The Drool-Inducing Fox A Grade Shotgun - NRA 2017

The Fox A Grade series presented by Savage.  MSRP: $4,999.

The new Fox A Grade side-by-side shotgun is the kind of gun that can get me in trouble. Upon seeing it, I really, really fell in love.  I didn’t even ask about the price.  Because I knew if I had to ask, then I couldn’t afford it (Yup, boy was I right about that).

There is a lot to love in this package. It really is “Grade A” material. Between the American black walnut stock to the precision cut checkering to the brass bead sights, every little detail… every little thing she does is magic!

That’s what I started singing to myself because it’s not so much a gun but a work of art, really.  Fondling Handling it was amazing.  Everything about it felt right.  The weight, the balance, the break action, the way it points — everything.

And you know, comparatively speaking, for a double-barrel heirloom quality shotgun, $5,000 isn’t that bad of a price point.  See what I did there?  I’m already talking myself into buying one at the very real risk of being terminated by my GF.

The Fox A Grade Shotgun.

For you collectors out there, this is definitely one to look out for. While the price point doesn’t change from model to model, you do have some options in terms of gauge and barrel length. That is you can choose between 12 GA and 20 GA and 26 and 28-inch barrels.

I didn’t even ask about the price. Because I knew if I had to ask, then I couldn’t afford it????
How much did they pay this guy to write this commercial about an overpriced double gun?

    • Tom Collins August 7, 2017, 10:46 pm

I have known “this guy” for over 20 yrs. He has done more for the shooting sports than anyone I know, and is a true gentleman. If Pat say or recommends an item. You can take it to the bank!

  • Mike Watkins May 2, 2017, 1:53 am

    Sorry, I did not drool.

If you watch the video for the shotgun on Savage’s web site, they are working on a pistol-gripped stock with a steel grip cap. Hmm. No ejectors available for a $5k side by each? C’mon Savage! And only a plastic gun case? Shoot I got a canvas and leather case for my Smith & Wesson elite gold nearly 10 years ago. Glad you are bringing back the tradition of hand-crafted long guns. Now give us options!

    TOTALLY a RICH man’s Collectable!
What I could do wid $5000 Dineros, lets see??
A new CCW handgun, a new cat’s meow AR platform, maybe even my first .50 BMG 😉
But a new SXS, NOT HARDLY!

Outside looks great, but no slotted barrel extension with the classic Brown Rotory bolt lock-up, that made the Ansley H. Fox such a smooth and forever tough action.

Looks beautiful like a Fox Sterlingworth case colored action.

Perhaps iris aquality Turkish CNC product copied Anson and Deely boxlock with double locking bolts.

    Should be priced at $3,000.00

The price is a bit heart stopping, but the rest is do-able. Two barrels/two triggers – I like that & the automatic safety, although annoying is livable. The price is the big deal & for the present, I don’t think I’ll be able to overcome that . . .

  • Dewey May 1, 2017, 9:32 am

Not a Fox, AT ALL. No rotary bolt, different cocking system, different ejector system. It appears to be a superficially restyled RBL from CSMC.
What, exactly, does “heirloom quality” mean?

  • KIM May 1, 2017, 9:02 am

NO THANKS, FOR THAT PRICE YOU COULD OWN A REAL CLASSIC LIKE A PARKER

  • Greg Meyer May 1, 2017, 8:52 am

What is the difference between a price and a price point?

  • Roger Anderson May 1, 2017, 8:37 am

It looks like a great double, but the automatic safety ruins it for me!

    • MB May 1, 2017, 9:02 am

Totally agree. That’s the reason I didn’t buy a Blaser double rifle. Auto safeties are annoyingly unnecessary.

  • chris Alisi May 1, 2017, 6:49 am

if were available in 16 gauge I would buy one

  • martianone May 1, 2017, 4:39 am

Have one of those “milestone” birthdays in a couple months,
