Best Value Import Handgun? Tisas PX-9 Gen III Delivers Great Features at Low Price – SHOT Show 2022

Turkish gun company Tisas (pronounced “Tis-ash”) has been manufacturing firearms since 1993, but we’ll forgive you if you’ve never heard of them. The handgun market in the U.S. is saturated, and it’s tough to stand out when your competitors are Glock, SIG Sauer, Smith & Wesson, and Springfield.

But we’re always on the lookout for the next best value, and we were impressed when we got a chance to take the new Tisas PX-9 Gen III for a spin at SHOT Show 2022.

The PX-9 only started shipping to distributors two weeks ago, so you probably won’t find it at your local sporting goods store. But with features rivaling guns significantly more expensive, this new offering from Tisas should be showing up at stores across the country very soon.

MSRP starting around $500.

The PX9 Gen III comes in three different configurations: the Duty, the Duty Threaded, and the Tactical Threaded. The MSRP varies by configuration ($500-$600), but all three are chambered in 9mm and come with a slide cut for RMR footprint optics.

All three handguns also use Glock 9/40 sight cuts, so you’ll have lots of options for aftermarket night sights. All three ship with 18 and 20-round magazines (where legal), and those magazines are patterned after the SIG Sauer P226.

The PX-9 comes with a removable flared mag well, and interchangeable side and back grip panels. With three options for each panel, the PX-9 offers 27 different grip combinations to fit any size hands.

This is the basic “Duty” model.
The duty model comes with fiber optic front and rear sights.
All three models feature a slide cut for RMR footprint optics.
The flared mag well is removable.
Threaded barrels come standards on two of the three models currently available.

Most importantly, the gun shoots. As you can see in the video above, GunsAmerica editor True Peace was impressed with the gun’s ergonomics and the quality trigger. It’s a real pleasure to shoot, and it reminded us of the H&K VP9 and the SIG P320.

A threaded barrel differentiates the three handguns. All barrels are cold hammer-forged, and the threaded barrel uses a 1/2″x28 thread pitch.

The PX-9 is available in Black (Tennifer® Finished Slide), Flat Dark Earth, or Olive Drab (Cerakote® Finished Slide) and ships with an IWB holster.

Cool looking pistol. I thought I remembered GA covering another Turkish gun recently and I will start paying more attention to this manufacturer but I already have a Glock 19, a S&W MP C9, Sig p320 and a Ruger LCR .357 and a few other CC pistols. I guess I will just buy more ammo for the firearms I already have.

Glock sights, Sig mags, HK grip. Imitation is definitely the sincerest form of flattery in the firearms industry.

I like the product shown but won’t support the Turkish firearms industry with Turkey’s horrendous record as a supposed ally through NATO and other international bodies/issues.
