Repeat Offender Becomes Dead Offender: Armed Carjacker Terminated by Religious Michigander

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Defensive Use of Firearms S.H. Blannelberry This Week

Christopher Worth is no longer on this earth.

Late last month, the 39-year-old career criminal met his end in a carjacking gone wrong.

Police say Worth was driving in Grand Rapids, Michigan when the stolen car he was in broke down.

That’s when Worth targeted the home of Alan Lenhart — and the truck that was parked in the driveway.

Lenhart confronted Worth after he heard the perp busting in the truck’s windows. Apparently, Worth was hoping to find the keys on the seat.

“We yelled at him to go away. He proceeded to advance on us. We shut the door, locked him out, called 911,” explained Lenhart to local affiliate News 8. “I loaded my deer hunting gun.”

Worth did not leave the scene.  Instead, he went around to the back of the house and attempted to force his way in.  He was dead set on getting the keys to that truck.

“When he was in the backyard, he was going, ‘Give me the keys, give me the keys,’ and kept approaching,” Lenhart said.

“I told him, ‘Go away, I’ve got a shotgun on you,’ and he kept coming,” he said.

“Then he started shooting at me. Bullets going past your head, like that,” Lenhart continued. “Took cover. And he was going back down, run away.”

At some point during the confrontation, Lenhart opened fire on Worth, fatally wounding him.

Thankfully, Lenhart and his wife were not injured.  It’s not clear how many shots were fired.

Police pronounced Worth, who they noted was a “parole absconder,” dead at the scene.  They believe he may have been involved in a similar crime in the area.

“It’s certainly something we’re going to vet. This person has a pretty substantial criminal history,” Kent County Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young said.

Following the harrowing encounter, Lenhart was a bit rattled.

“[I’m a] Religious man, so it’s still tough,” he told reporters. “Scared to death. Who knows when we’ll be done with that, I guess. Hard to go back in your own home after this happens in it.”

But the homeowner maintains he had no choice but to use deadly force.

“We had to do it. There was no way around it. Absolutely no way around it,” Lenhart said, later adding, “He was crazy.”

Is anyone else getting real tired of seeing the words “Career criminal” in stories like this? How about we bring back the 3 strikes laws and keep these assholes in prison WHERE THEY BELONG! I bet the crime rate drops significantly.

Sir, you did what you had to do, protected yourself and your family. God has already forgiven you for that, and you need to forgive yourself too. Hug your family and sleep well tonight!

The article included “39-year-old career criminal met his end in a carjacking gone wrong”.

I fail to see how it the incident had “gone wrong”. The bad guy didn’t get the car, homeowners weren’t injured, and perp completed the room temperature challenge.

    Sounds fine to me.

  • STEPHEN STEWART April 8, 2022, 1:14 pm

They call that a ‘good riddance shooting’.

  • Walleye April 8, 2022, 12:30 pm

This story makes a good case for why homeowners should always be armed while on their own property, or not farther than 15 steps from a loaded and secured firearm.

  • Godfrey Daniel April 8, 2022, 12:05 pm

They say you can’t fix stupid. I beg to differ. Mr. Lenhart fixed it.

Agreed, that’s Darwinism on display. Nature rules, break ’em and you pay.

These incidents in MI and TX where the grand jury declined to indict a homeowner remind me that I am in NE Illinois and even though not Cook Co where i would most certainly have been arrested and charged (esp in the TX case), I might well be convicted. The interpretation is that even in your own home there can be a duty to retreat. Not kidding.

Another one bites the dust! Hey Hey

  • Billb April 8, 2022, 8:38 am

Once the carjacker started to shoot, the homeowner should have opened fire immediately with no hesitation. This is another example of a felon with a long record being released back into society and violate yet again.

  • Link Lackluster April 8, 2022, 6:54 am

    Worthless.

  • Whathappenedtomycountry April 8, 2022, 6:54 am

I feel bad for the shooter having to do what was necessary to survive. On the other hand the world is a better place without mr. carjacker.

  • Lady Smith April 8, 2022, 5:50 am

Wow!! This guy shouted for him to leave too many times. If I was confronted outside of my home I would tell them to get off my property NOW. I always have my gun on me if I’m outside. I would have went to my door as I’m telling him to leave. If he made the wrong move or advanced towards me he would have been shot. The idiot had already showed the home owner what he was capable of when he broke out his truck window. I understand you have to live with the decision to shoot someone but this idiot got what he ask for.

  • Jim from LI April 6, 2022, 12:20 pm

Moron was too stupid to be on the street without a keeper. The truck doors were locked, so he breaks the windows hoping the owner is as stupid as him and locked his keys in the truck?

  • SuperG April 6, 2022, 9:12 am

One day, I hope that I don’t hear the police say “He had quite a substantial criminal record.” I’m tired of repeat offenders being given chance after chance after chance, only to keep victimizing people every time they hit the streets. Conviction of three separate felonies should be a federal crime that requires the death penalty. Stop coddling criminals!

    • Dsno April 8, 2022, 6:41 am

      You should move to China…

      • Grumpy Old Biker April 8, 2022, 7:59 am

Apparently Dsno, our severely retarded friend here, has an extensive criminal history himself.

        • leo April 8, 2022, 9:26 am

perfect comment about Dsno’s comment. I agree with poster about 3 strikes and you’re out. with in 3 days, non of this BS about waiting for years or jailing them for life

      • Robert April 8, 2022, 11:20 am

Dirtbags like you (Dsno)are the ones getting shot.. I don’t see a problem. Stop being a criminal dirtbag

      • Big Al 45 April 8, 2022, 4:22 pm

You should take your own advice.

      • John Boutwell April 9, 2022, 7:43 pm

Does it hurt to be as stupid as you are?

    • Dr Motown April 8, 2022, 7:54 am

Our justice system is broken…..80% of these violent crimes are repeat offenders. California had a “3 strikes policy” and the libtards kept suing to get rid of it. SMDH

    • Josh Thomas April 8, 2022, 7:58 am

i agree thiree times in court for fellonies hang them.

    • Mike h April 8, 2022, 10:31 am

      Death penalty for 3 felonies?
      That’s barbaric and unjust.
Considering the number of felonies that have absolutely no victims, the death penalty is stupid.
Our government is currently attempting to prosecute people for various firearms charges for items that aren’t firearms.
We have police that are caught on camera planting evidence for false charges. We even had one try to prosecute a man for donut glaze.

There are bad recurring criminals out there.
But a 3 strikes death penalty added to a broken system that creates criminals isn’t the answer.

    • Stan d. Upnow April 8, 2022, 10:38 am

You had better look-up what constitutes a “felony.” Where I’m from, if you’re caught driving on a suspended license it’s a felony! There are a lot of crimes that are felonies, as there are different degrees of felony charges.
I think writing bad checks is a felony in some places. You gonna execute someone for violating traffic laws, or passing bad checks?

    • Fal Phil April 8, 2022, 1:01 pm

Heck, if we could get them arrested and in court, such a policy would clean up at least half of our elected federal officials.
