SilencerCo, one of the biggest names in the American suppressor industry, and one of its biggest promoters, just launched a new, premium AR-15-pattern lower receiver. This will be a must-have for SilencerCo and AR fans alike.
A billet lower, the SCO15 by SilencerCo, is machined from 7075-T6 alloy aluminum, with a hard-coat Type III anodized finish, that includes a handful of improvements over conventional lower receivers worth touting. Chiefly is its ambidextrous design.
The SCO15 features a semi-proprietary ambidextrous bolt catch similar to a PDQ lever. This bolt catch works normally on the left side of the receiver and can be toggled up or down from the right side, even one-handed. This opens up a number of quick reloading techniques and of course, makes it handy for lefties.
Additionally, the receiver has ambidextrous quick-detach sling swivels machined into the reinforced receiver extension. This allows users to mount a QD sling straight to the receiver without an endplate adapter, which increases the receiver’s compatibility with a wider variety of stocks. It’s also just a handy spot to fix a sling to.
The safety position is marked on both sides for use with all kinds of aftermarket safeties including 90- and 45-degree selectors. The magazine release is standard but like the selector, compatible with ambidextrous release levers as well.
Rounding things out is the SCO15’s enlarged, flared magwell and integral trigger guard. All of the critical receiver points are beefed up and ruggedized to last.
That said, it’s not an overly stylized design, with minimal markings on the logo side and the serial side. All at a reasonable $249 price point.

To be clear, these kinds of specialty lowers often carry a severe price premium, but the SCO15 is in-line with other billet receivers. That means these will sell out fast. They will probably retain their value over time, too.
Right now just about every gun is a sure seller, but in a market where everything must go, these are guaranteed to go first. Whether you’re shopping for a high-end AR-15 lower with ambi features or are just a big SilencerCo fan, the SCO15 is for you.

Another “feature” in an effort to continue to drive sales. Totally flacid imho. This is as bad as creating a solution looking for a problem. If you’re really interested in helping southpaws, how about more left discharge upper/bolt combos instead of having to rely on STAG ARMS to spit them out, or forcing southpaws to “conform” to rightists? I saw this ideological dung in catholic school and it always, always irritated me. Now, my son is a southpaw.
I’m not sure how anyone can compare an Anderson lower or palmetto State Armory Parts with high-quality receivers. First off a Billet receiver is always a better option they look better and are a lot tougher. all of you complaining about a $250 price tag probably have never bought or built a rifle worth more than a couple hundred bucks because I can tell you in the end when looking at you are finished product do you want it to look like every other $500 AR15 or do you want it to be a work of art ? Just my opinion but I think it’s awesome looking and I really like the ambi bolt release design it looks like it will be a more natural feel to operate. Just remember this is a BMW looks better and sells for more than a Cobalt for a reason. You cannot compare Anderson, PSA, and other $40 forged receivers, complete rifles and sub-par parts to real quality machined parts and high end rifles.

Wow… Pricy! You can get a ambi lower receiver from Aero Precision for $175.00! You can use the $75.00 savings to start decking out your new ambi lower with a budget fire control group, enhanced carbine buffer kit, or a fancy oversized trigger guard! So you have to ask yourself is the extra quick detach sling points and integral trigger guard worth $75.00?! If your answer is yes… Then by all means, buy one! It’s your money, spend it how you want! But choose carefully and wisely!
Why would I want to pay $250.00 for a stripped reciever from SilencerCo? When I can buy an Anderson reciever for $40.00 or $50.00 (yes I know prices maybe higher at this present time) and with an extra $200 I can almost buy a entire upper and lower build kit from Palmeto State Armory (for around $380.00)? I know that gun prices are at a premium right now. But $250.00 buys a lot of parts especially in a nonelection year. Now I do think that this reciever does have some cool features and programming the CDC machine takes a skilled worker but $250 for a single part?This company is banking on cashing in on the very high demand of firearms right now and gouging their customers. But I guess that’s the American way right now. But it’s not my way so they won’t get any of my money. I would recommend finding a lot cheaper reciever and spend that extra money on parts (if your left handed) magazines and especially ammo (if you can find it)!
All my lower receivers are ambi setup, because I am a lefty; but all the ambi addons still doesn’t come to $250. Too much markup, and price gouging on these builds going on! I can still make a quality ambi build without pricing it off the table for the lefty shooter who just wants the same convenience as the righty shooter next to him gets, daily, from manufacturers!
I disagree, 250 for a billet lower from a boutique brand is a steal.
