Robert ‘Beto’ O’Rourke: ‘Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47’

Authors Current Events Jordan Michaels This Week

Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke became the nation’s most openly radical anti-gun politician last week when he told moderators during a Democratic presidential debate that the mandatory gun buyback in his gun control platform doesn’t go far enough.

When asked whether he wanted to confiscate guns from law-abiding gun owners, the former Texas Congressman responded, “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47. We’re not going to allow it to be used against our fellow Americans anymore.”

“If the high-impact, high-velocity round, when it hits your body, shreds everything inside of your body because it was designed to do that so that you would bleed to death on a battlefield … when we see that being used against children,” O’Rourke continued, recalling a child who died during the El Paso massacre.

O’Rourke’s campaign wasted no time capitalizing on the viral moment, tweeting just minutes later a shirt for sale featuring Beto’s quote from the debate.

The stunt was apparently successful. The same night, O’Rourke’s digital director tweeted that the campaign enjoyed its best hour of fundraising in the moments after Beto’s comment.

As many have pointed out since the former Congressman’s remarks went viral, the failed Senate candidate was singing a different tune during his campaign to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz in Texas.

“To be clear, they should have [AR-15’s],” he said on The Chad Hasty Show in April of 2018. “If you purchased that AR-15, if you own it, keep it. Continue to use it responsibly.”

“In Texas, we have a proud, rich tradition of hunting, of owning guns for self-defense, for sport or collection… just because it is fun to shoot.”

“I want to learn from those who believe we should continue to be able to sell and purchase AR-15’s in this country, and that there’s a better way to do it,” he continued. “Sign me up to listen and learn from that conversation and maybe I’ll come to a different conclusion.”

The O’Rourke campaign has also been making hay out of a now-deleted tweet from Republican Texas state Rep. Briscoe Cain, who responded to Beto’s debate comment with a challenge of his own: “My AR is ready for you Robert Francis.”

Twitter removed the tweet because the company said it violated its policies against violence and wishing harm against others, and Beto used it to suggest that Americans shouldn’t be trusted with “weapons of war.”

When asked by CNN’s DJ Judd if Cain’s tweet constituted a threat, Beto said, “Yeah, it sure reads like one to me.”

“I think it’s a really irresponsible thing for him to do, especially somebody who is a public servant and in a position of public trust to be sending that kind of message to this country,” Beto continued. “We are a nation of laws, and if that ends up becoming the law of the United States of America, then we expect the people of this country to comply with it.”

Most surveys still have Beto polling in the 1-3 percent range among Democratic voters, a full 24-22 points behind former Vice President Joe Biden.

I would like to see this little pencil neck take ANYTHING from me! California shit head!

  • Jay September 21, 2019, 5:47 pm

Somebody should take away all HIS security measures and tell him that if he feels threatened he should just call 911 and wait… and see what he does then.
Of course, that’s not going to happened. Those anti-gun libs are surrounded by a LOT more artillery than any of us have, and many are packing their own too, illegally as often as not.

  • Russ September 21, 2019, 12:05 pm

I am glad he spoke the truth. He assured himself of losing. WINNING!!!!

  • AKB September 21, 2019, 11:38 am

Hey, at least he’s being honest about his intentions. I prefer that over the rest of the lying Democrats who pay lip service about respecting and protecting the 2A, but actually want the same things as Beto does (and worse!).
Both Beto and Swalwell have been honest about this issue, which is political poison for them both, but the honesty is refreshing. Swalwell is out, Beto will be out soon too, and that’s good for America.

  • FirstStateMark September 20, 2019, 8:47 pm

Hey Beto! “Hell yes, your gonna lose the primary election” ya jackass!

  • Dilligaf September 20, 2019, 2:07 pm

Come and get em beta boy. See you’re at a disadvantage…..you expect LEO’s to enforce your anti-American constitution bashing agenda but yet you hate LEO’s. Trust me, LEO’s will not enforce your confiscation because unlike you, they uphold the constitution of America

    • Jay September 21, 2019, 5:53 pm

Don’t count on that! A lot of LEO’s are now the product of the modern anti-Constitution, anti-American school system. And remember, every year they spew out another voting load of violently liberal democrats just yearning to tear down the last bastions of true Americanism.
We’re gonna lose this one and that before long. We may get one more election, that’s it. And once they take control of the government again, they’ll make sure there’s no more defeats for them.

  • John September 20, 2019, 1:17 pm

Robert Francis O’Rourke stated he owned an AR-15. What did he do with it? Did he sell it to one of his junkie buddies? He probably profited from the sale of the AR-15. I am pretty sure he did not turn over to a police department. What was he doing with an AR-15 anyway? Robert Francis is a criminal, look at his record, not only prior to public office; even while profiting from his city representative and congressional post, he worked to undermine from his constituents.

  • Bad Penguin September 20, 2019, 11:40 am

Does he know AK-47’s havent been made since about 1954?

  • Tom Bokman September 20, 2019, 9:21 am

At least Beto tells the truth about the left’s version of gun control. They are lying when they say we need more laws to make guns safe. By “safe” they mean take away all the guns and since no one will have a gun, all the guns will be safe. WTF? TRUMP 2020

    • T D September 20, 2019, 10:26 am

Don’t count on Trump to protect your 2nd Amendment rights. He’s often as mercurial as the wind. When it comes to firearms, Trump’s likely to lean in whatever direction best favors his political standing, which could very well be towards confiscation if that’s what the majority mob is shouting for. For sure, a Democrat in the White House will be worse for gun rights. But I don’t trust Trump any further than I could pick him up and throw him, which would be zero distance, when it comes to 2nd Amendment issues. He’s no ardent 2nd Amendment supporter by any stretch of the imagination.

      • Tom Bokman September 20, 2019, 11:30 am

So you don’t vote for Trump and then Biden or Warren get elected president? Sometimes it’s better to take the lesser of two evils. TRUMP2020

        • T D September 20, 2019, 12:07 pm

I’ll vote my conscience, which I did in the 2016 presidential election, meaning I went third party, because I didn’t like Trump or Clinton as candidates. Sure, I urinated away my vote, because the U.S. isn’t and probably never will be willing to deviate from its two party, hardcore partisan, political system. But at least I didn’t urinate away my conscience voting for the “lesser of two evils”. I’ll do the same in 2020, depending on the major political party choices, of which Trump will no doubt be one. Plus, there’s not one Democrat in the presidential running I’d vote for. I consider myself a middle of the road moderate, with a gumbo mix of beliefs ranging from conservative through liberal. Unfortunately, our two party system doesn’t much favor moderate presidential candidates. Seems if a person takes stock in one conservative or liberal idea, it has to (politically speaking) mutually exclude all other, non-related ideas that are considered out of sync with that particular idea, which is such a crock of crap.

          • Tom Bokman September 20, 2019, 6:35 pm

Hate to tell you but you doing exactly what the democrats want. I hear more and more pro 2A people say they will not vote for Trump because he’s not 100% true blue 2A. They think even if Trump is not re- elected the new democrat/socialist government will not come after them to take their guns. Although that’s exactly what happened at Ruby Ridge and Waco.

The democrats have no conscience and will lie to get elected. Unfortunately we need to fight fire with fire and vote for Trump. Sitting on our asses and letting socialists take over our country is just not smart. IMHO

          • Tom Bokman September 21, 2019, 12:58 pm

Do you think any of the democrat candidates for president would never try to take you guns by force? Google “Ruby Ridge”, “Waco” and “Katrina gun grab”. Once the new socialist/democrats secure the power and resources of the US federal government, you can say goodby to ALL your guns.

Yes I know Obama didn’t do it but the new socialist democrats certainly will. You can bet all your money on that one.

          • Ib September 21, 2019, 5:05 pm

            You are a fool.

        • Russ September 21, 2019, 12:10 pm

Well said Tom. Not voting is not an option. With a democrat you will lose rights as a gun owner. It’s that simple.

Ok now I know this is gonna piss off a lot of people but really get over the bump stock ban. They where a waste of money to begin with. I’m all for the 2nd amendment and owning guns but really you need to get over that. If you are so pissed off about it maybe you should start running for president and fix it yourself. If not then just drop it. Look at the bigger picture of them trying to take every gun you own not just the ar’s. Wow what a bunch of whining over stupid shit

    • Awesome Bill from Dawsonville September 20, 2019, 11:40 am

I respectfully disagree. The ATF ruled bump stocks were legal accessories. People bought them only to have the federal government make their possession criminal. No compensation, no grandfathering in, nothing. Imagine if they take it a step further and claim that putting an optic on a firearm turns it into a \”sniper rifle.\” It wasn\’t long ago that democrats made a push to outlaw \”sniper rifles.\” Imagine of owning a $60 Tasco or $5,000 Schmidt & Bender turned you into a criminal? The goal of the left is to chip away your rights one at a time. Divide and conquer. \”Nobody needs an AR-15,\” \”nobody needs a bump stock,\” \”nobody needs a 300 Win Mag.\” Don\’t fall into that trap.

  • Jay September 20, 2019, 7:29 am

It’s just a part of the overall plan. The Dems/lefty’s put it out there that they want gun confiscation, which is what a buy back is, then when Trump hits you with another anti-gun law like the bump stock ban, in which no one made a peep, you will fall for it hook line and sinker just like the bump stock ban!

  • GERARD L SAMOLESKI September 20, 2019, 6:52 am

I will get you with my .50 sling shot beto bs if I had to.

  • Will Drider September 18, 2019, 12:28 pm

“HELL YES, WE’RE GOING TO TAKE YOUR AR” is a THREAT on several levels. Fortunately, at this time butto does not have the means to act. It boils down to an irrelevant candidate trying to gain attention before he ultimately withdraws from the far left primary race. At this point buttos number are so low he would not even be considered for the VP slot on the primary ticket. His “quote is actually his political death knell.

  • catawampus September 18, 2019, 1:44 am

Marxists can not have a population that has the willingness and ability to resist, they must be disarmed.

    • D.J. September 20, 2019, 1:33 pm

You are correct , sir .
To quote Ioseb Jughashvili ( aka Stalin ) :
” If the opposition disarms , well and good . If it refuses to
disarm , we shall disarm it ourselves .”

  • Sepp W September 16, 2019, 6:36 pm

O’Rourke is a slacker and a member of the incapable and unproductive club. He’ll say anything to get elected and to kick state his abysmal campaign.

I can’t believe Texans actually voted for him.

“Hell yes, we’re gonna take your AR-15” is a veiled threat too, but Twit(ter) didn’t see it that way because they are apparatchiks for the democrat socialist.

    • JJ New September 20, 2019, 7:24 am

Beto is a fool from El Paso. He got elected because El Paso is all Hispanic and more like New Mexico than Texas. As to why Hispanics vote for the idiot party (Democrats), I really don’t know. They are led by their leaders who lie to them because those Democratic politicians are trying to protect their elected positions. I wish Hispanics would vote the issues rather than be brainwashed by the Democratic political machine.
I don’t think most Hispanics are atheists, homosexuals, child molestors, and pro-abortionists. So why do they vote Democratic?

      • Tom Bokman September 20, 2019, 9:31 am

Because some like socialism. Just like some of all the other races (including whites) want the government to give them a “FREE” middle class life style.

      • E September 20, 2019, 10:43 am

The countries where many of them come from are socialist or socialist leaning. Many other groups like Koreans and Chinese also come from socialist-leaning countries. Many of these people believe that only the government should be sanctioned to use and carry guns. Some like in Korea have never seen a real gun. Most LE don’t carry real guns in Korea. Guns are vilified in many of those countries and they’re automatically synonymous with crime and criminals (cartels and mafia).

      • Tony September 20, 2019, 11:02 am

It is very easy to understand why the huge majority of the Hispanic population votes Democrat. The overwhelming majority of legal and illegal Hispanics in America are Catholic. I was told by one of the Mexican elders in my community that the church has told its flock to vote straight line Democrat or risk excommunication. I know that seems crazy but I trust this man and the other people that have told me this.

        • Tom Bokman September 20, 2019, 3:43 pm

I live in Florida and see a large Hispanic population. I doubt Trump could have won Florida if a “huge majority” of Hispanics voted Democrat. IMHO.

  • Mark September 16, 2019, 3:00 pm

Did Twitter delete Rep. Swalwell”s tweet when he threatened to “nuke gun owners”. That sure sounds like a threat to me.
