Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura was awarded $1.8 million on Tuesday as a result of his lawsuit against the estate of slain Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.
After hearing the arguments from both sides, a Jury believed (by at least an 8-2 margin) that Kyle defamed Ventura in his best-selling book “American Sniper,” when he accused the former pro-wrestler and fellow SEAL of saying that the U.S. special forces “deserve to lose a few” because the War on Terror in Iraq was unjust.
Kyle also claimed that he punched Ventura in the face, following the encounter. Ventura denied that the incident ever happened.
“The verdict will tell the world Chris Kyle’s story was a lie,” said Ventura attorney David Bradley Olsen.
“One-point-five million people have bought the book,” Olsen continued. “Millions more heard Fox TV trash Jesse Ventura because of it. And the story went viral on the Internet and will be there forever.”
