Savage missed the mark!
Savage has always represented great value and affordability for us common folk. I have nice Winchesters, Remingtons, Brownings, Colts, S&W’s, Rugers etc. but Savage was my first gun as a young man, so I always root for the underdog. I realize inflation has changed prices, but they should offer something more affordable. If they did this and the gun was up to snuff then they might make a headway into the overly saturated market.
I found quite a FEW 1911’s for 600 to 850 that’ll shoot the lights out … from a Local Firearms Dealer… they’re in the safe now !

For that money article needs to state where and how parts are made, DW for that money is barstock and Great warranty. You can’t just come into the 1911 market at 1500 with nothing special like maybe half inch moa at 25 yards or lights cigs when empty.Why not buy an sds for 359 send it to your gunsmith for mim swap and trigger job and your still out under 1000.SHOW ME THE MONEY! The savage is litterally in a small crowd of 1911’s with zero mim parts bro billet machined everything even the sear and the firing pin is titanium.
So how much MIM are we talking about? At least the frame and slide are billet forged. But for that kind of money, I’ll buy a Dan Wesson. I will say, however, that all-stainless model is sexy.

You get what you pay for. If you want a $700 1911, RIA or EAA has your gun. However, if you want to compete with the big guys, you need a superior firearm. That’s going to cost more than a factory standard gun. Sorry if you can’t handle that fact

I remember back in the 80s S&W used to dis on 1911s. Now they make em.
Before it’s over we’ll probably be seeing 1911s from Henry, Charter Arms, Marlin and KelTek.
I think I’ll wait until Weatherby gets on the money train.

I did not see any bragging about “made in USA.” Some of us commentators assumed made in USA. What is the country of origin? I missed that in the article. We have Colt. We used to have Remington, Para USA and Auto Ordnance. Ruger made 1911s for awhile. Do they now? Most Springfield Armory 1911s are assembled in the US but the parts come from Brazil. Where does the Savage come from? Just askin’.
100percent machined billet everything down to the sear right there in Massachusetts. It’s not Savages fault that Massachusetts isn’t america.
Come on, way too much $$$. Build a decent American made 1911 for $699!!!
For the cost comparison… I’d rather purchase another Colt.

Ironic given Savage darn near beat the Colt 1911 in Military acceptance trials with their model 1907 I believe it was, in .45 ACP.
