An attempted carjacking in North Las Vegas last month was foiled when one of the victims fatally shot a suspect with his own gun.

Reports from Fox5 state that on Nov. 19th, a woman and her friend were sitting in their car outside another friend’s house, waiting for a Friendsgiving party to begin.

But their pre-turkey day relaxation was interrupted when a vehicle approached them fast and parked directly in front of their car, blocking it. Two males emerged from the vehicle, pointing guns at the women and demanding they get out of the car.

One of the men attempted to drive away in the women’s car but could not figure out how to get it into drive. (Note to would-be carjackers: always read the manual before trying to steal a car.)

This woman wasn’t going down without a fight. In a bold move, she told her friend to run and grabbed the gun from the suspect’s lap before being tackled from behind.

She managed to shoot the suspect and ran to a nearby house to hide. The second suspect began shooting at her but missed.

When officers arrived, they found a deceased male adult at the scene and began investigating the incident.

Several days later, after locating a vehicle of interest seen casing the area in surveillance footage, they arrested Jaylin Morrison on Dec. 2nd.

Morrison has been linked to the deceased suspect, and is facing charges of second-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with the use of a deadly weapon, and attempted grand larceny of a vehicle.

Fox News reported that he is being held on $50,000 bail.

Because she was confident in her ability to defend herself with a firearm, the victim thwarted a potentially fatal attack.
