOUR kind is not racist? YOUR kind were hanging NEGROS in the days we were still saying “yes
sir”! Don’t get it twisted you know who your kind is. It isn’t white! White is not a mental disease. Racism is.

Kinda funny since he voted for Obama first time around. I’ve read him for over 6 years and never once have I detected any racism. Please cite your sources for this claim.

    • Steven Edwards May 19, 2014, 8:56 pm

Check out one of his videos where he spoke to a Tea Party group in FL and went on about Obamacare Brosurance. He specifically said he was calling it that becaue Obama was ‘a bro’.

Your arguments can be logically factually and you still be a racist asshole.

BAHZHINGO! Winner winner chicken dinner sir! Just wish it were possible.

  • Desertrat May 19, 2014, 4:40 pm

It looks to me as though Denninger’s comments were egregiously misinterpreted; he’s 180 degrees to what he was accused of.
Is the CDC racist? Is it racist to use their data which shows that black-on-black firearms homicides far outweighs the percentage of blacks in our population? It’s way over half of all firearms homicides. (Denninger cited the DOJ; I have off-and-on gone to the CDC.)
I, Denninger and many others have long regarded this as a tragic situation. It’s not a matter of race as race; it’s (I guess) a sub-culture of inner-city violence. Probably any ethnic group in those circumstances would have such a sub-culture.

  • K. Davis May 19, 2014, 4:38 pm

“….there is a game, and the game is to keep us apart and resenting each other.”

Why don’t you quit with the conspiracy crap already, Mr Administrator?

FBI statistics show 15% of America’s population committed 49% of approx 8,000 homicides in 2012. 4,000 +/- homicides were committed by 50 million blacks = 8 homicides/100,000 blacks and 4,000 +/- homicides were committed by 275 million non-black = 1.45 homicides/100,000 other. FBI statistics bear out that America’s Blacks committed homicides at FIVE AND A HALF TIMES the rate per hundred-thousand of America’s other ethnicities.

Inner-city and/or other undocumented pharmaceuticals dealers and users aren’t interested in JOBS, Mr. Administrator – they want a fast dollar and a quick fix and if killing another to acquire it happens, they see it’s just another cost of doing business. Methinks you’ve been far long too sheltered to understand that reality.

Mr. Denninger’s point of quickly legalizing and stringently regulating some of those drugs to disarm a portion of the criminal element bears far more sense than can any “conspiracy” theory about a “game” you fabricate.

I find it amusing that anyone with a trace of African decent will make it known for anti-discrimination, or favorable treatment within this PC Country, but Obama is now being reference many times as the first “1/2 Black” president. I guess that is saying that he isn’t lifting his race as expected so he is being changed over. I am assuming I will be labeled a racist for making this comment.

An article written by “…a Federal Reserve board member, explaining that as of 2007, manufacturing jobs had sunk to 13.7 million, down from 19.6 million in in 1979. More than half of those jobs were lost after 2000, when we gave China a favored nation status permanently.”
It went against advice from all of his advisors when President Bill Clinton handed China the gift of: “Most Favored Nation Status For Life,” at a time when China was embroiled in multiple human rights violations. But Bill believed that if we gave China thi$ gift, it would make them want to do better by their people (rather than telling them they could have it if they changed their act). Bill Clinton also gave the Chinese government missile guidance technology (by Clinton’s largest campaign contributor), that his advisors warned against, which experts said that one gift advanced the Chinese military capabilities by 25 years. What a screwball… and now we may get to see what his ‘beast with the hairy back’ does if she slithers into the oval office. Thanks to liberal loonie thinking we are where we are, and there may be no going back to normalcy.

Born in 59 I was brought up with no racial issues.
I thought people were over it as I looked around here in southern CA.
Well Barack Obama has brought it back.
He is our enemy in a war nobody seems to realize is going on.
Divide and conquer is on his agenda, and he’s in the middle of pulling off the “divide”.

The new (entitled) generations are going to have to fight and die for the lives of their families and countrymen before they figure out where their liberty and freedoms came from.

I’m afraid it may be the only thing to wake them up.

It’s a sad reality that we have the dumbest people running around with the smartest phones.

Administrator, you have a rather illogical way of commenting to others who have taken the time to write on your post. I hope you can discover what truth Karl writes sometime before your time on earth is over. He is intelligent in his writing, and his style is impeccable. But enough about Karl, understand many that have posted on your comments section take issue with the lack of knowledge you have provided. Please make it an effort in the future to do a better job of informing your readers on the issue; rather than just blasting anyone that disagrees with your opinion on what we Americans should do. The war on drugs is faulty, Alex Jones in my opinion is a hack – going about the issues in a poor manner, and please take note that tariffs would bring back MANY jobs to our homeland, jobs that any American can do, and would allow much of our welfare class to gain benefit from.

  • Patrick May 19, 2014, 10:52 am

The link is in the very first sentence, it’s what brought me here. It’s been there since first posted because I was reading the blog when it posted. This is actually my first experience with this site, and I must admit I’m unimpressed. It appears you lack intellectual honesty, are lazy in your research, and quite happily picked an internet fight with someone who is probably on the same side as you with most anything to do with guns. I’ll probably come back to this thread as long as it remains as entertaining as it has been, but don’t really see anything else of value here I can’t find somewhere else. Before the Market Ticker went to just a blog it was of immense value to me and I still get value in both knowledge and entertainment from Karl chooses to opine on.

        • Administrator May 19, 2014, 11:29 am

Oh yeah, cool. And agreed on the not much more of value point.

      • Patrick May 19, 2014, 11:50 am

As you say, “We have over 800,000 subscribers LMAO”, implying there are more contributors to the site than you (I have no idea, since this is my first visit here). So it is possible that the subscribers are here for others, and perhaps not so much for your brilliant (LMAO) insights. Again I must point out your willful ignorance, in that Mr. Denninger did in fact provide a link to your site, you simply have to be computer literate to spot it, its call a hyper link, so now you have a reason to revisit his site and see for yourself. http://market-ticker.org/ try the blue colored text that reads; “get out your keyboard.”
LMAO, you make it too easy

        • Administrator May 19, 2014, 12:00 pm

Yea, er, we got that. And how did he get so busy so fast this morning with his reply? Because he saw his analytics spike from our subscribers going to his website that they had never heard of and will probably never visit again. What was that about not much more interesting stuff happening in this discussion? Oh yeah, except for the prozac infused who are “for decriminalization of drugs.”

          • Patrick May 19, 2014, 12:18 pm

That you refuse to rebut any of Mr. Denninger’s assertions with anything more than sophomoric ad hominem attacks tells me all I need to know about you. We’ve read your article in full,” you have been weighed on the scales and found wanting” Daniel 5:25–28

          • Richard May 19, 2014, 12:19 pm

Now that is worthy of a LMAO – seriously! You think Karl “got busy” because of you??

  • Jeff May 19, 2014, 10:35 am

Wage and Environmental parity Tariffs would work something like this. If you produce in a country with lower wages and less stringent environmental laws, a Tariff (tax) gets assessed on your product when it enters the US, to protect US businesses and workers from competition that doesn’t play by the same set of rules as they do.This would have little impact on goods produced in Western Europe, Japan, Canada, and Australia but would greatly impact goods made in China and other low wage countries. It’s not Free Trade, but it is Fair Trade

    • Administrator May 19, 2014, 10:43 am

Yeah, just a fancy word for forcing the same tariffs on them that they put on us. Or am I missing some subtle nuance as to why those words were chosen, other than to make someone sound smart?

      • Jeff May 19, 2014, 10:51 am

Those words are probably used 1) Because they are exact, and easily explain why a tariff is being imposed. 2) Because Tariff has been a dirty word for the globalists in power for a long time, and if you don’t clearly explain why you support a Tariff, you are going to get grief about being against Free Trade, and keeping poor and undeveloped countries from competing in the global marketplace. I understand why the political right doesn’t like Tariffs, they are funded in large part by big businesses that want cheap labor wherever it exists, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why the union supported left hasn’t got behind something like this.

  • John May 19, 2014, 10:29 am

    Paul, stop digging.

Denninger is not the guy to mess with, mainly because his argument here is correct, but also because he’s one smart, mean SOB. I’ve been reading him for years. I’ve even disagreed with him on one or two issues, but I was smart enough to take some time and really consider his argument, before saying something unreasoned or ignorant. He’s one of the good guys in this fight.

You’re walking into a gun fight with a leaky water balloon.

You should try actually READING what Karl Denninger has to say, you might realize how wrong you are – but I doubt it. Pick ANY year over the last several and research (google the word research if you’re not sure what it means) The Market Ticker and tell me how he is a racist? tell me where his numbers are inaccurate? his economic reporting is inaccurate? his unparalleled stance on the rights afforded to us especially under the 2nd amendment? Give us SOMETHING!

Let me save you the hassle, you won’t find anything.

  • Matt May 19, 2014, 9:41 am

Your rant just goes to show that you either didn’t read Denninger’s article or had difficulty understanding it. Your petulant replies here pretty much confirm the latter.

    Here’s Denninger’s response:
    http://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=229023

Hopefully in the future you spend a little more time understanding people’s positions before ranting about them.

    • Administrator May 19, 2014, 10:09 am

I’m honored. I never implied that he was anti-gun. I don’t see much in his answer that isn’t just the standard ignorance peddling everywhere else. No I don’t read him, but why would I? He claims to defend vague “wage and environmental parity tariffs,” whatever the heck those are, yet seems to think that black people want to be on welfare and get handouts. They don’t. We are on the same side to some extent, but I’m not educated so I can’t come up with names for things like “wage and environmental parity tariffs.” In fact I had to use spellcheck for the word tariffs, which only has one r surprisingly. Oh, and I pay 10K a year for each of my kids to go to school, and the teachers don’t make half that. We don’t even have real teachers in our schools it is mostly just mommies who want tuition breaks. I would take the time, Mr. Denninger, to actually read some of Thomas Sowell’s stuff, watch Waiting for Superman, then watch the rebuttal. What you’ll see is that inner city black people are ensnared in a trap created by forces on both sides who have the sole purpose of keeping them apart from the American dream. People flocked to the inner cities because that is where the factory jobs were after the turn of the last century. That is gone now, and the black people trapped there have become political footballs, while they swim in a river of blood in the streets and visit their kids in prison. I am sure you mean well, but real help is to defend their ability to prosper. The militorization (wow no spellcheck) of the police force is scary, and they used to fund it with the war on drugs. Now it is is an open war on us and isn’t really connected to the drugs anymore. More sedation isn’t what American needs, and frankly, we really don’t care if you don’t want to feel like a criminal when you buy your weed. -ph@ga

      • Matt May 19, 2014, 10:28 am

If you want to say things like “whatever the heck those are” about wage and environmental parity tariffs and call them vague, you don’t also get to say, “No I don’t read him, but why would I?” He spells out exactly what they are in numerous articles in his archive, so what you’ve just done is tantamount to saying, “I don’t understand what this guy is saying and I have no interest in finding out.” That is not a reasonable position.

The rest of your response here speaks to a lot of the problems blacks face in the inner-city. Fine, and I love Sowell as well. He’s easily one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever read. The problem is that you’re continuing to gloss over Denninger’s writing on the very thing you’re expounding on, and you continue to misinterpret his writing to mean, “get everyone high and sedated, problem solved.” Some other commenters rightly compared the War on Drugs to Prohibition. Ending Prohibition wasn’t meant to “get everyone drunk and sedated, problem solved.” It was a response to public outcry, the realization that it was horribly ineffective, and the violence perpetrated by thugs and gangs as they filled a void. The parallels between the past and present are truly staggering. Are you actually reading his points and trying to understand or are you purposefully misrepresenting his position?

At any rate, I appreciate your considered and thoughtful reply. In reading both of you it seems obvious to me that you and Denninger agree much, much more than you disagree.

        • Administrator May 19, 2014, 10:41 am

Did you have to read my prior work to figure out my point? There is a new movie coming out from one of Alex Jones’s guys soon interviewing blacks people in the inner cities and I hope all of the people on here watch it. It is the same guy who made dreams from my real father. Inner city black people don’t want to be on government handouts. The powers that keep us apart are out there recruiting them to go on welfare. We have full time people here in florida who cruise the apartment complexes explaining to people that welfare is their right as an American. Denninger is the product of armchair ignorance, or he is merely a plant by the bread and circuses meant to keep idiots (not like you though sweety;) satiated with resentments for people who got suckered into become political footballs by their own leaders.

          • Matt May 19, 2014, 10:56 am

Wow, that response was like night-and-day from your previous (sweety? really??) So people who read various blogs and commenters are idiots, but people who allow themselves to be used as “political footballs” are not? Blacks don’t want to be on welfare but they just can’t help themselves when those full-timers in Florida come by? Your positions are so contradictory that I can’t tell if you’re being obtuse or simply hypocritical. I can’t rule out that it’s both.

I don’t give a crap about Alex Jones or whatever movie he’s working on.

“Did you have to read my prior work to figure out my point?” I had no trouble understanding your writing, and by your own admission you had trouble understanding Denninger’s. Instead of trying to fill the hole in your knowledge, you dismissed his point as vague and wrong. Now, you tell me, if I had started a comment with:

“I don’t know what you’re saying here and I’m not going to try to understand. Your point is vague, the words are big, I can’t spell, you’re wrong.”

would you have even bothered to reply with anything approaching a civil comment? From your other comments here I’m assuming that you would not. So why do you deserve the same consideration? You refuse to even consider that you may not fully grasp the point your opponent is arguing, even after admitting that you do not understand some of the points you’ve argued against. That’s not reasonable debate, it’s just a lot of yelling and arm-waving.

          • Administrator May 19, 2014, 11:03 am

Maybe if you did follow Alex a little you’d understand that there is a game, and the game is to keep us apart and resenting each other. Admittedly Alex screwed the pooch after Sandy Hook focusing on a CNN commentator nobody watches instead of the facts of the case, but a lot of what Alex and his crew post is really good, and will maybe give you a more honest perspective of why you think the things that you do.

      • Patrick May 19, 2014, 10:49 am

Spelling police are so annoying. Apparently you were able to discern the word, since you were able to correct the spelling. Such ad hominem attacks only diminish your position. Yep, I’m another Denninger reader, and from my perspective, you completely misconstrued his points. That isn’t surprising, since by you own admission; “I don’t see much in his answer that isn’t just the standard ignorance peddling everywhere else. No I don’t read him, but why would I?” Not much of an intellectual argument in my humble opinion.

      • Joshua August 1, 2015, 12:11 pm

Hello, I have to disagree with the factory jobs leaving being a cause at all. If you had ever taken an economics class in your life you would know that jobs don’t just leave and never return, they relocate to different fields. I also believe that people are too afraid of being “politically correct” to really fight the issue at hand. Yes, people in inner cities, mostly liberals, are the cause of the problems at hand. Our society has a stick your hand out mentality. Why work when you get welfare and food stamps and can kick back and use drugs all day? When looking at statistics which you obviously do black on black crime is a big issue. You can argue that it is because they are underfunded. However, why do you think that is? Who wants to teach in a neighborhood such as West Garfield Park? Lets be honest you wouldn’t. The crime is the cause of the underfunding not the other way around. What company would want to operate in those neighborhoods? And also when I am ranting I will address ‘racism in the police force.’ This is the biggest joke, when operating in a dangerous neighborhood police officers are already on edge but that with people not cooperating with the police that is what turns things dangerous. Maybe if people started respecting the police there would be less of these incidents. I know my rights and I know when to fight for them and I know when to cooperate. Really, social media is the downfall of our society. Ease of access of the news and misinformed ignorant articles like these are what is bringing America to a race war.

        • Administrator August 1, 2015, 9:16 pm

Oh please silly white man. Go walk around detroit and see how many of those jobs relocated. People like you are the cause of this giant crash and burn of a country that used to be great.

          • Joshua August 1, 2015, 9:48 pm

Try white college student, I have very many black friends from inner city Chicago and I see them make it, they don’t have fathers, but they don’t use that as a crutch like many others do. Crime is the cause of what is happening not the effect. Some may be too worried with political correctness or just straight ignorance to not be able to see that. You are right, we caused the giant crash, college age white Americans. Great point on that one. Also, crime caused the loss of jobs in Detroit if you have done proper research you would have known that. The crime caused massive suburbization of Detroit resulting in business to move out. I want African Americans to do great things and turn the inner cities around, but I honestly don’t see it happening. How can we change it around? People are too afraid to give gang members to the police and take down the drug trade, which is the only way business and education may turn around in these places. Sure I want America to be great and everyone to live together happily but it will not happen. We will have a race war within the decade and it is a scary thing. But sorry you get offended when someone states a fact that goes against your argument. Finally, that minimum wage that everyone wants also impacts those factory jobs and take them overseas, why would a company pay a worker 10 dollars an hour for low skilled work? It is completely impossible and that would ruin America, overseas employment is the only option. Let me guess you will try to argue that minimum wage is good? I will just rebuttal now and say that it is not, people do not deserve 10 dollars an hour to do an unskilled labor job. Really liberals are ruining America.

  • Chip Saunders May 19, 2014, 9:08 am

Your article HAD some valid points until you made it clear that your real displeasure with Deninger was his recognition of the failed and ill-conceived racist war on drugs as the root cause of most of our ills. Fortunately, your generation of poisoned propaganda-programed lemmings is beginning to die off and won’t be with us much longer. It would be preferable to be able to pursue liberty again without having to wait that long, but if we have to just til you all perish,…we can do that.

    • Administrator May 19, 2014, 9:12 am

So liberty is about giving young people all the drugs they want? If you actually read the article, it actually says other stuff than you think. But I guess you had your morning puff so I should have kept it down to a 2nd grade level for you.

  • P. Johnston May 19, 2014, 9:03 am

Thank You, W. Wallace. I read Denninger every day religously. He is the best. Anyone who disses Karl, disses me. I’m glad you clarified that the writer of the rant just didn’t understand the article because it was over his head.

    • Administrator May 19, 2014, 9:09 am

That you read him every day is already dissing yourself. He makes no real points and rambles from one thing to the next. Methinks anti-depressants. You too?

      • Anti-depressants!? May 20, 2014, 4:06 am

Wow man, Denninger’s not racist, and I don’t think he thinks people want to be on handouts, I think maybe you make too many assumptions about yours’ and Denninger’s audience too. There is probably quite a bit of overlap (or could be) judging by some of your later responses to comments here. BTW I guess I should say that, no I haven’t been a drug user since college, 15 years ago, not illegal or prescription. Poverty is the problem, we agree with on that I think. I don’t think that Denninger feels that ending the drug war is a panacea. He’s constantly harping on criminal activities of our government and the waste and cronyism that they knowingly encourage. There are a lot of people skimming off the top (well, more like skimming off the top and keeping the rest), or being allowed to break antitrust laws and stifle competition, leading to crazy prices (health care..). And lots of people who want to keep it that way. I’ve read him off and on over the years and credit him for higlighting a lot of really evil crap that I didn’t realize was going on. In any case, if there was sanity about not penalizing people for growing up in situations that lead, statistically, to higher drug-crime-related prosecution, perhaps it would be indicative of a governing attitude that also led to reform in other ways. I do not believe that anyone is suggesting that we legalize drugs and that’s it, but even if that was all that happened, I don’t think it would lead to an increase in poverty. I mean like you said, people don’t want to feel lazy or dependent. But look, I do know what it’s like to stumble and dabble in drugs, and it is all about your environment how you deal with that.. but it would have been a hell of a lot harder to overcome if I found myself in jail and on probation for years, and then have this stigma haunting my criminal history. Anyway, you really should read some of Denninger’s posts regarding economy and fiscal responsibility — it is pretty sensible stuff and highlights just how criminal is the behavior of our government in so many ways. Y’all really are on the same side (he is guilty of erring too quickly with emotion when judging people I think.. when really it’s all about miscommunication).

  • John May 19, 2014, 8:55 am

It took 13 years of prohibition, to find out it was never going to work. They didn’t repeal prohibition because booze was determined to now be healthy for people. They repealed it to get rid of all the crime & corruption associated with it.
And all the cost in policing, prosecuting, and imprisoning people.
We have the largest percentage of our population locked up in the WHOLE WORLD.
The WHOLE WORLD?? You’d think that would make people stop and ponder that, instead of wanting even more people in jail. States are going broke trying to keep all these people locked up.
The biggest laugh is when people for the “War On Drugs” describe how drugs ruin people’s lives, but making it a crime and sending people to jail for years doesn’t!!??!

Actually we need to legalize ALL drugs and REGULATE them quickly!!
    Why the rush?
Because of the new Russian drug, this stuff makes meth look like cotton candy, and we already have cases here of it!
So WHY would people take it knowing what it will do? Because they don’t KNOW what it is…illegal drugs can be anything…
People want to be medicated, then get the freaks off the stuff making them kill innocent people. Take the money away, and watch the gangs disappear…
And most of all keep this new horrific drug off our streets!!!

^^^ That awkward moment when you are so statist, that you contradict yourself.

“We must be FREE….. to be properly regulated!”

  • Wes May 19, 2014, 8:39 am

Of course, there is the distinct possibility that MOST of your reasons for our social and economic problems, disregarding race, can be correct; while your benevolent opinions about the majority of black people can be totally off base.

  • W.Wallace May 19, 2014, 7:55 am

Did you actually read the article? The case Deninger makes is that blacks have been disproportionately hurt by the failed war on drugs, which is the true target of his piece. The bloodshed in the inner cities is a corollary to that trade war, in which those “businessmen” have no recourse to the legal system and resort to violence to settle their disputes. The “war on drugs” has corrupted every single aspect of our judicial system, from the beat cop to the highests courts in the land, and in the process has eroded the Constitutional protections afforded by the 1st, 4th, 5th, 9th, 10th, and 14th Amendments.
Perhaps you should re-read the piece in question before you have a visceral reaction based on an emotional response rather than a reasoned study of the material.

    • Administrator May 19, 2014, 9:07 am

His point is rambling at best, and he is missing the whole point. The real question is, did you read my article?

      • Alex Askew May 20, 2014, 4:05 am

I agree with W. Wallace. Denninger’s point is well made if you are reasonably intelligent and take a little time to understand it. You have mis-represented his views.

      • Sickofthis May 20, 2014, 12:00 pm

The problem is us, we are a divided nation that has little true national pride. Everything is about dividing us. I say no more free shit let everyone fend for themselves. Oh thats not fair is it, TOUGH, GET OVER YOURSELVES

    • Just1Spark May 27, 2016, 9:55 am

W Wallace. You are dead on!

  • Pseudo May 19, 2014, 7:12 am

    Lets see?
““Indeed, if you take out black-on-black homicide in the major cities from our so-called “blood-red streets” that Bloomberg and others claim as our emblem of “endemic gun violence” you find that something like three quarters of all gun murders disappear.”
Question: Do not the major cities contain an inordinately larger portion of the population?

Approximately 325 million folks in the USA, from FBI statistics for 2012 something over 8,000 homicides, 49 percent by non black, 49 percent by blacks, one percent by other ethnic groups
    => 272 million non black
    =>50 Million black
=> 3 million other ethnic gtopus

    Wow I see your point

    • Uncle Phil May 23, 2014, 12:45 am

Actually, there are much fewer than 50 million African American people. That figure is part of their inflated mythology. Kind of like the myth of 150,000 Latino gang bangers in Texas. And, as far as it goes, in actual terms, gun violence in America is at it’s lowest point in decades at the same time gun ownership is at it’s highest. That’s a correlation the politicians of both parties refuse to recognize because it plays against their “base”. Yes, there are areas of extreme violence, but as a whole, across all of America, violent crime of all kinds is declining. Also a statistic the politicos don’t like because both parties use fear of crime to raise campaign funds.

  • PAD May 19, 2014, 6:22 am

Years ago in the inner cities Black people were killing each other with knives axes etc NOBODY cared about that even your Main Newspapers would not even report it
The Matter is This So many Politicos Have the burning desire to be King But are afraid to face an Armed Population
Richard Nixon had a former CIA agent start Handgun Control Inc and The National Coalition to ban handguns
to Gather information on how many people have firearms and what kind of firearms they have
Nixon wanted to be King Richard the First

  • Clark May 19, 2014, 2:57 am

You can’t even say taxed enough already about bank bailouts without being called a racist.
None of societies problems can be solved until we have leaders that cannot be stopped by fear of being called a racist.

It is exactly like calling someone a witch, when you want to steal their land.

  • josh May 18, 2014, 9:07 pm

I agree with you administrator…. our government wants us divided because if we were one united we would be a force to be reckoned with!!!! This even goes down to a political standpoint republican vrs. Democrats!!!! Everything is divided for a reason we all argue while the government collects their fat pensions and checks!!!!

  • Yo May 11, 2014, 11:48 pm

Yawn, same old line. It’s racist to even notice black violence because whites hold them down, send their jobs to China, don’t provide them with enough job opportunities, don’t give them enough money for their schools, don’t give them enough money for public housing, public assistance, child nutrition programs, free school lunches, medicaid, yadda, yadda, yadda. Black crime and social distinction is the white man’s fault, so pass the hat and pay up. Got it. Now go peddle your wares somewhere else, we’re tired of being lectured by crackpots.

    • Administrator May 12, 2014, 9:57 am

Oh look a government shill showed up to explain to everyone that white people are racist crackpots. Notice how the public housing and assistance begins a whole bunch of stuff that isn’t in the article. Everyone should be aware that the internet is not what it seems. They pay people to write stuff like this to keep us apart.

    • TEXIZZ May 19, 2014, 8:52 am

Exactly! Numbers don’t lie! Liberals do, though!

    • keeping it real May 22, 2014, 10:40 am

Amen brother, I agree with you 100%. With 3 and 4 generations of black people taking food stamps no wonder a lot of them don’t want to work. I have several black friends but they are good hard workers but they also admit to many blacks ride the welfare train and sell drugs on the side. This is their words not mine. But I agree with them!

Send this to a friend
