Walmart Caves, Stops Selling Handgun and ‘Short-Barreled Rifle’ Ammo

Walmart has once again caved to political pressure from the anti-gun lobby by announcing a total ban on handgun ammunition and .223/5.56, what company officials call “short-barreled rifle” ammunition. The nation’s largest retailer will also discontinue handgun sales in Alaska (the only state it currently sells handguns) and “respectfully requests” that customers refrain from openly carrying handguns in states where the practice is allowed.

“We know these decisions will inconvenience some of our customers, and we hope they will understand,” CEO Doug McMillon said in a memo distributed to employees. “As a company, we experienced two horrific events in one week, and we will never be the same.”

Walmart’s decision comes after two high-profile massacres at stores in El Paso and Mississippi, which McMillon cites as justification for these policy changes. The company has also faced intense political pressure from the anti-gun lobby, including activists like David Hogg and politicians like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

McMillion estimates that Walmart currently accounts for about 20 percent of ammunition sales in the country. Once the company sells through its stock of handgun ammunition and 5.56/.223, he estimates Walmart’s share of the market will drop to about 6 percent.

Not be to outdone, grocery chain Kroger has also asked its customers to stop openly carrying firearms in its stores.

“Kroger has demonstrated with our actions that we recognize the growing chorus of Americans who are no longer comfortable with the status quo and who are advocating for concrete and common sense gun reforms,” Jessica Adelman, group vice president of corporate affairs, said in a statement, per CNBC.

As justification for its decision to prohibit open carry, McMillon cited a recent incident in which a man entered a Walmart store with a firearm to “make a statement” and frighten employees and customers. He also claims that in a separate incident a well-intentioned person openly carrying a firearm inadvertently caused the stored to be evacuated.

“We believe the opportunity for someone to misinterpret a situation, even in open carry states, could lead to tragic results,” McMillon said. “We hope that everyone will understand the circumstances that led to this new policy and will respect the concerns of their fellow shoppers and our associates.”

The policy does not affect concealed carries, who will still be permitted to carry their firearms on Walmart property.

McMillon did not explain why his company is no longer selling handgun ammunition.

The CEO not only wants to change Walmart policy but push for expansions of gun control across the country.

“We’ve also been listening to a lot of people inside and outside our company as we think about the role we can play in helping to make the country safer,” he said. “It’s clear to us that the status quo is unacceptable.”

McMillon plans to send letters to the White House and congressional leaders, asking for action on “common sense measures.” He’s calling on D.C. to “strengthen background checks and to remove weapons from those who have been determined to pose an imminent danger.”

Walmart is still planning to offer shotguns and “deer rifles” (presumably, bolt action rifles), a decision that’s raised criticism from anti-gun politicians.

Massachusetts Senator and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren said Walmart’s actions are “not nearly enough.”

This isn’t the first time Walmart has caved to political pressure.

In the 1990s the company stopped selling handguns anywhere in the U.S. except Alaska. In 2015, it stopped selling semi-automatic rifles, and, following the Parkland massacre, Walmart stopped selling firearms and ammunition to people under the age of 21.

What B.S.! In the ’60’s my buddy and I shot 1000K matches w/ an out of the box Springfield ’06 and while we didn’t win any “Gold” we did o.k. everything considered. Did all our reloading w/ a single stage Pacific reloading machine, ONE AT A TIME! using Sierra bullets and 4831 powder! Great fun! Using “Kentucky windage” Lyman scopes and leather hasty slings. (Still use them) and NO shooting sticks.

Walmart are cowards. They take our money and sell out to the crooked politicians.

  • Ronnie Pigg September 12, 2019, 10:01 pm

Walmart has the same conscious as the devel. They sell out their own country to China. They hire poor illegal immigrants over work them and under pay them. Can no get waited on in there stores. Treat their employees terrible, no full time, no benefits. Why do we even allow them in our cities. They come into a town and run all the other small business out. I say shut them down long enough to get all the people out of their stores and then destroy them.
Only thing American about thim is the land the buildings the occupy!

Still selling all ammo here in UTAH who verifies this ?

  • Tony bowling September 9, 2019, 3:33 pm

Walmart and the other stores are nothing short of stupid. If they want to stop selling ammunition that is fine no one should have to provide a service from their business to anyone they chose just like a baker should not have to make a cake for a gay couple. But stopping law abiding people from carrying firearms for their own and others protection is a load of bull. What they are doing is not going to stop anything except the ability for their customers to protect themselves while in their store. I don’t see why that is so hard for them to understand. If they want to stop legally carried guns in their store they should be held responsible just as the criminal commititting the crime. By the way why don’t anyone complain about the B B pistols that Walmart sells , you can’t tell the difference between them and real pistols until you get one and look down the barrel to see it only shoots BB’s. How are the police supposed to know the difference at a distance when they have one pointing at them and have to decide weather or not to shoot the person pointing at them or not. You can’t hold them responsible for actions they take if person won’t drop the gun when told so. Maybe that is something Walmart should consider when a child is shot for aiming one of those at someone.

  • APelo September 9, 2019, 7:31 am

I applaud Walmart’s willingness to walk away from these AMMO sales!!! Drives customers to OTHER retailers!!! Misguided Politics before bottomline financial performance, its Capitalism at its best!!!

  • Michael P Donlon September 9, 2019, 3:10 am

Surely they will stop selling pressure cooker as well. The Boston Marathon had 3 killed and injuring several hundred from 2 cookers. Recently some fool ran around NYC placing rice cookers around town causing hysteria, should these items be banned too? I will boycott Walmart and Kroger alike. There are plenty of other stores I can shop, that will be only too happy to have my money.

  • Don September 8, 2019, 4:59 pm

These new Wal Mart policies will make their stores less safe as criminals will assume the Wal Mart has become less gun friendly for law-abiding folks. It will make Wal Mart an even softer target. I will be cutting way back on purchases of any products there. It is always great when I can support their competition and they push me to do so.

  • Michael Cullen September 8, 2019, 2:36 pm

It is a waste of time to try and reason with unreasonable people.

  • Paul Abshire September 7, 2019, 5:16 pm

I cant believe how ridiculous this is.
I am an avid target shooter and now Walmart buckles. Seriously….you actually think this is going to serve as a deterrent to the mentally twisted. The tend to plan thier actions long before they act.

  • Jonathan September 7, 2019, 1:31 pm

There are plenty of other stores that sell ammo & I favor open carry only out at the gun range, bush, woods; or whatever they call it in your state.
When I see some Macho Dude open carrying in a store I figure he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. It is definitely not a deterrent to being attacked as some sly guy will just back-shoot you before committing the crime he is there to commit.
Signed: A dedicated concealed carry hombre.

BIG MISTAKE BY WALMART TO PUNISH THE GOOD FIREARM OWNERS, BAD GUYS WILL STILL HAVE ACCESS TO AMMO AND GUNS NO MATTER WHAT STORES CEASE SALES!!!!

  • bob September 7, 2019, 9:59 am

Walmart should stop selling alcohol and tobacco products. more people die from DWI and alcohol related incidents than by law abiding gun owners. hypocrites

  • Wally September 7, 2019, 8:53 am

  • Wally September 7, 2019, 8:32 am

    this is a joke

  • Wally September 7, 2019, 8:25 am

So good to see stupidity is alive and well in the good old U.S.A.. Please tell me what Dicks, Walmart or any other retail outlet deciding not to sell firearms products has to do with your 2nd Amendment rights. The answer is clearly nothing. Ask yourself if you would feel the same way if a friend or member of your family were shot down and killed for no apparent reason. If anyone thinks a handful of 2nd amendment, flag waiving hot heads is going to change anything, think again. Reactions like many on display here, do nothing to enhance those who are responsible gun owners and users of firearms.

  • Singleshotcajun September 7, 2019, 7:53 am

    I’ve got a 20″ barreled bolt action .270 Win , is that a short barreled rifle ? 😉

  • Singleshotcajun September 7, 2019, 7:50 am

Thus far I have not seen the legal signage in Texas, 30.06 for no concealed carry or 30.07 for no open carry . If the no concealed carry sign get posted it’s good bye Wally’s.

  • Singleshotcajun September 7, 2019, 7:47 am

Clear as mud. Guess just quit Wally’s been looking for a reason and this may be it.

I couldnt get the shittest ammo at walmart for anything near that! Stop talking about this shit, drop it guys. Not worth the loss, make your own receivers n search for deals on ammo, or wait for holiday sales. Screw this shit, we all have to VOTE. Just another good reason to learn how to roll your own. You can make better ammo than they sell at Wal Mart.

  • Michael Harper September 6, 2019, 4:17 pm

Bet old Sam is rolling in his grave. They sell a lot more dangerous products and ignore the consequences. Look up fbi statistics on murders. Last time I looked hammers were on top. They have no problem with death, just guns.

As is typical in our society today , the vocal minority , again ,
overrules common sense and logic .
Whom can be blamed , as we all allow this to happen ?

  • pete September 6, 2019, 2:22 pm

Lol, if you all had shootings in your stores, and customers afraid, bad (but accurate) media coverage, etc you’d all probably want less guns/bullets and such in your places as well, unless you’d like to live in the old wild wild west and enjoy your short brutal lives! Oooh, gun fights, how fun, how cool!

    • D.J. September 6, 2019, 3:41 pm

      Can we say ……….reactionary , anyone ?

    • Joe koehler September 7, 2019, 7:27 am

Obviously You don’t know anything about history. Although many people in the old west carried firearms it was not like you see in the movies. To keep this short I’d tell you to just study your history. The real history of this country not the liberal history. Also if you look at all these shootings . the shooters are all cowards and don’t go to places that people carry guns. And can fight back. And for your info a lot of people that have experienced these Situations are going out and arming them selves and getting training to defend there families and not just laying down like the Democratic’s want

  • Phil September 6, 2019, 2:21 pm

If I see a boxcutter used by any employee in any store I’ m going to report it to the manager and call the police. More than 2900 people lost their lives and $Billions of dollars of property were destroyed by boxcutters in one hour. Why are those allowed? Same with the hi-jab. I feel very uncomfortable when I see them. It is terrifying.

  • Keith C G Kyle September 6, 2019, 1:54 pm

Let me understand this, you are going to stop selling handgun ammo? Does that include .22LR? Which is both a handgun ammunition and rifle? I stopped buying ammo at my local Walmart a long time ago. Why? Because of two reasons; 1. you were always out of stock of .22LR and 2. because you can never find a person who has the “keys”! I am going to find another place to purchase my required “Made in China” crap. All you people who fall for this ignorant “guns kill people” crap need to rethink your position and figure out; “Unbalanced people kill people” . Guns are “inanimate objects” My gun has been on my hip for years and hasn’t killed anyone.

  • Bayou Boys September 6, 2019, 12:14 pm

    Forgot in earlier comment

Walmart why are you selling opioids they have killed more people than we can count, even more than guns.
You’re no better than the DRUG DEALER on the corner you’re hiding in plain sight fooling everyone !!!!!!!!!

  • M Q September 6, 2019, 12:09 pm

I usually shop at Walmart once a week, primarily for groceries and other practical items that are generally, but not always, cheaper there than at my other local options. Never bought ammunition or firearms at Walmart. I live in a state that doesn’t allow open carry. As long as Walmart continues to allow me to conceal carry inside its stores with a current and valid conceal carry license, which I have, I have no political quarrel with it, at least to the extent where I’m going to say, “Never shopping there again” because of its change in ammo and firearm policy.

    • bill September 6, 2019, 4:32 pm

so when they decide to disallow your ccw what will you do.
      camels nose MQ camels nose.

  • Shop Owner September 6, 2019, 12:07 pm

OK,, I am guessing many are young on here BUT in the 80’s Wal-Mart TRIED VERY AGGRESSIVELY to push MADE IN AMERICA. They set it up as a test with MADE IN AMERICA on end caps and center islands for the most part,, really shoved it in your face. Then down the side isles they had the Made In China equivalent at a lower price.

AMERICA made the decision to NOT support Made in America products THAT is why you see so much made in China stuff there and EVERY other store in America.

So this Wall of China rant is just retarded. I challenge ANYONE to do their shopping with no made in china in their cart.

As for those of you that WERE buying ammo there,, you pissed on your small town neighbor owned gun shop in the process and got lower quality ammo in doing so.

Open carry is like showing your cards in a Poker game and then betting your wad on a loosing hand. If I am the bad guy YOU are my first target, Quick Draw McGraw.

If you want to be pissed at someone be pissed at the assholes who recently shot up people in their stores and pushed them into their decision.

The back story is that if you think ANY of these shootings do not include finding where the ammo came from, where the gun came from AND those shops getting a letter from an attorney that is NOT there to wish them well,, you are once again retarded.

Wal-Mart is a HUGE target for someone to run in and start shooting and they are a big target for lawsuits if the ammo came from there.

As rural communities fade, small farms disappear, cities get larger, hunting grounds get harder to find,,,, you WILL see gun rights disappear because rural communities have generally been the back bone to 2A. People in subdivisions have less ambition to shoot and thus will start caring less about an investment they can only LOOK at since they don’y have time or money to go to the RANGE since they can’t shoot in their backyard.

Its coming, I don’t like it but its coming. If you want to stop it your best bet is to try and stop development since I ASSURE you we aint making ANY more “RURAL” here in the USA,, we just BURN IT at an incredible rate. Child birth in the USA is finally below 2 but I doubt it’s accurate and our population STILL grows with immigrants. LOOK at a population growth chart for the USA and you’ll have MANY answers as to why it seems to suck so bad now in comparison to several decades back.

In the 60’s there were 3.5 Billion people on Earth, today we’re pushing 8 Billion,,, YUP it’s coming with a whole lot of other “Bad”

The “STUPID” Farmer knows a pasture can only support so much livestock,, too bad the world aint as smart as the “stupid” farmer.

So,, will ALL of you stop buying groceries from Wal-Mart?
Can you EVEN find a “Mom & Pop” grocery store?
Will you pay the higher price IF you do?
Will you support your local Gun Shop or go running to the first Big Sale at Academy to save $10?

Americans created their market by shopping there in the first place. Wal-Mart did not just “Happen” Americans fed it and watered it into a GIANT.

    Now they bitch about it,,,

    • Christopher September 6, 2019, 6:03 pm

Your comment is incorrect. Old man wally wanted the Made In America. The stupid kids took over and said F that and changed everything to Made In China. For profits you see. That was their decision and I am sure he is rolling over in his grave.

  • Gus September 6, 2019, 12:01 pm

Not a problem, their are 10 plus other stores that sell ammunition, and WINCO is cheaper $ than them. Dozens of internet stores with free shipping. I just won’t be able to see the Tweakers and Gong show rejects.

  • Bayou Boys September 6, 2019, 11:46 am

Anyone That’s spends a dime in Walmart is a COWART you need to move to CA. with all the DEMO-RAT’s. This is the third pass the lowlife scum is asking for, NO AR’s, Pistol’s now Ammo. A family friend was a vendor for Wal. every 3 to 4 weeks they squeeze the vendors for lower prices till they cant give anymore. The vendors are forced to sell sub-standard items like produce its sent half rotten to make it not to mention other items. Once you bow and get sucked into the web and start to get threatened after you are all as a vendor its over for you, no mercy!
Is this who we want to supporting ???? every time you spend money with them we are. Now it time to support the local sporting goods stores and gun shop When we teach them a lesson the rest will think twice before they cave into the next group. It was nice knowing you A++Hol*ES

    • bill September 6, 2019, 4:36 pm

i guess you could buy your guns and ammo at Dicks OH! wait….

    • Christopher September 6, 2019, 6:12 pm

Rah Rah ! I will now buy my ammo at Sportsmans or Big 5 just to name a couple. Big 5 needs to lower their ammo prices though. Even when it goes on sale I can still get it cheaper somewhere else. I’ve boycotted Cabelas just cuz they suck. They refuse to put the serial number of a new firearm on the reciept. They used to. They could not give me a good reason why. They’ve sucked since Bass took over… F Em.

    Drunk Driving Accident Statistics Nationwide

During 2017, one person died every 48 minutes in the United States in a drunk driving accident. In 2016, the average was one person every 50 minutes.

Walmart sales alcohol which kills far more people each year, 30 a day, 10,950 a year based on the above statistics. Will Walmart stop selling alcohol?

  • Glen September 6, 2019, 11:23 am

NO ONE BUY THE LAST AMMO AT WALMART! Let them get stuck with their inventory!! Hypocritical anti-gun stand, but wants to still sell their stock!! Idiot pro-gun people will buy their remaining inventory!

  • Alwiii September 6, 2019, 10:56 am

Wa Mart is a joke! If they were serious about ammo being a problem they would try return it to manufacture or donate to law enforcement. Instead they want to squeeze the last dollar by putting it on sale.

So what will be next on their agenda?

      • bill September 6, 2019, 4:48 pm

your car will be next. the socialists..er democrats are already restricting many automotive things. the socialists..er democrats don’t want you to be moving around, they want to keep a close watch on you. if you own a van or motorhome and attempt to sleep anywhere but a campground, which you have to pay for, you will be warned then ticketed. unless of course you are ILLEGAL ALIENS or homeless vagrants and dopers then it’s fine to sleep on the streets. and it’s true that mom and pop gunstores are a viable option. unfortunately, at least here in Kalifornexico the socialists… er democrats are restricting locations for the small shops.

  • Paul September 6, 2019, 9:41 am

    One final thought,
The reason the USA will never be invaded, or successfully occupied by a foreign or domestic coup attempt, is because the American Patriot IS the militia. We are well armed, and need to keep it that way. Don’t EVER accept attempts by socialists, communists, or anarchists to disarm the militia in ANY WAY! Freedom isn’t free, and we must protect it whatever the cost.

    • Michael Hegyan September 6, 2019, 10:25 am

Exactly, people forget that no gun zones, are the most dangerous. Case in point, having lived in Chicago, for ten years ( goldcoast, not southside ) Cook County has the tightest gun in the nation, besides Manhattan, at yet, there is at least several shootings a day.

  • Son_of_Liberty September 6, 2019, 9:37 am

Wait…. We could buy SBR ammo?

Walmart can do what they wish, their business. No one that I know buys guns or ammo from them anyway unless it’s shells.

  • Robert L Godeaux September 6, 2019, 9:35 am

I will make it a point to shop elsewhere. Money is not everything you must take a stand for somethings.

  • Paul September 6, 2019, 9:34 am

I RARELY shop at Walmart due to their close relationships with China. Buying products at Walmart is an indirect means of supporting Their form of government. The idea that Walmart now refuses to serve a legal and legitimate market in America,(Sportsmen, self-defense, and collectors) shows who they really answer to, and support. Personally, I hope enough Patriots recognize their (Walmart) lack of patriotism, and find alternative suppliers of home goods and other supplies. Walmart does not deserve our patronage.

  • Christopher Chason September 6, 2019, 9:20 am

Um — just WHAT THE **** IS “Short Barreled” Rifle Ammo??? Is this another invention from the same braindead turds who think that AR-15s are “assault rifles”?

  • Godfrey Washington September 6, 2019, 9:17 am

    Keep calm, conceal carry.

  • Billy Long September 6, 2019, 9:04 am

WalMart is a private business and can do as they wish. The market response will be what it is. My big fear is that everything is being divided and we wont even be able to shop at the same stores anymore with people of different opinions.
The leftists always talk about unity, but everything they do is utterly divisive. This is another cultural step in the wrong direction for our country.

    Molon Labe

  • Robert Lee September 6, 2019, 9:00 am

I would like to see our side take over the language in this argument From now on refer to these attempts to remove the 2nd A rights as “Communist sense gun laws” as this is their final destination…

  • Will Beararms September 6, 2019, 8:50 am

I have no doubt Mr. McMillon is a hard working, well meaning individual. He’a a $19.4 Million Dollar a year man who’s lost sight of reality and the rural market that brought Wall of China Mart to the dance. How dare him lecture the commoners on how we defend our families? No law will keep pistols, SBR’s and ammo out of the hands of ANTIFA, Aryan Gangs, The Crips or The Bloods. Those who favor low prices and convenience over freedom deserve tyranny.

  • Dave September 6, 2019, 8:21 am

Does Walmart realize every company that use to sell firearms either is out of business or is heading there. Sears,Sports Authority, Woolworths, Dicks… Just to name a few.

  • Steve September 6, 2019, 8:20 am

This is why I have openly carried for many years. Too many people have gotten used to not seeing guns, that they freak out on the store owners now when a customer has a gun.

  • Jack September 6, 2019, 7:49 am

Walmart is now on my “Gillette List”.

  • ron September 6, 2019, 7:19 am

fauxcahontas’ response is a perfect example of why one shouldn’t bother trying to compromise with a lib. They do NOT want to just modify or improve something – they want to DESTROY you!

    • Joe Sample September 6, 2019, 8:30 am

Wal mart is on its way to becoming the next K mart but thats ok with me .

  • BILL BRONAUGH September 6, 2019, 7:17 am

And lets see how many people who love the 2nd Amendment continue shopping at the Chinese outlet stores. My guess is about 2% of us will actually stop giving them any money and the other 98% will continue helping the communists strip us to the bone.

    • Reggie September 6, 2019, 8:13 am

Well you can count me in Bill. So let’s just see. Either way, I have done my part, you have done yours. So fell free to STFU

  • mike September 6, 2019, 7:11 am

Well like Dick’s and others companies, I am DONE with Walmart!

  • Jay September 6, 2019, 7:04 am

When some one hits you, you hit back. The only thing these types of people understand is their pockets Time to boycott Walmart, they needs us far more than we need them. No more Walmart china goods for us!

  • joe September 6, 2019, 6:51 am

I never shopped at the dump Walmart. And I would never buy ammo from the commie pos.

  • Anthony Romano September 6, 2019, 6:50 am

I will never step foot in a WalMart, Kroger, Walgreens or CVS again, period. They could care less about us law abiding gun owners so I will respect their wishes and shop elsewhere. Oh yea, add Dicks to that list too!

    • scorcher33 September 6, 2019, 9:42 am

Don’t forget to include Target. They were the first ones to take a slash at our 2A Rights.

      • Keith C G Kyle September 6, 2019, 2:22 pm

Well, Target is a French owned company no less. Remember the slogan from WW1; “Lucky Pierre has your back”. In WW2 most French rifles were “fired once, dropped once”. The French Resistance was mostly a myth, perpetrated to make the Germans fearful, not. The French cannot be depended upon, the English speaking world had to save them, twice. I do not shop @ Target! Add Wally World to the list now.

  • Wally September 6, 2019, 6:38 am

Walmart and Dicks decision is clearly theirs and hardly worth all the whining and ink it is getting.

  • Tim Spalding September 6, 2019, 6:34 am

Better get out and vote. We are teetering off the cliff now. And support the NRA – nevermind the in-fighting silliness, the gun haters are stomping all over us!

    • bill September 6, 2019, 5:36 pm

i agree with Tim. the ONLY way to beat these people is through the ballot box. If as some say there are 100 million gun owners in the US all that needs to be done is to all vote as one in our states and in national elections all vote as one. Imagine if you will what the “on the fence ” politicians panic would be if that somehow happened. 2 election cycles would bring about a complete reversal.

  • Guy Hamilton September 6, 2019, 6:25 am

I will no longer be shopping at walmart are Kroger’s along with several of my friends

  • Jerry September 6, 2019, 6:09 am

I watched Tucker Carlson interview mayor Di Blasio the other night and of course he’s talking about banning “assault rifles” i was disappointed that Tucker didn’t ask the obvious question to the mayor: “what is an assault rifle”? The liberal media will never ask this question but Fox news and conservative reporters should ask this question every time an “assault rifle” ban comes up-and instantly correct the misconceptions when the answer is given.
By the way is wal-mart gOING to stop selling .22 LR ammo-after all, it’s used in handguns?

    • Dr Motown September 6, 2019, 9:05 am

Actually, Tucker did slip that question in but DiBlasio just talked over it, as typical libtard strategy right up there with calling you \”racist\”

      • Shan September 6, 2019, 2:32 pm

DiBlasio explained how he deserved more protection then regular citizen. His armed guards could carry AR 15s but we don’t need them.

  • Jorge Garcia September 6, 2019, 5:58 am

One giant step forward for criminals, one small step back for honest law abiding citizens, I would have never thought a giant powerful company like wally would fold, I expected it from Dicks, just look at the name, but not walmart. GOD HELP US ALL,

    • Jon Dough September 6, 2019, 8:18 am

Jorge’….God helps those that help themselves -eh?

Don’t shop those merchants who do not support your right to self-protection.

  • Mark September 6, 2019, 5:56 am

Walmart needs to stop selling car parts, prescription drugs and knives as they kill far more people every year than guns do.

  • Scooter Lippy September 6, 2019, 5:38 am

I haven’t bought WalMart ammo in 7or 8 years. I had a weak moment a few months back and almost bought a cheap single shot shotgun they had for under $100. My wife was kind enough to remind me of my boycott of WalMart sporting goods. (Somehow she wins more of these than I do) I may have to extend this boycott to include groceries.

  • Rane September 6, 2019, 5:38 am

Your LGS is going to LOVE this. My cousin owns and operates a gun store, and has always found it hard to sell ammo with a Walmart within 15 miles of his shop. You just can’t compete with corporate giants. This is going to boost local sales across the country. It’s bittersweet. Yes, more money goes to the right people, but it will cost the consumer more. There’s always online retailers like freedom munitions. Shipping isn’t too bad is you and your buddies go in and buy bulk. Or start reloading and find a good local source for gun powder and primers. Those are the only 2 ingredients that will cost you for hazmat shipping, the rest is easily obtained online- thanks MidwayUSA!!

    • Jon Dough September 6, 2019, 8:33 am

Au Contrair, Rane: Screw Midway (and Brownell’s for that matter ) ; they took the coward’s way out and refuse to sell to NYS residents (n fear of the NYS lawyers of the “SAFE ACT” ) EVEN THOUGH it IS perfectly legal (-thanks to Senator Seward’s M.O.U. ) –after the NY State Police FAILED to get the gun grabber’s mandated ‘ammo sales’ tracking database up and in operation. Surprise, surprise,.. when was the last time a government mandated operation ever worked as the loudmouth legislative clowns intended it to?

      • Rane September 6, 2019, 9:27 am

I’m sorry to hear that, I had no idea. I guess I kind of understand their stance, but they really should stand their ground on these issues. I’m glad I live in Florida, but hate the direction some states have gone. It really is a shame.

  • John Ray September 6, 2019, 4:43 am

Lets do a little exercise here,Lets lay a Ak47 and a 45 auto loader on a table. Then lets tell that AK 47 and that 45 auto loader to get up off the table load itself get into a truck or car drive to a school, mall or public area and start killing/shooting innocent people.Look when are you people going to understand?! It’s not the damned gun killing these people,,it’s the crazy mentally disturbed S.O.B’s holding the gun !! You can not fix crazy or someone mentally unstable. It’s not the damned gun it’s the sick mentally unstable people/persons holding the gun : )

    • rsmalt September 6, 2019, 8:49 am

Unfortunately, you can’t reason with people who aren’t capable of rational thought. All that matters to them is how they “feel.”

      • scorcher33 September 6, 2019, 9:50 am

“Our Rights shouldn’t end where their feelings begin!”

    • Boss September 6, 2019, 10:03 am

it’s the crazy mentally disturbed LIBERAL S.O.B’s holding the gun

    • kk September 6, 2019, 10:33 pm

they fear that our guns will be used against them when they implement the final stages of their marxists agenda..

  • Jaque September 5, 2019, 11:05 pm

Do Americas gun owners have the conviction to Abandon Wallmart all together ? Wallmart has abandoned us. Will we Stop buying food, cloths, housewares, plants, propane, toys, and tools from them ?If we Abandon Wallmart we can put a 14% dent in their sales which would hurt their bottom line. Its time to fight back where we can. Wallmart provided most all target ammo I buy, in .22LR, 9MM, 45ACP, .38 Sp, .357Mag, 5.56MM and most everything else they sell including TV sets and electronics. No longer.

Its clear who Wallmart is carrying water for, Communist Party USA.

  • Mike V September 4, 2019, 5:35 pm

SBR ammo? That’s a clever way to not sell ammo for the majority of ARs.

Of course the ammo is not what differentiates a rifle from a short barreled rifle…but that would be honest. In their desire to change, they want to fool their customers into thinking they must be talking about something else, after all, how many own SBRs? How many know their rifle uses the same ammo?

Every lever is going to be pulled, every button pushed, to seperate us from our weapons.

  • Sepp W September 4, 2019, 4:35 pm

I guess Sam Walton is rolling in his grave. It’s coming folks. The liberals will make it so onerous to buy or possess a firearm it won’t be worth it. Every Republican, Conservative, Libertarian, and Democrat that cares about the Constitutional Republic, rights, freedoms, and liberty must get out and vote. That is the only way these radicalized apparatchiks are kept out of office, denied office, or defeat an incumbent. This is not only National elections, but state and local elections are equally important.

    • Jon Dough September 6, 2019, 8:37 am

      Absolutely !

    • bill September 6, 2019, 6:36 pm

men Sepp. if as some say there are 80 to 100 million gun owners in the US , then all we have to do is throw our vote behind on politician that supports the Constitution and The Bill of Rights. the same goes for all gun onwers in their same states. Two election cycles and the problem will be solved. the socialist…er democrats will be locked out of statewide and National offices. then the socialists…er democrats will be limited to anal openings like frisco, l.a., chicago, nyc, blatimore and boston.

      • d basmajian September 8, 2019, 11:52 am

This comment above hit the nail on the head. The only way to stop these unrealistic SOB liberals is to vote them out of office !
