Springfield 1911 Ronin Operator 4.25″ 9mm

The new 1911 Ronin Operator 4.25” 9 mm from Springfield Armory brings modern styling and precision manufacturing to the timeless 1911. It has a profoundly classic look with all the features today’s shooters expect at an entry level price. Using the highest quality materials and forged components, the Ronin Operator is truly built for a lifetime of service. Featuring a lightweight aluminum alloy frame, this 1911 was designed to be carried. It comes with a soft sided pistol case, additional fiber optic rods, and 1 x 9-round magazine with base pad. Currently the Ronin Operator comes in two configurations: a 5” Full-size and a 4.25” Commander both available in either 9 mm or .45 ACP, and all have a two-tone finish.

All Ronin Operators feature a forged carbon steel slide with a hot salt bluing treatment bringing back that traditional 1911 look. The flats on the slide are polished while the rounded edges and top of the slide are matte. A fiber optic front sight is paired with a serrated tactical rack white dot rear sight. A tactical rack ledge allows you to manipulate the slide, on clothing or an object, one-handed. The hammer has been skeletonized and serrated for added grip. The single-sided serrated thumb safety engages easily, and the serration lines flow to match the slide release.

The barrel is a 4.25” forged stainless steel, match grade, with a 1:16 twist. The chamber is fully supported for ultimate reliability and strength. This is Springfield’s first Commander size 1911 with a barrel bushing. A barrel bushing offers slightly better fit then bull barrels and keeps the weight down. The fit and lockup are rock solid. The recoil system is a Commander length GI Style guide rod.

The lightweight alloy frame is forged aluminum featuring a satin aluminum Cerakote finish. Weighing in at just 31 ounces, the alloy frame is 10 ounces less than the steel frame Ronin Operator. The beaver tail grip safety features a “memory bump” that ensures positive engagement. A checkered mainspring housing provides texture for a strong grip. Springfield’s traditional crossed cannon logo sits on the laminate walnut wood grips with a hybrid smooth/checkered finish, which complement the traditional theme. Satin grip screws match the finish on the frame and make the grips stand out. Springfield updated the trigger to their Gen 2 Speed Trigger. It’s an aluminum skeletonized trigger with a crisp break and short reset.

The Ronin Operator is a traditional looking 1911 with modern aesthetics. MSRP on all 1911 Ronin Operators is $849.

Need more information on Springfield Armory micro 911 in 9mm.

  • Griffendad December 4, 2020, 9:11 am

I’ll stick with my Colt Lightweight Commander. Virtually the same specs except Novak sites. Awesome piece, never had a hiccup from the first round, no mim parts either.

  • Enrique Rivera December 3, 2020, 5:13 pm

With so many optionsalready available in 9mm I don’t see a need for yet another 1911 chambered in 9mm, single stack magazine. None whatsoever!!! But that’s just me!!

  • Jeff Wallace December 3, 2020, 10:13 am

    How much for this 1911.45 41/4 9mm

  • Skip December 3, 2020, 10:00 am

A very good unboxing review of a terrific value in a 1911.
For a “carry” gun, Springfield hit the mark exactly.. NO adjustable sights and no ambi safety. Just right!
A gun to carry, use, and fight with if necessary. No fluff.

No ambi safety? Sorry but this southpaw disagrees in a BIG way. Nothing like buying a gun and immediately having to add parts because lefties don’t count.

      • Delco December 8, 2020, 2:33 pm

Absolutely my fellow lefty. Skip is one of those rookies who Drop off their guns do have the scope mounted.

How does it compare to the EMP lightweight champion 4” model ? That is one fine pistol, imo. This Aluminum Ronin model appears similar in weight, design, just a more basic model.

  • The SGM December 3, 2020, 7:33 am

“Crisp break, short reset, and little take up.” And how heavy is the trigger pull’ over 3.5 is what I want. And where is the adjustable rear sight? No sale without these.

    • Phillip DeWitt December 3, 2020, 9:50 am

The rear sight is obviously adjustable for windage. Nice looking pistol.

  • Tim Stecz December 3, 2020, 6:52 am
