Taurus USA is expanding on its recently improved and popular G3 with the new G3c, a compact polymer-framed double-stack pistol for concealed-carry. The G3c picks up where the G2c left off, combining the improved features of the G3 with the concealability of the G2c.
Like the G2c, the G3c has a compact frame and a shorter slide and barrel compared to the full-size G3. It’s chambered for 9mm Luger and feeds from 12-round steel magazines.
Improvements from the G3 include dropping the tactile loaded chamber indicator with a simpler witness hole with no moving parts. The slide is serrated at the back and the front for press checks and other slide manipulation techniques and the slide has a corrosion- and wear-resistant Tenifer finish.
Other small parts including the magazine release, slide release, and manual thumb safety have a black Teflon finish for better lubricity and reliability.
Taurus also redesigned the sights with a more conventional rear dovetail sight and the G3c comes with black serrated steel rear sights and a big white dot steel sight up front.
The big change from the G2c to the G3c is the updated trigger. While it functions the same mechanically, the new trigger has a wide flat face that doubles as a passive trigger safety. The trigger also has a shorter trigger reset for fast and accurate follow-up shots.
The trigger system on the G3c is single-action with restrike capability. That means that if the shooter suffers a light primer strike or similar malfunction, the trigger resets to a longer point and works as a double-action trigger that cocks and releases the striker with a single pull of the trigger.
Taurus also updated the frame a bit for the G3 and likewise, the G3c. The new style grip features larger traction pads all around for improved control compared to the previous generation. The frame is scalloped for thumb support and for “memory pads” or small reliefs above the trigger to remind shooters where to put their trigger fingers when not in use.
The magwell of the frame and the magazine baseplates have similar scallops to give shooters better purchase on the magazines if they have to strip them out in adverse conditions.

A subtle but important change to the frame is the new style of accessory rail. Taurus updated the rail design to accept a wider range of accessories like lights and laser sights.
Overall the size and weight remain the same. The G3c has a 3.2-inch barrel, measures in at 1.2 inches wide at the widest and weighs 22 ounces unloaded, making it just right for everyday concealed-carry.
As expected, Taurus isn’t charging a lot extra for the improvements. The suggested retail price for the standard G3c is only $305, with real-world and online pricing probably a good deal less than MSRP. That price includes three 12- or three 10-round magazines.

WOW, a really cool gun you can’t find for sale anywhere
The only thing that I see different from my old school PT 111 G2 is the shorter reset on the trigger. Mine has the thumb rest and trigger finger rest and restrike capability.I would have to get different night sights to fit this and probably different magazines and different Armalaser green laser. Nope… I’ll stick with my very dependable PT 111 G2 thank you!

And yet another one that has a thumb safety, but only on one side which is of no use to the left handed shooter. Apparently, our money is of no use to Taurus.
Unfortunately, for front pocket carry 6” seems to be the overall length for invisibility in all pants except for very tight pants. This pistol is 6.3” according to factory spects.
the loaded chamber indicator on the g2 is goofy. glad they updated that.
So the G3c is the scaled down G3 which in turn is the scaled up G2c with upgrades which is the PT111G2 with upgrades which is…
In other words, kinda like the different Glock generations?
