The Rebellion has new designs inside and out that make it significantly better.

Cabot Guns has created a new addition to their 1911 lineup: The Rebellion. It’s the company’s first aluminum-framed pistol. Cosmetically, it has some new features, but it also has significant design improvements never-before-seen on a 1911 pistol.

Cabot’s machined straps are comfortable and functional.

If you aren’t familiar with Cabot Guns (of Cabot, Pennsylvania), they are known for making 1911’s that are artfully designed and also have distinct functional upgrades. The Rebellion carry pistol is no different. Its aluminum frame features machined rhomboid checkering at a comfortable 24 lines per inch on the front and back straps. The grips are machine-stippled G10 with Cabot medallions.

The most noticeable changes are on the 416 stainless steel slide. Like everyone else, they’ve put front and rear serrations but Cabot has also serrated the top of the slide. What’s more, they’ve redesigned the carry cuts at the front of the slide with a modern, slimmer, chamfer-like cut. That cut is mirrored at the end of the slide and melds well with the flush-cut crowned 4.25″ bull barrel.

The flush-cut crowned bull barrel is match grade.

Those cosmetic changes pale beside the innovations under the slide. They’ve reexamined the extractor and improved it. Cabot’s master gunsmith, Rob Schauland, also wanted to make the gun cycle faster and he developed a new rail to achieve it. Cabot calls them Speed Cut Rails. They’ve reduced the rails’ surface area by 300% which also removes friction from the system.

The top of the slide is serrated as well as the sides.

What’s more, the Speed Cut Rails stay lubricated much better than conventional 1911 rails so that the gun cycles reliably longer. GunsAmerica took a close look at the design, and it is truly unique. Understandably, Cabot didn’t want us to publish any photos of the rails. You’ll have to order one for yourself and see if it lives up to the hype.

The skeletonized hammer, thumb safety, grip safety, mag release, slide catch, etc. are all machined from billet.

The Rebellion’s undercut trigger guard surrounds a flat blade textured trigger weighing 3.5-4 pounds. The ledge rear sight is also designed by Schauland and is serrated and blacked out. Various front sight options are available, but they are all inset from the front of the gun rather than slid in from the side so that they can’t be bumped out of place. All the controls are machined from billet at Cabot’s plant. It comes in two-tone black and stainless or all black and ships with two magazines.

Each piece is precision cut–even though the tolerances are tight, the gun does not need to be hand-fit.

Cabot’s Rebellion pistol will be available in the second half of 2020 and they are taking orders, now. If you were one of the twenty subscribers quick enough to join Cabot’s gun-of-the-month club, then you’ll be getting the Rebellion later this year. MSRP is $3,995.

$4K for a soda can made receiver with no proof of accuracy, sounds like a wise investment.

Sorry there are to many companies that are already in that price range i.e. Nighthawk. Accuracy-X and others that come with ransom rest targets proving their worth, and far more effort put into craftsmanship than this one shows for that price. Just my opinion.

reduced surface area? looks to me like you increased surface area with those cuts and made the slide lighter… idk not a gunsmith. just what it looks like to me

Not only reduced it, but reduced it by 300%!!! First they reduced all of it 100%, and removed it TWO MORE TIMES!

      Amazing.

That Aluminum frame 1911 sure look pretty, NOT $4000 WORTH OF PRETTY!
You could just about get 4 COMPLETE 80% 1911 BUILD KITS FOR THAT PRICE!
Hell, build 3 and get a few thousand rounds of ammo!

Hey, get a history book, aluminum 1911’s came out in the 1950’s, was called Lightweight Commander then, and was 9mm too! $4000.00? I’ll bet my 20 year old Springfield Armory Defender will out shoot it!
