Back by popular demand, but for a limited time only, are Gen 3 Glock pistols with the company’s RTF2 checkering. Glock is offering pistols in Glock 19, Glock 17 and Glock 22 models with the RTF2 grips.
As this is a limited run only select Glock dealers will have these special handguns. You can find Glock dealers using the company Dealer Locator. The pistols are now shipping and may already be available in stores near you.
Although the Gen 3 RTF2 Glock 19s come with straight slide serrations, the full-size 17 and 19 pistols will give users the option of scalloped or “fish gill” serrations or straight serrations.
Short for Rough Textured Frame 2, pistols with the RTF2 checkering have a strong cult following. The scalloped slides were less popular so Glock is clearly marketing to both camps.
Funnily enough, the RTF2 grips were not very successful when Glock first introduced them. Since then many shooters have not only come to like the pattern but consider it one of the best frame textures ever made.
Prices for both straight and scalloped versions have risen steadily since the RTF2 series was discontinued. Today they’re popular both as working guns and as collectibles.

Glock’s been working hard to gain ground in the growing and increasingly competitive service pistol market. Their newest Gen 5 series continues to build on their legacy of hard-use duty pistols with a new frame style to serve military and consumer demands.

The company plans on releasing their MHS pistol, developed specifically for the U.S. Army and Air Force in the near future. Richard Flur, Glock head of sales, confirmed that the military pistol is headed to the commercial market.
The Army started MHS program to find a replacement for the aging M9 family of pistols in service since the mid-’80s. With newer designs on the market the military sought a more modern replacement.
While ultimately the Glock MHS pistol was not selected, it still sports many features that have a lot of consumer appeal. Plus it’s clear that some of these changes made their way into the Gen 5 Glocks.
And recently we’ve gotten a peek at what may lie ahead in Glock’s future — a very different, new Glock pistol with a rotating, not tilting, locking action.
With these new teasers and announcements, one thing’s clear: Glock still has another Glock to sell you.
