SIG Sauer is out on SHOT Show 2022.

The New Hampshire-based manufacturer sent out a press release this week explaining the decision.

“Each January, NSSF [National Shooting Sports Foundation] hosts SHOT Show – the industry’s premier tradeshow. As a strong supporter of NSSF, and an industry leading manufacturer, SIG has maintained a very large presence at SHOT Show and we continually grow our support for the organization, and our show presence, year after year.

“However, after thoughtful consideration, deliberation and a review of current circumstances, SIG SAUER has made the decision to not exhibit at the upcoming 2022 SHOT Show and will alternatively be making a $500,000 donation to NSSF to support both its mission and ongoing critical support of our industry,” stated SIG.

SIG said it wasn’t an easy call, as it came after much thoughtful deliberation.

“Our number one priority throughout the pandemic has been, and will remain, our employees. SIG SAUER has an extremely large presence at SHOT Show sending over 140 employees to the show and our pre-show Range Day event. Maintaining this presence, or even a scaled back minimum presence for 2022, represents a significant health risk to all 2,600 of our employees across our 13 U.S. locations, as individuals attending the show return to our facilities and risk continued exposure to our entire employee base,” said SIG.

Along with health concerns, SIG evaluated the attending SHOT Show 2022 from a financial standpoint.

“For the first time in many years, the SHOT Show space was redrafted, necessitating the need for a complete booth re-configuration and design. Out of pocket expenses from this point forward will be well over $1 million and based on the uncertainty of large scale shows and events, this expense is not financially prudent,” SIG explained.

Registration for SHOT Show officially opens next week. Attendees may register on Monday, Oct. 18, and media may register on Wednesday, Oct. 20.

SHOT Show 2022 will be held on Jan. 18-21 at The Venetian Expo and the all-new Caesars Forum. A total of 800,000 square feet will be available for the show.

SIG is the first major gun maker to announce it’s not going to exhibit. The obvious question now is will others follow suit?

Stay tuned for updates.

    SIG who?

  • Larry Rice October 19, 2021, 5:33 pm

This has nothing to do with Covid, this is part of the Biden Administration Build Back Better Program, this is a Political and Financial decision by Sig Sauer. Like many companies now are forced to comply with the administrations woke policies or suffer the financial and political consequences, do what we want or we will cancel your contracts and bankrupt your business. This is the result of losing an election to a Marist Political Party. Sadly, this is the beginning of the end to Sig Sauer as we know it. Sadly, paying $500,000 indulgence to NSSF will not satisfy those of us that believe in the 2nd Amendment.

Looks like Sig wanted to maintain its booth presence. Redesign at $1M is a lot. If this was a public display by Sig to make the Shot Show team make the booth sizes the same as years before (or other behind the scene concession), Sig may change their mind. Another option is that Sig sees the financial issues looming from current administrations spending (high inflation rate).

So, SIG is saying the vaccine does not work, or they do not encourage vaccines, or cant send folks that have the vaccine?

    • Karl Edgren October 16, 2021, 6:05 pm

It doesn’t mean that at all so stupid to make ridicules remarks

    • xx February 23, 2024, 3:01 pm

How is that BS vaccine for a scam virus working for you now?

  • Grampa October 15, 2021, 4:31 pm

Judging from the other comments, I have the unpopular opinion that sig is making a good move. While I don’t give them any brownie points for playing the covid game, I feel that the 500k donation to the NSSF will probably have a much more positive effect on 2A rights than the 1M+ that they would’ve spent on their shot show escapades.

They make a decision, I make a decision. They don’t show, I don’t buy. In my M1 days, there were no Sig stuff in my Army and I survived. They can survive without me !

SHOT Show has been being deconstructed into a joke since before covidiocy.

They let it get out of control allowing every swag-gathering straphanger who happens to be in the time zone in and then over-reacted in trying to reign that nonsense in.

We pulled the plug on SHOT after 3 iterations, sold our professional display set up and never looked back.

Legions of jerks elbowing past authentic wholesale and distributor clients only to repeat over AND OVER; “got any free stuff?!?”

I guarantee that while covidiocy may have played a part in Sig – and others’ decisions – it was merely the last straw at least until the organizers get their pooh together.

    Todd.

What a cowardly and/or transparently political decision for Sig to make. Whether sucking up to Fauci’s lies or being bent over by their Pentagon contract masters, this has the same smell as when the old S&W made a deal with Clinton on gun control. S&W booted that guy, grew strong, and now is leaving the kommisariate of New England. It was about ethics and freedom. I guess SIG will either learn this lesson or just suck up to their now clown show Pentagon masters.

  • MrInBetween October 15, 2021, 1:17 pm

This does not make any sense. Everything is going down infections, deaths and etc. As if that actually mattered with a 99.8 percent chance of survival. I don’t own a sig was planning on one soon but may have to rethink giving my money to someone who believes that their employees would be at risk for anything. Kind of shows that even our 2A companies are being infiltrated buy woke leaning idiots.

Sig continues to show that they’re the virtue signalling junk peddlers of the shooting community. I can think of a number of reasons why they aren’t showing and just using “Oh no! It’s COVID!” as a smokescreen…most of them involve litigation where their junk injured the users.

Well, no more digs for me. Was really considering the purchasing the Cross. I guess I’ll go Christensen Arms MPR.

  • John Richard Stanton October 15, 2021, 11:31 am

Wonder if sig checked with dr. falsi before deciding not to participate in the next show? Maybe if sig vaccinated all its firearms….!

  • Mike in a Truck October 15, 2021, 10:46 am

Whelp. That 365 I was planning to buy this afternoon will have to find another home.

  • Austin c October 15, 2021, 10:17 am

Who really cares about covid bs still people need to shutup and quit being babies u have more chance dying from car wreck or cancer, have never worn a mask period anywhere if they require it they dont get my business, every friend and family member has had it

  • Don October 15, 2021, 9:54 am

Aren’t they planning on attending in 2023 either? They will still have to spend the 1mil. then to reconfigure their booth. Why not spend it for the 2022 show, get SOME benefit from it then, and be all set for the next few years? Instead, they decide to spend $500,000 now (getting little/no return) and still are faced with the 1mil. price tag to redo the booth for 2023.

  • Andrew October 15, 2021, 9:16 am

This is a poor decision on the part of Sig. This bug has a 99.8% survival rate for those under 65 & at this point most people are vaccinated. It is a cave to the woke crowd and if you actually follow the science is a over reaction to the bug. Just my 2 cents.

  • Tom Davis October 15, 2021, 9:03 am

My question would be this, with Sig now being the main sidearm used by our military and a very considerable contract awarded to them, would our “lack of” administration and the paling Pentagon have a hand in this. Seems as though anyone, any company or industry that goes against the grain is “advised” to rethink their business practices.

This will make the Democrats happy, their investment with their Chi-comm partners in Wuhan is paying off

  • Donald Offenbacher October 15, 2021, 8:53 am

I commend the Sig Sauer officials for their support of employees health concerns. I also commend them for being fiscally responsible and for supporting NSSF.
Sig will continue to be my weapon of choice..

  • Mike October 15, 2021, 8:48 am

This a a horrible time to suddenly decide not to support Shot Show. I understand and respect your decision. But, the industry needs you support now more than you need to save money. Even a scaled down appearance would be better than just turning your back on Shot Show.

    • James October 21, 2021, 8:57 am

They’re still supporting the NSSF and SHOT with a half a million dollar donation.

  • Robert Frasconi October 15, 2021, 8:05 am

    Memo to SIG:

    This is a Plan-demic, not a pandemic.

Ths is a hostile Communist/Corporatist/Fascist takeover disguised as a medical emergency.

Build Back Better and The Great Reset are U.N. and globalist plans to destroy America and her bedrock freedoms and to replace the dollar with a digital, trackable, currency.

    Vaccine passports are global I.D.s.

These are all steps in erecting the Satanic Beast system where men and women will be completely subjugated in an authoritarian/totalitarian dystopia.
