The Ultimate 3-Gunner Pistol? STI's 3-Gun DVC—SHOT Show 2017

The STI DVC 3-Gun pistol is ready for high-end competitive shooting.

Overview

STI made their name on competition pistols, and this year was no different. In addition to providing the base kit on which probably 95% of the custom race guns are made, STI has their own out of the box ready to go model available now. As the name implies, this year’s model was made with the 3-Gunner in mind.

A full-up race gun you really have to shoot to appreciate, this one delivered. Fiber optic front sights with a flat black rear, the sight notch was cut with a balance of speed and accuracy in mind. In the sport of 3-Gun, you might step from a close three target array of full-size paper right over to a 75 meter steel shot, so that balance is important. The weight of the pistol makes 9mm recoil laughable, and 21+1 is a pretty serious capacity. The trigger was unbelievably good, which we expect from STI by this point. The trigger on a 2011 style pistol is pretty much as good as it gets.

Impression

The gun itself was beautiful, which does matter if you are dropping almost $3,000 on a pistol. The new style of texture on the grip really glues your hand to the frame, and with the diamond-like carbon coating, this one should last you for years. As we say in the business, buy once, cry once. A very nice pistol, perfect for stepping up your competition game.

I have read comments from others about many of the guns reviewed by GOA, and as a clarifation here I must say if one can afford it, go for it. But, where are the gun reviews for the average typical gun purchaser?

$3,000.00 for this gun reviewed here, there are many other fine guns at a lot less.

Umm pretty sure they just did a review on the tanfoglio at shot. Sweet gun for a sweet price. This gun is expensive but for a reason. I still read about lamborginis even thought i can only drive a beater. Dreamers got to have something to dream about.

GOA does a pretty good job of running the gamut on reviews from high end to the lowest end of the price spectrum. If you were not aware, Shot Show in Vegas just ended, so its typical at this time of year to get more of these high end crazy expensive “wet dream” gun reviews. Yeah they are expensive and the vast majority of us will never be able to buy one but its fun to know their out there and read about them. Would anyone buy Car and Driver if all they reviewed were KIA,s and Chevy sedans? Nope. In guns and cars its only natural to lust after the items you have the least likelihood of ever owning.
