Revolvers built for self-defense are chambered in a wide variety of calibers. From mousey 22 LR and 22 Magnum rimfire (pass on these puny calibers) and oddball calibers like 327 Federal Magnum on up to the old standbys, 38 Special, and 357 Magnum.

The Model 66-8 Combat Magnum lives up to the K-frame’s reputation. In my opinion, a .357 magnum is a good choice for self-defense, and I’d prefer to carry the .357 Magnum in a revolver like the S&W Model 66 Combat Magnum.
