Do You Trust Trump with Your 2A Rights?

This article boils down to one simple question, do you trust Donald Tump with your Second Amendment rights?

Before I answer that question, let me just say that I like Trump. The real estate billionaire is a wild card, and his “insurgency” (as the talking heads are calling it) within the GOP has really made this political season fun to watch. Trump has everyone on their toes, and for good reason. Not only is he leading in the polls but his refusal to toe the politically-correct line in the debates and in conversations with the media may be a testament to his commitment to buck establishment trends and shake up Washington. Many of us believe that the country is headed down a wayward path, that the federal government is broken. Trump just may be the transformative figure we need to, well, as he likes to say, “Make America Great Again!”

But I’d be doing you a disservice if I didn’t acknowledge that Trump has some serious warts on his record. To start with the obvious, he’s donated to every politician under the sun, including cutting a $250,000 check to the despicable Bill-ary (Clinton) Foundation. Now, Trump side-steps this criticism by saying that his past donations were a function of his business agenda — not a function of his personal politics. He donated to numerous (pro-gun control) politicians so that they would owe him favors in the future.

“I gave to many people before this,” Trump said at the GOP presidential debate in Cleveland. “When they call, I give. And you know what, when I need something from them two years later, three years later, I call them. They are there for me.”

For a mover and shaker and a deal-maker like Trump, it makes sense that he would try to get as many politicians in his back pocket as he possibly could. When everyone owes Trump a favor, he can pretty much do what he wants to do and, subsequently, the expansion of his business empire will go virtually unchecked. But there is a real cost to doing business this way. That is, by empowering people like the Clintons via donations, Trump has contributed to the demise of this country. That is correct. When one gives money to candidates committed to squashing our Constitutional rights and individual liberties then that person bears responsibility for the policies those candidates enact. If you donated to Bill Clinton, if you voted for Bill Clinton, then you are — in part — responsible for the anti-gun measures Bill enacted, which brings me to wart number two.

Trump used to support banning black rifles. Back in 2000, in his book “The America We Deserve,” the Don wrote, “I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today’s Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record.”

To be fair, it helps placing this quote in a historical context. At that time, the Clinton-era Assault Weapons Ban was the law of the land. It wouldn’t expire until 2004. Crime rates were dropping and gun-control proponents were quick to point to the ban as a causal factor. However, research would later show that the Clinton-era AWB had no statistically significant effect on crime reduction. Even after the ban expired, crime continued to drop leaving any sensible person to conclude that banning modern sporting rifles was a feel-good proposal that did nothing to reduce crime, but instead, only limited the rights of the law-abiding by restricting their access to an optimal tool for home defense: AR/AK-platform rifles.

As far as the longer waiting periods, the FBI’s NICS system was launched in Nov. of 1998. It was about a year and half old when Trump made that statement. It’s come a long way since its inception and has really done a pretty good job of instantly determining whether a prospective buyer is a prohibited person.

All this to say that Trump’s position on firearms back in 2000 was probably more mainstream than anything else. I’m sure he wasn’t the only gun owner (Because of his power and influence he was able to obtain a concealed carry permit in NYC), circa 2000, that wanted longer waiting periods and thought the AWB was a good idea. However, he still has a record of supporting black rifle bans. The gun-rights purist in me cannot overlook that. I know that as Churchill said, “change is the price of survival,” and like I alluded to, Trump’s evolution on this issue mirrors a larger shift in public sentiment toward black rifles, but still, he supported banning firearms which is — regardless of the historical context — contrary to the intent of the Second Amendment.

Is it an unforgivable sin to evolve on this issue? No. And for the record, Trump couldn’t be any clearer in his support for the 2A now that he is a presidential contender.

“The Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear,” says Trump’s official statement on the Second Amendment. “The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period.”

As it relates specifically to prohibitions, Trump states, “Gun and magazine bans are a total failure. That’s been proven every time it’s been tried. Opponents of gun rights try to come up with scary sounding phrases like ‘assault weapons’, ‘military-style weapons’ and ‘high capacity magazines’ to confuse people. What they’re really talking about are popular semi-automatic rifles and standard magazines that are owned by tens of millions of Americans. Law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice. The government has no business dictating what types of firearms good, honest people are allowed to own.”

But yet, and to circle back to the initial question, I’m not sure I trust Trump to do right by gun owners. He’s just not a gun guy.  While I don’t think he’ll sell us down the river, like Obama clearly did in his second term, I’m also not sure he wouldn’t, in an attempt to make a deal, concede something to the anti-gun lobby. So, yes, call me gun-shy on Trump. In my book, he’s fidelity to his business empire has given him a schizophrenic track record on the issues, so I guess as a presidential candidate I see him more as a self-interested pragmatist than a principled reformer. Is Trump going to really look out for the American people? Or is he going to continue to do what he’s always done, build up the Trump empire.

I don’t have an answer to those questions. And I’m not saying I won’t vote for the guy. I just really need to think things through. And here is where I need your input.  What are your thoughts? Do you support Trump? Do you trust him with your 2A rights?

It’s remarkable to pay a visit this web page and reading the views of all friends concerning this paragraph, while I am
    also keen of getting experience.

  • Wayne Warf August 12, 2016, 8:54 am

Do I trust Trump with my 2nd Amendment rights? No, I trust noone with any of my rights. I assume that that every politician must be regarded as a ravenous wolf ready to devour my rights if not watched closely and brought to heel. The real question is, “do I trust Trump more than the Clinton Crime Family’s butcher of Benghazi?” The answer is an emphatic “yes.” Hillary has said that she’ll hit the ground running with assaults on the 2nd Amendment to the point of packing the Supreme Court to read it out of the Constitution. She has made anyone, however imperfect, preferable to herself.

  • John May 30, 2016, 4:39 pm

If Donald Trump is elected president I will be embarrassed for our country.
If Hilary Clinton is elected I will be ashamed and afraid for our country.
I am voting for conservative Supreme Court appointments; not a preferred president. An activist court will destroy that which makes our beloved United States of America exceptional.
Trump is my only choice under the circumstances presented us in the election of 2016.

  • bruce4guns May 27, 2016, 10:39 am

Guys: Get over it. Donald Trump is the Republican candidate for President of the United States. He will be running against a rabid anti gun Democrat Hillary Clinton. There will be no third party runner.
    We have but three choices.
    1. Vote for Hillary
    2. Vote for Trump
    3. Stay home, don’t vote (which in this case means you have voted for Hillary)
I know for a fact that Mr. Trump’s male children are ardent supporters of the 2nd amendment and avid hunters and shooters. They know more about firearms than many of the experts who write for this blog. I also know they are good sportsman, straight talkers, and just downright great people and not elitist’s. This could not have happened if their father was an anti gun type (he is not).
Let’s stop the fratricide. If like me what happens to the Supreme Court over the next four years is the most important and critical thing to be determined by this election we have NO CHOICE BUT TO BACK MR. TRUMP. The effects of losing this one after 8 yrs of going down the socialist path under President Obama will not only end our rights under 2A but end this country as we have known it.

  • Dan May 4, 2016, 11:51 am

Trump’s record is spotty on 2A. But what choice do we have? Cruz is out and Hillary is no friend of guns. Bernie will be eliminated soon enough. So looks like trump is the best choice we have. Is he perfect not by a long shot.

  • Ralph May 4, 2016, 10:41 am

I believe in these times we need to back Trump. The times have indeed changed and now that he has secured the Rep. voters choice we need to amass behind him. Since his left leaning days, he has come to see the light that most of then poison the left was spewing was falsehoods trying to further their own agenda. I trust him and I will be voting for him. A vote against him is a vote for the left.

  • dave March 10, 2016, 12:37 am

Ted wrote a brief in Heller but it’s states AWB is ok as applied in NYC, Conn and DC. I am in Texas and I vote Trump. “Cruz in a amicus brief sided with Diane Feinstein on The AWB, assault weapon ban. That little nugget is in there. “In the brief Cruz submitted to the Supreme Court, he argues that the Court could strike down the Washington DC gun ban without impacting on (declaring unconstitutional) the many state regulations prohibiting or limiting ownership of certain weapons. Cruz offered this position in opposition to an argument the government had put forth as a reason to uphold the ban. However, included among the state regulations Cruz lists in his brief as worthy of meeting constitutional scrutiny, were the gun regulations then in effect—and currently in effect—in the States of Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York which prohibit ownership of the very assault weapons that would be banned by the Feinstein legislation.”

  • Jim March 8, 2016, 7:27 am

I think Trump will bring the economy back giving me money to buy guns with. I see your reservation as he has not been an outstanding vocal supporter of the 2ndAmendment. For many reasons business folk don’t get involved in politics until they do. I do not think he is Bloomberg, but he’s not Wayne LaPierre either. Use your best judgement, if it’s him or Hillary, then it’s him!

  • Erick March 5, 2016, 3:38 pm

Not counting this post to be made public, but if it does:

Trump is a liberal through and through. He is FOR progressive taxation (taxing business owners), government healthcare, eminent domain, central-controlled economics, increased federal regulations, etc. Trump even gave millions of dollars towards Hillary Clinton’s campaign years ago….and somehow he’s conservative??? REALLY???? Wake up.

All of this is public knowledge. Don’t trust the media to spoon-feed you. Do your own research. Trump is NOT a conservative…..why liberals and Democrats hate him is bewildering….he’s one of them.

  • SICSEMPERTYRANNIS March 2, 2016, 4:58 pm

Those of you that I have written a response here and have said either you can only trust Trump (Mr. I’m in favor of the “assault weapons ban”…simple google search…try it) with protecting your 2A rights. Or, tose saying you don’t trust any of these politicians, well…, you have some research to do and if you still don’t realize who the strongest candidate is to protect our 2nd Amendment Liberties than you have some serious introspection to do!
The FACT is this, Only ONE CANDIDTE has actually fought the governments constant infringements on our god given 2nd amendment right. Ted Cruz took the fight to the US Supreme Court and WON! If you are a true second amendment advocate, then you MUST be familiar with the “Heller Case”. If not, then congratulations, you are nothing more than the owner of an object. You have a lot of reading and research to do before you can say you are a second amendment advocate. While Trump was donating money to Charles Schumer and Nancy Pelosi’s campaigns, Ted Cruz was busy giving the oral arguments in the Heller caser at the Supreme Court. He also was who wrote the amicus brief for the case. Ted Cruz is a gigantic part of the reason the court found in Heller’s favor that the RTKBA is a fundamental individual right. If you are a conservative, can do a little research and really want to start turning this country around YOU MUST, do yourself the favor of researching these men and I really mean research them. The integrity and honesty of only one of these two men is something to be admired and emulated. And, that man is not Trump! If you believe in the constitution and want to protect America and return her to the image the founders envisioned than you owe it to yourself to look behind the curtain. There is a reason why Rush said today 3/2/16 that Ted Cruz is “the modern incarnation of Ronaldus Magnus” a.k.a. Ronald Reagan!

    • Offgridpatriotinwyoming March 28, 2016, 10:36 pm

SICSEMPERTYRANNIS, Well said. I completely agree with you on Ted Cruz. In fact it really surprises me that more true Americans that want to protect our 2nd Amendment rights, our freedoms, privacy, constitution and our American way of life as originally established are not already getting behind Cruz. It has been for some time now pretty damn obvious that Trump is not much more than a loud mouthed blowhard and an opportunist. Trump may be a shrewd business man with a lot of money, and that along with his loud mouthed bravado and his celebrity status might even get him nominated, it may even get him elected as president. However, that certainly does not mean he has what it takes to be a “Good” or even a “Decent” president.
I absolutely do not trust him with my 2nd amendment rights, much less my privacy, freedoms or mine or my families futures. I am securely in the Ted Cruz camp. As you said Cruz is the most consistent conservative running and has been from the beginning, particularly in this election cycle.

  • thefallenrepublic March 2, 2016, 3:28 pm

NO, I DO NOT TRUST TRUMP!

If your for Trump and claim to be a constitutional conservative, then you are a CHUMP! Don’t become one of the sheeple we have been working so hard to wake up for the last decade or longer.

    Trump in his own words:

    https://youtu.be/rcUCLwWCihE

    http://www.fieldandstream.com/videos/video-channel/interview-with-donald-trump

    More here:

    https://trumpquestions.com/about.aspx

Here is Trump the Clinton plant just this past Friday 1/23/16 saying that he wouldn’t cede Federal lands back to the rightful owner, the states. If you don’t already know, do yourself a favor and read Article 1. Section 8 clause 17 of the US Constitution and learn just how much land the Federal Government is entitled to.

How about Trump as recently as Sept of 2015 touting his support for 100% gov’t paid “universal healthcare”? What about his position stated repeatedly that he is “very pro-choice?” What about him being in favor of another “assault weapons ban”? What about when he said “eminent domain is a wonderful thing?” Why are you allowing yourself to be fooled? If you are on infowars you likely believe yourself to be someone who thinks for themself and can see when something isn’t quite right. That’s what makes this blind faith following of Trump so baffling to me. Are you a sheep or are you the shepherd? I can understand the sheeple following him blindly since he is a celebrity, but he clearly has no knowledge of the constitution or care for it for that matter.

What was the epiphany for him? What happened that changed his political belief system 180 deg. on literally everything since Sept of last year or for that matter just on 1/23/16?

Don’t allow yourself to become what you have despised for so long. Do your research! The links above are a good place to start.

  • Gail February 29, 2016, 7:16 pm

I do not believe Trump with ANY of my rights. As far as I can tell, he will say anything to get elected and then do what he has always done. Lie, cheat and steal to his benefit and his benefit ONLY.

    • Marc May 3, 2016, 1:46 pm

Right. That’s why he’s spending MILLIONS of his own money on his campaign.

      • John Songer Jr May 27, 2016, 2:18 pm

To be exact, every penny of that is a tax write off. It is a business expense. Seeing how he is being Audited and still refusing to release his tax statements (yes you can release them while under audit, he lied about not being able to), ripped off and defrauded tons of Americans with his “Trump University” which he has rumored to say he would dismiss lawsuits against him when becoming president. Trump cannot be trusted, he just cannot be. He even said he would appoint Cruz as vice president before Cruz began his run, then attacked Cruz. Discovery channel aired a special about trump and he even said, in a interview they did, he could care less about Americans he just wanted to prove he could win and wanted the power. This is a smart decision for him as he could influence any business decisions that compete directly with his corporation. I have always seen trump as the rich, spoiled brat bully that he is. He did not turn Trump name into a huge corporation, his father did. Truthfully, all his lone business ventures went bankrupt. Check the fact, it’s truth. Problem is, Hilary has voiced her hate for the constitution publicly. This is another election where we must pray, think, compare, and pray more before we cast our votes between the two evils. I am personally praying Texas as a whole will stand up and try to secede. The union doesn’t need Texas and Texas doesn’t need the union. We are stuck with a choice between two devils and must choose which one is less evil. I pray on election day, we all make the right choice.

  • SteveR February 29, 2016, 2:49 pm

Let me say up front, I did NOT vote for Obama either time (unlike what R Lautherboren apparently believes below) and wouldn’t if he were able to run again. But if you think Trump wants to be the President for any other reason than the power he seeks, than it might be time to take a long look at your own thought processes. And, like any other person who seeks ultimate power for power’s sake, he will do whatever it takes to get it and keep it. If the words that come out of his mouth, and the deals he makes, like what he did in Scotland when he built his golf course aren’t enough to convince you of what type of human being he is, then, by all means, vote for him. You deserve him. All the polls prove is this country is spiraling further into a lack of moral and ethical values that is going to catch up to us quickly if we can’t fix politics and come up with people who are willing to compromise for the good of everyone instead of their corporate money streams.

    • R Lautherboren March 1, 2016, 9:42 am

It’s going to come down to Hillary and Trump. Not voting or not voting for Trump is a vote for Hillary. It’s not Rocket Science, do you want a career politician who lied about Bengahzi, compromised national security by illegally keeping confidential emails on her private server at home and is 100% against the populace owning guns or do you want a self made non-politican, doesn’t worry about being politically correct, successful and does what he says? It’s a no brainer! Kick the illegals (Mexicans and Muslims) out, build a fence to keep the Mexicans out and quit fighting other countries wars!

      • thefallenrepublic March 2, 2016, 3:40 pm

I’, sorry, Frankly, I see no difference between Hillary or Trump. So, NO I will NOT be voting for him. I believe I actually stand for something and that my values are not something I am willing to compromise. Up until Oct. of 2015 everything out of Trumps mouth has been very hard left. For example his support of the “assault weapons” ban and “Universal Healthcare”. How about not taking the fight to Planned Parenthood, or even how he says he will “make deals”. Making deals is exactly what the problem is and why we are so far down the path we are on. How about how he says he donates when politicians ask for money so that the politicians are there “for him when he need them”? Sorry but that is illegal and I absolutely expect the left to exploit that statement and possibly pursue it legally as they always do. What about just two days ago when Trump said on Hannity that “Everything is Negotiable” when referring to his off the record comments with the NYT. This man is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Do not complain if he is elected president when he does nothing except continue the status quo. The only man with any integrity and has stood up to his own party and done exactly what he has said he would do is Ted Cruz. Rush even said it today that Cruz is the “Modern incarnation of Ronaldus Magnus” a.k.a. Ronald Reagan! The Constitution is first and foremost. If you compromise on Trump, you are compromising on the Constitution. The simple fact is that Trump is a wild card without a track record in politics. I’m sorry. but I am not willing to take that chance. You can leave your integrity at the door if you wish, I WILL NOT!

  • Kent February 29, 2016, 8:25 am

My first choice is Ted Cruz because he has a proven track record as a uncompromising, stalwart defender of our Constitution, no exceptions, and that includes the Second Amendment. He believes it means exactly what it says, and would energetically defend its original intent as written by our Founders.

If I can’t have Ted Cruz in the White House, then my back-up choice is Donald Trump. However, Trump has bragged often and loudly about being a “deal maker”, and that tells me that if he wants something bad enough that anything and everything is on the table, including our gun rights.

  • TERRY February 28, 2016, 8:24 pm

    ABSOLUTLY

  • Tom Horn February 28, 2016, 5:07 pm

Can’t we dig up the bones of our Forefathers and combo-clone a perfect candidate? We could take the intelligence of Jefferson, the passion of Patrick Henry, the tenacity of Theodore Roosevelt, the morale fortitude of Ronald Reagan, and create an über President.

I’m kidding, of course. But, out of the over 300 million people in the U.S., these are the best candidates we can come up with? I think the person I described is out there. We just haven’t recognized him/her yet. They probably are not a politician (admittedly, like Trump). If Christ walk up to us on the street today, would we recognize him? Or, would we tell him to, “Get a job, you bum?”

  • Dan February 28, 2016, 3:11 pm

If public sentiment turns against guns, Trump, nor any other candidate will support your rights! Every time some nut decides to commit a mass murder, he/she is putting all of our rights at risk.

  • R Lautherboren February 28, 2016, 12:09 pm

All you Trump haters probably voted for Obamabinladin TWICE. If you don’t get behind Trump, then Hillary will certainly win by way of her Vagina and take away everyone’s 2A rights! Get behind Trump or sell your weapons now to at least get some of your money back for them before Hillary TAKES them away! Afterall, she’s a prodigy of two of the three worst presidents in history. Clinton, Obamabinladin and Carter! This woman didn’t even have respect for herself by leaving BillyBob after the Monica incident. When Maria Schriever found out about Arnold’s cheating, she immediately divorced him like any self-respecting woman would have done. She didn’t because her lust for POWER overided her self respect!

  • John February 28, 2016, 11:54 am

I don’t trust anyone with my Second Amendment rights and least of all Trump. He is not a politician; he’s worse! And he is certainly not republican or a conservative. Trump has only recently become a gun rights supporter because it was politically expedient. The same can be said for every other position he takes; all are calculated to appeal to voters and to mask his true identity as a RINO with an alarmingly liberal history. Just like Obama, he is an empty suit with a lot of words but no substance. Unlike Trump, at least some of the republican candidates are guided by a moral compass. The only values Trump is interested in are the monetary values he has obtained by taking advantage of the “little people” who have been shafted by his business dealings, fraud and bankruptcies.
All that aside, the main reason to vote for another candidate in the primary is the fact Trump can’t win the general election unless Sanders is the democratic nominee, and in the primary, the “Bern” is quickly flaming out. Trump has by far the highest negatives of any candidate in either party and would lose decisively to Hillary or, depending on how the email scandal plays out, to Biden or Warren. At least 30% of republican voters and 45% of independents consistently indicate they will never consider voting for Trump. Couple that with 81% of Hispanics and 70+% of African-Americans who won’t vote for him and we end up with another lost opportunity to take the White House and reverse the empirical dictates of the past seven years.
Trumps popularity is being fueled by emotions and by low information voters who have bought into the rhetoric. Sound familiar? GOD help us! …. we have been here before and sadly if Trump is the nominee our country is irreconcilably doomed. We cannot survive another 4-8 years of a liberal democrat occupying 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Please don’t let emotion overrule sound judgment. Vote for anybody but Trump in the Republican Primary.

    • Mike Silver February 28, 2016, 7:04 pm

One thing you forgot to mention. . . TRUMP WILLGET MORE LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC VOTES THAN ANY OTHER REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE. THAT OUGHT TO SCARE THE HELL OUT OF ANY CONSERVATIVE GUN OWNING AMERICAN!!!

  • BUB February 28, 2016, 8:44 am

Seems to me some of the comments may come from trolls trying to appear as gun folks. In the end, not to vote for Trump, if he wins the nomination, is a vote for the DEMO anti-gun candidate! Go ahead, shoot yourselves in the foot, just like the Romney disdainers in 2012!

    • SICSEMPERTYRANNIS March 2, 2016, 4:38 pm

Go Ahead and Compromise your values and integrity on a man who clearly has NONE. I’m sorry, but I WILL NOT!
Take 10 min and search Trump’s positions and you try to figure out what he actually stands for. The fact is only one candidate that is running has actually fought the government on it’s constant infringement of the second amendment. If you are a true second amendment advocate, then you MUST be familiar with the “Heller Case”. Well, Ted Cruz was actually one of the lawyers fighting the government on this case he was who gave the attorney who gave the oral arguments at the Supreme Court and was a huge factor in driving the Heller decision. If the 2nd Amendment is your primary policy you consider when voting, well. Ted Cruz is the ONLY Candidate to have literally fought the government to protect our liberties and WON!

Seeing Trump’s sons @ SHOT, and hearing Trump speak on the 2nd Amendment, yes, I do trust him.
I trust him more than any of the first term senators who have thrown their hat in the ring. The last one elected has been a disaster. I trust Jeff Session’s, from AL. His Immigration Advisor laid it out in an interview on Breitbart Radio.

    https://m.soundcloud.com/breitbart/breitbart-news-saturday-stephen-miller-february-26-2016

Our Sovereignty is being taken by Treaties, Executive Orders, Agreements, Pacts, and Legislation, some of which
both Cruz, and Rubio supported. I will throw my lot in with the Nationalist, the American, the Businessman who knows a bottom line, who isn’t in the pocket of big donors and PACs.

  • loupgarous February 28, 2016, 12:49 am

I don’t trust Trump not to change his mind AGAIN on gun control once he’s got what he wanted from conservative voters. He’s an unprincipled slimebag.

  • Matt February 27, 2016, 9:55 pm

I don’t trust Trump as far as I can throw him. He’s an authoritarian who will only seek to further expand the power of the office of the President beyond it’s Constitutional limitations. He cares only about power and money and has proven that he’ll do or say whatever it takes to advance his agenda. That was exposed somewhat at the last debate. He’s got a lot of catchy slogans, but there is no substance behind them. His entire campaign is based on emotional appeal.

Not being a career politician has been a convenient excuse. The Reagan comparisons are superficial at best. Reagan at least had a tenure as governor to prove himself before becoming president. As Rush Limbaugh said, if you want a return to Reagan, Ted Cruz is the closest thing we’re likely to see in our lifetimes. He’s not as flashy or charismatic, but he’s proven that he’ll stick to what’s right even when it makes him unpopular with the Republican establishment.

The sad truth is we are stuck with the Republican side of things. None of us want more liberal policies, we damn sure don’t want socialist ones. So whoever gets the nomination, Trump, Cruz, Rubio, or my least favorite Kasich. Carson is about done I think. WE ALL NEED TO VOTE, and ALL OUR CONSERVATIVE FRIENDS NEED TO GET OUT AND VOTE. I hope Clinton gets the nomination for the Dems, she has so many skeletons in her closet that a Republican should be able to tear her to shreds, After the FBI gets done that is. If you want to save our country and our Constitution VOTE. No one mentioned Trump was the only candidate to call for a complete stop of more Muslim refuges coming to the US.

  • david February 27, 2016, 8:51 pm

Trump is the reason I will be voting in November, he will eclipse these past leaders with business acumen, integrity and courage something the Republican Party lacks tremendously, I am not the only person which believes this way. Just look at the states he has already conquered, do you think your better with Marco /Cruz / cant say Jeb and forget about Romney, Marco sold everyone down the river already with Immigration, Cruz is amazing but he just can’t pull the people for a cross sectional voting platform to make a firm foundation with enough votes, Trump can and will totally to make a difference, he is a winner and will not sale out his soul, his families honor or his future for a buck he is already rich……

    • Matt March 1, 2016, 12:48 pm

Trump has proven he will take whatever position is most advantageous to him. If anything, the manner in which he’s undertaken his pursuit of wealth has proven that he’ll do just about anything for more. He even tried to have vendor licenses revoked for disabled veterans who had set up in front of one of his buildings.

Trump is incredibly dishonest and unscrupulous and he’s just playing on your anger and fears. This is how tyrants are elected. Do yourself a favor and seriously research the candidates from every side before voting in this year’s primary.

  • Don February 27, 2016, 8:41 pm

I own and run a small business. Our founding fathers were not politicians, they were common folks who had real jobs. I will vote for Mr. Trump because he is not a d@@m politician. Running a country is a job, not a career. Politicians don’t give a hoot about us common folks or this country.

  • joe February 27, 2016, 8:37 pm

No, he’s a New Yorker and has “New York” values; it’s as simple as that.

  • TropicalMike February 27, 2016, 7:38 pm

As my grandfather said many years ago, ….”once again we’re forced to make a choice between the lesser of two evils”. Mr Trump, like the rest us, is not perfect. But in my analysis he’s the best man for the job at hand today.

  • Tom Horn February 27, 2016, 4:30 pm

Thank God for Silly Goosey Vet Geezers.

They’re the reason we can speak freely on forums such as this.

  • bobby shahab February 27, 2016, 4:03 pm

i don’t trust trump at all, all he talks about is winning polls, he is going to build a wall at the mexican border. he seems to only care about his stats and he NEVER says what he plans on doing, all he has is a gigantic ego, nothing more!!

  • R Lautherboren February 27, 2016, 3:44 pm

LOL! This question is absolutely absurd! Trump has been the ONLY public figure to speak out against Political Correctness that the Clintons coined. Akin to Teddy Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan, Trump speaks the truth not caring what the vocal minority thinks or says. Even with all the bad publicity from every television network, especially FOX, he stuck to his words. Gun are BIG money, Trump believes in making money, which questions his stand on 2A absurd! He says what he thinks and does what he says! When every country in the world failed to build the Panama Canal, Teddy Roosevelt told the Panama President that America was going to complete it. The Panama President said I’ll talk to my advisors and let you know. Good ole Teddy said, I don’t think you understand, I’m not asking you, I’m telling you and despatched soldiers and warships to protect the workers and engineers. Reagan told the air traffic controllers to get back to work or get fired. They refused and he fired them! A better question to ask is why ignorant Americans elected a Muslim President TWICE! All Muslims are Muslims first and will never be a Patriot! Then the ignorant Senate and Congress letting him bypass the Constitution with his Executive Orders. Only the Senate and Congress have power to write laws, not the President! The Senate and Congress are afraid to do anything because Obamabinladin in BLACK and are afraid the race card will be used against them. What GunsAmerica should be doing is telling everyone to never ever re-elect an incumbent. Reagan was the last Patriot President this country had! Who broke America’s last enemy, the Russians, good ole Ronnie! We need another tough President to break our current enemy, the Muslims, back! The Muslims are no better than Hitler, murdering innocent people with all their suicide bombing! Hillary lied and 6 Americans died! She comprised national security by sending classified emails to her “personal” severe, which makes her completely untrusted! Her 2A stance should be questioned. Oh, that’s right, she’s already said millions of times she wants to disarm Americans, along with all those on Ted’s list!

  • Richard Vezzani February 27, 2016, 2:50 pm

Not at all do I trust him. I do not trust what any candidate running for office says…history shows they all say anything they think the electorate wants to hear or which will get them elected. I look at their past and current behavior and actions . Trump is a master showman and he is using that to achieve his goals ..and if elected. Will use that to further HIS goals not you or me or the average Joe. II see him as the Emperor with no clothes ! And a Pied Piper leading his adoring fans to drown in the river of false promises. Do Not Trust Him.

    • steve harmon February 27, 2016, 4:13 pm

Why shouldn’t I trust him, after all, he’s not a lying politician, is he?

      • Matt February 27, 2016, 10:07 pm

Not a politician, just a businessman who has admitted to buying favors from them. He claims he’s going to bring down the hammer and end corruption in one breath, then boasts about his endorsements and how well he gets along with the Washington bigwigs in the next.

He’s also a con artist. Google “Trump University”.

  • Novice February 27, 2016, 1:22 pm

I truly believe that this Trump guy is not any better than what we have in the white house today:
both lie, both are very divisive, both only care about their own agenda and will do or say anything that promotes their agenda, both are very NARCISSISTIC, bullies, controlling freaks, and bombastic. I truly believe that Trump will continue with the liberal progressive agenda.

I can’t believe that trump has such a large following, only thing I can think of is that these people are low information voters…. Yes, Trump has done a great service to the USA by pointing out the faults of this administrations policy, but I can’t seem to believe that he will continue to “Make America Great Again”. I also, my opinion, think that Trump is still a liberal masquerading as a conservative, and if he gets in office will continue with the liberal agenda.

    • Don February 27, 2016, 2:18 pm

He’ll turn out to be pro 2A and be better than precident NOMAMA

    • SteveC March 18, 2016, 5:23 am

So if it comes down to Trump being the GOP candidate, will you not vote? Or vote for the democrat candidate? You miss the point. Somebody’s going to be the next president…. you are only going to have 2 real choices…. which way will you vote and why?

  • Ray K February 27, 2016, 12:54 pm

The sad truth is, NO candidate is ever PERFECT. And a majority of these comments are from emotional response instead of informed, analytical research. Sorry Ladies and Gentlemen, but after careful consideration of ALL possible candidates, it really comes down to only TWO choices if the current front-runners win their respective nominations: Trump vs. Hillary. As a responsible firearms owner, is there really going to be a choice…? Would you REALLY support Hillary over Trump, by either not voting at all (HUGE Mistake!), or voting for a Republican who doesn’t stand a chance against Hillary (Also a HUGE Mistake!!). Swallow your misgivings and pride and vote for Mr. Trump if he wins the GOP nomination – or suffer the consequences…. PERIOD. Malon Sabe!

  • Mike Silver February 27, 2016, 11:31 am

In reviewing the comments of others it is encouraging to see that many, like myself, see Trump as a self-absorbed arrogant ass whose only allegiance is to himself. I believe he is totally unprincipled and will say or do anything to be elected. Why would anyone trust a “deal maker” with any of our rights, much less the right to bear arms. Rubio got it right when he said a Trump nomination will split the Republican Party. I consider myself to be principled conservative and therefore I could never vote for Trump under any circumstances. As a life-long republican, I will leave the party and re-register as an independent if Trump is the nominee.

    • Peter Anderson February 27, 2016, 1:58 pm

Yes Trump is an ass but he says it like it is and gets stuff done. Don’t hate the player, when its the game. They all deal and trade. That’s what they do. Nothing is new yets you make it sound like it is. Wake up its been like that since day one with our framers and leaders. How’s our party working out for you?, It hasn’t done anything for me except restrict and cost me money. If switching makes you feel better, go ahead its your right, but doing the same thing over and over and wishing for a different result isn’t ever going to change anything.

  • Stephen Walker February 27, 2016, 9:34 am

Do I trust Trump with may 2nd Amendment right? Not only no, but hell no! I don’t trust Trump with anything that comes out of his mouth, Trump is for Trump and he will cut a deal or sell out if needed to advance Donald Trump. His supporters will probably put him in the WH because they are mad and angry. We are doomed.

    • Brad Wyrick February 27, 2016, 11:45 am

I agree Stephen Walker and the majority of No post replies.

Personally I don’t understand why Pro-Gunners are over looking Ted Cruz’s four 2nd Amendment Cases he won in the Federal Supreme Court before he became a Senator. The main reason why Trump is doing well with the average Pro-Gun voter is the majorities don’t look deeper into all candidate backgrounds beyond minimum liberal media disclosers.

The majority of GOP RINOS, Democrats, Tea Party Politicians, Independents, and NRA Endorsed Senators and Congressmen hate Senator Ted Cruz Filibusters interrupting liberal backdoor deals from becoming Law of Our Land.

I appreciate S.H. Blannelberry’s article exposing Trump’s record of funding Anti-Gun Liberals Champaign. It’s obviously clear that Trump’s money has worked against our Constitutional Rights to promote his personal goals.

      • sudon't February 27, 2016, 3:50 pm

I don’t trust Trump with the White House, or anything else. Are we really going to have a buffoon for a president?
Bernie Sanders’ record speaks for itself – he’s always supported gun rights. Don’t let the campaign promises fool ya, he’s got to mollify the anti-gun crowd by toning the rhetoric down a bit, just like Trump has to mollify the pro-gun crowd. Go by what they’ve actually done in the past. Deeds, not words.
What? Bernie?!! The Party of the Rich has tried to make socialism a bad word, because it’s not in their interests. It’s in the interests of working people. They’ve pandered to the religious right, and the gun crowd, but haven’t done much for them with their long-running majority. They promise fiscal conservatism, yet outspend the Dems everytime. If you work for a living, and care about gun rights, you should be voting for Bernie. The policies of Bernie are more in line with the message of Christ than any of the Republican’s are. Much more. If you’re rich, yeah, you should probably vote Republican. But the rest of us need to stop voting against our own interests. Trump shouldn’t even be a consideration.

        • Don February 27, 2016, 8:50 pm

          • sudon't May 6, 2016, 4:50 pm

I guess you haven’t heard – China adopted capitalism, and hasn’t been communist for a while now. They just haven’t gotten around to changing the name of the Party. If you want unregulated capitalism, go to China. If you want socialism, go to western Europe or the Nordic countries.

  • Javier Guzman February 27, 2016, 8:20 am

Mr. trump is an egotistic, arrogant, unstable and I’d suspect he has some kind of psychopathy. He does not tolerate criticism and thinks that can do better than anyone else. He is a populist that says the things people…well some people want to hear but offers little in the way of specifics. He’s going to build a wall between Mexico and US and have the Mexicans pay for it, is going to curb the trade deficit with China, deport millions of illegal immigrants. He has not offered a single detail on how he will do it. This is an alarm among others……I would not trust Trump to keep any promise even less with the rights of the second amendment. I would not gamble with my rights and the country with Mr. Trump

  • Rene Monzon February 27, 2016, 2:36 am

I don’t trust Trunp on anything he says. He is a Demagogue and will say and do anything to further his agenda. He has a rather large portion of the American people “Obamacized”/ If i were to close my eyes and was able to travel back in time , I would be taken back to 1007-08.At that time there was another candidate that had not much experience, but was yelling from the loudest and tallest platform he could find and running on “CHANGE” America can change and he took advantage of our frustrations . He spoke alot about change and bringing America together again. You really couldn’t pin him down on specifics ,but who cared? We Wanted Change!!! Right? When confronted about some of his stances or his “militant” pastor,he states that he had “evolved” and those quotes about killing they were takrn out of contexast foreward 8 years,And similar to 08, when cornered or confronted ,TRUNJP,throes a fit. …I dont trust Trump at all,amd unfortunatly he has millions of people drinking the Koolaid the same exact koolaid thatr was on the tables 8 yearss ago

  • Jarrett February 27, 2016, 2:29 am

Trump is a psychopathic liar, a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s the typical persona for a politician, just more flamboyant about it than all the others.

It makes me sick to look at the field of candidates we have had for the past several election cycles.

This country has lost its way. Our populace is generally dumbed down and apathetic to the point that these narcissistic, psychopathic, self serving candidates are all that we have for options during any particular election.

So for me at least, it doesn’t matter who “wins” the elections on the national level. It’s a cluster f*&#
I’m focusing on my local and state elections only. Otherwise my blood begins to boil!

  • Jerry Cumbie February 27, 2016, 1:58 am

I think Trump will leave our guns to us and I think he will be able to make the USA
great again. It will be a fairly slow process because Obama and the Democrats have
had years to screw up our country. I lump Harry Reid right up there with Obama also.
Note that I did not associate Obama with the term President as He has been doing
a good job of acting like a Dictator. I also blame the Justice Dept. for letting him get
away with his almighty pen writing so many unjust and unconstitutional rules.

    • Javier February 27, 2016, 10:26 am

Be careful what you wish for and look at history beyond US borders. The world is full of charismatic, populist leaders that have destroyed their own countries. Let yourself to be seduced by these big mouth characters and your will be in for a rude awakening.

    • RICK W February 27, 2016, 11:46 am

I WILL VOTE FOR TRUMP BECAUSE I THINK HE IS THE ONLY PERSON TO BEAT HILLARY CLINTON AND BEST CHANCE TO KEEP OUR GUNS AND ALSO BEING A BUSINESS MAN HE HAS THE BEST CHANCE TO BRING OUR COUNTRY BACK FROM THE DEVISTATION WHERE IT IS HEADING

  • straightsh@@ter February 27, 2016, 1:13 am

Although I understand how his no PC personality is a breath of fresh air, he has proven himself a skitzo. He will do ANYTHING to “win” What will stop him from turning the 2nd Amendment into what ever will work for his newest deal. You and I are just a pawn to use toward an end result. He has no use for anyone past their use. Our present emperor will be nothing compared to this guy. We truly need to vote in a true constitutionalist. As much as I love his focus on many of the real issues, he will be an ineffective bully ONLY isolating ANY effective legislation and pissing off those we as a nation are in debt to (thanks to Hussein obama)

  • ejharb February 27, 2016, 12:46 am

Do I trust a guy who said assault weapons needed banned? Who donated significant cash to schumer, pelosi, hillary?
    Nah

  • Outlaw February 26, 2016, 11:45 pm

Does not matter to me who the Republicans nominate they are all only in it for themselves anyway. I will vote for whichever is nominated. As for the Democratic party, until they transform from a party that wants to take my rights away from me I will never vote for another Democratic candidate excepting possibly a county or local election that can have no bearing on my rights. As for Trump as I mentioned above he will bend the truth to make himself look better, so will every other candidate that is running. I think he is the only Republican candidate that has a chance to defeat either of the Communist candidates running for the Democratic nomination. Not sure if even he can with the way he acts sometimes but I pray that he can because if not we are headed for something much worse that another four years of Obama. If Hillary or Bernie gets in we either give up our rights or decide to fight (and I mean this literally) for them. Neither is an appealing choice because in either case the America we know will no longer exist.

  • Rafael Gil February 26, 2016, 11:34 pm

If you analyze every candidate we have in the Republican Party, you will find a thing or two where they all have faulted concerning the 2A. What I did is, I placed the pros and cons in 2 different columns for each candidate. Then after being very sincere with myself, I came up with Trump having the best attributes and also the probabilities of being the one who can change the course of this country since Obama took office. He might not be perfect, but he is the most qualified individual to do what needs to be done, immigration, economy, national security and foreign policy wise not to mention stopping Hillary and Obama. Who has the best package to perform? After all the dust settled in my analysis, the only one is TRUMP. God help us all if one of those two freshman Senators wins the nomination. You might want to consider changing the name of this site to Slingsamerica.

  • terry seale February 26, 2016, 10:43 pm

I don’t trust Donald. Certainly, if he is the nominee, he will get my vote, but I want Cruz.

Cruz is an appellate attorney which is the closest thing we have to a Gladiator. Appellate lawyers do not negotiate. They do not settle. They don’t split the difference. They win or they lose on the merits. Cruz wins way more times than he loses because he is an amazingly talented debater and legal scholar. That’s why the Political Class (both sides) hates him. He doesn’t cut deals, negotiate, horse-trade votes, go-along to get-along, scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours. He is overloaded with integrity and principled convictions.

Trump, on the other hand, is a product–like the Goodfellas–of Queens NY in the 60s and 70s. He is today basically a Vice Lord of gambling casinos, strip clubs, sports betting, prize-fighting promoting, and saloons inside party hotels. Is that a moral, commendable, or laudable livelihood to hold up for our children? That is today. He made his money mostly by developing real estate and putting up buildings in NYC. That line of work required playing footsie with mob-controlled trade union racketeers. You can’t buy cement in NYC except from the Mafia. You need to get mob-run trash haulers to haul your construction trash. There are five Cosa Nostra Families in NYC and you need to get into bed with each one if you build in five boroughs. There are well over a dozen city building inspection agencies in NYC that have to be bribed to get approvals. Plus state agencies. Every police precinct in which you have a building, office, or construction site has a Pad that must be paid into. Plate glass insurance has to be paid to hoods and button men. Does anyone anywhere think that Donald Trump could have become a multi-billionaire in NYC construction on his parents meager millions without getting into bed with the protection, building trades, public corruption operators, and crooked judges in NYC? In New Jersey? In Las Vegas?

All of his widely scattered political contributions to the Clintons and others are just another form of bribery, payoff, and public corruption. Donald Trump may have never “whacked” anybody, but he is way more connected than Frank Sinatra. Bet on it!

  • George Procyshyn February 26, 2016, 10:18 pm

The bottom line on the whole debate is ….
SOMEONE’s going to be elected our next president. YOU need to vote for the candidate you feel will do you the least harm. That’s arguably going to be Trump.
Alternatively properties in the Dominican Republic are selling at VERY attractive prices.

  • ed February 26, 2016, 9:54 pm

I will not vote for Trump. I think he’s a Fascist and has never been a Republican. He should be running as an independent canidate

    • Charles February 27, 2016, 9:45 am

If you don’t vote for one of the “Republicans” or don’t vote at all, you will be voting for the Socialist or for the Communist.

  • GS February 26, 2016, 9:25 pm

The whole problem is that the President of the United States according to the Constitution should not have the sole power to subvert our 2A rights. The fact remains regardless of who we elect. We are taking the risk that they will “do the right thing”
if we elect them. I only think that .10% (that’s point one zero percent) of the conservative politicians are just that….conservative
followers of the Constitution. The American people no longer know their own Constitution, how and why it was developed the way it was. Worst of all the they have no idea that this subversion has been going on since Teddy Roosevelt (Republican) and Woodrow Wilson (Democrat) embraced “Progressivism” which has been going on ever since. Folks, the jig is up. You may not trust Trump. Hell, I don’t trust anybody else either. If we don’t return to the Constitution as it was originally designed in it’s checks and balances we are doomed. As Churchill stated ” nations that die on their feet reemerge in the future. Those that die on their knees do not”.

  • lyn February 26, 2016, 9:24 pm

I saw part of an interview on CBC the other night and the man being interviewed was talking about Trump. He made a very good observation that I haven’t heard any US reporter make. He called Trump a ‘mirror’, meaning that he (Trump) would simply reflect the questioner’s position. I hadn’t thought about that before, but that is exactly what he does. So do I trust him when it comes to gun rights? Absolutely not. He has a record of backing anti-gun legislation and politicians, and just because he’s now claiming to be a Republican and that he’s pro-gun, I wouldn’t believe him.

  • Rick W February 26, 2016, 9:23 pm

I like that Trump has been the driving force behind this election, saying things that needed to be said and energizing the electorate. I however do not feel it is in the best interest of the country to have him as our president. We’ve already had 8 years dealing with an amateur in the White House, another 4 – 8 may just kill us all. I trust Trump to do what is best for Trump in the end, I just don’t know if what’s best for Trump is what’s ultimately best for the American people. Do I think he could grow the economy….yes, better than anyone else. Do I think he has the tact to deal with other world leaders…Hell No! They used to make jokes about Ronald Regan having finger on the button, I wouldn’t want Trump anywhere near it. Do I believe he’s pro 2nd Amendment, maybe….right now anyway. In a lot of ways I see him as your standard politician, saying anything you want to hear so he can get elected and stay in office, but once there it’s anybodies game. Here’s something else to keep in mind, if the GOP doesn’t like Trump and sees him as a wild card and someone they can’t control, how likely is it that the idiots in Congress on either side of the isle will work with him? It’s my opinion that Congress is the far greater risk to our liberty than whoever sits in the oval office.

I’m voting for Ted Cruz when the time comes, not that it’ll make any difference since all this will be decided before we get to vote in KY. If we’re talking purely the best person to defend our 2nd Amendment rights, Ted’s our man hands down. Unfortunately the GOP hates Ted just as bad as Trump so working with Congress is probably the same between the two. If Trump were to win the White House, all I ask is he floats Ted Cruz’s name for the Supreme Court.

  • J. Anderson February 26, 2016, 8:49 pm

The Donald will try to rev up our economy bigtime. The better all citizens do, all social classes, etc… The better Donald’s businesses do. The stronger our country is overseas, militarily, economically, the better his ability to negotiate, through a strong position, and the better his companies and kids do. Anybody is better than what the Dems are offering. I think we need a non-politicion to help restore the peoples faith in government, do you another politicion in office. I’m tired of our do nothing government. They couldn’t even pass Kate’s Law!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My choice would be Benjamin Netanyaho, (listen to his UN speech), here is a powerful guy who loves his country. The Donald is a risk, I hope he’s with us on the 2A, but he’s sure not Obama. I don’t see him as someone that will bend to anti-gun public opinion. And I think (hope) he can get our do nothing congressmen to do their job. Sorry about ranting, just don’t get me started, Donald is the guy for the time we are in, we already know idiot congressmen can’t fix our country, they are good about spending and printing money they don’t have. It’s time for the art of the deal.

  • tony February 26, 2016, 8:45 pm

Aren’t we all getting sick of all of these “I like Trump, but….” articles appearing in all the so called gun forums and blogs? The establishment Republicans , the guys who brought us the losers like McCain, Romney, etc and who now want to foist off their puppets Cruz or Rubio, are ticked the majority wants a nonprofessional politician who calls spades spades and doesn’t bow to Karl Rowe and the pack of democrat collaborationists supporting amnesty (calling it by other names). So go ahead, spread your bs about Trump, but watch the results of the elections and know it isn’t working, tools.

  • OHBrian February 26, 2016, 8:09 pm

Yes, if he is the nominee I will vote for him. I am an independent and want to send a message to the Republican and Democrat establishment. I do believe, that as he himself holds a CC permit, he will defend the 2nd Amendment. We already know Hillary wont.

  • OHBrian February 26, 2016, 8:08 pm

Trump 2016. He tells it like it is. Sick of politics as usual!!

    • James February 26, 2016, 9:01 pm

Sick of politics as usual, yet you back Obama in vanilla form, who all of his life has never been in favor of guns, supported the assault ban and longer waiting periods for guns. Yeah, you’re making sense…

    • jerry smith February 27, 2016, 12:05 am

I like when someone makes Trump mad. He gets right in their face. Notice I said in their face. He doesn’t wait till his “spin doctors and handlers” tell him if he should be mad or not and then tell him what to say the next day. Behind the other guys back where they can’t answer him. He has a huge pair and will set you straight right on the spot.

  • Jack February 26, 2016, 7:14 pm

I see a lot of the comments are from low information voters. This is typical but unfortunate. If you do your research, Trump has done what any other business man would do to support his business. Now that he’s running for President, he has to show his real stripes. Based on earlier voting and current polls, he’s likely going to be the republican nominee running against Hillary Clinton. She plans to continue Obama’s anti-gun agenda and we certainly don’t want that. I think Trump is our best bet and I expect he will run the country like he has run his business- successfully. Another example of who he is can be learned by watching and listening to his kids. While you might expect silver spoon fed spoiled brats, you find that they are hard working and down to earth. That is a good reflection on their dad. I’m for Trump!

    • Don February 27, 2016, 8:15 pm

Me too! His kids work and are not spoiled brats.

  • Rancherchuck February 26, 2016, 5:58 pm

I suggest use of the word “quash” instead of “squash” in such instances as “quashng” our constitutional rights.

  • joseph0274 February 26, 2016, 5:55 pm

Why are American voters drawn to big blowhards? First they elect Obama and now they want to elect Trump. Both are megalomaniacs who are only interested in themselves. That is not who we need as president. We need someone who has proven integrity and an understanding of what our country is supposed to be. The only man who fits that description is Ben Carson. Trump doesn’t, Cruz doesn’t and Rubio doesn’t.

    • Slick-Willy February 27, 2016, 1:44 am

I like Ben Carson, but the reality is he simply can’t win a presidential election. A vote for Carson might as well be for Hi-lie-ry because he won’t be the Republican nominee and he most certainly won’t be the president. Waste a vote if you must, but in the real-world I would suggest picking someone that can actually win !! I wouldn’t have chosen Trump initially, but here we are – he is the best option available.

  • Donald J Trump February 26, 2016, 5:39 pm

THANKS FOR THE PUBLICITY GUYS ITS YUGE 🙂

    • Deetee February 26, 2016, 10:22 pm

LOL!!!! U got me on that one!

    • Kissup Kristie February 27, 2016, 9:10 pm

      Love your sense of humer!

  • Bluedog February 26, 2016, 5:34 pm

Neither Cruz or Rubio can beat Hillary. The real question is do you prefer Trump (who is imperfect) or Hillary, who wants to confiscate all firearms. I’m shocked by how many people here choose Hillary.

    • James February 26, 2016, 9:02 pm

Amazing how wrong you are, since all polls have shown that a head to head by either Rubio or Cruz beats KILLary, yet Trump loses… SMH

      • Bill Cleveland February 27, 2016, 5:03 pm

        Cite the Polls – now.
Cruz once proposed an immediate increase in the base H-1B cap from 65,000 to 325,000. Cruz offered the H-1B increase as an amendment in 2013 to the Senate’s comprehensive immigration bill.

The pro-amnesty Club For Growth (CfG) gave Cruz $705,657. It begs the question: Who is Cruz lying to; CFG who is for open borders, or the American people who don’t want open borders? There are too many obvious contradictions. Remember too, that CFG spent $3.3 million on attack ads against Donald Trump because he refused to donate $1 million to them, and for good reason.

In fact, for every hard line in the sand that Cruz has said he won’t cross, he’s gleefully stepped over when the politics of the moment called for it. Defunding Planned Parenthood? Not so much now. Repealing Obamacare? It’s the law of the land. Stopping the Iran deal? The deal got done. The list of hard stances Cruz has earnestly taken and subsequently abandoned goes on and on, just as he earnestly supports everything that he’s saying at that very moment.

Cruz has no problem climbing in bed with the enemies of freedom to gain the presidency. He is a globalist, just as those he’s chosen as advisors are globalist elitists. Kissenger, Brehzenski, Elliot Abrams of the CFR, Cruz Foreign Policy advisor is James Woolsey- CIA Director under Bill Clinton. Those who are supporting Cruz with their monies are globalists as well.

        Jeez do the research.

  • VietNamVet February 26, 2016, 5:29 pm

What’s good for Donald is also good for this country: “capitalism”; Keep in mind Regan was a democrat before he was a Republican. Nobody is going to take away our guns, as too many have them and will not surrender them. This country reminds me of VietNam in the early days – terrorism methodology…….. now we all must be more observant and cautious in public; if you don’t know how to do that, ask a highly trained professional (policeman).

    • Rouge1 February 26, 2016, 7:45 pm

Regan was a mythical blued dog demacrat kind of like a conservative commie who signed the volkmier McClure act and supported amnesty for illegal invaders. Yea so what could go wrong with electing a self-absorbed x-demacommie anti 2a now kind of 2a narcissist

    • Don February 27, 2016, 8:25 pm

You are right sir. Trump is the only HOPE for this screwed up country. We need a business man running this country, not SCUM SUCKING POLYTICKIANS!!!

  • Dan February 26, 2016, 4:58 pm

The Donald when asked about his position on gun control: “Guns like me! Ask any gun, they’ll tell you how much they like me, in fact ask your gun right now if it likes me and it will tell you how much it likes me, and you know guns like me more than any of these other candidates. You think your gun likes Rubio? Rubio’s a lightweight, your gun doesn’t like him anymore than Cruz, and you know they’re both wetbacks – ask your guns if they would like to have one of those illegals in the White House. Ask my bodyguards, they’ll tell you how much their guns like me! I’m going to make this country great again, and then your gun is going to like me even more, and I like guns too, in fact I might even have Mexico build that wall out of guns because you know, guns really like me! Governor Christie just mentioned that if his bodyguards let him talk to their guns, he knows they would tell him to agree with me or else and they would also tell him that they like me because as you already know, everyone likes me because I’m the best, smartest, and dammit, guns just like me!

    • mm February 27, 2016, 1:38 am

Trump is a blowhard without integrity. I stood behind Carson until he started the constant ramble attempting to demonize Cruz about something a campaign member did. The thing was nothing the media turned it into. As a matter of fact it was CNN that first broke the incorrect info about Rubin droppings out. Even if it was everything touted the lose of integrity on Carson’s part was discouraging. At this point his 2% would be more effective elsewhere

    • Mike Silver February 27, 2016, 11:41 am

      Bravo!

    • Mike Silver February 27, 2016, 12:12 pm

Bravo! You nailed the rhetoric . . . Best laugh I’ve had in a while. Low information voters take note at what Trump is selling and what you are buying into!

  • marc February 26, 2016, 4:43 pm

I trust him on the 2A and the other issues that matter to me.As such, I will vote for him enthusiastically. It is congress that passes the laws, not the President. We should keep that in mind. We should also remember that President George H.W. Bush banned the import of semiautomatic rifles in March 1989 and made the ban permanent in July and George W. Bush flatly stated that he supported the 1994 AWB and would have extended the ban if it had crossed his desk which, thankfully, did not happen. and then Reagan signed the Brady Bill of course.
So Trump has stated that he supports the 2A and the right to carry and the right to own an AR15 type rifle. I take him at his word because he’s not a politician. It’s the politicians in congress that I worry about. Anti-second amendment bills should never make it to the President’s desk. he shouldn’t ever be given the opportunity to sign such a bill into law.

    • Michael February 26, 2016, 5:38 pm

Hopefully you don’t believe the campaign promises of any candidate. Surely you know candidates say whatever we want to hear during the campaign, then do whatever they really wanted once in office.

So how do we know what any candidate will do once in office? The best predictor of future voting behavior is past voting behavior. Politicians at least have a public voting record we can look at, but Trump does not. So the problem here is that we have absolutely no idea what Trump will do, unless we are so naive as to actually believe in campaign promises.

      • Marc February 27, 2016, 5:21 pm

Honestly, I think the first ever foreign born President is a bigger threat to our constitution than Donald Trump. That’s Pandora’s box right there. I think conservatives will serve their own interests best by working with Donald Trump, not against him. I also think that his brand of nationalism will be like a round of much needed chemotherapy for this country. Go Trump.

  • Cliff Chandler February 26, 2016, 4:29 pm

I am not really fond of Trump but of all the candidates I trust him more. Rubio and Cruz are trypical Washington politicians who are bought and paid by big corporations and have done their beck & call as all of the politicians have so that makes them unreliable in my eyes as they will turn on a dime. Hillary and Sanders are no brainers as you know they will walk all over the Constitution as liberals do. So I have go with Trump ……………for now. I may pay for it later but he looks like the best choice.

  • C.S. Williams February 26, 2016, 4:29 pm

I don’t trust Trump. He’s a spoiled narcissistic greedy brat. But guess I would be to if my daddy gave me $40,000,000 . He will say or do anything to get the deal done. We all know he has liberal democratic foundations. Every one is yelling about anti-establishment and this guy is in bed with all the big wigs and will crush anyone and everything to get what HE WANTS. He has nothing in common with the blue collar worker. HE IS THE ONE PERCENT!

    • TPSnodgrass February 26, 2016, 5:42 pm

I do not, nor will I ever support nor vote for Donald Trump. I do not believe his “conversion” at all to conservatism. I DO believe he personally is delusional enough to believe his own bilge he is spewing in regards to the two Hispanic candidates, both of whom have clearly definable records on the Second Amendment.
He is in this only to help his pals, the Clintonistas. He’s been FAR too cozy with them financially and politically (all open source and documentable for the ideologues), with the Clintons over the years to ever be “trusted” with MY Constitutional Rights.
For those willing to parse their Rights to such a schlub, even Hitler loved his dog, so it is with Donald. I don’t care if his son reloads his own ammo in NYC (which is a gross violation of a customer’s privacy IF the alleged RCBS blabber mouth incident detailed above happened), it doesn’t mean Donald’ Jr’s father is anything close to a Constitutionalist, nor a supporter of the Second Amendment. Actions speak louder than his shrill rhetoric, and those who fall prey to his Goebbels-speeches deserve the government(repressive it WILL be) we will get from him.
And no, Donald will not EVER build the Southern Wall, that’s not EVER going to happen in his administration/s.

    • Bill Cleveland February 26, 2016, 5:58 pm

First do the research. Trumps old man gave him one million dollars. Trump grew that into a significant fortune, before he inherited the bonus money.

Second – Cruz was eyeball deep in the Trilateral Commission efforts in the early 2000’s. The one worlders wanted to turn the U.S. – Mexico and Canada into a mini European Union. Cruz wife was on the Executive Board of the Trilateral Commission, as well as Goldman Sachs, Citibank ect ect. One of the primary paradigms of the Trilateral Commission was ensuring the U.S. fell into line with the gun laws inherent to Mexico and Canada. Now you tell me how Cruz is such a great patriot, considering his history. Do the research.

Rubio is Mitch McConnells butt boy. He is the RNC jello packet that will follow their orders to the letter.

At least Trump pisses them all off legitimately. That may just be good enuf.

      • Harry February 26, 2016, 9:58 pm

        CS and TP,

Your lack of information regarding the DON just encouraged me to make a donation to his campaign. I suggest you get informed. The people who want your guns are the Trilateral Commission, Goldman Sachs, Citi, and other 1%ers Cruz is indebted to. Trump has no ties to these. You may be envious of his success but he EARNED it. Please tell me where Cruz’s success comes from. Government? His wife? Aren’t you all proud of his success? But when it comes to a real free enterprise giant, you are too envious to realize his success qualifies him to bring success of this country once again! Make America Great Again! Donald Trump 2016!

      • Dennis Wenger February 27, 2016, 7:37 am

… Except that Cruz has actually defended the 2nd Amendment several times, a few of them being in the Supreme Court. If he were set to eliminate our gun rights as in Mexico, I highly doubt he would have done that very effectively. Do your own research.

Have we learned nothing from Obama?

Trump doesn’t have to actually believe anything he says, he just has to convince you that he does. He’s a pandering/marketing genius and his popular following is little more than star struck teenagers with little common sense and low information. How will he do most of the stuff he claims he will do? No body cares, because he’s not PC and “tells it like it is, I’m going to vote for him”. Look at the record. There is plenty of video on record. That’s why Cops have NCIC and keep Rap Sheets.

        • Bill Cleveland February 27, 2016, 2:08 pm

Cite the SCOTUS Cases and then tell us how any of them were anything except superficial, whitewash efforts – perhaps in order to let the uninformed make blanket statements as to Cruz being the “one” for 2nd Amendment whizbangs. Cruz is a fabrication of the Trilateral Commission and his history has been designed to make people like you, who haven’t done the research – make unenlightened decisions. Unless you are part of his vetting and smoke screen team. The data is readily available – if you do the research.

  • Desert Dog February 26, 2016, 4:25 pm

In a recent call to RCBS I spoke with a customer service representative and we discussed the current GOP race. He stated that RCBS ships reloading equipment directly to Donald Trump’s son in NYC. He certainly can afford to buy ammo but he reloads his own ammo which in my opinion indicates he is pro-2nd. I figure the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. My only concern about “The Donald” is how he will handle our relationship with other world powers outside of Putin, who loves him. Hopefully the Star Wars satellites are still in place.

  • Paul Schneider February 26, 2016, 3:26 pm

I’m hesitant to support Trump. I feel he is more of an opportunist than a great American patriot. His liberal background along with his inability to control his mouth and whom he bashes gives me the chills. In my own state of Arizona he refused to answer the survey sent to him by a Christian organization regarding the protection of life. He talks a good line but when it comes to commitment he’s missing in action.

  • Don February 26, 2016, 3:24 pm

I could be wrong but I think people need to give him some credit. I think he’s being the shrewd businessman on using the GOP to get what he wants. He is leading in the running. He could really care for this country like we all do. He admits to things he’s done in the past (Unlike many other politicians) so I admire him for that. He’s straightforward so You have to admire him for that too.If you believe him (Again unlike many other politicians) he could make a great president.

  • Rhino-1 February 26, 2016, 2:38 pm

The “Don” is more of a willow in the wind than even Billary… I can’t believe how much of us are so eager to buy his snake oil just because he talks tough and is “anti-establishment…” It’s almost comical. HE IS THE ESTABLISHMENT; And we’re repeating the same mistakes we made in the last two elections. Let’s stick to our guns (pardon the pun…)–let’s support the known supporter of conservative values (2A rights, anti-abortion, anti-big government). Cruz was not my first choice, but he has now become my ONLY choice. The Don WILL let you down. He WILL be driven by the winds of the times, he WILL compromise his stance(s) because he has none… He WILL choose the popular route. His narcissism tells us so.

    • Duncan Peterson February 26, 2016, 5:03 pm

I couldn’t agree more or state it better. He is so totally playing to what the conservatives want to hear (and many independents) but is devoid of principal and the absolute necessity of making decisions based upon the Constitution. Let me ask you, if you strongly disagreed with him, would you fear retribution?? Is that what our Founders had in mind, or is that why they started their own government?

    • Bill Cleveland February 26, 2016, 6:19 pm

My apology for repeating myself here; however this mantra of how Gruz is the only answer is getting really lame. Do some research for Gods sake.
Cruz was eyeball deep in the Trilateral Commission efforts in the early 2000’s. Cruz hasn’t drawn blood once, in all his so called raging against the “man”, filibustering ect ect. Look at his factual history. Do the research.

      • Dennis Wenger February 27, 2016, 7:47 am

Please explain why Cruz did such a fantastic job defending the 2nd Amendment. Please explain why his stance on the Constitution jibes with the Founders of the Country? Please explain where you are reading this tripe… and I so hope you haven’t been hoodwinked by that Alex Jones/Infowars/911 Truther POS… he’s just like the Don, opportunist extraordinaire….

    • Batman February 27, 2016, 11:07 am

I agree also..he is the consummate salesman

  • Slick-Willy February 26, 2016, 2:28 pm

I’ve read ALOT of comments about Trump did this, Trump thought this or Trump supported whoever. Maybe all accurate. Do any of us want to be held to acts or ideas of our past ? I’ve done and said several things in the past that I wouldn’t necessarily repeat today, but at the time….if you haven’t, maybe you should run for office. I used to crap in my own britches, but I grew out of it. We ALL evolve and with age comes wisdom – hopefully !! All these Cruz supporters better think about one thing : can he beat Hi-lie-ry. I simply don’t think so. I most closely identify with Trump on immigration and his latest, very specific position on guns (2A). In addition, I trust him from an economic and financial perspective than all the others combined. Regardless of their positions, if they can’t win it’s all irrelevant. Just my 2-cents. GO TRUMP !!

  • Idaho Shooter February 26, 2016, 1:55 pm

Not only no, but hell no! He would change his position the moment he thinks there is an advantage to do so. I would not trust him to mop my floor let alone run our country.

  • TLBrush February 26, 2016, 1:38 pm

For all of you that say we have no choice but Trump I would like to hear your arguments against Cruz. He almost single-handedly tried to block Obama-care by filibustering for hours on end. He has been willing to make enemies of those Senators that most of us hate for making back room deals (a.k.a McConnell). He recommended a more conservative judge than Roberts to Bush. He defends you protection from illegal search and seizure under the 4th Amendment. He is endorsed by the group Gun Owners of America.
I ran for Congress and I understand it is easy to pick a candidate with no voting record to defend rather than one that may have voted against one of your key issues. I tend to be a one issue voter and that is the 2nd Amendment as I feel that it is the one that truly guarantees all the others but you may have more pressing issues than gun ownership and that is fine.

If you want someone that will defend your right to own firearms it seems to me that you can guess or hope that “The Donald” will stand by your rights or you could vote for a guy that has a track record of doings so.

    • jerry smith February 26, 2016, 2:03 pm

How many of Cruz’s campaign promises did he keep? As I see it he is either 1. Incompetent or 2. A Liar. We can’t afford to have Cruz as Prez. If we keep electing professional politicians, we will keep having the same results. That is the definition of insanity. If we want something new we have to vote for someone outside of the corrupt political system. The founding Fathers didn’t want a permanent political class running our country. They wanted people that were successful leaders in their private lives. To leave their profession and volunteer to run for public office to help their country. That sounds just like what Donald Trump is doing. He got sick of watching fools run the country into the ground. So he is stepping up to do his best to save our country. What could be more patriotic than that?

    • Harry February 26, 2016, 2:12 pm

How about this one….His wife is a vice president for Goldman Sachs, the biggest bunch of banksters and world-government meddlers in existence today. Heavy duty strings attached to Cruz. None attached to Donald.

    • marc February 26, 2016, 4:46 pm

Cruz would be the first and only openly foreign born POTUS in our 226 year history. That’s more of a threat to our constitution than Donald Trump as far as I’m concerned. Electing Cruz opens Pandora’s box.

  • Jack February 26, 2016, 1:24 pm

Trump can’t be trusted on any issue. He has held liberal positions on immigration, socialized medicine, guns, abortion etc. He supported John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, even Jimmy Carter going back further. He MAY have completely reinvented himself as a conservative, in his late 60s. Or, he MAY be lying to get votes. Which is more likely?

Ted Cruz is the real version of what Trump is pretending to be.

  • just1spark February 26, 2016, 1:21 pm

If any of you trust ANY MAN with YOUR rights, you dont deserve them. Period.

This whole country has gone stupid. The key term in ‘MY RIGHTS’ is that two letter word “MY”.

Not yours. Not your uncles. Not your blowhard billionaire politicians. MINE!

  • Viet Vet February 26, 2016, 12:52 pm

I believe trumpie boy is a Trojan horse. If you work on that premise then everything he has said and done makes sense. Besides the fact that he is a narcissistic, blowhard, bully, liar, heathen, draft dodging coward and all round POS. I do not support him.

    • john 1965--1967 February 26, 2016, 1:12 pm

    • Bill Cleveland February 26, 2016, 6:33 pm

I believe Cruz is the RNC Stalking Horse. He was a Trilateral Commission rachet for Rick Perry, as the Solicitor General of Texas. His wife was an Executive Board Member of the Trilateral Commission. Gold Man Sachs and Citibank own Cruz at some level. Last and not least Cruz never laid a glove on any of his so called opponents in the Senate. He only ever tilted at windmills that he had no chance of touching at all – you keep telling us he so smart. Why would he chase things no one could affect the outcomes on; to get the great PR effect – to be able to say he is the outsider. And sure enuf – a lot of people are gullible enuf to go for it. Do the research. Don’t take any individuals word for anything – look it up yourself. Pretty soon the dots start connecting, if you work at it.

  • Vee Kay February 26, 2016, 12:33 pm

Trump, early on issued a 2A statement. He carries himself, and the statement =went on to push concealed carry reciprocity among all states, comparing it to a drivers license, honored in all states. It is the establishment Republicans that are more likely to cave.
As far as donations, he was a businessman, you have to occasionally grease the wheel and establish contacts and networks. He has been a registered Republican since 1980, it’s documented.
He’s got my trust on the 2nd amendment.
Anyone that would grant a path to citizenship would create close to estimated 30 million Democratic voters that are voting for benefits, but get the extra anti-gun agenda in the deal.
    Go Trump 2016.

  • Chief February 26, 2016, 12:27 pm

Nope. The folks are going on emotion rather than logic with Trump . I pray the Republican voters will take time to look past emotions because its not just about right now .As I stated earlier so much rides on this election with the damage Obama has done to this Country and folks voted him in on emotion as well . Trumps record is a liberal one and your past does matter .Cruz gets my vote because of his record .I am very concerned about the Supreme Court nominations even before Scalia died and I trust Cruz on the future of the court . I also trust him on the whole Constitution I cant say that about trump as his record shows me liberalism .Trump may call himself conservative now but he wasn’t when an election was on the line.

    • Matt February 26, 2016, 8:14 pm

I totally agree with you and have been saying that myself. Emotions are why he is doing so well, just watched him act like a 5 year old kid. How embarrassing he is. He is getting to the point I dont want to even watch him anymore. Is not presidential at all.

  • Danangdoc February 26, 2016, 12:25 pm

Do I trust that a billionaire can represent me? We’re speaking of a man born wealthy, with an unbroken history of being wealthy. He knows nothing else. Does he – can he – understand the needs, frustrations, aspirations, fears, pleasures and sorrows of a working man like me? To Trump, I’m just another worker in one of his businesses, who he will slap on the back, say, “Good job, champ,” and pay as little as he can get away with. Any working man, like myself, who trusts Trump, is a damn fool and probably believes in Santa Claus. What’s happened to this country that only billionaires – or people “owned” by billionaires – can run for president? The billionaires own the government and we only “dance” for their amusement.

  • Chuck in Phoenix February 26, 2016, 12:18 pm

If you Morons keep tearing down the best chance of winning the White House, you are going to get exactly what you deserve.
    Hillary Clinton!
Trump carries and has said so, I trust him an the 2nd.
I also trust him to be for the people instead of for the Politicians.
Keep infighting and supporting that immature kid that threw a temper tantrum last night and We will all lose this election.
Rubio looked immature and desperate last night and today on TV, he is no more than a Shill for “Business as usual” establishment.
It is obvious that he din’t come up with that plan by himself…When Romney said “WE” think there is a bombshell who do you think is talking about?
The same ol good ol boys that want Trump to lose because he doesn’t play to their self serving agenda.
Trump is bringing in tens of Thousands of new voters to the GOP…You better support him because the Demorats are buying tens of thousands of useless POS votes buy giving shit away and letting Illegal Invaders Vote…

    • Forrest Dinwiddie February 26, 2016, 1:08 pm

I trust Trump to do what is best for Trump, as he perceives it at that moment. He has no principles; nothing he will stand on and defend with his life. The country can’t trust him on any issue, including 2a. Even without 2a, he will still have a gun. Maybe he’ll have yours or mine.

      • R Baker February 26, 2016, 3:43 pm

I disagree about Trump having nothing to stand for. He has a financial empire that a simple blue collar guy like myself can’t even imagine. He has responsibilities every day I can’t imagine, because of this he knows how to organize the people around him to support his empire. It’s quite possible he could organize a government cabinet as well. He would probably be our best choice to eliminate all the Muslim traitors that BHO will leave in high places. Nobody people like myself are basically along for the ride but his stake in the game is an empire and just perhaps being president is not only the best way to protect our country but his empire as well. If this is beneficial to all of us it could be a good thing. One more thing, since the house and senate is so busy looking for someone to suck up to he might make a fair choice since he knows how to lead. I also have lots of doubts and haven’t made up my mind, I’m just sharing a thought.

  • Paul Fusillo February 26, 2016, 12:13 pm

I believe that trusting Trump for anything is a huge mistake. If he could make money on it he not only would take away guns but might deport gun owners. It never ceases to amaze me that some people would trust what he says.

I just got two emails this morning. Yours and one from GUN OWNERS OF AMERICA. Both emails have raised the same question. GOA, brought up the issue of how Ted Cruz, has always voted in favor of gun rights…I always pay attention to GOA and recently, now your site, GUNS AMERICA.
with all the information provided, I decided to post both articles to my Facebook page asking for critical thinking with the information both provided.
Up until now, I am in favor for Donald Trump and have critically thought about what is happening within our government..I would like to share some other articles here for everyone to view and reflect upon…
I am a veteran of the Vietnam war era…US Army, 1972-1975. I was trained to fight against the axis of evil, COMMUNISM AND THE TRAITOROUS ACTS OF HANOI JANE FONDA.
HERE ARE THE ITEMS I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE…INPUT IS ENCOURAGED…WHY, BECAUSE OUR COUNTRY DEPENDS ON THE RIGHT CANDIDATE TO BRING AMERICA BACK TO WHAT IT USED TO BE..
WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN…IT MEANS THE END OF AMERICA.. THAT IS THE WAY RUSH EXPLAINED IT…IT IS THE SECOND ARTICLE THAT IS VERY DISTURBING FROM THE COMMUNIST PARTY USA AND THEIR GOALS…
SO WHEN I LOOK AT TURMP, I AM STILL WONDERING, IF HE IS A RINO, OR IF HE WOKE UP LIKE I DID AFTER MOVING FROM OHIO, TO ARIZONA…I AM NO LONGER A DEMOCRAT AND NOW SEE THEM AS THE AXIZ OF EVIL (COMMUNIST/SOCIALIST)

Cruz worked for Bush. His job? To secure a Supreme Court nominee. His choice? John Roberts. Yes, the Homosexual plant who gave us Obamacare and Same-Sex Mairraige. His wife, Heidi is a member of the Councel on Foriegn Relations, and wrote the book (literally) on the coming, North American Union which will make the United States, Canada and Mexico ONE COUNTRY. I’ll take a chance on Trump any day before I would vote for thE globalist elite Cruz.

  • Kevin Terrell February 26, 2016, 11:45 am

Trumps comments have been so clear and so absolute that their is no wiggle room with in his comments. He doesn’t speak in bs like Hillary where she can say something and mean nothing. Trump has gone on the record as a absolute second amendment vanguard and the man knows he has to back it up or his credibility is gone. The Donald is also smart enough to realize that pandering to the gun control crowd offers him nothing. The man is about winning and wether It is guns, immigration, trade agreements or whatever he will choose the winning team and we have been kicking liberal neo fascist ass for the past 30 plus years. Needless to say Trump isn’t after lobbiest money and can say whatever he wants so I personally trust his loyalty more than some “professional politician ” who is whoring him self out to the highest bidder. God bless the Donald and God bless America.

    • Ron February 26, 2016, 5:30 pm

Right on brother, my thoughts EXACTLY.

If one reads comments on other sites and see how the lefties are going nuts on Trump they will understand the libs are TERRIFIED of Trump going against the Queen or the Commie.

Trump will not screw us on the 2nd

  • troy February 26, 2016, 11:45 am

I am un-subscribing my emailsfrom gunsamerica for this hit piece on Trump. don’t think you can trust Trump? who the hell do you trust? Jeb? Rubio? Cruz? politicians that keep losing and giving everything to obama? Trump is the ONLY guy who will beat Hillary. maybe you really want Hillary? and those sneaky comments like, maybe I’ll vote for Trump are all lies!

  • Tommy Barrios February 26, 2016, 11:44 am

    Hey Moderator!
    What happened to my comment??
I haven’t said anything bad or abusive?
    WTF!

Are you sure it went through? I’m not seeing it. You may have to repost it.

I am an entrepreneur. I worked 25 yrs. prior to starting my own in the private sector. My wife took a 4 yrs. stint in the public sector (School system) where I earned a clear view of the way the public sector works. I have always had disdain of how in the public sector there is very limited accountability. If one doesn’t produce in the private sector job for what you have been hire and paid a salary to do, you are fired. Period. In the public sector, unless you commit some heinous crime, there is no accountability, no expectation of a performance level/goal to achieve, no termination of employment. Just look at Lois Lerner and others in the IRS. Given a golden handshake on poor performance. A long prelude into my thought. I have always felt the President of the United States should come from the Public sector. They probably were given management training on how to manage people and how to motivate performance. They had to manage a financial budget. There wasn’t an endlessly deep pocket to draw upon to spend and they held those spending accountable to the budgets they were provided. Unlike our Narcissist in Chief who was a community organizer. A social worker who wasn’t accountable, didn’t have any management responsibility, and probably only really learned how to obtain government handouts to support his agenda. I believe a private sector person, through experience and the drive of being successful will put in place around them intelligent, experience individuals that can advise and manage their respective roles. Unlike Obama, who surrounded himself with like minded yes men, many from academia who only have there theoretical social perspectives that they chose to experiment with there social agendas. If Trump can be trusted with truly supporting and defending the constitution, I believe he has the right no nonsense, direct communicator (No PC) approach and can be the right “Manager” to lead the country. Big question is the Support and Defend. Not sure about the Jr. Congressmen and Governor. The politicians all want to claim they can manage the role and they think the President needs to have the Government experience to do it. But the businessman has the political experience as well as the drive to succeed.

    • Gordon February 26, 2016, 1:41 pm

I could not agree more. Time for someone with a business sense and drive to take the reigns. Donald Trump is a character but he is also a successful individual whom has surrounded himself with the right people in business and I believe would do the same in the White House. People whine about him being born wealthy,,, Well there are plenty of people who were born into money and lost it all. You don’t stay wealthy by being a failure…

  • Gingerbaker February 26, 2016, 11:28 am

Can’t believe what a bunch of paranoid cowards you all are. You bozos are all set to never vote for any Democrat because you are convinced they are going to take away your guns, right?

Guess what – it’s impossible. Never going to happen, not after the two latest Supreme Court decisions on the topic, not to mention more than two hundred years of jurisprudence which is also not supportive of any such thing. Not to mention the arguments of the Founding fathers in the Federalist Papers. Your 2nd rights are protected. Forever.

Meanwhile, you are all very useful dupes of the Republican party, who are the assholes behind all this anti-gun conspiracy bull, and who are doing everything possible – with your help in the voting booth – to ruin hunting habitat, keep your wages low, deny you low-cost health insurance, defund care for our war veterans, deny you the kind of holiday and child-care benefits the rest of the world enjoys, keep college ridiculously expensive. They are the assholes who made it virtually impossible for an ordinary schmo like you or me to declare personal bankruptcy, they are the pricks who spend billions to deny global warming, which is going to ruin species numbers, ruin hunting, and eventually make our food and water expensive as hell.

All these things make enjoying your guns in the outdoors less successful, less enjoyable, less inheritable for your kids and grandkids. And here you are – helping all this shit become true because you are buying into this fantasy – that the Democrats – even if some of them want to – can have a prayer of taking your guns away.

Stop drinking the Kool-Aid, boys. The republicans are playing you like a fish.

    • drdos1943 February 26, 2016, 11:53 am

California, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, etc. have all but made it impossible to “keep and bear arms.” … and the Democrats have “gun control” as a major plank in their platform. During the Obama administration, the Constitution has been violated and ignored more times than ever in our history. The Democrats won’t restrict gun ownership further??? If you believe that, you have got to be delusional.

    • Captain Bob February 26, 2016, 12:36 pm

Hey, Gingerbaker. How does it look down there? I’m referring to the subsurface of the beach where you have your head in the sand. It sure would be nice to be all confident that our 2A rights are secure but they are far from it. It would only take a Supreme Court to judge that the “Right to keep and bear arms” is for the militia and not individuals and overturn the Heller and McDonald decisions. Can’t be done? HAH! It’s done ALL THE TIME IN COURTS. Precedence helps but is not absolute. With an anti-gun Supreme Court appointee to replace Scalia we could very well lose our guns.

    • Vee Kay February 26, 2016, 12:38 pm

The guardian of the 2A on the supreme court just died. No way a Democrat will nominate someone even close to a favorable view to individual right to bear arms. Heller vs. DC was ONE VOTE from going the other way. Dems don’t want to take our guns away? Yes, we can keep our doctor and insurance is we like them…..

    • Chief February 26, 2016, 12:43 pm

Hows about your the Bozo for supporting Democrats who clearly say they want gun control .Obama tries on every occasion to pass gun control . Hillary said she favors Australia’s gun confiscation .The states controlled by Dems have the most overwhelming gun restriction ,magazine restrictions /bans as well as making it harder and in many cases impossible for citizens to conceal carry , Maryland controlled by Dems now has a 5 cent per shell tax on ammo just to name a few things and you think we should vote Dem??? You sir are the Koolaid drinker ! We live in reality.

    • Herb February 26, 2016, 2:06 pm

You are the one who drank the kool-aid! First of all the rest of the world is collapsing or didn’t you read the news …EVER. Second even the other idiots have stopped calling it “global warming”. They now call it “climate change” because they are constantly proven wrong. The climate changes constantly. The sun goes through cycles and THAT is far and away the primary factor in weather. There are more and more very large ancient cities being found under more then 100 feet of water. I wonder if 10 or 15 thousand years ago they tried to “stop the rising temps/water” ? No they MOVED! it is a joke to think people have the power to significantly impact the long term global weather. Do some research for goodness sake.

    • The Kight February 26, 2016, 5:35 pm

Read what this guy writes, he is a socialist hack :
(1st Socialist talking point) to ruin hunting habitat, keep your wages low, deny you low-cost health insurance, defund care for our war veterans, deny you the kind of holiday and child-care benefits the rest of the world enjoys, keep college ridiculously expensive.

(2nd Socialist talking point) They are the assholes who made it virtually impossible for an ordinary schmo like you or me to declare personal bankruptcy, they are the pricks who spend billions to deny global warming, which is going to ruin species numbers, ruin hunting, and eventually make our food and water expensive as hell.

    • Hank February 26, 2016, 5:47 pm

      What planet are you from?

    • Keith February 27, 2016, 11:12 am

We are supposed to believe that Democrats will not ban private firearm ownership? I see laws like these coming from the Democrat states:

As of April 4, 2013, magazines holding more than 10 rounds are considered Large Capacity Magazines, and such magazines manufactured after that date may not be sold or transferred within the state of Connecticut. Owners of registered Large Capacity Magazines may not load such magazines with more than 10 rounds except when inside the owner’s home or on the premises of a licensed shooting range.

Section 32310 of the California Penal Code states: “commencing January 1, 2000, any person in this state who manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, buys, or receives any large-capacity magazine is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or imprisonment”. High-capacity magazines (magazines that can hold more than ten rounds of ammunition) may not be sold in California. Thus, the offenses listed can be charged as a felony or a misdemeanor at the discretion of the prosecutor.

These are just the tip of the iceberg. Obama said he favored Australia gun control laws as does Hillary Clinton. In Australia one has to have their firearm disassembled and locked up in three different safes from the ammunition. You are also subject to law enforcement inspections in your home to see how the firearms are stored.

Bernie Sanders said he was for banning semi automatic firearms in the United States. The Democrat Party is the party of stripping private firearm ownership and the large expansion of government. They don’t believe in the old American spirit of liberty and of being self dependent.

    • DJC February 27, 2016, 5:18 pm

You need to go play your drums and smoke some more of what is making you delusional.

  • Tommy Barrios February 26, 2016, 11:27 am

I can see this got a lot of comments and it seems many are wary of Donald Trump, others are obviously enamored by his wealth and trumped up prestige!
    DUMP TRUMP, I say!
He is in this POTUS race for Donald Trump, just like MOST politicians and he could care less about you and me!
As far as the 2nd Amendment and other issues, I believe he will pull out his “New York Values” and we have another Obomination on our hands!
I live in TX where Ted Cruz ran for Senate and he did the same dirty tricks here he is doing to Marco Rubio in order to win, if you like that kind of smarmy lawyer politician then vote for him, you deserve him!
I am voting for Marco Rubio hoping he gets the nomination!!

  • Larry February 26, 2016, 11:24 am

I am a Trump supporter. I believe Trump will protect our 2nd amendment rights. I also believe he can beat either one of the democrat opponents. However if he get elected president I don’t believe he will get very much accomplished because both parties in congress will be against him because they only serve their special interest groups. Trump is more like a average guy with an American Dream like a lot of his supporters. A vote for Trump is message to the career politicians that they are out of touch with the American people and we are tired of how they are ruining our country with poor trade agreements, lack of immigration reform, lack of healthcare reform, slow economy, and spinning gun control scenarios out of terrorist attacks. Enough, ok done venting for now.

  • Tripwire February 26, 2016, 11:23 am

While this was an interesting read and brought up some interesting points the real meat is in the comments section and here’s mine.
Plain and simple, WE, meaning you, me the guy standing next to you have only one actual choice in this election and that’s who we vote for in the primary, why you may ask? When it’s all over we will have the last man standing, and that man will face either a left wing serial liar or an avowed Communist. So, who you going to vote for? Be it Trump, Cruz , Rubio or Pee Wee Herman that’s our only choice, I helped elect Slick Willy because I voted for Ross Perot on the Independent side of the ballet, I won’t make that mistake again, So whomever it is on my side of the ballet is who I will vote for as will you unless you get stupid and stay home. Please don’t!
This is the one election in my life time that will decide the actual future of America, the next President if he or she serves two terms will likely replace most of the SCOTUS, right now if the GOP caves in to Obama on this current appointment we are screwed for who knows how long.
So, on election think about driving people to the polls who might not be able to get there, lots of people don’t vote because its too hard for them to get there.

    • Lemondrop9344 February 26, 2016, 1:07 pm

Darn, I voted for Ross Perot also. Your comments are spot on.
Do I trust the ‘Donald’……….. Well it’s an unfortunate fact that in order to make change, be it in politics or business, you need to lead and build a consensus to move any agenda forward. I like the idea of a president coming from the public sector.
I believe the ‘Donald’s’ ego is so large, he will fight until hell freezes over to implement the programs he advocates ‘To Make America Great Again’. Would not say I trust him, but, what he says appeals to me. It’s apparent it appeals to other conservatives also.
The Republican party will get my vote regardless of the candidate.

  • Scott Florio February 26, 2016, 11:21 am

Go with Trump. NO one else can be trusted. They are ALL CROOKS

  • Gary February 26, 2016, 11:15 am

Yes, I do trust Donald Trump…wish they had not gotten in to snitting (guess that’s a word) because I also like Cruz and Rubio but still trust more in Trump, if I have my Choice in 2016. I would combine all three…..And I do think Carson is a very smart man. Wish us all the Best….

  • gary sheldon February 26, 2016, 11:13 am

Trump has bought and paid for many politicians and is honest enough to admit it. Cruz, Carson, Rubio are 3 that are a threat to him because they are not for sale. That is why I would trust them above Trump even though Trump is a charismatic personality with his bold talk. People can change and improve their outlook politically and perhaps Trump has become more conservative. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights is too important to put in the hands of a “gambler” casino mogul unless he is a true convert.

  • Jonathan Wellington February 26, 2016, 11:08 am

I would like to begin by saying I am not incredibly active and up to date on candidates currently, and preface that by also stating I am a resident (and victim) of The People’s Republic of New York. Those statements being made, and to be as direct and clear as I can to the issue at hand, I truly feel Trump is the only candidate who has any concern or even interest in protecting not only our 2A rights but our Constitutional rights in general.

    Just, however, my two cents.

  • Alan Sullivan February 26, 2016, 11:06 am

Trump is completely not trustworthy, he’s in bed with the Democrats. Every week he gets more and more outlandish, he’s trying to estrange Republican voters into voting 3rd party. Trying to split the vote, so a Democrat gets elected. He’s got too much history of being a liberal for me.

  • Tom bernasconi February 26, 2016, 11:02 am

Yes I trust D Trump. We need someone different to lead the country. Give a non politician a chance to make the government work better otherwise with everyone else it will be more of the same.

  • Wayne February 26, 2016, 10:56 am

You look away from the warts on Trump like they ignored the warts on Obama. It’s foolish and dangerous. I don’t trust Donald and it’s to risky to roll the dice with him.

    • Chief February 26, 2016, 11:34 am

Agreed ,people need to really take the time and consider all the ramifications of Trump . I have been talking about the next President and the likely 1-3 SCOTUS nominations since the summer before the death of our best friend the truly Honorable Justice Scalia .Cruz can beat Hillary , Rubio can beat Hillary I believe both would appoint Conservative with Trump its anyone’s guess and just like Obama people are willing to just roll the dice ,This “Chance” on Trump will affect us with the Supreme Court for decades .We could very well lose many of our gun rights that we will never get back .Think seriously about the future of our Republic .

  • Kylekay February 26, 2016, 10:52 am

To liberals no one that is a Republican or conservative is acceptable. Half of the USA’s population is living on handouts from the government and therefore are slaves to the side that they believe will keep the handouts coming, that is the Democratic “socialist” Party. That being said the establishment Republicans are not much better. Career politicians, establishment politicians, are what is destroying this country. We must elect non- establishment people if we are going to restore this country. People that will follow what their constituents want not what their political party demands! Trump may be the right person.

  • Dan Daly February 26, 2016, 10:51 am

I do not trust Trump and his cult like followers with or about anything.

  • Larry February 26, 2016, 10:45 am

The answer to this article is: Cruz 2016.

    • Nick February 26, 2016, 11:27 am

I do not have he answers that we are all looking for. Do I trust Trump ? Our founding fathers told us to trust no one with our freedom. Who will be best ? I don’t have that answer either, but I do know this. That every time a Democrat has been in office our nation and our rights have been degraded in one way or another. Have all the Republicans done us justice, no not always. BUT, they have protected our rights , some in a limited degree. For those who say they will stay home if one or the other get the nomination I say this. ” WE ARE NOT SCHOOL CHILDREN VOTING FOR A POPULAR CLASS PRESIDENT. IF ANY OF US STAY HOME AND DO NOT VOTE, THEN THAT IS A VOTE FOR THE OPPOSITION TO OUR FREEDOM. A VOTE TO TAKE AWAY THE RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS THAT WE HAVE CHERISHED ALL OF OUR LIVES. I CANNOT SIT BY IDLEY AND ALLOW THE DEMOCRAT SOCIALISTS TO CONTINUE TO WHITTLE AWAY AT THE CONSTITUTION BY NOT VOTING. IF WE WANT TO PROTEST THE NOMINEE FOR PRESIDENT THEN LET US GET OFF OUR BUTTS AND GET ACTIVE IN THE PROCESS. STAYING HOME IS NOT THE ANSWER TO OUR DILEMA. BEING ACTIVE AND VOCAL IS.

  • Harold Annen February 26, 2016, 10:45 am

I do trust Donald Trump with my 2A rights. As for flip-flopping: It’s apparent that Trump has opinions about things, but often they are not held very deeply and, to his credit, when given more or better information, he is willing to change his mind. This is, in my view, a good thing. Some people on this board might consider trying emulating this aspect of his personality. Posters here have dragged a great deal of other issues into this forum, but on the specific topic of Donald Trump and 2A rights, consider that he has simply come around to *our* way of thinking.

    • Chief February 26, 2016, 11:14 am

Trump said he would like to see Bloomberg get into the race .If you truly cherish the 2A as I do and were running for President would you make that statement ?Seriously consider that statement .And not for the possibility of its his thought of somehow using it to win . Would you happily say you wanted the anti-gun Bloomberg to run ?

      • pep rollins February 26, 2016, 12:48 pm

That would guarantee a Trump victory. He would definitely take votes away from the Democratic nominee. I own a gun store and so my wellbeing lies with the 2nd amendment. I have been around a long time and I would much rather take my chances with a successful businessman than any politician in any party. I have seen all the promises from them on both sides of the isle and I have learned that I cannot trust them. I don’t know what kind of president Trump would be, but I do know what will happen if we put another politician of either party in power. The same old blame game will keep happening and nothing will ever get done.

  • Austin Berens February 26, 2016, 10:36 am

Mr. Trump wears a bullet proof vest. Make no mistake, he knows that vest is NO gararantee not being killed by the massive number of people who want him DEAD. Like all the illegal Mexican gang members and muslims and CIA drug runners crossing our southern ‘GUN FREE ZONE.’
Mr. Trump needs cheap labor like Disney and the chamber of commerce…and yet he’s promising to stop the ILLEGAL immigration.
Mr. Trump needs to require all of his employees to be armed under the Second Amendment. Yes, I know they can’t in nyc, but that’s just one more thing he’s, going to have to fix.
“Mr. Trump, thank you for your service. Thank you being willing to step into the sewer of politics. Thank you for putting your life on hold and on the line for us. In God’s name May we be worthy of your sacrifice.”

  • Brian D Moore February 26, 2016, 10:29 am

I can not believe people are falling for his empty words. He routinely does business with the MOB. Has taken 160 million dollar loan from George Soros. Gave money to Harry Reid. Gave money to Nancy Pelosi. Gave money to Chuck Schumer. Gave money to the Clintons. Donald Trump’s money has put the people in power that want to take your guns! Is it really okay to sell your integrity for political favors? The Second Amendment doesn’t matter if you want a favor? Look at the timing! He “became conservative” when the Clintons needed him to give them cover. He believes in buying influence! I think he is going to lose to Hillary ON PURPOSE! She will make sure his “great business” filled with illegal immigrant labor makes another billion dollars!

    • davud February 26, 2016, 11:10 am

*** Is it really okay to sell your integrity for political favors? ***

      this.

trump is showing he’s no different than a traditional politician, except in how he’s willing to cop to it publicly. he freely admits he endorses corruption. he says he will ‘tone down’ his rhetoric if he wins the white house. in other words, he’s pandering and inauthentic, making it difficult to trust anything he says – just like the politicians that his supporters swear he’s so different from.

    • don February 26, 2016, 11:15 am

He is the lesser of two evils, but anything Is better than hillary. He does talk a good talk, but so did read my lips no new taxes.

    • Keith February 28, 2016, 7:52 am

Donald Trump has also admitted to past mass adultery escapades and bragged about it in one of his books he published. (The book is: Trump: The Art of the Comeback.) That is also a huge character flaw to me. If one will not be faithful to his wife how can I trust he will be faithful to the American people and what his word is?

You look at the fruits of Trump’s life and you see who he is. The abuse of illegal workers on his construction projects? Using the force of government to take a widow’s house? The sham bankruptcies that ruined small vendors? The casual slander of people who disagree with him?

You cannot be one kind of man and another kind of President. In the year 2000 Donald Trump supported banning magazines over ten rounds but now he does not. I trust him the least when compared to Cruz and Rubio.

  • Ed February 26, 2016, 10:25 am

To the question regarding Trump’s protection of our 2nd Amendment rights, I absolutely believe that YES he will. As for assault weapons, I have had one for many years, but whether I really need one that has always been a question in my mind. On that subject my major concern has always been is whether I am adequately protecting it from ever getting into the hands of a “crazy”. Therefore I can only conclude that since the scenario of my personal need is so unlikely, owning one probably adds an unintended risk to our society..

    • Chief February 26, 2016, 10:57 am

People please stop calling DEFENSE rifles “ASSAULT rifles” that’s the gun grabbers term for our black rifle of choice .Do you go out and assault people with your gun or is it for defense ?Lets not add one stick of wood to the fire of those trying to destroy our rights .

    • Captain Bob February 26, 2016, 12:44 pm

Ed: Where do you live? I mean what country do you live in? Can’t be the U.S. of A. since we are a free country and NEED for something has nothing to do with whether or not we can have it. Here in our free country we can have what we WANT, not what we NEED (Communism). If you don’t WANT your AR-15 sell it. Just don’t espouse that it has to be needed in order to have it. Many of us WANT AR’s (and .50 cal. rifles and 35 handguns and AK-47’s and….) and in this free country it’s our choice to have them if we want them and to not have them if we choose not to for whatever reasons.

      • Chief February 26, 2016, 5:19 pm

Bob :Thank you for finishing the point . I saw ASSAULT RIFLE and went off . I didn’t read the rest of his ridiculous post until now .

    • Keith February 28, 2016, 8:08 am

We need to ban semi-automatic weapons!

Semi-automatic means that each time you pull the trigger the action cycles and loads another round. This is the single most common type of gun, not just in America, but in the whole world. Almost all handguns are semi-automatic. The vast majority of weapons used for self-defense are semi-automatic, as are almost all the weapons used by police officers. It is the most common because it is normally the most effective.
Semi-automatic is usually best choice for defensive use. It is easier to use because you can do so one handed if necessary, and you are forced to manipulate your weapon less. If you believe that using a gun for self-defense is necessary, then you pretty much have to say that semi-auto is okay.
Banning semi-automatic basically means banning all guns.

      We should ban Assault Rifles!
      Define “assault rifle”…
      Uh…
Yeah. That’s the problem. The term assault rifle gets bandied around a lot. Politically, the term is a loaded nonsense one that was created back during the Clinton years. It was one of those tricks where you name legislation something catchy, like PATRIOT Act. (another law rammed through while emotions were high and nobody was thinking, go figure).

To gun experts, an assault rifle is a very specific type of weapon which originated (for the most part) in the 1940s. It is a magazine fed, select fire (meaning capable of full auto), intermediate cartridge (as in, actually not that powerful, but I’ll come back to that later) infantry weapon.

The thing is, real assault rifles in the United States have been heavily regulated since before they were invented. The thing that the media and politicians like to refer to as assault rifles is basically a catch all term for any gun which looks scary.

We should ban magazines over (insert number such as ten) number of shots!
I’ve seen this one pop up a lot. It sounds good to the ear and really satisfies that we’ve got to do something need. It sounds simple. Bad guys shoot a lot of people in a mass shooting. So if he has magazines that hold fewer rounds, ergo then he’ll not be able to shoot as many people.
      Wrong.

First off, why do gun owners want magazines that hold more rounds? Because sometimes you miss. Because usually—contrary to the movies—you have to hit an opponent multiple times in order to make them stop. Because sometimes you may have multiple assailants. We don’t have more rounds in the magazine so we can shoot more, we have more rounds in the magazine so we are forced to manipulate our gun less if we have to shoot more.

The last assault weapons ban capped capacities at ten rounds. You quickly realize ten rounds sucks when you take a wound ballistics class like I have and go over case after case after case after case of enraged, drug addled, prison hardened, perpetrators who soaked up five, seven, nine, even fifteen bullets and still walked under their own power to the ambulance. That isn’t uncommon at all. Legally, you can shoot them until they cease to be a threat, and keep in mind that what normally causes a person to stop is loss of blood pressure, so I used to tell my students that anybody worth shooting once was worth shooting five or seven times. You shoot them until they leave you alone.

Also, you’re going to miss. It is going to happen. If you can shoot pretty little groups at the range, those groups are going to expand dramatically under the stress and adrenalin. The more you train, the better you will do, but you can still may miss, or the bad guy may end up hiding behind something which your bullets don’t penetrate. Nobody has ever survived a gunfight and then said afterwards, “Darn, I wish I hadn’t brought all that extra ammo.” So having more rounds in the gun is a good thing for self-defense use.

Now tactically, let’s say a mass shooter is on a rampage in a school. Unless his brain has turned to mush and he’s a complete idiot, he’s not going to walk up right next to you while he reloads anyway. Unlike the Concealed Carry Weapon holder who gets attacked and has to defend himself in whatever crappy situation he finds himself in, the mass shooter is the aggressor. He’s picked the engagement range. They are cowards who are murdering running and hiding children, but don’t for a second make the mistake of thinking they are dumb. Many of these scumbags are actually very intelligent. They’re just broken and evil.

In the cases that I’m aware of where the shooter had guns that held fewer rounds they just positioned themselves back a bit while firing or they brought more guns, and simply switched guns and kept on shooting, and then reloaded before they moved to the next planned firing position. Unless you are a fumble fingered idiot, anybody who practices in front of a mirror a few dozen times can get to where they can insert a new magazine into a gun in a few seconds . . .

Finally, let’s look at the logistical ramifications of another magazine ban. The Assault Weapon Ban banned the production of all magazines over ten rounds except those marked for military or law enforcement use, and it was a felony to possess those.

Over the ten years of the ban, we never ran out. Not even close. Magazines are cheap and basic. Most of them are pieces of sheet metal with some wire. That’s it. Magazines are considered disposable so most gun people accumulate a ton of them. All it did was make magazines more expensive, ticked off law abiding citizens, and didn’t so much as inconvenience a single criminal.

Meanwhile, bad guys didn’t run out either . . . Ten years. No difference. Meanwhile, we had bad guys turning up all the time committing crimes, and guess what was marked on the magazines found in their guns? MILITARY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT USE ONLY. Because once again, if you’re already breaking a bunch of laws, they can only hang you once. Criminals simply don’t care.

Once the Assault Weapon Ban timed out, because every politician involved looked at the mess which had been passed in the heat of the moment, the fact it did nothing, and the fact that every single one of them from a red state would lose their job if they voted for a new one, it expired and went away. Immediately every single gun person in America went out and bought a couple guns which had been banned and a bucket of new magazines, because nothing makes an American want to do something more than telling them they can’t. We’ve been stocking up ever since. If the last ban did literally nothing at all over a decade, and since then we’ve purchased another hundred million magazines since then, another ban will do even less.

  • Ken February 26, 2016, 10:22 am

Yes, considering who the likely presidential alternative will be!

  • David Stjern February 26, 2016, 10:21 am

Trump is a shooter and a hunter. His older sons are shooters and hunters. He held a concealed carry permit. Yes, I trust Donald Trump to defend my Second Amendment rights.

More importantly, Trump can beat Hillary Clinton. I am not confident that Rubio can do that. I’m certain that Cruz cannot – many Republicans will stay home on Election Day if he is the nominee. Lastly, my wife, neighbors and I went to hear Donald Trump speak. His appearance broke the attendance record for our convention center. In the audience I saw a number of people I know to be Democrats cheering for Trump – I am convinced he will attract a number of Democrat or undecided voters, something I am certain the remaining Republican candidates will not.-

  • Ross Walters February 26, 2016, 10:15 am

Trump would need a compliant Congress and/or SCOTUS to eliminate your 2A gun rights. There are limits to the damage a President can make happen via Executive Order alone.
Trump will nominate a conservative judge who will help tilt the court in favor of gun owners. What kind of person would Hillary nominate?
Trump is most likely going to win the Republican nomination. So ask yourself…do you want to help Hillary get elected by withholding your vote from Trump (ie: ” I wouldn’t vote for Trump”) or will you cast your ballot for the guy who isn’t talking about taking away your guns?
Maybe you want to cut off your nose to spite your face but not me.

  • Bisley February 26, 2016, 10:15 am

Trump has been a liberal Democrat nearly all his life (and spent a great deal of money supporting liberal Democrats), and supported gun control and numerous other unsavory and unconstitutional policies. I rather doubt he’s had a complete conversion in the last couple years — he’s just another lying, lowlife politician who will say or do whatever he thinks is necessary to get elected (and if elected, will do as he pleases, not as he has promised).

  • Jondarmes February 26, 2016, 10:12 am

I like Trump, I’m unsure of where all this will end up, but after many years of voting I know that I will always be unsure because we have been lied to and screwed around so much by our so called leaders. I don’t trust any of them with any of my rights, my money, my country, my health, or anything else that isn’t nailed down. Rubio is pro illegal immigration and it’s the same old RNC crap, his record shows it, and this country can’t take any more of that. It is destroying the fabric of this nation. So he’s not a pulpit pounding Conservative Christian, so what. I’m uncertain how much that has to do with the survival of this nation. If the country doesn’t survive, the amendments, all of them, are squat. I do believe Trump will build the wall, I can see how he can make Mexico pay for it, and making them self deport is a piece of cake called E-VERIFY. He makes more sense than the rest of the pack on this subject and is a leader. He is the only one on the stage with real world experience, for the most part the closest any of the others have to it are the jobs they had as paper boy. I’ve had enough lying lawyers, lying politicians, and one term senators. I’m ready to give the businessman a try.

    GO TRUMP!!!

    • Austin Berens February 26, 2016, 12:22 pm

We should add to e-verify the requirement of Citizenship and then we can use e-verify for voting. “The 26th Amendment:
Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.
Section 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
One of the ‘rules’ for understanding the Constitution FOR the United States of America is that No word is unimportant or can be disreguarded and no words can be added.
So it says that in order to vote one needs to be a CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. PERIOD.

“Mr. Trump and we sure have our work cut out for us.”

  • Ted February 26, 2016, 10:11 am

OK, I’m going to take a different tact in explaining my support for Donald Trump.

First and foremost, I do not trust or like Rubio. #1 issue at this point is illegal aliens, period. You fear for your 2A rights? Well what good is it going to do if you have millions of illegals voting for the candidates that will take away your 2A rights? Let alone take away your jobs, make you pay for their health care and education, create a security danger to this country, and increase crime and become a danger to your family. Mr. Gang of Eight Rubio’s track record is clear, his treatment of ICE is clear, his actions speak louder than words.

Cruz, I could live with. I’ve always liked him. They don’t like him in the Senate because he calls it the way it is. I could live with a President Cruz. However, I do not think he has what it takes to appeal to enough voters to beat the Demoncrats. He doesn’t even garner enough Republican support at this point.

Now let’s talk about everything that Trump is being accused of. First, let’s acknowledge that he is narcissistic and egotistical. That’s a given. But I think there are two kinds of that ailment. One being the kind that has no regard for fellowmen and wants to destroy. That’s Obama. The other kind comes with being successful (what can Obama ever claim as a personal success?) and looking out for his self interests. That’s Trump. Do any of his thousands of employees complain about working for him? (You’ll always have some–that’s the human experience.) People like him. You don’t hear people saying they like Obama or are friends of his. Obama hates people and he hates this country.

SO HERE’S A TAKE ON HIS NARCISSISM: Do you really think that Trump would make any promise that he is not willing to give it 100% effort to make it happen? Do you think that he would renege on a promise and *damage his name brand and reputation?* Before you answer that question, answer this: Do you think that Trump will no longer own or do any business under his name after serving as POTUS? Of course, he will continue to do business! So therefore, why would he taint his business reputation (which is excellent) by backing off of any of his promises? In my opinion, there is no way–NO WAY–he will do that! Remember your (accurate) assessment that he is narcissistic? He would never do anything to damage his brand name. Think about it.

How is he going to have Mexico build the wall? Did you read his book? He already outlined it. You tell Mexico we are going to withhold a portion of the billions we give it in foreign aid until they pay for it. Or just take it out of their foreign aid account. Simple. I can’t remember where I read it–dang it!–but this happened in the 60s over another issue. The US threatened to withhold our foreign aid to them unless they cooperated. They shut up and cooperated. Quickly. This is so simple.

You want answers on his positions? Go to his website and read his position papers.

I think Trump has enough ego and narcissism to survive as a president, which our next president is going to need in this environment. Our next president is going to need futz-pah to battle the establishment Repugnantcans and Demoncrats to rid us of illegal aliens. That’s where the #1 battle is going to be for our 2A rights. If we do not rid our country of them, our country is truly lost. They will vote for the Demoncrats and RINOs that want your guns. You think Trump’s donation money to Dems was bad? That’s nothing compared to millions of illegitimate voters voting away your rights. NO ISSUE MATTERS if we do not have our nation’s sovereignty. Obamacare, abortion, Supreme Court nominations–take your pick. None of your pet issues matter if we have open borders. I believe that Trump’s the man.

  • Carlson Fielder February 26, 2016, 10:10 am

If you think Trump cares about America think again. He only cares about putting money in his and his friends pockets, and making deals that will benefit himself. He has not laid out a plan for any of the real issues facing America. In the debates last night 2/25/2016 he stated that he like planned parent hood, but wants to defund it. What?? How can you in the same sentence say you like something then say it is bad. He does it all the time, but folks are not really listening. People hear what they want to hear and discard the rest. Better listen up America Trump is telling us who he really is, nobody is listening. He flops on the issues constantly in the same day, interview, debate. Only way you can do that is if you really do not have a plan. If you were solid on your positions that does not happen.

He is all one liners. Make America Great, build a wall, This person and this person likes me, my poll numbers are fantastic, and insults anyone that says anything he does not agree with. Anytime anyone challenges him on his record he has nothing to say but insults to the person. I don’t know where you are from, but if you get into a debate with someone and you do nothing but insult the person and call them names you lose. For whatever reason people are buying it. I guess because most people do not use their heads and want to be sheep.

    • Ted February 26, 2016, 10:33 am

And you are guilty of the very thing that you accuse us “sheep” of being–only heeding one liner sound bites. Guess what? That’s called marketing and you can despise marketing all you want but it is a reality in life, and just not in politics. You should do research past his brilliant one liner marketing slogans and read his positions. Go to his website and read his position papers. Read his book where years ago he outlined how he’s going to make Mexico pay for the wall. And you exaggerate, he does not flop on the issues constantly on the “same day, interview, debate.” He’s very consistent on his position on things. As a matter of fact, that’s one reason why he’s successful in this election, he constantly repeats over and over his positions. Many of us are not “sheep”–we have researched and thought this through.

      • Carlson Fielder February 26, 2016, 2:07 pm

Sounds like the sheep took the bait.
Saying the same one liners over and over again is not a position it is psychology. If you say something over and over again in a convincing way people will interpret it as the truth and a plan even when it is not.
As far as the flopping you can watch the debate yourself and listen to him do it. It is when he is talking about planned parent hood. He says that they do great things for women, but he is going to defund it. I do not have to say any more, watch it for yourself.
When asked to state his position he never does, just the one liners. You should change your statement to “he constantly repeats over and over his ONE LINERS”. Sorry to tell you one liners are not a position and not enough for the American people to vet a presidential candidate. Presidential candidates need to be able to communicate their ideas to people in debate type forums, if they can’t what is the use in having debates. Rubio pressed him many times on his positions and he relented.
I understand that this is probably wasted on you because you seem to be blinded by Trumps tactics, and again not real presidential positions to real issues effecting Americans today.

    • Chief February 26, 2016, 11:01 am

      Well said.

  • Lloyd February 26, 2016, 10:05 am

No, I don’t trust Trump, he more than likely is a demoncrat spoiler to get hillarity(86 the b) elected.

  • James Tibbetts February 26, 2016, 10:04 am

I would prefer to see someone like Cruz get the nomination as he has a proven record on 2nd amendment protection in Texas. That being said, it looks like in the national election it may be Trump against Clinton and Trump will get my vote as a better choice than Clinton.

  • Ben Hines February 26, 2016, 10:04 am

    No!
No one can become or continue to be a real estate mogul in NY without being in bed with organized crime. The man (using the term loosely) has no moral/ethical compass and respects nothing but the next million!

  • Bill February 26, 2016, 10:00 am

No I DO NOT TRUST HIM !! He is too quick to make outlandish statements… Like he knows he wont be helt accountable for them. He is simply pandering to ALL the people.. but in a more guarded way than the Democrats.. At least you Know the Democrats are PANDERING…

  • rjder February 26, 2016, 9:59 am

It’s a shame that the candidates that are running in front of the pack right now, can’t be trusted any further than they can be thrown. All we can do is HOPE and PRAY that the Lord above reveals the true stances of these snakes in the grass, and that the People of the United States wise up to their lies. If it comes down to (Trump and Clinton) making it all the way, I guess we will have to pick one of the lesser of the two evils.

  • Mike February 26, 2016, 9:50 am

If you really believe Trump’s story of being an Ex-Libtard. Check out who he supported just recently in the Virgina Governor Election. That’s right, Gun Grabber Demonut Terry McAuliffe. Already trying to change the concealed carry laws in that state.
Trump was fined $1 million for using foreign labor. Check out the facts. Trump University being sued for fraud this very minute.
Only one candidate has fought against illegal immigration. Trump is only saying what we want to hear! He will not do what he says.

  • Bill February 26, 2016, 9:47 am

Cruz fought and won in court for 2nd amendment rights
We have one true conservative with a proven track record
    Donald likes deals
    Kickbacks favors
    Do not trust him

  • Tommy February 26, 2016, 9:46 am

I want someone who isn’t wishy-washy. Trump isn’t filling that niche for me.
I want someone who is respectful for things I respect. Trump isn’t filling that niche for me.
As a post I saw yesterday said “Give me someone that I would feel my daughter is safe with”.

  • wildbill55 February 26, 2016, 9:39 am

What i’m reading hear is exactly the problem in this country. What do you think Clinton,Cruz, Saunders and all the rest of politicans do,they make deals with money men and the banks and special interest for funding to get elected and by the time they get to the white house they have sold their soul to the devil and owe favors that they have to repay. They could care less about the average american ,and yet every 4 yrs people buy the same old bulls–t.If Trump makes millions as president i could care less as long as the rest of the country prospers .Any gun owner that votes commiecrat will have no one to blame when they lose their guns but themselves.Go ahead and vote for Hillary ,but when they are carrying your s–t out the door keep your whinning 2 yourselves, you,ll be getting just what you voted for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wade February 26, 2016, 9:35 am

There are a lot of sheep posting on this issue. Pull your heads out and make sure Hillary isn’t our next president.

  • Ken February 26, 2016, 9:27 am

People let me ask you this >
Do any of you think that if elected Trump would stay in the White House for 4 years ?
I give him a month at most.

I’ll not waste my vote on someone that “has all the answers” to our problems but has never said how he would fix those problems.
To make 1 point , He says that Mexico will pay for “The Wall”. Ok how will he make them do that , kidnap the Mexican President’s family and tell him to pay for the wall or else … ?

He keeps harping about China stealing American jobs while at the same time having his products made off shore. HYPOCRITE ! (don’t do as I do but do as I say) That doesn’t work with me. Lead by example !!
What has driven jobs out of this country is the outlandish unions. They have priced themselves out of a job.

    • Ted February 26, 2016, 9:44 am

Would you please elaborate on why you think he would leave the presidency in a month? Haven’t heard that one before. What, just resign? And why?

      Re: Building the wall.
Have you read his book? He outlines it. He says to get Mexico to pay for the wall he will propose withdrawing a portion of their foreign aid until they build it. Simple. This happened before in the 60s and just the mere threat of withdrawing their foreign aid on some issue (I can’t remember what) had them cooperating in record time.

As far as other issues, go to his website and read his position papers. He has answers there.

    • Mark Davis February 26, 2016, 9:49 am

Bobthexolotl, You haven’t got a clue. Who’s crap have you been listening to? If you want to see how Trump is going to do the things he’s said. Then go to his web site! It’s written in plane English.! So quit trying to spread misinformation! Trump is far better than a liar Rubio and the liar and cheater Cruz!
No politician has ever made America better. They have done just the opposite! They will continue to act that way because they, unlike Trump have been bought and paid for. They do not work for the people! They work for their backers and themselves! Nothing more!

    • Rick Di Nardo February 26, 2016, 9:59 am

Ken… The solution to having the Wall paid for by the Mexican people is so simple that I could do it. Levy a tax on every money transfer leaving the US and going back to Mexico.

    • mike February 26, 2016, 10:20 am

I get a little tired of people laying all the blame on Labor unions. When Supermgmt. decided to pay themselves millions they screen the top 20% of all the cream and in turn convinced stockholders it was better to take manufacturing overseas you can’t blame labor. If it hadn’t been for labor we would never have had healthcare, retirement or other benefits.Look at what Supermgmt has done the last 10 yrs.they are taking all those benefits, not one of Supermgmt has taken a cut in anything.Labor Mgmt. got greedy just as Supermgmt did ….as did our politicians.I think you can spread the blame pretty evenly on everyone but the people trying to just make a living.IT IS TIME WE TOOK OUR COUNTRY BACK!!!!!!!!!!

  • bobtheaxolotl February 26, 2016, 9:27 am

I wouldn’t trust him to be able to be to use a butter knife. The man is a slobberingly incompetent moron of the wort ilk. His policies are made of pixie farts and wishful thinking, his debating skills are that of an angry toddler, and his hair looks like they dip him in a cotton candy machine each morning. The last one is not strictly relevant, but you have to question the decision making abilities of someone who chose to do THAT to his head.

“But he’s a successful businessman” some would protest. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t support this view. If he’d invested his money in low-yield mutual funds, he’d be richer than he is today. He’s in fact only rich because he inherited wealth, and his business ventures have in fact lost more of his money than they’ve made.

Or, I guess, we could pick Cruz, the most hated member of congress. He in fact has fewer congressional endorsements than Bernie F’ing Sanders, who’s running calling himself a socialist. The surest way to get Clinton elected would be for the republicans to nominate this loser.

What the hell is going on? Where are the candidates that aren’t crazy, moronic, or unelectable? The GOP needs to get its sh*t together post haste.

    • Carlson Fielder February 26, 2016, 10:16 am

      I agree 100%

Except for the hair thing, its America you can look as silly as you want to look at any time.

    • Tim February 26, 2016, 4:16 pm

Don’t get me wrong I’m going to vote for him, if he makes it through the primary, for a lot of reasons. With that said I can’t help but wonder if he is intending to push voters from the gop to the democrats. If this is all a rouse. Donald is in the top 1% after all.

  • Tim February 26, 2016, 9:24 am

I am not going to argue who the “best” candidate is. I would like to see Trump get elected just to stir things up. Do I trust him? No. Ideally I would like to see a third party get in office but I do not see that happening any time soon. You have to remember that both Regan and Bush have supported gun control. So neither side has our best interest in mind. Maybe some day we will have an election without a Clinton or Bush.

  • Michael Garrison February 26, 2016, 9:21 am

I don’t trust any narcissist with an ego the size of the Milky Way. He will be worse than a RINO. He has said he will be willing to cross the aisle to work with the Democrats. We already have that in Ryan and McConnell.

    • Ken February 26, 2016, 9:30 am

      McConnell sold out.

  • David G February 26, 2016, 9:18 am

I said Obama would be a bad President and I say Trump would be a bad President. We knew who Obama was when he was running for President – he had a record, Liberal. We know who Trump is as he runs for President – he has a record, Liberal. Obama promised he wouldn’t take our guns, wouldn’t do this, and made all these promises. He broke them all. Trump is making all these promises. I know some of them he can’t keep and I’m not so sure he’ll keep others. Americans are scared, we are tired of the Republicans not fighting against Obama and the Democrats. So, we are listening to the siren call of Trump only to later be crashed against the rocks of his lies. Trump is a stealth Democrat. If he comes out losing in the Republican primary, he will run as an Independent and throw the election to the Democrats. He acts like a child, as a bully on a playground. But, Americans are supporting him because of all of his “BIG” promises – and that is all they are – just promises. But look at his past behavior and beliefs – all of them. Look at his consistency. Americans are making a very, very big mistake. And I don’t trust him to appoint the next 3 or 4 Supreme Court Justices because that will be crucial to our Constitutional rights and will be with us for many, many years. Cruz has always stood for the Constitution.

    • igotguns February 26, 2016, 9:30 am

And you think Cruz and Rubio wont de the same? they aren’t lying through their teeth? they aren’t going to get elected and then continue to tow the party line and just be more do nothing, empty suits like the rest of them? At least Trump is saying what we want to hear, and even if he doesn’t do 3/4 of the things he is saying he will, it will still be 100% more than the others will do for us! I have to vote for the person who isn’t just another Party talking head. this time its about sending a meggage to both parties… S*** or get off the pot. no more voting the party line, we are sick and tired of people who just run because the party wants them too, not because they want to!

    • Mike February 26, 2016, 9:31 am

Amen Brother. As a combat vet who has bled for this country, I totally agree. Cruz is our only hope.

    • Chief February 26, 2016, 11:46 am

      Amen

  • Gem Gram February 26, 2016, 9:15 am

NO! I do not trust Trump with the 2nd Amendment. In fact I do not trust the “Rump” with anything but his own interests. I actually supported him when this started. But quickly realized that this man reminds me of listening to a 1930’s speech where “Jew” has been replaced with “Mexican” and “Making Germany great again” has been replaced with “Make America great again”. Scary as hell. We all know how that worked out. Not even that lying woman running as a Democrat is more untrustworthy than the “Rump”. At least she does not lie about how she will try to screw the American people and the Constitution.

Trump is nothing more than a CON-MAN who will say anything to get elected and anything to advance the interests of Trump. The first thing any Con Man says is “Trust ME”. The last thing a Con says is “Trust ME!”. The first thing my old Papa taught me about the life on the “roads” was to NEVER, EVER trust anyone who keeps saying “Trust Me”.

I am a “Service Connected Disabled Veteran” who once joined others and swore a sacred oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies whether domestic or foreign. I am afraid the “Rump” would end up being an enemy of the Constitution if it got in his way. The 2nd Amendment is the last means for a defense of that sacred oath we made. We really can NOT trust a Con Man., it is as simple as that.

    • DR February 26, 2016, 1:41 pm

Thank you! To quote those more eloquent than myself,

“People will not look forward to posterity, who never look backward to their ancestors.”
      Edmund Burke (1729-1797)

      or more recently,

“Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

  • Randy February 26, 2016, 9:13 am

Let’s all be honest, for the last several elections we have been lied to, and sold down the river by every politician . The corruption in Washington is at an all time high, So to me it’s a clear choice “I will vote for Trump” . It’s true he has friends on both sides but truely isn’t that what we need is someone who can get things done, they all owe him. I will pray he stands with the second amendment with the people of this once great Nation , and hopefully live to see it great again.

  • Fro February 26, 2016, 9:12 am

Trump is now a ‘politcian’, to me this means that I cannot believe everything that he says. He might be saying what a majority of Americans really want to hear. Then to change his mind after elected. His history is a plethora of flying into whichever wind could possibly make HIM a profit. Sounding good, I still don’t trust him.

  • Robert Purser February 26, 2016, 9:02 am

What choice do we really have when voting for the President? Donald Trump at least is saying that he supports our
gun rights. What does the Hilldabeast say? She doesn’t miss a chance to bash guns and gun owners and take victims of
gun violence and put them in front of a camera. We know for a fact what she stands for just as Mobama did.

    • Gordon February 26, 2016, 9:10 am

      He is an A$$ Clown

      • Ted February 26, 2016, 9:27 am

Gee, that was a highly intelligent and mature contribution to the discussion.

        • Gordon February 26, 2016, 9:58 am

Yeah like this is real high browser stuff……oh yeah….the kind of response trump would give

  • inspector February 26, 2016, 8:57 am

Immigration IS INDEED THE GORILLIA IN THE ROOM (RACE) – that is second to guns rights as a threat to the existence of this country. Trumps’ detractors (whiners) had better get it through their thick skulls>

  • Jeff February 26, 2016, 8:53 am

I worry more about your stance then Trumps. Why? Because anybody that thinks Trump is a OK guy in any sense is an idiot at best and unmentionable here at worst. He is worse then any other politician liberal or conservative, they are all crooks but he has taken YOUR tax dollars to his cleaners 4 times in the past, that alone disqualifies him from ever holding a public office in my book. I would vote for Diane Feinstein 100 times before I would vote for him or any other republican candidate presented this round and a 1000 times before I would vote for Trump. Trump vs Hillary, Hillary will have my vote,

    • Ed Elder February 26, 2016, 9:01 am

      Good luck. You’ll need it because you’re beyond help . . .

      • Dave Mailloux February 26, 2016, 9:24 am

This guy deserves to be stuck with Benedict Arnold’s ancestor Hillary. After a year or two with her
        we’ll all be doomed!

    • BJG February 26, 2016, 9:18 am

Turn in your guns traitor, (if you own any.) You don’t deserve to own any, You must be one of those hobby owners. Any gun owner who votes democratic especially Hillary is a traitor not only to gun owner ship but to America.

    • Alan February 26, 2016, 9:27 am

So, you’re in the category of cutting off your nose to spite your face, and YOU call others idiots?!?!?!?!?
Look critically at your post, that is the MOST convoluted and idiotic ‘reasoning’ of all time.
Either you’re a troll, or a monstrous fool.
You compare Hillary and Trump in that light, without regard to her lying over Benghazi, Whitewater and numerous other incidents of illegal use of office and threats to citizens?!?!?
Jeff, pull your head out of your nether regions and get a grip, and a clue.
I have never read such a post by such a monumental fool as you.
      Congrats!

    • rjder February 26, 2016, 9:39 am

Talk about a radical liberal. Why in the world are you even on a site that supports guns?

    • Chief February 26, 2016, 12:03 pm

Jeff, this is a gun forum I think you made a wrong turn heading for the Democrat Socialist Anti America We’re gonna lose in November forum .Buh bye.

  • Karl tanner February 26, 2016, 8:52 am

I believe the point many miss is that the president is not in charge of the people, the people are in charge of the president. If today’s citizen took a stand on issues, voted, wrote letters and showed the politician who’s in charge we would retake this nation. Instead of the minority ruling thru threats of reprisal it would be the majority ruling by the power of the majority. Elect a candidate that does not make America solcialist, communist or a business and we all win. Make you voice heard louder than the minority and gain your rights back.

  • Infidel7.62 February 26, 2016, 8:48 am

I don\’t trust any NY \”ex\”-dumbocrat who is best friends with the Clintons, supported Obutthole\’s campaign, and thinks Obuttholecare is great and should be expanded. He is nothing but a snake oil salesman telling people what they want to hear.

I’ll vote for the devil I don’t know as opposed to the devil I DO KNOW — aka Hillary Rotten Clinton!

  • Jay February 26, 2016, 8:43 am

Trump has swayed back and forth on almost every issue under the sun! He can claim that he did it for business reasons or what ever he wants but the bottom line, what makes anyone think that he will not continue to do the same, it’s who he is! Trump is a silver spoon feed punk, who lets his money do the talking, always has and always will, he is a narcissist in every sense of the word, his wealth has put him in a walled city and he can not relate to any normal person. He his just a mouth spewing what he has been told to get votes, that’s it! All he does when things don’t go his way or someone says something about him is spew ugly child like temper tantrums which is nothing more than narcissist behavior! Trump cant be trusted at all and if you play with him and things don’t go his way he will take his toys and go home! He has already proved it time and time again even saying if the GOP doesn’t treat him right, meaning if they don’t treat him the way he wants to be treated, he will run as an independent even though he signed papers saying he wouldn’t! Trusting trump is like trusting that a rattle snake won’t bit you because you raised it!

    • Frank February 26, 2016, 9:01 am

And just think, if he becomes president, he will have presidential immunity to conduct corrupt business practices to his liking. He will screw the average American and take their money. You are right he is a narcissistic child of a man. He will turn America into his playground of corruption and greed for him and his cronies.

  • Bob February 26, 2016, 8:42 am

Mr. Trump is a true gentleman,i have seen hum speak at the anti safe act rally in Albany. He is a little boisterous ,but i believe he is a supporter of gun rights he also has a concealed carry in New York, that says something. He is the only choice.we cannot continue with the career politicians ,that force there views on us.Have a blessed day.

  • Wayne Palmer February 26, 2016, 8:38 am

I support Trump 100%. I think he has matured and understand principles over political correctness. He will protect American’s right to protect themselves.

  • Austin Fox February 26, 2016, 8:35 am

I don’t trust anyone who keeps repeating “Trust me” over and over at every opportunity.

  • Ian February 26, 2016, 8:34 am

Absolutely not. His track record of flipping his position to suit the moment, his disgraceful handling of veterans charities, and the fact he has outright fascist organizatios like neo-Nazis supporting him make me trust him even less than the traditional politicians who at least will show the NRA so respect. We fought two world wars against fascists, we shouldn’t be so scared we elect one.

  • Josh February 26, 2016, 8:30 am

I believe Trump is making fools of us all. He has made it his whole life by saying WHAT NEEDED TO BE SAID but doing WHAT BENEFITTED HIM. Do I agree with what he is saying 90% yes . Do I trust him…. HELL NO. Trump reminds me of how college boys act in a bar trying to pick up women. Anything that sounds good to the audience will flow out of their mouths. We need to make sure we all are prepping and have ammunition and food stores because the circus will only get worse. If you had a more stable person saying these things I would feel more comfortable however the issue is the political contributions that force the current politicians to constantly be stuck as slaves to public opinion and the middle and Trump has proven this is true with his donations . A donation equals a bought leader. Trump is bought also…. by whatever makes him the most money as most of us are.

  • Bob February 26, 2016, 8:28 am

    Gentilmen,
I have seen mister Trump speak,at the anti safe act rally in New York.He is not beholding to anyone.Your second amendment rights, are protected and important to him.when you listen to him in person,he is a little boisterous ,but a true ,gentleman. He is the only person running ,that is not part of the career politicians .He is the only choice ,as far as i am concerned.Have a blessed day.

  • Francis Miller February 26, 2016, 8:28 am

I would have to say Trump has said many things that our great Country needs help with. The Big one is people invading our Nation who is stealing USA blind must stop now what ever it takes. Trump has no hesitation when asked how he will deal with it. Trump says he has no issues against gun owners of any sort of gun of choice. I have to think he straight up on that.. Trump made the statement he would work for America free and donate his ability since he can not be bought with need of financial power. Last is Trump statement made on the Financial end of our Nation he would level the playing field with China and be very careful about it as China could hurt USA in the financial arena. There is no other Candidate that has made the bold statements Trump has made or possess the financial strength to step up to fix our great Country in the areas in need. Our first President put forth all the financial power he had to start this great Country along with Franklin who had the financial strength and wisdom to back it. I vote Trump and if he screws us it cannot hurt us as bad as the others we have to choose from that we have proof they will indeed screw us!

  • Dave February 26, 2016, 8:27 am

I’m not sure I can trust Trump on the 2A. But I am sure I don’t trust anyone else in either party – except Dr. Carson whom I doubt will be the nominee.

And while Cruz may have a better record defending gun rights, he’ll try to make his version of religion into OUR laws. Pharisee! When the American Taliban gets to DC is when we’ll all need those gun rights.

  • John February 26, 2016, 8:24 am

Sadly, and unsurprisingly, he is like every other politician and presidential candidate before him: interested in himself only, willing to say and do anything for your vote, and swings whichever way the popular wind is blowing at the time. I expect nothing but the same dissapointment, corruption and self-serving elitism from him as I would from Hillary (who will most likely get the Democratic nomination).

  • CLYDE SAWYER February 26, 2016, 8:23 am

I trust TRUMP I dont think he would sell us out

  • Al T February 26, 2016, 8:20 am

What are our choices? Marco Rubio – one of the worst attendance records in recent history it’s like the guy has his mind on something else, certainly not our interests. Ted Cruz – there’s good reason why none of his co-workers (Senators and Congressmen) like him – think they’re going to like him as President, or want to work with him on anything? The Donald – has only been a businessman, working for his own interests, with a long history of opportunism – when do our interests and needs get considered? I agree with other posters – the Donald will sell 2A interests down the creek if and when it suits him. Vote for him and watch our USA regress.

  • Mike Art February 26, 2016, 8:17 am

I love to watch Trump tear up the establishment. Last nights debate on Commie News Network (CNN) brought many laughs. I would never trust Trump to run our Country or protect our 2A rights or the Constitution. Many voters are voting Trump to show their disgust for the establishment.Thank you! But! I hope they come to their senses quick enough to make Cruz the nominee. I think he is the best of the bunch and will protect our rights and also put the right people in the SCOTUS. There could be easily 3 judges appointed by the next President. I can’t trust Trump to pick 1, let alone up to 3, nor my 2A rights. Vote for Cruz before it’s too late.

  • JDarby February 26, 2016, 8:12 am

In 43 years of voting, I have always voted three issues, my litmus test. Stay out of my wallet, my bedroom and my gun safe. There is only one who passes the test – Ted Cruz. If we have no choice, then vote anti-Hillary/Sanders.

    • Frederick February 26, 2016, 10:10 am

If we are given no real choice THEN DON’T VOTE!
I foresee a future in which we have two or more governments… One in DC looking after itself and one or more FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE…

  • Chad J. February 26, 2016, 8:08 am

No. I don’t trust T – Rump. I also don’t trust Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, but I may have to hold my nose and vote for T – Rump if people continue to mindlessly fall for his line of bull. It’s one thing to agree with some of the stuff being said by some drunk in a bar during a heated game between two teams in the Superbowl and quite another to vote for the loudmouth.

    • Pjsowe February 26, 2016, 8:18 am

I trust Trump more than any other candidate. He holds a CCW permit. His platform includes a national CCW permit policy with resiprosity between all states by federal law.

  • Mike E February 26, 2016, 7:57 am

I feel that Donald Trump would do a good job representing the people of the United States. You don’t have to a senator or governor to run this great country,we have seen the failures in the past from these people.Mr.Trump is for the military, others are not! This country requires a great military to keep the wolves at bay.Others running for this office should already be brought up on charges and in jail, but instead are hiding behind others.Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and this one is mine!

    • Natalie Dominguez February 26, 2016, 8:41 am

Trump is most certainly NOT for the military. The politicians that have targeted our military for years, were all very heavily supported by none other than Donald Trump. You can let him off the hook when he says he just gives money because one day he’ll need their support to make a deal and they’ll owe him. His financial support helped get or keep them in office, allowing them to pass harmful legislation. And his financial support to republicans is almost non existent, compared to what he has given hard left candidates. So need to admit to yourself that if you vote for Trump you are supporting a person that has for the last 40 years done much harm to our troops through his financial and public support of Clintons, Reid, Obama, Kerry, etc.

      • Ted February 26, 2016, 9:36 am

Yeah, but who was in power in the House and Senate for a majority of those years? Democrats. Who ran New York City? Democrats. So if you are a businessman, who are you going to donate to in order to get favors? Who could do your business MORE HARM during those years? That’s right, the Demoncrats. That’s business. And business says you are going to chum it up with everyone. What you are accusing Trump of is indirect support but you are calling it direct support. You are saying because he gave them money, it harmed veterans, etc. That is an indirect corollary, not a direct one.

  • Tom February 26, 2016, 7:57 am

I wouldn’t believe Trump if he told me what time it was.
He is pro gun now because he is running for president.
A person that answers hard questions by ridiculing the person who asked the question can not be trusted.

    • Ted February 26, 2016, 10:17 am

Dude–do you know how to post a comment? I only ask because you said this THREE TIMES already. Shouldn’t be that difficult.

  • Tom February 26, 2016, 7:56 am

I wouldn’t believe Trump if he told me what time it was.
He is pro gun now because he is running for president.
A person that answers hard questions by ridiculing the person who asked the question can not be trusted.

  • Tom February 26, 2016, 7:45 am

I wouldn’t trust Trump to tell me what time it was.
He is pro gun now because he is running for president.

  • RichardWardAnderson February 26, 2016, 7:44 am

The only issue in this election is IMMIGRATION and Trump is the only candidate who truly wants to stop it. If we keep flooding out country with aliens who come from places that never have had the right to keep and bear arms and are guaranteed to be Democrat-Socialist voters our 2nd amendment rights will soon be gone. Trump for President.

    • Ahmet February 26, 2016, 9:54 am

If you vote for Trump, you vote against your ancestors who immigrated to the US running away from their oppressive, poorly governed countries. You vote against freedom of speech, you vote against freedom of faith. Voting for an arrogant bully and expecting him to do any good is like cutting your arteries and expecting to lead a long life. Read some history, pick history of US, it’s a great example. Also, the Constitution has more to it than 2nd Amendment. Read and you’ll figure out who George Washington and Co. were fighting against. The bankers, the warmongers, and Donald Trump. First two has taken over America and the world, all we need here is a dictator to bring an end to this empire. Pick one of the other useless candidates, anyone but Trump would do.

      • Ted February 26, 2016, 10:19 am

You make a lot of hot air, but you do not back it up. How is Trump against my ancestors who came here legally? How is Trump against freedom of speech? How is he against my religion? I appreciate that you love the Constitution, but if you are going to make accusations that ring hollow, you need to back it up.

        • Ahmet February 26, 2016, 11:21 pm

If a presidential candidate can arrogantly shush other presidential candidates because they are talking about his dirty secrets, you know what he will do once he gains power. There goes the freedom of speech. It already happened in the country I was born. High ranking military officials and best journalists are rotting in prisons with no valid reason, and no trial date. I foresaw what was coming, and relocated to the US to get away from the brewing danger. Trump’s comments on muslims are completely against the freedom of faith. Just because he is not pointing you does not make him right. Only arrogant and exceedingly ignorant people paint certain peoples with a single brush. You can’t get to the Truth unless you put yourself in the shoes of others. What if your ancestors were muslims? You’d be worried about your liberty now. Think rationally.

  • Mark February 26, 2016, 7:37 am

Counterpoint : Trump is a deal maker & a weasel who will say whatever it takes to make a buck, or get elected. After the next mass shooting, he’ll roll over on gun rights “for the children”. I firmly believe that the only thing that prevented awb 2.0 was having Obama in office. (Our “republican” congress critters only opposed it because of Obama). So, I’m voting Saunders. The party of obstructionism & “no” will gridlock everything he does & nothing will change, just like with Obama. Gridlock in this context is winning. Hopefully both parties choke on their special interest money in the meantime.

    • Frank February 26, 2016, 8:39 am

I wholeheartedly agree with you. He will buy up stock in ammunition companies and gun manufacturers using a shell corporation and then do some executive order to put the people in a gun buying panic. He is out for only one thing, money! He is a brat that wants to get his way and I am sure that with his attitude he will cause WW III or something similar. I think he is only going to make America the most hated country in the world more than it is now. He will alienate all our allies and weaken us in the long run. Trump knows business, he doesn’t know foreign policy and if you apply one to the other you will find very quickly it does not work.

  • Michael Schimanski February 26, 2016, 7:36 am

I beleave Donald Trump loves America and our constitution and do not think he would do anything against or to change the constitution . The Constitution and The Declaration of Independence along with the Bill of Rights is what has made The Unitrd States of America ( and I love saying that , the United States of America ) the greatest country this world has ever and will ever see . That being said I DO trust the Don with the Constitution and the 2nd amendment of , the greatest nation in the world . So Donald Trump has my vote and I beleave he will be one of , if not the best president of modern times . And for sure , what this country needs to save it at this time in history from all the damage obama and the democrats and some republicans have done to it . God bless Donald Trump and God bless THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA .

    • Frank February 26, 2016, 8:44 am

He may love America but he loves one thing even more, Money! He has been known to do anything for money and power. This is a power grab to align himself with corporations that will damage the average person and wipe out the middle class completely. In any of his rhetoric, he has never really mentioned the average citizen. He is like a magician distracting you with a good looking assistant while his other hand gives you the finger. I don’t think I have ever heard of a candidate so full of himself.

  • Greg February 26, 2016, 7:28 am

There is only one candidate that has defended 2nd Amendment before the SCOTUS, Ted Cruz. And he has supported, defended, many other issues. When it comes to 2A, I trust Ted Cruz. As for the rest of them, esp Trump, no trust in him, he was a liberal before he became a Republican (not conservative). I vote no on Trump regarding 2A.

    • Infidel February 26, 2016, 7:47 am

ok GREG : I suppose u voted for our communists Obama – maybe u should have looked into his pass B-4 downing Trump a real US citizen not a phony . Obama- Barry Santoreo can’t vote under obama , he never changed his legal name so that makes him a FRAUD and everything that goes with a fraud. Remember u voted for him and your cronies. and now look at our country we will be invaded by ISIS so get ready for some more of LIARS in the White House and Cruz and Rubio are all in on it, so to answer the Question I WILL ALWAYS GIVE A TRUE AMERICAN MY VOTE GOES TO MR TRUMP ……

    • Rob February 26, 2016, 8:39 am

Trump can’t be trusted except for the fact that he’ll cut s deal with anyone to get what HE wants. Cruz is the Constitutionist, he supports the ideas of our founding fathers including the 2A without fault.

  • Roger D. Franco Sr. February 26, 2016, 7:26 am

I voted for Trump in the New Hampshire primary without fully being able to sort through the showmanship or the sincerity. My reason was to send a message to the rest of the contenders, that like the vast majority of us, we are tired of business as usual, whether or not he gets the nomination.
I am not certain whether or not he can be trusted with the future of this great country. But I an definitely certain that any socialist, especially Hillary, cannot. I’m not too concerned with his obvious grandstanding or egocentric personality. That’s what we have the checks and balances of the congress for. If he decides to make a third party run, I will not make the same mistake that I made with Ross Perot. I will not help to split the vote and get another Clinton for my ineptness. Sometimes voting your conscience is not practical. I am 70 years old and have had to vote the lesser of two evils too many times. Lets just pray if he gets in that we have not been misled.

    • Frank February 26, 2016, 8:50 am

Very good post sir! I agree it is showmanship. I also think he is only after one thing the title of POTUS. He wants the power. A man with a desire for power like this cannot be trusted.

Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Lord Acton

He appears to be so easily corruptible. His love of money and power is so strong that he will do anything for it.

    • Mike Seagle February 26, 2016, 10:09 am

      Wisdom speaks Very good post.
I’m Voting for what he said he will support. I want my guns. I want a wall 10 feet higher. I want illegals deported.
I don’t expect he has the expertise to fix all the complex problems we face but hope he will appoint a cabinet and listen to advisers that have valid solutions to the problems. I hope he will select Ben Carson as VP and appoint him to fix the medical issues and get advice from Ted Cruz on who to pick for next Supreme court Judge.

  • Patrick Henry February 26, 2016, 7:25 am

It is relatively simple. We really have to depend on a guy that is ego driven. Ego and self accomplishment is our guarantee. He wants to accomplish what he touts. He does not have a record of failure, only of business. There is not another candidate that comes close in all the dilemma’s our country is facing. He is not dependent on donors but that means he is not dependent on the NRA, nor Bloomberg. I say we give him a shot. As for what he did 15 years ago, that is old news. I was anti hunting back when I was reading Bambi.

    • Ted February 26, 2016, 10:21 am

Yep, I agree 100%. (See my post on why.)

  • Richard Martinson February 26, 2016, 7:21 am

Trump is the only Man running that can be trusted. He is not holding to anyone. Not like the rest of them that are in the hands of the lobbist.. He will truely make American Great Again….

  • Mark Tercsak February 26, 2016, 7:20 am

The fact is we do not really know these people, we know of them and all we receive is sound bites, having said that , I think the founders of this Republic sset up a government by design , that trusts no one individual , and no one group. Ronald W. Reagan used to say Trust but verify.

The last three days I have been listening to the Mark Lavin show on the way home and he has been starting the show taking Marco Rubio apart piece by piece, Rubio sought him out when he was holding state office and was going to run for United States Senate, Rubio was running against Christ.

Rubio told Lavin he was for enforcing the Immigration Laws, and for strengthening of those same laws as well, and took a number of conservative positions, Look at Rubios work record in the United States Senate, if this man worked for anyone of you in the private sector he would have been fired, He does not show up to work, Rubio then lied to Lavin and those who voted for him for the United States Senate Seat. He did a 180 on Immigration Policy and New Laws, he sat down with Law-Enforcement and lied to their faces promissing stronger border security, than went out and pushed a bill and backed a bill that did the exact opposite. Rubios record as Senator speaks for its self, so the question who do I trust More Rubio or Trump, I will have to say Trump at this point.

  • Nate February 26, 2016, 7:03 am

I recall hearing in an interview recently Trump said he IS a gun owner. I can’t cite the when and where, but it rang a bell with me. I expect that’s one he’ll stand by for sure

  • christhefur gvozd February 26, 2016, 7:03 am

I vote yes! The media is trying to discredit a good man!

  • Chris Baker February 26, 2016, 6:57 am

“his past donations were a function of his business agenda — not a function of his personal politics”
These are not separable. They both are functions of his lack of moral and character. You cannot separate them. Either you are an honest business man and person or you aren’t. He isn’t. Don’t take my word for it, check yourself.
I’m sure that everyone on this site would like to have a president who understands the constitution and the rights is enumerates such as the right to keep and bear arms. Notice I did not say “grants”. It lists them, some of them. Ted Cruz has won 9 cases before the supreme court in favor of the rights of us, the citizens, when he was the attorney general of Texas.
Given his record, I’d love to see him as a supreme court justice.
(Hah, compared to who BO has appointed and the congress has consented to, I’d be a better justice. I’d hate having to move to Washington DC though.)

  • Ronald February 26, 2016, 6:44 am

No, I do not trust him

  • Ngb February 26, 2016, 6:39 am

Why make it hard to obtain a full auto…
    Because the government fears this..

A free people should not only be armed and diciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.

“This quote is partially accurate as the beginning section is taken from Washington’s First Annual Message to Congress on the State of the Union. However, the quote is then manipulated into a differing context and the remaining text is inaccurate.”

Among the many interesting objects, which will engage your attention, that of providing for the common defence will merit particular regard. To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace.

A free people ought not only to be armed but disciplined; to which end a Uniform and well digested plan is requisite: And their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories, as tend to render them independent on others, for essential, particularly for military supplies.

  • George February 26, 2016, 6:36 am

Trump is the only one who is running that carries, has to ware a bullet proof vest because of all the death threats. Yes, he Will protect the Second Amendment.
    George

    • Rob February 26, 2016, 8:51 am

Actually, Trump is the only one we know of that carries. I think this may speak a bit to his self absorbed ego a bit. One more thing he can boast about.
I’d rather see Cruz in the Oval office, a man who has proven his dedication to the constitution on every issue.

    • thefallenrepublic March 2, 2016, 4:18 pm

      1st point:
Let me ask you, in a scenario where the left re-takes the house and senate and pushes a new “universal background checks” bill which we all know is really, just a gun registration scheme, who do you want? Do you want a president who will, “make deals”, or would you rather one that would do everything in his power to kill or veto it? Cruz has shown he is one of the very very few in the Rep. Party who is willing to stand up to even his own party like when he shut down the government by filibustering the budget extension bill on the senate floor in direct opposition to his own party and not just the communist socialist party. HE WILL NOT COMPROMISE HIS VALUES and neither should we by going with the unknown in TRUMP!

      2nd point:
How does having a permission slip from the government to own an object or carry one make you an advocate or expert on a topic?

      3rd point:
Please explain then why last week at Trumps Ft. Worth, Texas rally did he instruct secret service to make sure TX CHL Holders not be permitted unless they leave their weapons in their vehicle? This venue is legal for CHL(CWL,CC) holders to carry and clearly posted signage affirming this fact. No, it was not the secret services direction as it was the secret service that disarmed me and asked that I leave or return the firearm to my vehicle. I explained I am a TX CHL holder and pointed to the signage. They said and I quote, ” Mr. Trump has requested, CHL holders not be allowed in with their firearms”. You can be admitted, but must store your firearm in your car. Don’t give me he is a presidential candidate crap, because during the 2012 election, Open Carriers showed to an Obama campaign and they were not disarmed!

      4th point:
Want more evidence, do a simple search on Trump and his position on the “assault weapons” ban. If you believe he has changed his mind on this, than what was his epiphany? I can tell you what mine was 5yrs ago when I used to be anti-gun and overnight became a 2nd amendment advocate. Funny how a situation where you feel completely incapable of defending yourself should things escalate changes your perspective.
What about all his opposing positions on virtually every policy position? What about him saying Obama was doing a great job? What about him saying Hillary was the best Secretary of State “EVER”? What about him saying he will make deals? What about him saying on Hannity “everything is negotiable”. Even immigration? Oh, the wall’s not, but everything else is! Or how about him saying he won’t defund planned parenthood? You all that think Trump is the guy to fix the problem are completely missing that HE IS THE PROBLEM! He donates to politicians so that in his own words, ” when I need them to do something for me, they do it”. That right there is the whole reason our country has become so corrupt and a man that fully participates in it is somehow supposed to fix it? I don’t know what you Trump people see in him? All I have seen is a man willing to say anything he thinks you want to hear and will turn on you in a heartbeat if he thinks the benefit outweighs the risk. I thought Rand Paul was my guy, but Cruz is the only one left and he truly is a man of integrity and has stood against the establishment since the beginning. Why do you think, the establishment says they can work with Trump, but that Cruz is too ideological and uncompromising? Listen to them! They are telling you who you need to vote for!

  • RetNavet February 26, 2016, 6:27 am

When it comes to actual policy and the details of such…..Trump is an empty suit. You’re asking me if I trust someone who either cannot or will not articulate his position on anything with any detail whatsoever….answer NO

  • RetNavet February 26, 2016, 6:24 am

    Trust Trump???….LMFAO….I wouldn’t trust that dog-robber with

  • AL Green February 26, 2016, 6:11 am

I’d trust Trump before the others, it’s about the world situation not just guns. If our government doesn’t get it’s shit together soon the only gun we’ll need is one to put up to our temple and press the trigger… Because life in America won’t be worth living!

  • ed February 26, 2016, 6:02 am

WITH ME, IT IS NOT A MATTER OF DO I SPECIFICALLY TRUST HIM. IT IS A MATTER OF WHO DO WE HAVE TO CHOOSE FROM. HE IS THE OBVIOUS CHOICE FOR ME OF THOSE WE HAVE. IT IS TIME TO HAVE SOMEONE WITH BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE TO GUIDE OUR NATION TO RETRIEVE THE STATUS OF PRODUCING OUR OWN GOODS INSTEAD OF BUYING THEM FROM CHINA AND OTHER NATIONS THAT HAVE COST US SO MUCH. TRY TO BUY SOMETHING THAT IS TRULY MADE IN THE USA!

  • Homer Bowman February 26, 2016, 5:57 am

Love him or hate him {there doesn’t seem to be a middle of the road here}, Trump WILL be the republican nominee, unless they kill him {I’m not joking here}. At that point, what choice do we have but to trust him? If you say: “I don’t trust the SOB, I’m staying home on election day”, that is the same as if you had voted for Hillary, and we all know what she would like to do to our 2nd Amendment rights. Not only that, but she would be the one to chose Scalia’s replacement. Think real hard before you let your bias’ against Trump deliver us up to the Clinton mob {a fate worse than death}.

  • Dannrx1 February 26, 2016, 5:55 am

Bottom line people is Trump is the only Republican candidate that can beat Hillary and if we lose the supreme Court ( because she replaces scalia) then our country as we know it will cease to exist!!!

  • WilliamDahl February 26, 2016, 5:43 am

I don’t particularly like Trump, but unlike Obama, Cruz, Rubio, Jindal, and Santorum, BOTH of Trump’s parents were US citizens at the time of his birth, so *he* is a natural born citizen. Trump is your stereotypical obnoxious Yankee and that’s reason enough to hate him. None of the candidates are conservative enough for my tastes. Like has happened in most of the elections in recent memory, I’ll hold my nose and vote for him.

    • Doug Lawton February 26, 2016, 8:40 am

I agree. Trump is (once again) the lesser of evils. Rubio is a “Naturalized” citizen not “Natural Born” and unfortunately, the same is true for Cruz. I think Cruz would be a great president IF he were eligible. But for the same reason Obama is/was not eligible, Rubio and Cruz aren’t either. I also think that Trump will be able to work with Congress to get laws repealed better than Cruz or Rubio. He knows how to “take the matter to the people” like Reagan did to get things done. I could be wrong and this might just be a crap shoot, but I’m voting for Trump this go round……

  • C. Thomas Dyllan, Capt. USAF, Retired February 26, 2016, 5:41 am

I would never trust a man who dodged military service as so many millionaire’s sons did! He’s a businessman and they will sell out anyone much less we who defend our ‘2A’ rights! I vote NO WAY for ‘Herr Trump.’

  • Matthew February 26, 2016, 5:39 am

I’m definitely voting Trump – I strongly believe, out of ALL candidates, that he would be the one who will actually defend our 2A rights. No one is perfect, and in realm of politics that’s a severe understatement – however he is not at all what we have seen in the past – which, at this point in our history, I welcome with an open mind, and a firm handshake. We need radical changes in the way we lead, the way we conduct business, and our policy’s NOW!!! or this train will careen even further into the ground… his words are resonating, there’s no arguing that. Seeing Trumps numbers gives me hope for the future, cause I really want America back. We are still great, but what we have become since waaay back (about the time the book you reference was published), has been nothing short of a nightmare.

  • Pete February 26, 2016, 5:24 am

I trust Trump regarding the 2A. He is a member of the NRA, he has a concealed carry permit, he carries, his kids are big hunters (which was probably endorsed by their farther), and he has consistently stated he is pro 2A. He seems like a person who says what he believes and doesn’t back down. Refreshing.

  • John J. February 26, 2016, 5:23 am

He’s not my first choice. However, if he’s nominated he has my vote. Can’t fathom how anyone who loves freedom could possibly cast their vote for Hillary.

  • roger February 26, 2016, 4:59 am

FOX News and Glen Beck hate Trump. I myself support Trump. I do not want Hillary ore Bernie in as they are anti-gun. Romney in the last election was anti-semi auto rifles until the RNC forced him on the voters. look who we got again OBAMA.

  • Mike February 26, 2016, 4:31 am

None of our rights are safe with Clinton or Sanders in office. The same can’t be said about Trump, whatever of his motivations. He’s not my first choice, but ANY of the GOP candidates “trump” Clinton/Sanders (pun intended).

  • Dave Brady February 26, 2016, 3:30 am

It all comes down to “the lesser of two devils”, uh, I meant evils. Can’t trust any of them, just which one do you distrust least? We, as citizens, don’t have the ability to vote FOR someone we would like to have in office, just against the worst one. Sad state of affairs, but Trump is at least not a lifelong politician like all the others. Will he sell us down the river? Too early to tell, but the odds certainly make him the best choice of a very bad lot.

    • thelionofliberty March 2, 2016, 5:07 pm

Dave, See “the District of Columbia v. Heller” Supreme Court case. If you are a 2A advocate, you know this decision very well. This decision confirmed ( not that they court really has that authority, but I digress), that individuals indeed have the fundamental RTKBA. Well, if you want to support the presidential candidate who is the strongest supporter of the 2nd amendment, then you have your answer, TED CRUZ! Ted Cruz fought this case at the Supreme Court. He gave the oral arguments and wrote the amicus brief submitted to the court. AND… HE WON! (yes he has help, but he carried much if the water)

  • John D February 26, 2016, 3:30 am

Ted Cruz is the only candidate I trust to preserve our God given rights. I don’t trust Trump at all. He wrote in his book not that long ago that he favors an “assault weapons” ban and a 72 hour waiting period. He gave money to Clinton & Bloomberg backed Terry McAuliffe’s campaign for Virginia Governor ( that election was just in 2014). And just from observing his erratic behavior in this campaign I think he has no moral compass and will go which ever way the wind blows.

    • Bill February 26, 2016, 10:08 am

Yes…especially…”think he has no moral compass and will go which ever way the wind blows.” Especially if it is ego building.

  • Dustin Eward February 26, 2016, 3:00 am

    NO.

    • denzle hufford February 26, 2016, 5:31 pm

i think donald trump is the best chance we american people have at the moment no one is perfect and no he is not perfect but then he never said he was

      • thelionofliberty March 2, 2016, 5:12 pm

You owe it to yourself to check The “District of Columbia vs. Heller”. I am sure you recall that this affirmed the individual has the RTKBA. Well, do you know who was an integral part in winning this case by giving oral argunents in front of the Supreme Court and also submitted the amicus brief to the court? TED CRUZ! He has fought for our liberties and will fight for them. He was fighting this case in front of the Supreme Court at the same time Trump was donating to Charles Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. Who do you think really has the back of we the people?

        • SteveC March 18, 2016, 5:28 am

The issue with Cruz is he cant beat Hillary. He wont beat hillary. Not going to beat Hillary. He wont grab the undecided votes, or the ignorant ones. Unfortunately we are forced into the “party play” us vs them: GOP vs Demcrat. You cannot let a full on democrat back in the commanders chair this election. If so, say goodbye to the GOP and America as we would like to still know and experience her.

  • FelixD February 25, 2016, 10:04 am

I vote no. Can’t trust him. Too irratic. Everything he says is a pitch.

    • David hamera February 25, 2016, 11:17 am

And everything all the other politicians say isn’t a pitch? Rolls eyes

      • Chris Baker February 26, 2016, 6:41 am

No. Everything everyone says is NOT a pitch or is a pitch but truth as well. Trump is a lying sack of crap who is only out for himself. He is even less honest and honorable than Barack Obama. He has said he’s going to do the same thing as BO as regards to using executive orders to do the things he wants done regardless of what congress does. So far my research into his past and his personal actions show that he is just as dishonest as the Clintons, just not as good at it as they are.

    • Frank February 26, 2016, 6:48 am

I don’t trust any of the potential GOP candidates. One step further, I don’t trust any politician. The days of them serving their country is written in the history books. Unfortunately we live in a world of pendulum swings. With President Hussein Obama we have swung wildly to the left. We need the candidate that will radically swing us back to the right and pray for it to center out in a constitutionally protected America. I use those thoughts as I decide. Enemy of my enemy so to speak.

    • Captain Bob February 26, 2016, 12:45 pm

So who will you vote for if he is the GOP candidate running against Hillary, Sanders or Bloomberg?

    • Captain Bob February 26, 2016, 12:55 pm

OK, so who would you like to see as President? EVERYONE has some skeletons in their closet. Even Ronald Reagan used to be a Democrat and he turned out to be the best current times President we ever had. Really, the only way to see how a person will serve the country is to give them a chance. Trump is by no means perfect but he is the only person capable of winning against the Dems in this election. I just pray that, if he is nominated, all the naysayers get behind him if only to defeat whoever the Dem candidate is. Refusing to vote for whomever the Republicans are running is the same as a vote for the Dems. The divided vote is how we seem to always lose an election against the organized and supportive Democrat voters.

  • Aaron G February 24, 2016, 10:39 pm

There is hope. Like Andy said, there are pro 2a democrats. I’ve very, very recently come to be pro 2a, though I’m young and was raised in a relatively liberal, gun-hating family. I support the second amendment, limited government oversight, and believe Americans should be armed and poised to face any threat. I also believe in the first amendment and that no laws should be passed that are motivated by religion, and I’m pro choice. I ultimately have to decide if I would rather keep my guns or follow the majority of my ideals.

I choose my guns. Rights don’t mean squat if you’re incapable of defending them.

    • Chris Baker February 26, 2016, 7:00 am

People like you give me hope that not all is lost. There is no left or right only right or wrong. Welcome to the right side of life.

  • Andy Murrow February 24, 2016, 5:10 pm

Trump would not be my first choice. However if he wins the Republican nomination, which may very well do, he will have my support. If you are a STRONG supporter of the 2nd amendment I do not see how you can justify voting for Clinton or Sanders. There are many Democrats that support our gun rights. These two Democrat/Socialists clearly do not.

  • David hamera February 24, 2016, 2:33 pm

I think our 2A rights have more of a fair chance with Trump than any other candidate, I think all the other candidates would sacrifice our rights if it would better their posistion , I don’t think trump will be beholding to any special interest groups, and , say what you want about trump but I truly believe Trump loves The United States of America and will do all he can to make it great again , even if it ends up costing him millions of dollars. I believe he loves America and the other candidates love what America can do for them.

  • Tom Horn February 24, 2016, 2:20 pm

Trumps claim to fame is, “the Art of the Deal.” He’s a wheeler-dealer. Deals are made through compromise. My Constitutional rights are not up for compromise. I do not trust him with our 2nd Amendment Rights.

    • Jeff smith February 24, 2016, 11:39 pm

Protecting our 2ndA rights has nothing to do with being a wheeler-dealer. What many fail to realize is we are a nation of many personalities and ideologies. A true leader takes all things into account and finds common ground that all can agree on.

A dictator believes in my way or the highway. If you do not like Trump, just say it. You do have a 1stA right to do exactly that.

The bill of rights is sacred and part of the Constitution. Trump loves this country and it is the Constitution that has made this country what it is. Of course he will protect our 2ndA rights, but I also fully expect him to make “deals” that will be good for the country and unite the country and move this country forward.

This us against them has to stop. A few Obamaites have poisoned the well and divided this country. We need to remember that “United we stand, divided we fall.”

      • Tom Horn February 25, 2016, 5:07 pm

        Jeff,

Agree with most of what you said, just unsure of Trump. He’s been in bed with the Clintons before, when it has served him. I believe he is more about personal power, than about the U.S. Constitution. Never heard him speak out about our Constitutional Rights until he ran for President.

Always be wary of a populist candidate (Eugene V. Debs, Huey Long, Adolph Hitler, etc.), and populist movements (Share the Wealth, the Nazi Party, and ISIS). They usually ride in on emotions, not substance, when there is a power vacuum (like there currently is in the Republican Party, in Iraq after we pulled out, or Germany in the 1930’s) .

“He who joyfully marches in the rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him a spinal cord would suffice.” – Albert Einstein

        • AnnoyedVet February 26, 2016, 6:37 pm

I absolutely do not trust Trump. He is the epitome of Wall Street shyster using fear and racism and the promise of “making America great again”.

          1) America may not be all it can be, but if you don’t think America is great to live in, seriously, screw you.
          2) Trump has in the past sided and paid for the Clinton’s to be in office. I don’t see him changing any time soon.
          3) A large amount off his election tactics and promotion seems to be based on socialist/fascist tactics used by both Hitler and North Korea (the “Trump jam” with it’s pedophilia based dancers)
          4) He has become a billionaire under the current system and with no respect for the NRA, again, I have no reason to believe he will be when he has even more authority and power.
          5) He has a disgraceful history with respect towards veterans, POW’s and LEOs.

We should view Trump as a greater threat than Obama.
