Curious to see which store locations will survive the Gander Mountain bankruptcy and be reborn under the new “Gander Outdoors” umbrella?
Well, Marcus Lemonis, the CEO of Camping World Holdings, the company that recently acquired the Gander Mountain portfolio and properties at auction, announced on Twitter a short list of stores that will remain open for business after the dust has settled.
As Lemonis noted in the tweet, this list is not final!

Lemonis said on Periscope that his goal is to keep approximately 70 retail locations up and running. That’s a little less than half of the 162 stores that made up the Gander Mountain empire.
The litmus test for the fate of each store is whether he sees a “path to profitability,” said Lemonis.
On the subject of firearms, Lemonis tweeted that firearms have historically represented the company’s “biggest category” and that they “won’t go away.” Even more promising, Lemonis mentioned that his new company’s prices would be better than his predecessor’s.
We’ll have to wait and see what the new “Gander Outdoors” looks like. If Lemonis keeps true to his word, it may finally become a competitively priced location to purchase firearms.
I have a $50 gift certificate for Gander Mountain stores. I called the Gander Outdoors store near me and was told (not their words but same results) “too bad, so sad”. This sucks. Where do I go from here? I tried to find a site for it, but it just kicks me over to Gander Outdoors.
They must have the same management as the old Sears stores.
They have a terrible management philosophy, and it shows even in the rude and unknowledgeable employees.
Take some advice from us that have spent our time wandering around in the stores – go to the range instead.
Can always buy a gun(s) and ammo online cheaper anyways
Over here in Bowling Green, KY Camping World is on the west side of the interstate-65 and on the east side is Gander Mountain. They both face each other. LOL Anyways, it would be cool to see the RV+Camping World stores blend into the Gander Outdoors stores. This would compliment all of the outdoor activities under one roof. It would have and edge over Cabalas.
This is weird… While my hometown Gander Mountain store in Mentor, Ohio is slated to stay open (yea!) the list includes the one in Sheffield.. That store closed months ago before the chain was even sold; its demise being the result of Cabela\’s opening a retail store just a few miles away.. This inclusion therefore doesn\’t seem to make any sense…
The Lake Mary store has a gun range and a training academy. Glad to see them still open!
Whenever I drove through Texarkana I would stop at the Gander store and shop for reloading supplies, the prices were competitive and they had a good stock. Sadly it looks like that one is closing.

Liquidation my left foot discounts I don’t think so visited one yesterday and prices are way higher than they used to be these people are nothing but flip and rip-off artists….the discount on ONE box of .22 ammo (RANGE AMMO)…$25.00 per 50 rounds,,,, close all other stores besides that the people there and rude as hell
Went by one of the liquidating Gander Mountain stores today. Sale was advertised as 20% off guns, 20% to 50% off storewide. I’ve been to sales like that before for other stores and found the place completely wiped out.
Not Gander Mountain. They were almost fully stocked, lots of guns and ammo and knives and safes and everything you can imagine. Why? Because at 20% off their prices are still higher than what you can find at your local gun show. For example, .50 cal. steel ammo boxes, commonly available for $8 to $10 were being listed at $20, “marked down” to $15. Ammo was only 15% off and it was still overpriced. There were a lot of cars in the parking lot and a lot of people like me wandering around aimlessly searching for a bargain, but none were to be found.
LOL. That was me yesterday too. Everything you said was the same at the store I was at.
Typical liquidationer approach to mild the gullible. See the same a virtually every “going out of business.” Exactly why I don’t bother looking anymore. Went by the local GM out of curiosity, and yup, same old tactics.

True, close them all. That’s why they went bankrupt. Beautiful store, prices way to high but with the promise of price match with pages of fine print. It’s was a rip off. The image of a pricey store won’t go away. Close them
