California Dem Running for President Says Confiscating ‘Assault Weapons’ is a Top Priority

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors S.H. Blannelberry This Week

California Congressman Eric Swalwell is running for president. And as a way to separate himself from the crowded field of Dems angling to win the party nom and take on Trump in 2020, Swalwell has made his anti-gun crusade the centerpiece of his campaign.

“I will be the first candidate to say that reducing gun violence has to be a top three issue,” Swalwell told Esquire. “Last year I wrote a bill calling for a buyback and ban on assault weapons — not just to ban future manufacturing, but to just take the 15 million that are out there and buy them back.”

How can the government purchase something back that never belonged to it in the first place?

But even supposing it can, what would eradicating the existence of “assault weapons” actually do to reduce crime? The answer is virtually nothing.

The FBI tells us that in 2016 rifles of any make or model were used in approximately 3 percent of firearm homicides. Even as it relates to mass killings, the number of “assault weapons” used to carry out the attacks is relatively low.

The anti-gun rag Mother Jones found that from 1982-2012 black rifles were used in only 14 percent of mass killings, debunking — unintentionally, I might add — the notion that AR-15s are the “preferred weapon” of psycho killers.

Put another way, one is about nine times more likely to get murdered with a handgun than they are a rifle or shotgun or any other firearm. Also, don’t forget that the second deadliest school attack in U.S. history was perpetrated by a killer with two commonly owned handguns. In 2007, the Virginia Tech shooter murdered 32 people and wounded at least 17 more with a Glock 19 and a Walther P22.

Ban handguns, then, is the answer? Because that’ll stop the violence. Right? Wrong! Few people talk about this nowadays but the deadliest school attack in U.S. history was the Bath School Massacre in Michigan, which occurred in 1927, long before the AR-15 made its way to the market.

The killer used explosives, including dynamite, to blow up 38 elementary schoolchildren and six adults at the Bath Consolidated School. Fifty-eight others were injured in the massacre.

Point is an America without ARs — or even without guns for that matter — is still a dangerous place. Much in the same way banning dope doesn’t stop heroin addicts from booting up, restricting access to certain pieces of hardware doesn’t stop bad people from doing bad things. Violence is inherently a people problem, not a gun problem. One would hope an elected official would understand the significant limitations of gun bans as a means to curb violence. But Swalwell completely misses the mark. BTW, Mexico largely banned civilian gun ownership, and how’s that working out?

“I’m the only candidate calling for a mandatory national ban and buyback of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons,” he recently wrote in a Chronicle op-ed. “It’s bold and will cost money, but it is constitutional and it rightly treats gun violence as a life-or-death matter. Our children deserve better than an attempt to reduce or contain gun violence. Our goal must be to end it.”

Should we be surprised by Swalwell’s ignorance? Not at all. Remember, this is the guy that suggested he’d “nuke” gun owners who resisted his confiscation decree.

Yeah “Swallowell” say hello to your Chinese spy girlfriend for me. Care to tell us how many sensitive, national secrets you’ve revealed to her(or she’s uncovered)? Jackass.

We need our “assault weapons” for protection from power-mad scum, such as you.

  • Terry April 14, 2019, 5:38 pm

The dummacrats want to save our children?????? If so why do they support late term abortion???? They just want to disarm us so they can control us with no resistance. We must stick together and not surrender.

  • Jay April 14, 2019, 5:29 pm

We The People, need to hold any person who speaks out against our Nations Constitution accountable under our laws of Sedition and treason. We need to start with class action law suits and military tribunals against all these people who want to control us all for their benefit and power struggle over you. It’s now or never because latter you will have no rights left, as they are taking them one piece at a time!

  • ameriproud April 14, 2019, 2:36 pm

Boo Hoo. Tired of all the crying. When are we gonna do something about this before total confiscations
    ????????????????????????????????

    • Dave churbuck April 15, 2019, 1:11 pm

There is no WE, And the entire legal and military system is is owned by the democrats,
It is not your country and you are on your own in hostile terroroty. Get over it.

  • Beachhawk April 13, 2019, 5:41 pm

Can you imagine this clown getting any votes in the South, Great Plains or West (except California). He is a rather dumb, one issue candidate who has no legislative accomplishments since being elected to Congress.

  • DonM April 13, 2019, 10:21 am

Castro confiscated all the guns, right after national registration was required. Are we going to let zealots dismantle our constitution?

  • bill thompson April 12, 2019, 9:22 pm

The upside, this twit, with an IQ of a squirrel, will never be a serious contender much less president.

  • Tom April 12, 2019, 8:25 pm

I sure am glad the Dems have the assault weapons issue under control since only the military are the ones who have them. The rest of us are only allowed to have, at most, an Armlite 15 to hunt with and protect our homes and families. By calling a semi-automatic rifle that fires one round with each pull of the trigger and not multiple rounds and erroneously names them assault rifle just shows how unqualified they are to determine my constitutional rights.

  • Grant Stevens April 12, 2019, 8:19 pm

The Second Amendment is inviolate and means just what it says. Any politician who authors, sponsors, supports or votes for a bill that infringes upon the unalienable right of American citizens to keep and bear arms is committing treason and should be immediately removed from office. Any government bureaucrat who writes and/or enforces rules and regulations that infringe upon the unalienable right of American citizens to keep and bear arms should be immediately removed from office. Any federal agent or LEO who enforces such legislation and regulations is also in violation of their oath to the United States Constitution and should be resisted. Any American citizen who obeys such legislation and regulations is no longer a patriot and is an enemy of the Republic. Sic semper tyrannis!

  • Beachhawk April 12, 2019, 8:07 pm

Swalwell is a liar and an antigun fanatic. He has about as much chance of being elected president as Pee Wee Herman. He is a one issue candidate playing to the narrowest part of the Democrat party. No Republicans and very few independents are that extreme.

  • deanbob April 12, 2019, 7:56 pm

Just another lefty who can’t seem to understand 4 simple words, ” … shall not be infringed.” while is adept at saying several of Trumps actions are unconstitutional? Hypocrisy abounds within that group.

  • Dave Strong April 12, 2019, 7:44 pm

    Come get “em pretty boy….

  • Tommy wright April 12, 2019, 6:45 pm

You are a typical dumbass democrat to think you idiots could enforce such asinine rulings. Do you even know how many people in the USA that have guns. About 25,0000,000. You goober, if guns were the cause of crimes or murder to be what it is, there would be many, many more. How about enforcing the laws that are on the books. Then you would see gun crime go down.

  • Bayou Ogre April 12, 2019, 6:26 pm

Demoncrats will not be happy until we are all comrades in the Народно-демократическая республика Америка, People’s democratic republic of America. This @$$O is threatening the citizens of the United State with Nuclear war, if we don’t give up our second amendment rights. Lose that, and we lose all our rights!

  • Gus DeGuilio April 12, 2019, 6:12 pm

This is for all the gun grabbers, liberal Politicians and those who think they have all of the answers. Our 40th President said it best about gun control. “You won’t get gun control by disarming law-abiding citizens. There is only one way to get real gun control: disarm the thugs and the criminals, lock them up and if you don’t actually throw away the key, at least lose it for a long time… It’s the nasty truth, but those who seek to inflict harm are not fazed by gun controllers. I happen to know this from personal experience.” Ronald Reagan

  • Shan April 12, 2019, 5:58 pm

I live in Kalifornia and lemme just say fuck this little Bay Area lib tard. He seems like a traitorous pos.
I WILL NEVER comply with any of these ridiculous laws we have out here. Hell I am on my way out the door to go shooting in the woods right now. Gonna go test out all my regular magazines I ordered b4 the stay was issued. Picked myself up some AR mags, Glock mags, a cool AR 10 drum too. Oh and some factory Ruger mags for my minis. I swapped out all my bullet buttons with standard mag releases so eat my ass Gavin Dudes cum.
Lastly, anybody else think it’s ironic how much Dems talk about civil rights? Yet here they are constantly trampling ours. Hypocrites.
Ok gotta go shoot my AR15 fully semi auto machine gun assault rifle Rambo bump stock, in the foothills of California, behind enemy lines. RESIST.

The most irritating thing about this whole mess, of which Swalwell is a part, is the asymmetrical risk in the issue: all of the risk is ours, and they have none. This jerk, and others like him, need to be imprisoned, as a minimum.

    • Michael Howard April 12, 2019, 11:50 am

sure just hand over our guns then the thugs will have a license to do what ever they want any time they want.
it seems to me politicians want there 2nd amendment rights but would to take our rights away asap.
the next move will most likely be rewrite the us constitution giving themselves the power over life and death over its citizens.
the Constitution 2nd amendment was put in place for this reason,, to keep us safe from politicians who become or from tyrannical a government. the DEMS, if allow it the next thing that will happen is we will told that the guillotine
is a fair punishment and should be used any time we step out of line in the view of these politicians.

  • Michael April 12, 2019, 5:10 pm

He says it ‘is Constitutional’? That, alone, should be his downfall. He obviously has not Read, nor does he believe in, it, or the “Bill of Rights”. So, will he ‘infringe’ just the 2nd Amendment, or All of Them? Maybe we should Ask Him.

  • JIMBO April 12, 2019, 4:44 pm

Lost my vote. No way you will EVER get it.

Nothing ‘democrat” or “republican” about it, you nitwits.

Obama did NOTHING about guns; whereas Trump has completely “outlawed” bump stocks (in lnguage so broad that it can be construed to take every gun that ever existed.

Get your numb skulls out of this phony dicotomy –those who will take your guns are oblivious to party.

  • Pat April 12, 2019, 4:32 pm

The constitution is as woethless as a restraining order without the guaranteed use of deadly force backing it up. This is is a decision point people. We can either knuckle up and put a stop to this once and for all, or continue to bitch amongst ourselves and do nothing.

    • Stuart April 12, 2019, 12:07 pm

Unfortunately, we will never put a complete stop to this because there is always going to be ignorant people. They’re called liberals, and they reproduce like rabbits.

      • JIMBO April 12, 2019, 11:50 pm

    • Mad Mux April 12, 2019, 7:05 pm

Well put, I will add that to my argument quiver…although you and I will never change any minds with even the most irrefutably logical arguments. People get entrenched.

  • Ed Bernacki April 12, 2019, 4:17 pm

Glenn, if the time comes when the anti-gunners are successful in banning rifles like the AR-15 and AK-47, you don’t think they will come after your hunting rifles next? Maybe you don’t care to own one, but remember, we gun owners can’t be a divided house. That’s what the anti’s want to see.
When the bump stock ban went into effect on the national level, I didn’t agree with it. The ATFE caved in to pressure after the Las Vegas massacre, and decided they had to be banned. I don’t own a bump stock, never did, and now, never will, but I don’t think they needed to be banned. I bet that if the Vegas shooting hadn’t occurred, bump stocks would probably still be legal to own, just like machine guns were at one time.

    • Winston April 12, 2019, 12:01 pm

Pres. Trump, his DoJ and then-AG Jeff Sessions are those responsible for the bump stock ban- not the ATF. Trump is a total sell-out on his campaign points.

  • Jim Davenport April 12, 2019, 2:51 pm

I believe that Swalwell’s foray into the Democratic run for president will be short-lived, as I believe the circular firing squad that obama recently spoke of will have him listed as one of the first casualties. I don’t believe I’ve heard any interview with him that wasn’t ridiculous!

  • Rod Smalt April 12, 2019, 2:49 pm

Yeah, Swallowswell certainly HAS separated himself from the field of contenders. He’s assured himself a 1st round knockout…..of himself.

    • Kurt Welser April 12, 2019, 1:23 pm

Left wing political pundits like Eric Swalwell, try to enforce their narrow so called “liberal” views on the rest

of Americans who in the (sometimes silent) majority have commited opinions and lifestyles much different

and totally opposed to theirs. Primarily because they have little or often absolutely No Experience with the

issue they are trying to Forcibly change (ie. the legal ownership and use of firearms, as currently protected

by our constitutional 2nd amendment ) by infringing on their God given liberties. Confiscation one type of

firearm soon leads to confiscation of ALL Firearms, as History has shown ie. Adolf Hitler and others have

confiscated the firearms of all his people and of countries which he then deposed militarily with almost NO

resistance. A “military weapon” is simply a firearm (grenade, machinegun, or nuclear bomb) that is used in

the capacity of a weapon. As mentioned with regard to our protected constitutional rights (amendments) once any one

of our constitutional rights is removed or significantly altered it is a slippery slope and only a matter of time

until others are removed, “confiscated”,as well. Our freedom of speech is already being threatened (at least Free

conservative speech) , when our Government attempts to exert it’s control over groups of people by Force

Then those Law Abiding citizens who have the capacity and means to Resist will and must do so. Sadly they

will likely have to protect even those on the other side who were with the group that Sanctioned the illegal

confiscation of our (defensive) firearms. ” If you do not stand Firm in your Faith, then you will Not Stand

at all” Isaiah 7:9 (respectfully; Life member NRA, Competitor, Instructor, Vietnam Combat Veteran)

Anyone with even a little understanding of different rifle platforms and ammunition options knows that the AR-15 chambered in its most popular .223 variant packs a pretty mild recoil compared to similarly-powerful long guns. It is not a machine gun as you need to pull the trigger for each shot just like most semi automatic rifles. It was first made by Armalite Rifle which is where the AR abbreviation came from…
That’s precisely why it is so popular among shooters using the rifle for everything from law enforcement to home defense to sport— it’s not particularly loud, scary or difficult to shoot.
We don’t need a new gun ban. We need a ban on the political correctness dulling our collective ability to better recognize the people not worthy of society’s trust. And we need to do away with gun free zones. Any chance at all that a concealed carrier may have the opportunity to dispatch one of these bastards to hell before he racks up a high innocent body count sounds more sensible to me than does thinking that murderers obey gun laws.
It’s liberal ignorance and stupidity that’s bringing on all this bloodshed, not AR-15s.

  • Rangemaster11B April 12, 2019, 1:16 pm

The fact that this bozo thinks his idea is constitutional should be all anybody needs to hear as far as his qualifications to be president. Unfortunately, he won’t be the one ACTUALLY trying to confiscate any guns.

Like Alan said, Mr. Swalwell is not advocating anything that practically all the Democrats and RINOs don’t already advocate. The only difference is Mr. Swalwell is being honest. This is not out of any sense of morality, but because Mr. Swalwell is literally too naïve and stupid to lie about it.
Thank you, Mr. Swalwell, for helping us, the voting public, to identify the enemies of the Republic and our beloved Constitution. Hopefully you will lose in your endeavor to become President, and will also lose re-election to the US House of Representatives as well.

  • Earl Haehl April 12, 2019, 12:11 pm

First of all, you cannot buy back what you never owned. These people assume a compliant population like New Zealand. The “Untouchables” and Jimmy Hart never stopped my grandfather from relative prosperity earned from supplying the “wants” of Americans. Maura Healy has a proposal to disarm the folks in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts by sending out the State Police to Confiscate “miilitary style” weapons. Thomas Gage tried that. He sent battle hardened grenadiers and marines to arrest two prominent dissidents in Lexington where my fifth great grandfather resided and to confiscate a cache of munitions at Concord.

The general attitude was not a whole lot different from the attitude today. The population is as close to general armed insurrection than we has been since the founding of the Republic. We are about one serious incident away from a general insurrection. the situation on the ground was at a level of unrelated acts of civil disobedience–like the first few bubbles forming before the water hits the boiling point. On the morning of 19 April 1775 the residents of Middlesex Colony, Massachusetts Bay, were engaged in a revolution of minds–petition and demonstration. That morning, as the authorities were distracted by a group of young men, some of whom were veterans of the Seven Year’s War, with muskets, Paul Revere carried the luggage of the two dissidents, Sam Adams and John Hancock, to a carriage which would Transport Them to Philadelphia. Maybe three to five percent of the population of Massachusetts Bay supported what the tradesmen and farmers standing on the Green supported.

Instead of picking up Adams and Hancock and returning to Boston, the troops decided to move on to Concord where the cache had bee removed because the King’s forces were not real great at OPSEC and many of the servers and other customer contact staff were sympathizers of insurrection. Instead there were between 700 and 1000 armed colonists. On the trip home to Boston, the colonists followed up and collect dropped weapons, powder and shot. By nightfall on 19 April the Revolution had become the War.

As for a buy-back, there may be other buyers who will drive the price up. An criminal gangs will sell stolen and useless weapons to obtain capital to upgrade their arsenals.

    • Shan April 12, 2019, 6:08 pm

Now a days if we tried to form a militia what do you think the Gov and media would do? We would be labeled right wing Nazi terrorists. Our best shot is most likely a Convention of States. We have to put a stop to this constant undermining of our basic rights. Once we have exhausted that option than we might consider taking up arms. Idk. Scary times. I fear for our republic.

  • FirstStateMark April 12, 2019, 11:56 am

Two words for your illogical thought process (slippery slope).
Concede on one right and soon you will have to rights at all
PS: most AKs are as accurate as the person holding it.

  • Glenn A Goss April 12, 2019, 8:52 am

Most of you are on here making negative comments. I have several guns and once was a hunter. I doubt very seriously that anyone who is an avid hunter uses an AR15, AK47, etc. to hunt, so why is it necessary for anyone to have one of these in their collection? I saw him on TV and he is not advocating taking our hunting rifles. He is advocating buying back the rifles that are not very useful for hunting purposes. I have a legal 12 gauge pump riot shotgun for protection. An AK47, etc. is not a good home protection choice. I want to shoot the criminal entering my house and not my neighbor across the street. I would have a difficult time hitting an intruder because the AK is not an accurate rifle. Most people get all rilled up over nothing.

    • Responsible hunter April 12, 2019, 9:16 am

Really? What did you hunt? If only large game, an AR15 isn’t the best choice. However, for deer or smaller the AR works quite well. At our farm we have a coyote problem and an AR is perfect for that role.

As for home defense, if you can’t hit an intruder with an AK at 15 yards or less, you may want to rethink owning any firearms.

    • Json Gyver April 12, 2019, 9:21 am

The 2nd is not about hunting. It’s about a right we obtain through conception in the womb. The right to be protected and the right to protect, when we are able to, those things we hold most dear. Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. The 2nd doesn’t grant that right it recognizes it’s existence and with that simple little phrase, shall not be infringed, guarantees it to the people; especially those in the militia which is made up of everyday folk like you and me. If you’re not gonna get the issue straight in what you lay down for others to read, then don’t say anything, because misinformation is the deadliest of all.

The second amendment does not apply to hunting. The constitution guarantees citizens of the U.S.A. the right to have weapons for self-defense and to defend against a tyrannical government.
It has been step by step since the 1930’s that each gun control law makes more and more guns illegal. Do you think this is the end all, be all of gun laws? It would be just one more step toward disarming the citizens.
Wake up. (and learn to spell riled)

    • Cory April 12, 2019, 9:58 am

      Glenn,
You are mistaken. The AR-15 rifle is a top choice for prairie dog and coyote hunters.
The AK is not an inaccurate rifle. Its less accurate than an AR platform, but not less so than say, a handgun.

Necessity is NOT the basis for our Rights. It’s the government’s responsibility to justify any restriction on our rights, not our job to argue why we deserve to keep them.

The 2nd Amendment is not about hunting. Stop assuming only hunting guns have a legitimate purpose.
If we give up semi-automatic, magazine fed rifles, the next guns that will be targeted are your hunting rifles.
They’ll call it a “sniper rifle” and argue that “no one needs a gun that can shoot 600 yards and penetrate police body armor!”

If you think I’m being hyperbolic, it was proposed before, in the early 90s, but was defeated in Congress as unenforceable. Don’t be a Fudd. If we sell out here, we will lose down the road.

    • Gustavo Galar April 12, 2019, 10:04 am

Glenn, Your statement regarding an AK is off the target here. “Few” countries in the world disagrees with you about accuracy and effectiveness for self defense. If it doesn’t work for you, don’t assume that it won’t work for someone else’s. I’ll recommend for you to read the incident in San Diego California about the woman who had to defend herself against 3 intruders and good luck with your shotgun when the gang members(who btw will never sale their AKs ) came to your place

    • Bill B April 12, 2019, 10:04 am

Just where in the 2nd Amendment does it say hunting? I seriously doubt you are a gun owner let alone a hunter. If you are either then you need to read just what the Founding Fathers wrote about the 2nd.

    • kb31416 April 12, 2019, 10:13 am

Mr. Coss, you are wrong on many points:
      1. It is not the governments business what firearms I own, or why.
      2. An AR15 is a great rifle, both for hunting & self defense. in fact, most of the people that I hunt deer with use AR15s, usually in 300 AAC.
      3. As others have correctly stated, the 2A is not about hunting, and everything about protecting ourselves, our country and whatever from tyrannical government abuse.
So, you don’t want to have an AR15? That’s YOUR choice. Yo don’t get to make that MY choice.

    • Scott Rhodes April 12, 2019, 11:50 am

ughhmmm I hunt with a AK47-c with hollow point ammo best rifle for a all around game rifle so you are wrong their. It should be our choice if we own them or not

    • Tex April 12, 2019, 2:23 pm

Glenn….you are one simple minded, trusting fool. I don’t want a fool like this California turd making ANY kind of value judgment for me or anyone else. Who is to say I can’t hunt with an AR15 or AK platform rifle? The fact you don’t understand why some of us want and WILL ALWAYS have types of guns you feel are inadequate for “hunting” just underscores how ignorant about hunting and shooting sports you really are. Lastly…..if one class of firearms is declared illegal then how long do you think it will be before the libtards come after formerly legal “hunting” firearms? You are a sorry student of world history and far too trusting of those who would destroy a constitutionally guaranteed RIGHT!!! I hope you didn’t breed……..

    • Terry April 12, 2019, 5:57 pm

      Glenn,

I would invite you to learn a little history. Our Found Fathers had no concern about the your ability to hunt or protect yourself from a home invasion. The purpose of the Second Amendment was to insure that the citizens were equally and amply armed to thwart the wishes of a future tyrannical government. They were in the midst of debating the formation of a new government having just cast off one of tyranny.

Having just achieved the all but impossible task of defeating the world’s greatest army and navy which had enforced the rule of tyranny they did not wish to exchange it for another, particularly one self created. Understanding the natural “self interest” of all men, our Founding Fathers included in the Constitution/Bill of Rights an enumeration of all GOD given rights. One of the most important of these was the Second Amendment which gives the ability to protect all others rights by allowing the citizens of this nation to be themselves armed at all times. This “armed citizenry” has and continues to act as a deterrent to those to who might attempt to enslave this nation.

Again, the Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting, gun collecting, or home protection.

      • Shan April 12, 2019, 6:15 pm

A riot shotgun? Lmao. Dude go watch CNN or whatever it is morons do.

      • gunnery sgt December 17, 2019, 1:30 am

The constitution (including the second amendment) was written so as to not let history repeat itself. We had just got done with the revolutionary war to gain our freedom from a tyrannical government and the second amendment was added so that we would NEVER be governed by a tyrannical government again (yes they also tried to disarm patriots). See how history tries to repeat itself (facilitated by idiots like this libturd) and the reason why the constitution was written like it is. Our forefathers were much smarter and forward thinking than the likes of idiots like swallowwell (we are not “WE the sheeple”). The second amendment i’m sure our founding fathers thought it would come under attack and probably the reason it was spelled out in our constitution so history would not repeat itself and the reason why we are still a free nation. For those that are hell bent to take our rights away, you can still leave this country and immigrate to a county of your liking that doesn’t have gun rights protected. North Korea needs help in their forced labor camps building infrastructure and nukes and I’m sure we could set up a go fund me page to buy tickets to get you on your way. This is america, take it like it is or leave it. The second amendment like all of the others is not up for your personal interpretation nor subject for change. America – love it or leave it and leave our rights alone.

  • joefoam April 12, 2019, 8:37 am

He may be a rabid gun grabber but he doesn’t have a clue as to Americans top priorities. Gun control is at the bottom of the list for most citizens. As for a ‘buyback’ how many people are going to be willing to surrender their arms at a loss? And how are you going to track down over 10 million of them? There must be something in the water in CA and these legislators have been drinking too much.

  • krinkov545 April 12, 2019, 8:19 am

Thank the good Lord God for Leviticus 20:13, hiv aids! And gay bowel syndrome! Just saying.

  • JAY KEEFER April 12, 2019, 8:15 am

If this potential candidate wins the Democratic nomination we, as a nation, may to have to potentially deal with our present “LEADER” for another 4 years. Is that something we want to deal with?

    • Json Gyver April 12, 2019, 9:22 am

and the problem with that would be what?…. Take your time I’ll wait.

  • srsquidizen April 12, 2019, 7:57 am

So, we’ve got a Democrat member of Congress running for President who thinks nuclear weapons should be used on Americans who might resist unconstitutional laws. Meanwhile the media says we should worry about a tiny handful of obscure nobodies on the far right who walk around in brown shirts carrying signs.

  • CountryBoy April 12, 2019, 7:47 am

You can’t fix STUPID ……. and Swalwell has made a LOT of STUPID comments….

  • Michael C April 12, 2019, 7:33 am

If he is representing the government, and he implies the government has nukes that will be used against gun owners, I can only take this statement as a threat…a terroristic threat.

  • shrugger April 12, 2019, 7:28 am

We have to find a way, a way back from clown world
    …….honk.

  • George April 12, 2019, 7:28 am

Removing Politicians who violate the Constitution of the United States/Bill of Rights
must be an American Citizens “Top Priority”

  • Jason April 12, 2019, 7:27 am

If people could maintain a logical perspective on issues this conversation would be a non-starter. Just look at the legislation coming from California law makers and the results they are getting from pandering to the criminals who vote for them vs the effect it’s having on the law abiding citizens that have to live under their dictatorial leadership. The results speak for themselves. California is a sinking ship consumed by it’s self imposed, mutually assured destruction. Unfortunately, the citizens (not all, but enough) are blind to the truth because they prefer to believe the lies they are constantly spoon fed by the liers they elect.

  • Alan April 12, 2019, 7:22 am

He may be the only one sying it out loud but the rest of the dems and many rinos are with him on this.

    • Altoids April 12, 2019, 8:04 am

Yeah you beat me to it.

Absolutely true, no matter what any Democrat candidate says, they’re all for abolition of the Second Amendment and the private ownership of firearms.

  • Ruger1 April 12, 2019, 7:07 am

WTF??? Nuke Gun Owners?? Hahaha…. What do You Expect from a Loon that lives in Commiefornia… The Land of Fruits and Nuts!!!! Good Luck on that one SwallowsWell… Keep Poking the Bear LibTard!!!!

Every time this imbecile opens his mouth, my opinion of him drops further….and it started out at rock-bottom to begin with. SMDH

  • BigC April 12, 2019, 7:04 am

Did that F’n idiot actually just threaten to use NUKES on Americans?? Yeah, that’s the kind of president we want, right? Where do the GD Democraps come-up with these PsOS???

  • Jerry Jones April 12, 2019, 7:03 am

Typical Leftist who is clueless about the US Military……. How many serving in uniform would consider it a “Lawful Order” to Kill fellow American Citizens in effort to deny them a Constitutional Right…..

    • Xgunner69 April 12, 2019, 10:10 am

The idea that if the military is used to confiscate weapons deemed “illegal” that they won’t kill citizens…needs to stop. They will do what they are told. Maybe some will balk at the idea, but most, if not all, will follow orders. The threat of immediate execution in the field for non compliance will become the norm.

  • Steve Warren April 12, 2019, 6:57 am

The Dems are getting ready for a replay of the 1972 presidential election when an uber-liberal George McGovern suffered at 49-state landslide defeat to Richard Nixon. Yes, you read that right, he only won one state. So just let them Dems nominate one of these leftist candidates. Pray that they will.

  • Scott Zickefoose April 12, 2019, 6:50 am

This is part of the strategy. Ban the type that is “ugly”, but isn’t used in much crime. Then go after the evil “sniper rifle” (hunting rifle with scope). When that doesn’t cause crime to drop go after shotguns because they are “so effective”. When that doesn’t work go after handguns because “that’s what crooks use”. Still won’t solve the problem because, as the article says that the crooks won’t give up their’s.

    • DonLeo April 13, 2019, 6:01 am

And after handguns they will focus in on the evil Red Ryder BB gun and then to the slingshot, Jackknife and finally the most horrifying weapon ever devised by man, the POINTY Stick! 😱, seriously though look at what’s happening in Europe and other parts ofthe world. The road to hell is paved with so called good intentions combined with stupid politicians

  • The SGM April 12, 2019, 6:47 am

This idea just shows how limited his ability and knowledge is when it comes to Constitutional interpretation. Interpreting and understanding the document means one must not only read the Constitution but must also read, digest, understand and apply the many existing laws and SC decisions and supporting Ammendments; this guy is just a noise maker but a dangerous one.

  • Darcie Concemi April 12, 2019, 5:53 am

This guy is out of his mind, it’s bad enough he’s a congressman, now he wants the presidency. This guy shouldn’t be walking the streets. You can’t change ignorance, but if he wants a war, he’ll get one.

  • Linc Qimiq April 12, 2019, 5:28 am

I don’t need to shoot with my Ak-47 at school.. criminals are stupidly to shoot at school !!!! It’s for my self defense!!!

  • Tar Heel Realist April 12, 2019, 5:19 am

Good luck Swallowsall, you better bring help.

  • Sean Carberry April 12, 2019, 5:08 am

If he gets too close some gun nut will end him…i could only hope. But his ridiculous platform of mandatory confiscation will use all money for a campaign that will fall flat, he will lose to sanders or biden and then would have to face trump if even got that far…he’ll end up broke and a laughing stock afterward.

  • Michael M April 12, 2019, 4:51 am

Eric who? I’m from California and I’ve never heard of him.

Assault rifles are a boogeyman created and perpetuated by the high profile coverage of mass shooters in the media. As the article states per the FBI 3% of all firearms related deaths were by assault style rifles. I think addressing the other 97% of firearms deaths is a tad bit more important. This guy is a putz playing to the media.

  • Trevor_Phillips April 12, 2019, 4:16 am

Shows you how out of touch swallowswell and the rest of the libtards are.

  • Gudrun E HAFNER April 12, 2019, 4:10 am

So, as president this POS is going to nuke gun owners? Not hardly!

  • Dilligaf April 11, 2019, 3:28 pm

Yeeeeaaaaaah big guy, come and try to take my guns…..I dare you! Just a reminder……the British tried to take our guns back in the late 1700’s…….WE SHOT THEM

  • Rez ipsa loquitur April 10, 2019, 11:58 am
