Wastrel Wisconsin Lawmakers Introduce Confiscatory Gun Bill

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors Current Events S.H. Blannelberry This Week
Lisa Subeck. Wisconsin state lawmaker and wastrel.

Lisa Subeck. Wisconsin state lawmaker and wastrel.

Not that you need it, but for clarification, a “wastrel” is a good-for-nothing person. Or, in other words, someone who would say the following:

“I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a semiautomatic assault weapon,” — Rep. Lisa Subeck, co-sponsor of a Wisconsin Assembly bill that would ban many widely popular and commonly owned modern sporting rifles.

That’s correct. Rep. Subeck is a wastrel. As are her cohorts, Reps. Terese Berceau, Melissa Sargent and Chris Taylor, all of whom also supported the confiscatory gun bill that could, if passed, turn many law-abiding gun owners into felons.

A portion of the official Analysis of the bill reads as follows:

This bill bans the transportation, purchase, possession, or transfer of a semiautomatic assault weapon and specifically defines “assault weapon” for the purpose of the ban. Under the bill, whoever transports, purchases, possesses, or transfers a semiautomatic assault weapon is guilty of a felony and may be fined up to $10,000, sentenced to a term of imprisonment of up to six years, or both.

Yes. You read that correctly. Citizens who own these “assault weapons” would have really two choices were the legislation to become law: 1. Get rid of the prohibited firearm (Turn it over to the government, render it permanently inoperable or sell it out of state) or 2. Maintain possession of the prohibited firearm and run the risk of becoming a felon.

It’s crazy. But, hey, according to the Wisconsin wastrels, it’s all part of keeping the public safe.

“Wisconsin families want to know that they and their children are safe whether they are home, at school, at work, or out in the community,” said Rep. Subeck, in a press release. “This bill is one of several critical reforms needed to eliminate gun violence in our state.”

What Subeck fails to realize (or maybe simply ignores) is that there are millions of people who believe that “safety” is a term that refers to one’s preparedness to confront and eliminate a threat. As such, there are certain tools, aka firearms, that make one — depending on one’s situation — optimally safe.

By gutting one’s right to keep and bear arms and limiting one’s right to choose the best tool for the job, Subeck is actually (and ironically) making the public less safe and more vulnerable to the miscreants, thugs, and drug dealers who refuse to obey the gun laws in the first place.

It sorta goes without saying, but Subeck’s bill makes the fatal mistake that all gun control laws make in that it focuses on the hardware and not the individuals pulling the trigger. The goal ought to be to eliminate the perpetrators of violence, not the objects and tools so many Americans use to protect themselves from evildoers.

***

And as an aside, I can conceive of several legitimate reasons for one to have a modern sporting rifle:

WHY YOU NEED AN AR-15 WITH A 30 ROUND MAGAZINE!

WHY YOU NEED AN AR-15 WITH A 30 ROUND MAG PART II

WHY YOU NEED AN AR-15 WITH A 30-ROUND MAG PART III

UPDATE:

Call it democracy in action or the collective wrath of the gun community, but Subeck and her cohorts have decided to reassess their plan to ban modern sporting rifles in Wisconsin.

“After receiving feedback from some of our colleagues regarding the circulation of a preliminary draft banning semiautomatic assault weapons, the other authors of the bill and I have determined that we will work with the Legislative Reference Bureau to make some revisions to the draft bill to address some concerns that have been raised,” Subeck wrote this week.

“While LRB 3635 was not intended to impair Wisconsin’s rich hunting heritage and those who annually participate in it, our state does need to have a serious and meaningful conversation about gun violence,” she wrote. “We will be working with the Legislative Reference Bureau, Legislative Council, and others to ensure that a future bill draft corrects any drafting errors and unintended oversights to ensure more consistency with our current hunting and sporting regulations.”

Chalk that up as another victory for gun owners and the 2A!

When every government and military agency is shed of semi and fully automatic firearms, and every enemy of the USA has emptied their armories. THEN approach the American People to suggest that they give up their arms. Until everyone else hiding behind the authority of the state is disarmed, and criminals give up crime… Pound sand.

  • Martin Mancuso August 18, 2017, 9:17 am

The writer makes several critical mistakes in this article. He somehow believes that these politicians don’t know that these guns have a legitimate use. He also assumes that they don’t know that these types of guns aren’t used in crimes. The author gives these people to much credit. THEY KNOW! Their agenda is to take away the means to resist their mad power grab. It is a means to make us their subjects. They KNOW it has absolutely no effect on crime. Please don’t be so nieve or give them so much credit.

  • John Nichols December 13, 2015, 2:50 pm

Wouldn’t have made any difference if the wasterals had passed the legislation. There isn’t anything that can accurately, and legally, be called a “semi-automatic assault weapon”. Assault weapons are already controlled.

  • bbbs53 December 1, 2015, 5:31 pm

Just more of the party line, the deamonrats will take our guns. Or try, every time there is a shooting in an Illinois gun free zone it should be frontpage news. These people want us as slaves, the framers saw this coming. I don’t care what part of the damn country you are from, this is a battle that involves us all and petty squabbles among ourselves isn’t helping. This idiot is no less odious than Feinstein or Boxer or even the head moron in chief himself. Just more deluded about her “power”. Asking these people to think and then act is ignoring their collective mental disease, liberalism. So far as I know, no known treatment. How can we expect a group of mentally challenged individuals that have never even fired a firearm to understand any part of it or to protect mine or your rights? Obviously, we can’t. It is up to us to firmly stand up and say an emphatic NO to these misguided and deluded individuals which seems to be the case already as it has been withdrawn. I don’t think the firearm owners there are any less interested in losing theirs than we are about losing ours. Their are uber liberals in every state of this country, they spread like vermin. They will lie, cheat and steal to win, just like the terrorists. They are only 3% of the population, but how much of their agenda has been crammed down our throats since just 2008? I voted 3 times against “gay” marriage, did it do any good? No, and it lost all 3 times! Truth is most folks don’t want them discriminated against, but they don’t want to see it or have to be force fed it in the media. My answer is to turn it off and not use their advertisers and tell them why. Just like when a scientologist pushes a product, sorry, no sale. Your dollars will counteract liberal bull, just make sure and tell them what you are doing and why, the liberals use this tactic so why not us? If we don’t take back our rights and put our money where our mouths are then we are just a matter of time away from surrender.

Why are the female law makers that dream up such stupid stuff always are fat ugly DemoRATZ? If Hillary were elected president it would take a fortune to widen the doors in the white house so she can walk straight through and not have to turn sideways.

  • Bushmaster0369 November 17, 2015, 9:46 pm

Lisa Subeck you must be a blind, deft and speak lies. How about PARIS, next Washington D.C. and maybe your town. Just how stupid can you be depriving the honest decent law abiding citizens of your state the right to defend themselves. Guns are collectibles, entertainment, sporting and Olympic events and a source of meat for the table. Most importantly in today’s world, they are a vital means of self defense. YOU, as everyone is 911 until the law gets there. If the police shoot 30, 40 and 50 rounds at a bad guy, home owners protecting their families need the ability to drive off or kill two or three bad guys so they need these type weapons, semi-automatic, NOT fully automatic. By the way check you facts, almost anyone can legally get a fully automatic weapon following ATF rules. Duck hunters, up land bird hunters, goose hunters, pheasant hunters, rabbit hunters, squirrell hunters, deer hunters, bear hunters, moose hunters, and so on mostly use semi-automatic weapons, rifles, shot guns or pistols. Are you going to deprive all the family hunters and sports people the right to enjoy their favorite sport. Semi automatic rifles or pistols are not ASSAULT WEAPONS, only those that can be converted by a lever to fire fully automatic are assault weapons. The advertising/sales people came up with the assault weapons phrase to increase the profit margin. I am qualified to make this statement as I learned from my Grand Pa, hunted for meat for the family and with the right training progressed through the rigorous training of being a Marine for 25 years. I had the honor of being the second best medal winning rifle shot, the SILVER MEDAL in the Marine Corps. I did it with an M1 semi automatic rifle at 200, 300 and 600 yards. It’s the same one they used in WWII and Korea and even Vietnam. Just because the military uses a weapon it doesn’t make it an assault weapon. Every weapon out there single or double action shoots one round at a time except for a true assault weapon capable of firing fully automatic. You are ignorant in your background material and knowledge and your facts about defending your love ones. You don’t rate to be an elected official and you should be recalled.

  • Barry N. Schmidt, D.D.S. November 17, 2015, 10:32 am

The woman is so ignorant that trying to respond is not worth my time. First of all, “assault rifles” are technically those that have the capability of being fully automatic; these types of rifles are not made for civilian use in the first place. In the second place, the woman’s argument that even semi-automatic rifles are not useful is so ludicrous that it defies comment. I would hope that all Wisconsin gun owners (and those who have read the woman’s diatribe) send her a letter to TRY to educate her. She is a total lunkhead who couldn’t get a decent job in the private sector.

My AR in .223 is perfect for ground squirrels and coyotes, and (surprise, surprise) it works quite well for this purpose. Similar model rifles are made for larger animals and in larger calibers, but obviously, El Stupido is not interested in this or other facts.

  • Howard Van Dine November 16, 2015, 11:54 am

I’m continually amazed at the lack of knowledge some people have regarding types of weapons and the realities of what the gun control results actually are!! Talk about the Ostrich effect!!

  • Ken fox November 16, 2015, 7:59 am

Two things: the right to bare arms and France has confiscated guns.

  • Donald Later November 16, 2015, 12:19 am

Sounds just like pre-Nazi Germany . This bill says you cannot transfer or transport the banned weapon. So how do you get rid of it? Turning it over to the government is a transfer. Getting it to the turn in point is transporting. They got you no matter what you do. So keep it and do something to protect your rights! That is write and phone your state legislators!

This thread has EASILY the most responses of any thread I have read anywhere.

    1. Coloradans threw out two anti-gun simpletons in 2013 when they exceeded their authority. Michael Bloomberg spent more than 5 times the money trying to save the two legislators than the Colorado recallers did getting them out. It can happen again.

    2. Tom Daschle woke up on November 3, 2004 to find out he was no longer a US Senator nor the Senate Majority Leader. (Fun fact: Daschle’s assistant was none other than Harry Reid.) Maybe Subeck will get “Daschlized.” He is still trying to swill from the government trough.

    3. One day, I was sitting at the controls of a small aircraft, waiting to go out for an examination flight. I must have been mindlessly wiggling the control yoke when my irritated instructor said, “Don’t move the controls just to be moving them!” I have used that bit of philosophy ever since and highly commend it to Ms. Subeck and her ilk. Control is given to our various legislators to use for the good of the people, not to be mindlessly manipulated just to show everyone that someone is in the cockpit.

    4. I live near Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Several months ago, the local news outlets were all abuzz with a story of two boys in Broken Arrow, the Bever brothers, 16 and 18 years old, who brutally murdered both parents and three of their siblings. Not one shot was fired by either boy. They stabbed their victims a total of 100 times! Why was there no call for banning knives after that? I think the only non-local outlet to mention the story was Fox News and that report was short. Why is that? Because no guns were involved? Because it didn’t further liberalism’s agenda?

    5. Finally, it has never been about guns. Or knives. Or baseball bats. Or fists (for pity’s sake). It has ALWAYS been about why some among us choose to use violence against other humans to solve their problems. Until we make people understand that violence will not work, this evil will continue, no matter how many or what type weapons are banned.

Does anyone ever consider stating the irrefutable facts of law in regard to the opinion of this Wisconsin legislator, and others who advance that foolish question about any type of firearm?
Article 1, Section 8, Clause 15&16 are a site of the mandatory function of a Militia. Regardless of those who believe in the constitutionally impossible “unorganized militia”, those 2 clauses cannot be changed in any way other than the amendment process that is outlined in Article 5. That means that the congress cannot use wording foreign to the Constitution, nor can they unorganize, disarm, or disband the Militia that has the authority “to execute the Laws of the Union”. The Congress can, however, grant the states the authority “to keep troops”. Troops who do not have the awesome power of the Militia “to execute the Laws of the Unions, suppress Insurrections, or repel Invasions”, but are instead part of the regular army under Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3, and subject to the civil authority. Militia can use its power to arrest “upon probable cause” any and all violators of the oath of office.
Why do we need such weapons? The delegated authority written into the Constitution specifically reads, “To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining the Militia”, the only body that both the state and federal constitutions recognize as having the power “to execute the Laws of the Union”.
Since the state and federal governments have usurped that power through deceit and misapplication of the Constitution, it is only logical that “We the People” must have the will and resources “to alter or to abolish” a government “destructive” of the rights of the People as clearly stated in our first law; “A Declaration”.
Militia, an authority usurped by the state, were required to own, maintain, and train with “all the terrible implements of the soldier”.

“I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a semiautomatic assault weapon.”

Make some minor substitutions, and see how ridiculous this is:

“I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need so many Christian religions – we can safely abolish Seventh Day Adventism and the Mormon Church.”

“I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to read that particular book, we can safely ban it.”

It’s called the “Bill of Rights,” not the “Bill of Needs.”

  • Pro2Aguy November 14, 2015, 2:52 pm

I can conceive on no possible reason that Representative should be consuming way too many calories…? Mind you here that I am not being facetious but, on the contrary, making her illogical argument to illuminate its fallacy. Obesity in America is killing more people than guns so under her applied logic we should have “mandatory confiscation” of people’s pantries (and or Restaurants) if they are guilty of surpassing their respective “NORMAL” caloric daily intake and wind up looking like Madam Subeck whereby every added pound of fat renders her or people suffering same condition increasingly vulnerable to heart disease, diabetes etc.

To reiterate, please do not interpret the aforementioned as ignorant or lacking proper decorum–it’s simply her logic applied to another even more deadly “problem.”

  • Mike November 14, 2015, 1:35 pm

Neither the President (including a Criminal USURPER), Congress, the Senate, Supreme Court Justices, Federal Judges, nor the States, nor their Govenors and Mayors even through Laws Bills Amendments, Mandates, Executive Orders, and Even through Treaties, THEY STILL DO NOT POSSESS THE POWER TO Supersede, Bypass, Over ride, or USURP the Constitution, the Bill of Rights or our Sovereignty. They are all FORBIDDEN to”Waring Against the Constitution” to which they are all BOUND Article 6 Section 3. They are all operating OUTSIDE the Constitution in clear violation to their SWORN OATH giving themselves powers and authorities “they do not have”, making Contracts and Agreements with Foreign Governments and Enemy Agents for which “they have no Legal, Lawful or Constitutional power to make” (also in violation of the Logan Act) and are allowing these enemies to “Control Them” to overthrow our Nation for nothing but power and greed no matter who they hurt to enslave our Nation our people and the world into a Perverted Criminal Nazi NWO. They all Bow to a known proven Criminal Fraud USURPER as President (Just being Criminally ignored), provide aide and comfort to our enemies put our Allies into harms way, and have allowed our enemies to compromise our Government from within which makes them all Criminal Felons guilty of Sedition, Treason, Mis Prison of Treason, Conspiracy to Overthrow in addition to many other charges. They all need to be Immediately Mass Arrested and imprisoned for life and/or Hung at the Gallows….. We do have laws against Treason and we need to use them. They were not written just to give us something pretty to read on a rainy day!
Globalist 10 point plan to take down America….. its Treason and they all MUST be arrested! They are nothing but Public Servants gone ROGUE! http://www.thecommonsenseshow.com/2015/07/03/the-globalist-ten-point-plan-to-destroy-america/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-globalist-ten-point-plan-to-destroy-america

The following are two of the greatest lies the globalists continue to push upon the American people. Those lies are: “Treaties supersede the U.S. Constitution”.and: “A treaty, once passed, cannot be set aside”.
HERE ARE THE CLEAR IRREFUTABLE FACTS: The U.S. Supreme Court has made it very clear that:

    1) Treaties do not override the U.S. Constitution. 2) Treaties cannot amend the Constitution. And last,3) A treaty can be nullified by a statute passed by the U.S. Congress (or by a sovereign State or States if Congress refuses to do so), when the State deems a treaty the performance of a treaty is self-destructive. The law of self-preservation overrules the law of obligation in others. When you’ve read this thoroughly, hopefully, you will never again sit quietly by when someone — anyone — claims that treaties supercede the Constitution. Help to dispell this myth.”This [Supreme] Court has regularly and uniformly recognized the supremacy of the Constitution over a treaty.” – Reid v. Covert, October 1956, 354 U.S. 1, at pg 17.

This case involved the question: Does the NATO Status of Forces Agreement (treaty) supersede the U.S. Constitution? Keep reading. The Reid Court (U.S. Supreme Court) held in their Opinion that,
“… No agreement with a Foreign Nation can confer power on the Congress, or any other branch of government, which is free from the restraints of the Constitution. Article VI, the Supremacy clause of the Constitution declares, “This Constitution and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all the Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land…’

“There is nothing in this language which intimates that treaties and laws enacted pursuant to them do not have to comply with the provisions of the Constitution nor is there anything in the debates which accompanied the drafting and ratification which even suggest such a result… “It would be manifestly contrary to the objectives of those who created the Constitution, as well as those who were responsible for the Bill of Rights – let alone alien to our entire constitutional history and tradition – to construe Article VI as permitting the United States to exercise power UNDER an international agreement, without observing constitutional prohibitions. (See: Elliot’s Debates 1836 ed. – pgs 500-519).”In effect, such construction would permit amendment of that document in a manner not sanctioned by Article V. The prohibitions of the Constitution were designed to apply to all branches of the National Government and they cannot be nullified by the Executive or by the Executive and Senate combined.”

Did you understand what the Supreme Court said here? No Executive Order, Presidential Directive, Executive Agreement, no NAFTA, GATT/WTO agreement/treaty, passed by ANYONE, can supersede the Constitution. FACT. No question!

Wether its the Treaty, NDAA, TTP, Obama Care, Gun Control and the recent rulings of the Supreme Court:

They are criminally in bed with and are allowing themselves to be controlled by foreign Governments and Enemy Agents in bed with England and the Vatican the Bilderbergs NWO, George Soros, Rothchild’s, Rockefeller’s, and openly support a New World Order Agenda that is TREASON against the very Nation they SWORE TO PROTECT AND DEFEND and “Making War Against the Constitution”, America and the American people …. see Davis vs Weschler, Miranda vs Arizona, Sherer vs Cullen, Norton vs Shelby County, Cooper vs Aaron. ANYONE of these Judges, Congressmen, Senetors, anyone throughout our entire National Security Appirattis are all FORBIDDEN to “War Against the Constitution” without Violating the undertaking of their Sworn Oath to support and uphold it Article 6 Section 3 to which they are BOUND! Everything they do in Violation to their Oath and the Constitution is NULL and VOID!

Davis vs Wechsler, 263 US 22, 24……. “Where Rights Secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no rule making or legislation which would Abrogate them”!

Article 1 Section 7 Clause 2 ……………. Of the Constitution ….. The Origional Constitution of our ForeFathers….NOT….. the Illegally created and re written USA CORPORATION Constitution 1871 created illegally and forced upon the people without their knowledge and consent by King George and his whores in the 41st Congress. Article 1 Section 7 Clause 2 was deliberately re written because the New World Order Left does not want you to know these things and here below is the origional:

No laws of Congress are valid

“Congress can pass no law while a usurper pretends to occupy “the Office of President. ”The Constitution provides that “[e]very Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States ” (Article I, Section 7, Clause 2). Not to a usurper posturing as “the President of the United States,” but to the true and rightful President. If no such true and rightful President occupies the White House, no “Bill” will or can, “before it become a Law, be presented to [him].” If no “Bill” is so presented, no “Bill” will or can become a “Law.” And any purported “Law” that the usurper “approve[s]” and “sign[s],” or that Congress passes over the usurper’s “Objections,” will be a nullity. Thus, if Obama deceitfully “enters office” as an usurper, (Which he did with the Criminal Assistance of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reed and the DNC and others already proven just being Criminally ignored) will be rendered effectively impotent for as long as it acquiesces in his pretenses as “President.””

Furthermore, Obama Could not be Removed Except by Force. As a USURPER posturing as “the President,” Congress cannot even impeach Obama because, not being the actual President, he cannot be “removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors” (see Article II, Section 4). In that case, some other public officials would have to arrest him—with physical force, if he would not go along quietly—in order to prevent him from continuing his imposture. Obviously, this could possibly lead to armed conflicts within the General Government itself, or among the States and the people. (This must happen there is no other way)

ALSO, Bear in mind, that as an imposter Commander–in-Chief of the Armed Forces, “he will be entitled to no obedience whatsoever from anyone in those Armed forces and Law Enforcment. Indeed, for officers or men to follow any of his purported “orders” including law enforcement will constitute a serious breach of military discipline—and in extreme circumstances even charged with “war crimes.” In addition, no one in any civilian agency in the Executive Branch of the General Government (s) will be required to put into effect any of Obama’s purported “proclamations,” “executive orders,” or “directives” (Viera, J.).

The Constitution weather they chose to ignore it “is the Supreme Law of this Land” and they are BOUND to it Article 6 Section 3 and are all FORBIDDEN to “warring Against it”….all they do is NULL and VOID not to mention they have been Criminally DeFacto since 1871! Everything that has been done since 2008 is also NULL and VOID as well as everything that has been done since 1871! Because it, the installation of their Criminal USA CORPORATION, the Criminal and Deliberate re writing of our Constitution, and the selling of our Birth Cirtificates on the Open Stock Market was done Deliberately, Criminally to Deceive and Defraud the American People and FORCE THEM into a British & Vatican, Illuminati Controlled Debt Fraud Slavery (Maritine) System wthout the KNOWLEDGE and without the CONSENT of the American People…..2 things required to make any contract legally binding! It was an act of High Treason and they had no Legal Lawful or Constitutional power to do anything they did……its NULL and VOID and EVERYTHING they have done to advance their Criminal Satanic Nazi New World Order since 1871 (which are also Criminally Subversive Open Acts of High Treason) behind the backs of the American People ie., the passing of Laws, Bills, Amendments, Executive Orders, Mandates, and Treaties are also NULL AND VOID! Hence, the Origional 1776 Constitution of our Fore Fathers is STILL LEGALLY IN PLAY and very much alive!
What this Criminally DeFacto Tyranical Government is keeping from you…..

Interesting comments, most of them. Another thought . . . it’s rather ironic that Connecticut, one of the worst states for gun owners, is known as the Constitution State. Guess the lawmakers there and much of the citizenry have forgotten what that means.

  • ken November 13, 2015, 9:56 pm

under no circumstances will any law put into place by a state legislature deem the United States Constitution invalid. Therefore, under NO circumstances should anyone, including myself, give up their guns. To disarm the public is to make the public defenseless. To take away a law abiding citizens right to defend him/her self is to immediately force upon that person the status of possible victim. The government has no right to take away our constitutional right to freedom to bare arms. The only reason this action would happen is if the government is trying to disarm its citizens in order to take complete control leading to either socialist, communist, or military state where only the governing body and those within the upper elite class are allowed weapons. Should any person with a clear conscience support the disarming of America and it’s citizens, they need to be evaluated as a possible terrorist to the constitution.

It’s no longer enough to say guns don’t kill people, people kill people and then do nothing to see that the wrong people don’t get guns. Either you run background checks on people who kill people or you’re just opposed to any solution. FYI, I own 10 guns. However, I don’t support the idea that a nut job is treated equal to me.

My God that woman’s fat, and maybe the heat that she generates is frying her brain and single handedly causing global warming. She like most liberals hate our nation and want to overthrow it and our Constitution, specifically in the case, OUR 2nd Amendment. That makes her and them, enemies of our nation, and there’s a way to deal with enemies that try to overthrow our nation. There’s a way to deal with such enemies. And in leaving, that reminds me of an old joke, although I can’t remember how it goes, but it involves fat women, and the punch line involves rolling them around in flour and then trying to find the wet spot.

I can see no reason why this woman, fat as porky the pig, should not be prohibited from fattening food. She doesn’t like the size of magazines of guns well she should look at her obvious psychological situation with food before she starts lecturing others. In her case food is dangerous.

QUOTE “I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a semiautomatic assault weapon,” — Rep. Lisa Subeck”

You are missing the biggest problem with banning something…IT DOESN’T WORK. (BTW the term “assault weapon” is a political term. Try going to a gun shop and ask for a “assault weapon”, they won’t have any.)

I can see from your perspective that YOU don’t think you need a semiautomatic rifle, the problem is that YOU aren’t everyone.
Remember the Watts riots? Remember the LA Riots? Mobs of people looting & killing. Or more recently Katrina, again with mobs looting & killing. People said that they managed to keep looters away, only because they had semi auto’s with large magazines.
Also we have the Haymarket massacre, Lattimer Massacre, Ludlow Massacre, Bay View Massacre, and the Battle of Athens. Examples go on & on where people needed to defend themselves.

Sure there’s always going to be a few that will make it look bad, but there is no need to punish the majority of honest gun owners, or pass laws that will make them criminals too.

  • Dan Maple November 13, 2015, 6:36 pm

    Ms. Subeck,

I can conceive no legitimate reason why you should eat 3 meals a day when there are so many homeless and hungry people in this country who some haven’t had a meal in 2 – 4 days. Your opinion is just that I have many friends in Wis.and unless you have a plan to put a police officer in every house to protect each and every voter. Go after the criminals or are you flipping sides and protecting criminals? Leave law abiding citizens alone and work on fixing real problems or go home. Assault weapon is your opinion maybe you should read the laws and cases Homeland Security have dealt with and how they stated what is not an assault weapon in their own words. I could give you the case and file # but I think you need to read and do your job for a change.

  • Jeff Miner November 13, 2015, 6:32 pm

In fact we need more common sense laws like Isreal has. They require at least one person in the group when you go out to be armed. This stops attacks against civilians as they are ready to stop violence. They carry fully automatic rifles such as the IWI Trevor 223. I have a friend that visited Isreal when on a leave from the military and observed this first had. A Group of about 6 at a bar and one was the designated non drinker armed with the full auto IWI Trevor. Israel knows how to protect its civilians and state against violent attacks. Of course everyone has to be trained in the military so they are educated. Being prepared is the answer to stop terrorism.

  • Jeffrey Miner November 13, 2015, 5:54 pm

I can give her a reason. History should not repeat it self because you are uneducated. This was the same thought process that led Germany to power in 1921 – 1945 era when they confiscated the people guns so they could not stop NAZI takeover and murders of Millions of innocent people that could not defend themselves. Banned books and killed those that did not think like them. Then the world blamed the I ice t civilians that stood by and did nothing to stop Hitler when it was no longer in their power to do so be their guns were confiscated. Ignorance at its best is what kills and loses human rights.

  • john November 13, 2015, 5:31 pm

a semi automatic rifle or hand gun are not assault weapons no matter what they look like. i am a vietnam veteran, 101st airborne. no one attacks a position with a semi automatic weapon. an assault weapon is always full auto. i have a nice remington semi auto in 30/06. it has a scope that is 3x12x56 ir. which is more dangerous thirty ought six or an ar-15 that shoots .223 remington? there is no logic here.

    • Lysa November 13, 2015, 6:19 pm

  • Corey Ricketts November 13, 2015, 5:28 pm

Just because she cannot conceive any reason why anyone should own a sport rifle doesn’t mean that it should be outlawed or our american 2nd amendment rights infringed on. I can’t conceive any reason for a rich 1 percenter to own 10expensive sports cars but they do and still people get in car wrecks today. I dont see a law trying to take anyone’s car or alcohol. Just because you don’t understand something doesn’t make it wrong. I was given the training and skills to operate some of these so called illegal firearms and now you wanna say I can’t own one. I wanna be able to protect my family to the best of my ability. My government taught me how and told me were to point it and shoot it and now I cant own it. People kill people driving cars everyday but I don’t see you outlawing cars, you just train and make people aware of what not to do and how to use it. It is the same with firearms, there should be more training and awareness about what to and what not to do.

  • Ronhart November 13, 2015, 5:09 pm

I knew this was coming!! We should never have given women the right to vote – much less run for public office! Did this woman take an oath to support and uphold the US Constitution? Probably did to get the job, but when we vote in illiterates it doesn’t matter. Lock and load and let’s get ready!! As a twenty year military veteran I am ready to put on the uniform again to defend MY country from traitors like this.

I can think of no reason why anyone would need or want a multi-hundred horsepower automobile, etc, etc. How about, in the ‘land of the free’, because I want one? As long as it (any particular thing) is being used lawfully, it’s none of their business! When it isn’t used lawfully, deal with the lawbreaker. “No HONEST person has anything to fear from a law abiding citizen with a gun!” (no matter what kind)

  • loupgarous November 13, 2015, 2:00 pm

This isn’t about weight, nor is it about Yankee vs. Rebel (one of my US Senators, from here in the South, routinely gives Barack Obama all the support you’d expect from Minnesota’s Al Franken – while running as a Republican, and it’s only recently that across the state line, Louisiana scraped Mary Landrieu, another Obama tool, off their shoe).

It’s about utter willingness to make laws based on emotions, and not facts. If you look at Wisconsin’s own violent crime statistics, ALL rifles and shotguns taken together – single-shot, semi-auto, lever action, pump-action, you-name-it – were used to kill ten people in the last year for which the FBI released statistics. Hands, feet, shoving, and other bodily contact killed six times as many people in Wisconsin that year.

The four sponsors of this bill (you’ll notice this bill seems to be dying for lack of co-sponsors or other support) are fixated on the appearance of the weapon, not its actual use
Instead of worrying about the fat around her midriff, wouldn’t it be more constructive to talk about the fat between her ears? Some us like a soft woman – “shade in the summer, warmth in the winter…. “

  • Leonard S. Feinman November 13, 2015, 1:54 pm

I fail to see an association between semi-auto rifles like the AR-15 and crime. I know some crimes are committed with guns, but I also know that guns stop criminals from trying.

I would also point out that Lee Harvey Oswald managed to get off three very accurate shots with a bolt action rifle very quickly.

  • Stephen Challis November 13, 2015, 1:53 pm

  • John Champion November 13, 2015, 1:33 pm

We need to stop calling semi-automatic rifles “ASSAULT weapons”!!!… It’s the same as calling an automobile an ASSAULT VEHICLE… A baseball bat, or golf club an assault weapon ! Simply because something CAN be used in an assault doesn’t define it as such!!! More leftist/liberal dementia!

  • Andrew N. November 13, 2015, 1:33 pm

I see no need for an automobile that can exceed the maximum speed limit in the U.S. Cars kill far more people than so-called “Assault” weapons, so I guess it’s bye-bye to all performance cars. As a non-drinker, I also see no need for alcoholic beverages. I also can’t take NSAID’s anymore so let’s ban those too! I also don’t have cancer, so we should eliminate all cancer research as it’s a waste of money until “I” get cancer. What an idiot. As a male, I’ve never used a tampon either, but I think a good alternative use would be to stuff as many as necessary to plug this woman’s mouth.

  • James Summers November 13, 2015, 1:16 pm

Why haven’s the gun owning citizens of the state of Wisconsin risen up in a united cause and anger and recalled the politicos who have made an attempt to crush their rights.
Or is it just lip service and no action. Sit in the corner and whine about the problem till it becomes law.
Get rid of them now, politicians work for the people but have assumed the PURPLE and feel they are the masters.

    Laws governing recall in Wisconsin
The citizens of Wisconsin are granted the authority to perform a recall election by Section 12 of Article XIII of the Wisconsin Constitution. This section was added to the Wisconsin Constitution in 1926; it was amended in April 1981.

§§9.1 0(1) and (3), Wis. Stats. are the statutory expression of how recall campaigns are to be conducted in Wisconsin.

  • WiscPatriot November 13, 2015, 1:14 pm

Unless Ms. Subeck has a condition like Hypothyroidism, then she really should use restraint in what she consumes. She may fear people that legally own semi-automatic rifles, but I fear people who put themselves at risk of Diabetes. When these people have a sudden spike or drop in blood sugar levels, they can become unstable, incoherent or even unconscious! What happens if she is driving and passes out and slams into a school bus filled with children? Ms. Subeck would then be a true danger to society because of her reckless, irresponsible use of food that led to her condition that created a life-threatening hazard to any and all around her. I think some other Wisconsin Representative should immediately draft a bill to ban excessive consumption of food! Please act quickly to protect lives! Save us from dangerous gluttons who assault complete packages of donuts in one pull of the twisty tie! This must stop now!

Home girl Subeck has definitely had way too much sugar. It’s affected her thinking and her body…. Most likely she has nothing else to do but come up with idiotic concepts and ideals….these are the type of people who get involved and voted into office and make decisions based on their thoughts and perceptions of things they are too lazy to research. From the looks of her stature I would say the only true knowledge of firearms she and the other constituents involved in her circle jerk of chocolate eclairs have formed opinions from a limited amount of knowledge of what firearms are and how they function in the hands of a lawful citizens hands. She’s full of it just like the rest of the ignorant people who spout off about guns. Attack the real problems with firearms…. The criminal element that uses them as tools of their lawlessness. Taking away guns is like opening Pandora’s box for criminals. Subeck, stick to what you know best…food!!

    • Mahatma Muhjesbude November 22, 2015, 2:39 pm

Exactly. There’s not even any ‘crime’ in Madison. First thing I’d query of the Wastrel CB (and i don’t mean Corpulent Bitch) is to show one incident where someone took any so-called ‘assault gun’ and went on a shooting spree with it in Wisconsin? Even the ‘real’ full auto AR-15 assault weapon that the BATF got stolen from their Milwaukee asset forfeiture/seizure drug ‘sting’, last year wasn’t used in any shootings and i don’t know if they even recovered it yet?

Madison does not represent most of the Rest of the State of Wisconsin. But it’s an enclave of militant leftist socialism that is an illegitimate spawn of Kalifornia. These are being ‘fertilized’ everywhere throughout the country, usually in major cities and this is how they keep getting ‘universal background checks’ aka illegal gun registration, passed throughout the country. I think 18 or 19 states now, and counting. Of course it helps to have the likes of Leftist Bloomberg billionaires coughing up unlimited campaign financing for these traitors.

  • Mark Tercsak November 13, 2015, 12:56 pm

The madam Law-Maker should spend sometime doing her job, which starts off with knowing the United States Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, Those founding fathers who were for and against these documents or aspects of. and know the federal Law. Not only is it our God Given right to own Arms but it is also our duty to we are all Citizzen Soldiers under the United States 1903 National Guard & Militia Act ofically the Act is knows as the ” The Effciency In Militia Act Of 1903″ This Act created the modern National Guard System, The act provided federal funds to the new National Guard System that organized it’s self along the lines to the regular United States Army. This act repealed all former Militia Acts, and divided the Militia in to two groups the inactive reserve militia, which includes all able bodied u.s. male citizens age 17 to 45 years of age, I’am pretty certain the age requirement has been ammended and is now higher, The other militia unit is the organized militia, which includes state militia units and (national guard) units, they are also required to perform exact same traing as regular U.S. Army, also under this act The United States Government is supposed to provide Rifle ranges near large towns and also military rifles and training to the public along with live target rifle fire.

There are several texts of the Second Amendment, but in my view there is but one that is legal, the one that was ratified by the Respective States in which we reside and Authenicated by Thomas Jefferson Acting then as United States Secretary Of State.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. What this means is the respective states in which we reside have not only a right but a duty to defend it’s self and it’s citizens, The second part of this Amendment which the Socialist ~ Bolsheviks seem to forget is, that we the people also have not only the right but the duty to defend our republic, our selves and our loved ones . I guess this law maker was more interested in eating doughnuts than paying attention in class ? , By the way the very last pharse shall not be infringed is meant for who ? it is meant for the supposed Law-makers like this one it is illegal for you to make gun laws !

  • Laary Prom November 13, 2015, 12:54 pm

Ain’t the fat around her waist that’s the issue. It’s the fat between her ears which is slowing the rest of her brain down.

Wisconsin lost a whole SEVEN people to murderous rifle fire in the last year for which the FBI offered statistics. FBI doesn’t break “rifle” down further to “hunting rifle,” “antique,” “bolt-action military curio,” and the dreaded “semi-automatic military-looking black gun” which evidently fills the nightmares of that bill’s four co-sponsors, but I’d be willing to be that no more than ONE “assault weapon” was actually used to commit murder in Wisconsin that year, and make a side bet that NONE were.

  • JD November 13, 2015, 12:20 pm

  • WiscPatriot November 13, 2015, 12:20 pm

First, may I ask the residents of Subeck’s 78th District (where else? Madison, WI of course!) to please begin with haste a recall petition to remove this Progressive Liberal from office ASAP! Also, begin recall petitions for Reps. Terese Berceau, Melissa Sargent and Chris Taylor. They do not deserve to represent anyone in Wisconsin. While there are many great things about Madison, WI, these are four are not. Madison, like many large university towns, has gone off the rails long ago with Progressive/Marxist disease. Go North of Madison and Milwaukee and you will find the real Wisconsin.

I was born and have lived in Wisconsin my entire life. I cannot believe one of our elected officials would be so completely stupid as to even try to push through legislation such as this! These idiot liberals need to be educated time and again that these are NOT assault rifles! They are semi-automatic rifles, and yes, they do have the capacity for large magazines, but they are still semi-automatic firearms. Maybe this analogy would help these scare-mongers to understand. If you put a 4-cylinder engine in a Corvette, it may look nice on the outside, but it isn’t what it appears on the inside.

Unless there is a “Full Auto” or multiple burst mode on the fire selector, it is just a semi-automatic rifle.
When the Jihadists start to strike in various places with more frequency, the liberal cities will be ripe for terror because of the idiots who continue to work to take away our 2nd Amendment rights when we need it the most! If the Libs want to do something that works…enforce the laws regarding gun crimes. Stop slapping these felons on the wrist.

  • Lysa November 13, 2015, 11:49 am

This is a slippery slope. Not everyone who is fat eats at McDonalds or Krispy Kreme. Maybe try a different approach. Instead of a personal attack on this lady’s muffin top and name calling, perhaps just stick to the fact that more people in this country die from obesity related causes than from guns? OR how about let’s be smarter than these elected officials and try spreading some education. For example: The AR in “AR-15” stands for ArmaLite rifle, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. “AR” does NOT stand for “assault rifle” or “automatic rifle.” AR-15-style rifles are NOT “assault weapons” or “assault rifles.” According to the “urban dictionary they ARE considered assault rifles but I hope to God these officials are NOT getting their facts for their arguments from the URBAN DICTIONARY lol. Or maybe in a professional manner explain how the “type” of gun isn’t the problem- FOR EXAMPLE: my friend Lee Anne Little’s family owns a business that has been around FOREVER! It was just robbed for the SECOND time this year by someone with a BB GUN…. We are in Maryland and everyone knows that Maryland has the strictest most ridiculous gun laws in the country…. “you can own an AR-15 but it has to be a heavy barrel, you’re not allowed to have magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, you can buy a long gun of any kind cash and carry w/ a background check from anywhere but it takes about 2 months to go through the process to buy a handgun.” Just saying, we as responsible, educated gun owners should not respond to these types of articles like the uneducated, terrorist, rednecks that these elected officials CLEARLY think we are. ~ Lysa

  • Davey November 13, 2015, 11:47 am

I think all that this woman needs to restrict is herself from buffets.

  • Luke November 13, 2015, 11:37 am

Maybe some background about these people is important since the electorate in Madison, Wisconsin finds them so appealing. Assembly Districts 48 (Melissa Sargent), 76 (Chris Taylor) 77 (Terese Berceau) and 78 (Lisa Subeck) are adjacent to each other and make up about 75% of the Madison area.

And, here’s a few cherry-picked pieces of information about these people. Berceau is a career politician and the oldest of the bunch (DOB 1950): she was a county commissioner for a few terms. The others are an almost even-age cohort: all born in ’69 or so. Taylor was born & raised in Southern California before graduating from somewhere in Pennsylvania and then moving to Wisconsin. Subeck has a BA in psychology. Sargent wants to legalize pot and has four sons. None of these politicians won their offices by slim margins: they are majorly liberal democrats in almost all their stripes and voters apparently love them. Berceau has been 77th AD Rep since 1998, The others are relatively new to their posts: Sargent since 2012, Taylor since 2012(?) and Subeck since 2014. This information is from their websites (hope I copied it right).

That said, this whole issue speaks to the ignorance and/or illiteracy of their constituents, (as it apparently also does in many parts of the United States). It also speaks to the politician’s arrogance (surprise!?). After all, this is Madison, Wisconsin: home of the renowned University of Wisconsin where objectivity, critical thinking and discretion are no longer a part of the curriculum. Woo. What’d I say!?

The scary part of these kinds of legislative drafts and proposals is that ignorant educated people support the politician attempting to do the damage in other efforts as well. I don’t understand this level of stupidity and arrogance. I could grasp it better maybe if it was a kid, say 17-25 years old, proposing this kind of nonsense. (Kids used to be zealous about half-baked convictions). But, these ain’t kids. They’re sure acting like irresponsible kids though.

  • David November 13, 2015, 11:31 am

It is funny & interesting that a woman would want to ban the one weapon most women can be trained to shoot well. As a Police Trainer my female officers loved the AR-15 and showed marked improvement in their shooting over shotguns and handguns.

“I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a semiautomatic assault weapon,” — Rep. Lisa Subeck, co-sponsor of a Wisconsin Assembly bill that would ban many widely popular and commonly owned modern sporting rifles.

Apparently Ms. Subeck has not read the Declaration of Independence or the quotes from the Founding Fathers on why the 2nd Amendment is there.

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
    Declaration of Independence 1776

“I hope, therefore, a bill of rights will be formed to guard the people against the Federal government as they are already guarded against their State governments, in most instances.”
Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1788

“As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people duly before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the next article in their right to keep and bear their private arms.”
Tench Coxe (1755-1824), writing as “A Pennsylvanian,” in “Remarks On The First Part Of The Amendments To The Federal Constitution,” in the _Philadelphia Federal Gazette,_ June 18, 1789, p.2 col.1

“The right of a citizen to keep and bear arms has justly been considered the palladium of the liberties of the republic, since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers, and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them.”
Joseph Story (1779-1845) U.S. Supreme Court Justice 1811-1845. His Dad was one of the Sons of Liberty who took part in the Boston Tea Party and fought at Lexington & Concord in 1775. The above quote was from 1833

She needs to be asked how many people she is prepared to kill in order to create this utopia she and her legislative colleagues want to make in their image and likeness. People will not comply and will resist them. In order for their vision to be implemented, they will have to use force as tyrants always do. So the question remains, how many people is she willing to kill in order to bring this about.

  • Chief November 13, 2015, 10:54 am

I believe the gun owners of Wisconsin will take care of her and her co-sponsors at election time as they did in Co.
HOWEVER, please keep in mind what will happen if Hillary wins .An extremely liberal supreme court justice will be appointed, we will be out voted and you can imagine what will happen to our rights with the added continued destruction Obummer has wrought upon this Country these past 7 years .

  • Tom November 13, 2015, 10:49 am

I can think of One Very good reason for those rifles, and that is as the Declaration of Independence says, to Protect ourselves, the People, from a Tyrannous Govt, which seems to also be this lady. If we surrender our power of the people to Govt. then we become subjects of said power.. No thank you.. Unfortunately that is what the Bible says is going to happen. The Beast religious/political Govt. controls buying and selling based on whether you worship that beast on Sunday or not. It will control financial transactions because cash will be no longer used, control the internet, your speech, water rights, monitor your location by way of phone, computer, automobile, and record all your calls and internet use. The rise of the New Dark Ages coming upon the world, the new Babylon..

    2. The legislator would do more good to limit the caloric of people in her state and changing eating habits to be more healthy — maybe she should start with herself. Better yet, ban forks and spoons. It would do more good.
    3. Since every mass shooting in the country since the early ’50s with the exception of one occurred in gun free zones, Wisconsin should start with banning gun free zones. It would have a more positive effect on safety.
    4. Safety is not a right. And, with the trend that safety is a right, there is nothing government cannot do under the guise of making life safer, and freedom is doomed.

“I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a semiautomatic assault weapon,”

I can: Try six million dead jews.

In my part of the country we would call her and her cohorts (and all the other gun grabbers) “Culls”. Steers so worthless they have to be cut from the herd to save the rest and left behind to fend for them selves.

  • Tim November 13, 2015, 10:36 am

I sell firearms and have for about 8 years now. First of all, “assault weapons” is inappropriate, it is a media created term used to scare people. Many gun owners still think that AR stands for “assault rifle,” but it doesn’t, it stands for Armalite which was the company that first produced the style of gun created by Stoner. The next thing I want to say, is that I can think of many reasons while an AR rifle is probably the best rifle to own. I like to call it a “sport utility rifle” because it can be used for many purposes. I have sold this style of rifle to families that don’t have a lot of money but want a rifle that is versatile and can be used in many applications. The .223 cartridge that most AR’s use is just a beefy .22 caliber round. Though it was designed for military (as all rifles have been (including muzzelloaders)) to take down a man, a white-tail deer is about the size of a man so this style of rifle is fast becoming the hunting rifle of choice. Having an adjustable stock makes it a great family gun that can be custom fitted for children, for momma and for daddy. The rifle also has a buffer tube that significantly reduces recoil, which makes it comfortable for even kids to shoot. Joe Biden was wrong about the recoil of an AR as opposed to a shotgun. The AR rifle can be used for self-protection in the home if you use hollow-points (FMJ or full metal jacket rounds will go through walls of house) which are less likely to go completely through walls into rooms where innocent people may be. It is a great varmint gun as many farmers and ranchers deal with all kinds of varmints that destroy their crops and live stock. It is often called the “Lego blocks” of guns because it can be customized to fit the needs of the individual. You can even change the barrel and shoot some other caliber’s which increases your hunting and other shooting sports applications. And there is also some misinformation out I want to address, because some seem to talk about these guns as if they were machine guns. But the term “semi-automatic” means it is not a machine gun, since machine guns are “fully-automatic.” A semi-automatic rifle fires one cartridge when the trigger is pulled and everytime the trigger is pulled it fires again. A fully-automatic rifle will fire multiple rounds on one trigger pull. The semi-auto AR rifle works exactly like any other semi-automatic rifle and it is funny to me that no one is talking about banning the Ruger 10/22 rifle, which is a semi-automatic rifle that shoots .22 caliber or any other semi-automatic hunting rifle that is out there. Some of those semi-auto rifles shoot much bigger rounds than the .223 that most AR’s shoot. As to issue of large capacity magazines and why we need them? Anyone that has ever tried to just have some fun shooting at their local shooting range, will find reloading takes up a lot of time you could be using shooting targets and then you have the range master telling you when the range is “hot” or “cold” and so you really want to make your shooting time count and so having high capacity magazines means reloading less often and gives you the ability to spend more time just shooting. In self-defense situations, statistically the odds are in your favor, you may never need to defend yourself, but in the event you do, how do you know what that situation will be and how many rounds you will need to defend yourself and your loved ones. I will say what many have said before the problem is not guns it’s people. More people die by hands and feet than die by guns every year. More people die by cars than die by guns every year and no one is proposing to stop the sale of “assault cars!” Recently we had that woman that drove her car through a crowd of people, where were these people protesting the sale of these dangerous cars? This is just more of the same thing we have heard over and over and they just continue to display their ignorance. I suggest they spend sometime at the range and getting to know the majority of gun owners who are law abiding citizens, who love life, love God in many cases and love people and the country and the cities they live in. Being a gun owner of “semi-automatics” does not equal being a criminal.

    • Laary Prom November 13, 2015, 1:09 pm

COPS are assault weapons! Imagine a guy walking around with every known means of bodily harm clearly displayed on their person demanding you…. jump, sit, stand, stay, rollover, move, leave, stop, go, shut up, start talking, give me your ID, get down on the ground…. etc. All police commit assault it is just a matter of whether they add battery with one of their assault weapons, and maybe they will kill you for failure to follow their “law”.

  • Angelo Kardel November 13, 2015, 10:35 am

Another Dummocrat wanting to make a name for herself.

The following was written on April 1, 2013 shortly after the Sandy Hook incident, but appropriate to remember and more eloquent than anything I could add .

Gun confiscation leads to genocide. Here are the historical facts. The following are “civilized” countries that confiscated guns from the populace and the resulting murders that followed: Turkey 1915-1917 1.5 million dead; Soviet Union 1929-1953 20 million dead; Nazi Germany 1933-1945 13 million dead; China 1949-1976 20 million dead; Guatemala 1960-1981 100,000 dead; Uganda 1971-1979 300,000 dead; Cambodia 1975-1979 one million dead.

Who can forget all those infamous names: Uncle Joe Stalin, Lenin, Mao Tse-tung, Pol Pot, Castro, and let’s not forget the colorful Idi Amin. Just a few butchers from days gone by that needed to disarm their citizens before they could carry out their despicable atrocities.

This is a partial list of what a tyrannical authoritarian government can do to their citizens; 260 million people perished at the hands of their own governments in the past 100 years. Mexico banned guns 100 years ago but has the distinction of having the most gun related deaths on earth. Conversely, Switzerland, where gun ownership is mandatory, has the lowest crime rate in the world. Countries and states with the most pro-gun laws have the lowest crime rates. I know these facts are hard for liberals to grasp.

It’s hard to reconcile the Sandy Hook tragedy with the right to own semi-automatic guns. Most of us that have children (or don’t have children) cannot comprehend the pain endured by all involved in that tragic incident. Our first reaction is to get rid of those “assault rifles.” But there are very many children yet to be born and we cannot lose sight of why our founders demanded our right to bear arms. We must focus on the future, the future of our children, and their right to defend themselves against a government that may decide, someday, that they don’t quite agree with our children’s definition of liberty and freedom. Let not the United States be added to the aforementioned list.

I’m all for gun control. I think the renegade Department of Homeland Security should disband their purchase of two billion rounds of hollow point bullets, 2,700 armored assault vehicles, and 2,400 machine guns, all designed to be used against civilians. DHS is not controlled by the military but by the executive branch. I wonder what those folks are up to. If you don’t trust your neighbor and friends with firearms, then why on earth would you trust the government?

Mr Loerzel, I will not move from this great country, home of individual rights, liberty, personal responsibility, property rights, and our right to bear arms. If you don’t agree with the Second Amendment then perhaps it is you that should be packing your bags. I recommend Mexico, a nice civilized country where gun ownership is not allowed.

    Nicholas Barzetti

  • Tylerd November 13, 2015, 10:34 am

Okay, she’s made statement, her position is known. Let her submit legislation and allow all those who are in agreement with her sign on to the bill and submit it for passage. Problem solved!

And then somebody in your state file charges of treason against her and all who signed. She is attempting by legislation that is not within her purview to alter or abolish the Constitution of the United States. That’s what it is, calling for what it is, and proceed accordingly not real hard. If the courts throw the case out then they become aligned with her.

When we all realize that the courts are corrupt and without integrity they can be thrown in the mix to. People are going to have to make a choice one way or another.

  • joe November 13, 2015, 10:20 am

You can bet this lib carries a spare tire in her car in case she has a flat. And if no tire, you can bet she has a can of tire sealant for the same reason. And you can bet she carries a cell phone when out and about in case she needs help so why would she seek to take away weapons from OTHER people who would seek to use them when THEIR lives are in danger and when the police are nowhere around? I know why: because libs would rather have you and I DEAD and defenseless rather than alive after having saved our own lives through use of a gun. There is something repugnant to a liberal for them to have to accept the idea that a person saved their own life through use of a firearm and that’s why they would rather see us dead and defenseless.
Hew Wisconsin…there is a third choice if you pass this law: you go door to door TRYING to take guns……yeah…..

  • Steve November 13, 2015, 10:18 am

Another nut case. I have absolutely no idea why the good people of Wisconsin would elect someone as clueless as this woman? Did Wisconsin legalize pot in the dead of night and the rest of the world missed it?

  • Gregg November 13, 2015, 10:16 am

She needs to pass the most important law in the land:
“All criminals, those with mental health problems, and those with intent to do harm must turn in all weapons i.e. guns, knives, baseball bats, etc. within 24 hours of passing this bill.”

    • henryknox November 13, 2015, 9:11 pm

Notice how these Progressives never propose to increase punishment on criminals that use guns. Instead they go after law abiding citizens. Why do you suppose this is true? Perhaps they are doing if for political reasons and they need the votes of the criminals to stay in office.

  • Charles Bailey November 13, 2015, 10:14 am

I’ve finally determined the source of liberal’s need to control their fellow citizens. Have you noticed they all have ugly spouses? can you imagine how she feels when she looks at all of us good looking conservatives? So, she is just trying to get even with God for he ugly self.

  • Wil Ferch November 13, 2015, 10:14 am

Typical stupid and ill-advised liberal response…. “I can’t see why” argument that she gives. Well then…..why not then also say “I can’t see why a 90 lb housewife needs to be a single-occupant in a gas-guzzling 6000 lb Escalade”. Or why 200 mph-capable 12 cylinder cars are equally available and legal for our 55mph highways. It’s called the free-enterprise system. Of course it goes much further in our case as to 2nd Amendment rights. Maybe liberals need a history lesson of the root-reasons of our Constitutional Freedoms.

  • joe November 13, 2015, 10:08 am

Typical of libs to claim they are after one thing (making people feel safer) when in fact they really want to outlaw something else (guns). If this woman really wants to save lives she should consider this fact: obesity, through heart attacks, diabetes and other disorders, kills FAR MORE people each year than do assault weapons. Given that FACT, I think she should be trying to outlaw “fat, obese, people” instead of guns, but we know she won’t because it’s not really about saving lives but rather her desire to get rid of all guns. And people who want to rid the world of whatever happens to offend them or that they don’t understand, are just plain dangerous.

  • Kenneth Price November 13, 2015, 9:49 am

I suggest the banning of cheese from Wisconsin, on the grounds that it makes one fat, and is a health hazard. I am certain that a better case can be made for such a ban than can be made for a ban on semi-automatic firearms.

    • Jason November 13, 2015, 12:30 pm

      Hear hear!

  • WESTPARK November 13, 2015, 9:49 am

When you are fat and obese the brain does not work properly.
Once she looses the 200 lb. she will be out hunting bears with
the RIFLE SHE WANTS TO BAN NOW.

  • Steve November 13, 2015, 9:49 am

I would bet she would label a .22 LR AR style rifle as a terrible rifle that no one should have any legitimate reason for owning. Judging by looks ?

  • David November 13, 2015, 9:48 am

I rarely hear this argument made. But the whole purpose of the Second Amendment – “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State” – was to prevent a tyrannical government from taking control. Usually the argument is for self defense but the main purpose was for safeguarding our freedom from government. I do not know why the first argument is never made because that is the correct argument and; therefore, no one would have the right to take any type of gun away from us.

  • Pete November 13, 2015, 9:46 am

“I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a semiautomatic assault weapon,” — Rep. Lisa Subeck
Her statement alone should disqualify her from holding any position in government.
Its funny, Despots, mass murders, terrorists, dictators and dilettantes never believe there’s a legitimate reason to possess the means to appose their plans for OTHERS. It seems its only their intended victims that appreciate their not god.

  • Mott November 13, 2015, 9:44 am

  • Texas001 November 13, 2015, 9:44 am

The bleeding heart liberals, like this woman, have us fighting each other, when we should be sticking together against gun control. She is using the old liberal trick of divide and conquer. Give up the name calling guys and “stick to your guns”.

    • joe November 13, 2015, 11:22 am

The only thing libs like this understand is if it’s THEIR life that is threatened by a home intruder and if it’s THEY who are unarmed and defenseless. Then and only then do they finally “get the message” and realize why it is important to be armed.

This bitch has violated her oath and should be RECALLED !
Moving does not solve this problem , doing nothing does not solve this problem, writing letter to the editor of your local paper, ringing her phone non stop, calling others who support her bill and ring their phone non stop, forming or joining a local gun rights group, and spreading the word among all gun owners is the way to go forward.

    • joe November 13, 2015, 11:13 am

  • Jeanne November 13, 2015, 9:31 am

I grew up in Wi. If this passes isn’t this just like a genocide of a race? Or genocide of the Constitution? Most people who want to ban guns have lived sheltered lives. I’m a 64 year old women who has a concealed carry permit. Yes, I’ve been a victim. My main reason for a CCP is coyotes circling me and my horse while trail riding. Little did I know that a Police car was a few hundred feet. He told me that I needed a permit to carry. He saw the coyotes starting to circle and me firing into a tree to scare them away. A automatic gun would have been better. But who has the right to tell you what you like.

  • Jeff November 13, 2015, 9:28 am

Ignorant stupid asses……… criminals, bad people, are the only reason we have violence and before guns are no longer needed, those individuals need to be “removed.” Why isn’t any part of our government saying, ” defend your homes until we rid our lands of the bad and then guns won’t be an issue. Death penalty in “every” state, no lengthy stays ( life w/o parole is frigging stupid ) and no lengthy trials, all at tax payers expense and we are damned sick & tired of our government enabling criminals to roam our lands, kill our children, rape our women, rob our mom & pop businesses. Criminals now have more rights, better housing, health care, dental, three meals a day, heat AND AIR CONDITIONING, my God, we have vets, children, etc., that do not have or that enjoy those benefits. Criminals do not repay society and I say, ” our government is allowing this to continue…. who is making money from this?” We don’t need more and better prisons, we need to eliminate the criminals and every elected individual needs to get their head out of their ass and enact laws to let the criminals understand that if you murder, rape, rob, etc., you will receive the death penalty and even if they are 14 years old, no excuses, the death penalty awaits each individual that commits these crimes. Make our lands safe and guns no longer will be an issue and we could put our tax dollars into health, education, our vets and children, not into government officials bank accounts.

MORONS! Every one of them. Period. End of story.

  • Alan November 13, 2015, 9:15 am

Time and again, I have asked the truly ignorant to show me or quote me the words in our Constitution or Bill of Rights that states that any citizen has a guarantee to safety overall EXCEPT from an overreaching Govt.
There is NO SUCH guarantee. In fact, the Supremes have ruled that a police dept has ONLY the public good overall to contend with, and not ANY individual.
And yet the idiots repeatedly talk of “Public safety” as though it infers all citizens as individuals.
We have a RIGHT to ensure our own safety, and that RIGHT is based in the 2nd Amendment, which people would know if they read their history in all the papers from our Founding Fathers, the fools.
Our women are especially prone to this B.S., seemingly believing that their rights means a right to a personal cop, in some instances (I’m serious, talk to some of these women, especially today’s youth).
Now this dumb female and her cohorts are trying to not only thwart OUR rights, but further the ignorance of the truly stupid.
This isn’t just about types of guns, it goes straight to the heart of stupid and lazy Americans wanting the Govt. to do THEIR jobs as citizens and individuals.
Stupid people can be truly exasperating!!

  • Rob November 13, 2015, 8:55 am

Let’s turn that discussion around a little. I am a lover of nature and “I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to” pick a flower (one of God’s living creations) and put it on their clothes for display, killing the flower in the process like Lisa Subeck is clearly doing just by looking at the picture. She is even smiling knowing full well that the flower on her clothes will not live another day. She is a cold blooded flower killer. Where is the outrage!?
I think she should be charged with plant cruelty and there should be a federal law preventing people from killing and wearing flowers for show.

While it’s good for us to watch these socialists, I’d bet $$$ to donuts they are all in or near Madison,a College town (U.of Minn, et.al.) and we see this all over the place. I’d venture to guess pretty much every state has this elitist socialist enclave. Outside of places like this and with exceptions like Mass., or Vermont, including New Jersey where they have an overt attempt to deny us even our rights under the Second Amendment by requiring every gun owner needs a permit to purchase and so they simply keep moving the permit requests to the bottom of the pile. However we dare not take our friends for granted! Like Blacks and the Demorats, what has Obama done for Black people? Demorats take that 95% of them blindly follow and voting for them without any idea of the issues. Someone smarter then I said something like “The cost of freedom is constant vigilance”.

I can see no reason for a person to be overweight, therefore, the government should confiscate all fatning foods from this woman’s home. My point is that we all choose to “see” what we will and just because someone can’t see a reason should not be a reason to diminish the rights of citizens under the Constitution.

  • Joe Leinweber Jr November 13, 2015, 7:59 am

This is what gets me. These people take an oath of office as do those in federal office including the president. Now in studying the constitution, fed papers and just about everything about the founders and their intentions, nowhere in the oath or serving in any elected office from dog catcher to president is there the latitude to carry out the persons or special interest personal agendas!
Nor is there anywhere that allows for what has come about in the last several decades establishing a personal legacy. Elected offices are intended for service and preservation and protection of the American way is rooted in a solid document called the US Constitution, lettus be sure to remind these people that anything else is a violation of their oath of office and they are subsequently nullifying their offices responsibility. Let us also remember that there is no authority in public office but responsibility, let us start holding these people accountable and the violators be removed and banned from further public office. European parliameantary governments not only relieve violators of the public trust but often times ban them for life from serving or employment in that gov’t and when there have been monetary indiscretions they are incarcerated and their families assets seized to make restitution to the people they were supposed serve. Public office is about service to the peoples and not submission to the whims and opinions of those elected, when we remember that and hold them accountable then we will restore the America of or founding fathers. There is no rebuttal to this it is the fact of our founding and rule of law.

    • Tom Horn November 13, 2015, 9:39 am

Right on! I’ll say it again, it is time for a 27th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

27th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States: No one shall attempt to make laws that circumvent the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, and detract from the peoples right to bear arms. Anyone attempting to do so will be prosecuted for treason, and if found guilty, will face punishment of death. Period.

That would end this B.S. for good.

  • David November 13, 2015, 7:37 am

Want a serious conversation about gun violence, Ms Subeck? How about talking to NY, CT, and WA officials about MASSIVE non-compliance and their fear of even trying to enforce similar laws due to the possibility of resistance? Or how about the fact that if the bill passes and enforcement is tried, those who voted for the law may experience ‘gun violence’ in person? Not by me – WI is too far away for my budget – but there must be at least a million gun owners in the state, and it only takes a few getting fed up to create lots of open legislature seats. And don’t think your cops will protect you in that scenario either – they want to go home to their families at the end of the shift – not ‘home to Jesus’.

  • ed November 13, 2015, 7:36 am

shows the lack of intelligence on their side, as usual.. without sounding like a conspiracy theory type, I CAN conceive of a reason to own one; maybe two.. the 2nd amendment, and our government owns them, some fully some semi.. if they want to deal with violence, stop calling it GUN violence, and start calling it criminal actions.. if you cant be honest about the issue, you will do nothing more than throw away efforts and money pretending to do something to fix the root of the problem. if they want people to feel safe(r) in their homes, start teaching them how to be GOOD people with guns.. that scares the hell out of the criminals

  • scooterwrench November 13, 2015, 7:36 am

This needs to fought tooth and nail. The way it is worded is the first step to totally disarm the residents of Wisconsin from owning ANY semi automatic firearm.
She is using the term “semi automatic assault weapon” not assault rifle. That could mean ANY semi automatic firearm that THEY feel could be used in an assault.

Looks like I need to give the NRA some more money!

  • Fran Blair November 13, 2015, 7:34 am

Obesity kills a thousand times more Americans every year than rifles, yet she obviously indulges in dangerous eating habits that really should be banned.

  • Rick A November 13, 2015, 7:22 am

These state bans of common firearms and accessories and blatant criminalizing of common citizens needs to stop and be called what it is…UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND CRIMINAL.

Such measures need to be exposed for the resources they waste on a non existent problem to appease folks in high offices scared of black rifles.

  • Stew. B. November 13, 2015, 7:11 am

By the looks of ms subeck, I bet she would also like to ban exercise equipment and mirrors. She should stick to what she obviously knows best, eatting and wasting tax payers money…

  • Joe McHugh November 13, 2015, 6:51 am

Thanks to the governor of New York State, Andrew Cuomo, the AR15 was outlawed in January of 2013. You cannot buy one of these “dangerous” firearms in a New York gun dealer store. If you already possess an AR15 you must register it with the New York State police at Albany, NY. ANY resident may not sell or even give away his AR15, even to a close relative. When such a gun owner dies, his estate must surrender his AR15 to the State Police for destruction.

There are an estimated 900,000 AR15 type rifle in private hands in NY. Over a year ago, a newspaper reporter filed a freedom of information request to find out how many New Yorkers registered their AR15’s. Cuomo refused to let his bureaucrats answer that question. A judge finally ruled that the number of registered AR15’s be disclosed. Just over 44,000 AR15’s were registered so far in the 2 1/2 years that the law has been on the books.

Governor Cuomo has succeeded in converting approximately 855,000 New York residents into law breakers who could face jail time for their criminal acts. And the Democrat and RINO state senators and assemblymen that passed this New York S.A.F.E. Act gun law? They look like the buffoons that they are. Cuomo and the New York legislature can’t understand why these New Yorkers are flaunting the new gun law. All of these clowns are studiously avoiding any reporters that ask about why the gun law is being ignored in New York State. Perhaps they need to revisit the text of the Second Amendment to find out what the problem is.

  • H. Bowman November 13, 2015, 6:48 am

Wastrel? That is a very polite word to call that person. I have stronger descriptive words for her, but I will not pollute your site with them. Most of the readers of this will know the words I am thinking. I thought that we got most of these types quieted down here in recent years, but I should have remembered that they crawl back out from under the rocks, rotting boards and manure piles that they hide under.

  • Heyoka November 13, 2015, 6:47 am

Next it will be hunting rifles they will label “sniper rifles” because they don’t know what the heck it means.

Weapons used in the militia are the same type and technologically similar to those used by the military in 1775. Civilians owned canon just like the military, there is an example in minuteman park in Concord. The civilian navy called Privateers owned more ships and out gunned the US Navy in the Revolution, Minute Man Park web site and US Maritime Museum web site.
In short pound sand you uneducated, ignorant, disgusting fat body.

  • Wyattb November 13, 2015, 6:44 am

“I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a musket or other firearm. This decree bans the transportation, purchase, possession, or transfer of a musket and specifically defines a musket for the purpose of the ban. Under the bill, whoever transports, purchases, possesses, or transfers a musket or other firearm is guilty of a crime against the crown and may be fined up to $10,000, sovereigns or to a term of imprisonment of up to six years, or both. Oh P.S. I just might want to hang your sorry hide in the town square without a trial.” Signed; King George

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Read it you sorry excuse for an elected Representative! You are the reason the 2nd Amendment was written! THROW HER OUT!

  • Tom Horn November 13, 2015, 6:20 am

A semi-auto rifle would have come in REAL handy for the the worshipers of the an Oak Creek, WI., Sikh Temple on August 5th, 2013, when a white supremacist came in and shot 10 people with a weapon that was not, Ms. Subeck’s dreaded assault rifle. As a matter of fact, I bet the percentage of murders committed with a semi-auto rifle in WI is about the same as nation wide, about 1%.

Good state to test this B.S. in, because there are a lot of fine folks up there who are not just going to roll over and take this crap. It would be an eyeopener for the rest of the idiots as to what is going to happen when you try to infringe on our rights to bear arms.

  • DAVELIVS2HUNT November 13, 2015, 6:20 am

“I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a semiautomatic assault weapon,”, well I can see no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a Lexus or other high dollar luxury car, but I bet our tax dollars bought one for her. I can’t believe this bill even came up in Wisconsin. We are an extremely gun friendly state. She and her bill sponsors need to be stripped of their positions for wasting their voters tax dollars to drum up useless laws. I am ashamed to be a Wisconsin citizen because of them.

  • Bigmag November 13, 2015, 6:08 am

Her comment ALMOST makes me feel good about living out here in Commiefornia! I agree with the first comment. How do they get “Assault Rifle” out of an AR 15? These Dems, or at least the better portion of them still think that if they lie about something long enough, it will eventually become true. Just another step, but VERY dangerous step towards outright confiscation of ALL firearms. Any of our elected officials that try and push unconstitutional bills against the 2nd amendment should not only be fired, but lose ALL benefits, then be tried for treason against the United States of America!!! It`s time to put an end to this assault on our freedoms. How many times has this type of bill been shot down because the PEOPLE spoke against it? How many times will these MORONS (wastrels) be kicked out of office before they learn this is NOT what the people of this nation want. Add some big time for treason and see how fast this crap ends. This is just this humble mans opinion. God Bless America, and the 2nd Amendment!

    • NJL November 13, 2015, 9:45 am

      Bigmag,

All of these socalled politicians , from the President down, have sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution of The United States of America, to protect and defend it. What part of UPHOLD do they not understand. .. TREASON is TREASON and they should be held accountable.. ALL OF THEM…. Americans have become complacent in their acceptance of ALL things. There was a time, when America was strong, that we called things as they were…and we’re not coerced into being Politically Correct. Maybe we can become great again, before it is too late. To show my love for the physical welfare of the obviously obese wastrel Subeck and her cohorts, I propose a ban on motorized transportation for Wisconsin lawmakers. Let them walk to stuff BigMacs and DunkinDonuts in their vile pie-holes.

  • enrique November 13, 2015, 5:39 am

Subeck needs to concern herself with more relevant issues like maybe going on a diet , before we outlaw being fat and stupid…..

  • Snubby November 13, 2015, 5:24 am

She’s wasting everyone’s time. Banning something that is already prevalent and well used in our society will never eliminate it nor will it have any significant impact on already rare violent events. Not only would doing so expand black market criminal enterprises seeking lucrative illegal profits, but it will also criminalize the vast majority of innocent citizens with absolutely no intentions of committing crimes with the firearms they have every legal constitutional right to possess. We should know by now that prohibition doesn’t work too well. Also, to think that confiscating guns would solve any problems is laughable. How about the problem of finding the guns in the first place – may need to waste a lot of time and resources searching many dumpsters, rivers, and landfills. No surprise if that effort comes up empty handed. The real focus should be placed on why some people resort to violence to solve their problems. What is it about our society that motivates a few individuals to engage in a rare yet horrific mass shooting event? Could it be that some of our national policies involve the killing of others to resolve issues and would that have an effect on certain unstable individuals justifying their heinous acts?

  • Robert Rivett November 13, 2015, 5:19 am

All I can say is bring your wastrel asses down here and get’em. So glad I don’t live in Wisconsin… Why do these retarded elected officials continue focusing on our second amendment rights. At the end of the day we are already infringed on with the automatic weapon ban (which should be repealed by someone hell these days the supreme courts are all up in the mix maybe they should get up in that) because my second amendment right read the fact to keep and bears arms (ALL ARMS NOT THE ONES MY GOVERMENT CHOOSES FOR ME). I’ll be honest my three combat tours in the Middle East as a marine we focus round placement not spray and pray so I can be just as deadly as most other gun owners can OR DEADLIER with a bolt action .22 as I can with a full auto M16… Gees when will this stop

    • Duane November 13, 2015, 9:34 am

Thank you for your service. This country is still free, thanks to men like you and my dad, who fought in Korea. So many people overlook this, as they live in a false bubble, thinking they are always safe, not any more. You area correct. A trained sniper is far more dangerous than anyone with an AR. Yes, even with a bolt action 22. They are not addressing hunting rifles or bolt rifles, which by nature have far more range than an AR, and in the right hands, is far more dangerous. I did not serve, as I grew up in the Marine Corp in the 50’s and 60’s, and was very well trained in the art of shot placement.

  • shrugger November 13, 2015, 3:34 am

All this progressive insanity is tiresome. Recalling the words of Lee before the Union assault at Fredericksburg: “I wish those people would go away and leave us alone.”
    Wisdom for the intellectual fight:
“A government resting on the minority is an aristocracy, not a Republic, and could not be safe with a numerical and physical force against it, without a standing army, an enslaved press and a disarmed populace.”
    – James Madison
Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined…. The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun.”
    – Patrick Henry

“Though defensive violence will always be ‘a sad necessity’ in the eyes of men of principle, it would be still more unfortunate if wrongdoers should dominate just men.”
    – St. Augustine

“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people; it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government–lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.” –Patrick Henry

“I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.”
    James Madison

This goes for burglars, muggers, and rapists, and even more so for policemen, bureaucrats, and politicians.” – Aaron Zelman

    • JR November 13, 2015, 8:45 am

Here’s another quote to add to your list.
      Luke 22:36 (KJV)
Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take [it], and likewise [his] scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

        Can’t argue with that.

  • Brian November 13, 2015, 3:31 am

Why do people insist on calling these assault rifles? These are semi-auto replicas. These politicians are wanting to cut off funding to the Republican party nothing more or less, just like they have gone after many other Republican donors from coal miners to ranchers/farmers. Now they want the gun makers and ammo loaders. I have been to Wisconsin and I know the people will fight this and hopefully kick these replica politicians out on their a♥♥!
    God Bless the USA!

The citizens of Wisconsin need to do the right thing and rid themselves of these socialist who are coming out of the closet.

  • Jofer Jeff November 13, 2015, 2:43 am

Wisconsin’s House and Senate along with the Governors seat are all FIRMLY Republican. We just passed concealed carry and regardless what a few liberals want to do, there was zero chance of this bill going anywhere.

That’s good to hear Jeff. Keep fighting the good fight!

    • Huapakechi November 13, 2015, 8:26 am

Beware of idiots in large numbers. These are DEVOUT democrats living in the most liberal enclaves of Wisconsin, almost totally divorced from reality. They see nothing wrong with “adjusting” vote results to win what they think are proper and necessary restrictions on freedoms delineated in the Constitution, since they are so much smarter than the commoners they were born to rule..

  • Damian McCue November 13, 2015, 2:43 am

Ask yourself why they would be going after guns that are used in only about 300 murders a year. That’s right. The truth is that all rifles, including “assault weapons”, are used in less murders each year than knives, blunt objects, or even hands and feet. This has nothing to do with public safety.

    http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/table-20

    Total Murders: 12,664
    Murders by Handguns: 6,220
    Murders by unknown firearms: 1,684
    Murders by knife: 1,694
    Murders with hands, feet: 728
Murders with other items (like hammers and baseball bats: 1,659
    Murders with shotguns: 356
Murders with rifles (including “Assault Weapons”): 323

That means that twice the number of people are beaten to death each year (with no weapon) then are killed with “Assault Weapons”.

    • LP November 13, 2015, 10:15 am

INSTEAD of banning weapons of a particular type, why not enforce the crimes by making convicted persons serve 100% of what the court gives them as a sentence. Or go for an eye for an eye! How about if you do the crime, you do the time. Give them no country club prisons but a work club. If you want to EAT, WORK! It might just drag over into their life after they get released.

Naming calling, regardless of whether accurate, is not nice. It is amazing they can be so naive. But aren’t these the same people who fought Governor Walker over automatic raises for school teachers higher than the CPI. Lisa Subeck is also a former teacher from one of the most liberal areas of Wisconsin, next to Madison as are the other supporters. Surprisingly she is also sponsoring nutrition classes for the state’s free food program, looks to me like maybe she is spending too much around the free food. (gee that’s kind of like name calling, sorry)
You really have to check out the definition of “semiautomatic assault weapons”, it must make Sen Feinstein drool…
http://legis.wisconsin.gov/assembly/78/subeck/media/1149/15-3635_1-002.pdf All you need is a detachable magazine and bayonet lug and voilà you have an assault weapon. The legislation also includes pistols and shotguns of course. Anything more than a 7 round magazine also rings the bell… very sad.

      • The Original Brad November 13, 2015, 9:10 am

I am amused at the bayonet lug inclusion into the AW definition. I could only find one or two instances of using a fixed bayonet in the commission of a crime. In one case it looked like it was a folding bayonet under an SKS so I don’t know how you’d view that since there is no “lug” on the barrel. Whatever the case may be, choosing specific accessories from a list of accessories is only part of the smoke an mirrors of their act. They don’t care about bayonet lugs, barrel shrouds, removable magazines or anything else. They only care about removing all guns period. I am sure someone pointed out the folly of their supposed banned feature list and how it would ban just about every rifle in existence. Even the Fudd’s with their Remington 742’s would be howling at this and oppose it.

Make no mistake, they’ll get themselves some Fudd’s who know a bit more about firearms than these twits and come up with a revised law that accomplishes the same thing. It’ll just look less “gun confiscatory” than the original. If you are a Fudd, you are the problem, not these ignorant dolts. They are what they are but you are the Quislings among us.

It’s any long gun that can hold more than five rounds in NYC; like my Marlin Glenfield .22 bolt action 7 round. Whatever federal or state law gets passed, all the cities double-down: It’s a zero sum game of confiscation – and it all started with a 2 dollar rifle permit in the early 1960’s.

    • Harley D November 13, 2015, 8:13 am

I teach shooting classes for new women shooters in Michigan and some of the best fun they have is shooting AR15’s and AK47’s as soon as they are done all they can say is ” I want one “.

    • Jay November 14, 2015, 5:01 am

Oh, they understand that gun bans don’t prevent violence. That is the hope and prayer of every liberal politician, that gun control DOESN’T and never has had any negative effect on crime statistics. The rely on that as an excuse for ever more restrictive gun control legislation. Don’t for a minute think the likes of Schumer or Bloomberg are stupid. They know exactly what they are doing. Reduce the majority of the people to ‘sheeple’ and disarm the ones who won’t be duped and then take control of the country for good and all. I figure one or two more rigged “elections” and they’ll be able to dispense with the whole charade once and for all. It worked for Hitler, Stalin and most other dictators throughout history. They who control the weapons, control the country. The crux of the matter is that some many have been public “educated” (read, indoctrinated) that they’re too stupid and ignorant to realize they are slaves. That has become the highest aspiration of great segments of Americans, to subsist on the government dole.
Bah! I could go on and on but, hey, I’m preaching to the choir anyway.

“I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need to own or use a semiautomatic assault weapon,” – Really!

I can conceive of no legitimate reason that any citizen should need or support an ignorant public servant! The words “semiautomatic and “assault weapon” don’t even belong in the same sentence together. One is not the other! Just because the civilian AR (Armalite Rifle) looks like the military M16 (assault rifle) does not mean they have the same capabilities. The AR has no more fire power than the acceptable Remington 522 semi-automatic squirrel rifle.

Kick her out of office before she hurts someone.

    • Bret November 13, 2015, 5:14 am

There must be something related to latitude and stupidity. The further you go north, the more stupidity you acquire.
I cannot wait to see the large scale class action suit supported by the NRA thrown upon the State of Wisconsin.
Maybe they feel because Republican Governor Scott Walker brought them a surplus in revenue, they have the tax payers money to waste trying to ban ‘so-called’ assault weapons. When we really know they are only semi-automatic look-a-likes to ‘real’ military issue select fire, both semi & full automatic capable, assault weapons. Why are Yankees so stupid?

      • Pete November 13, 2015, 7:27 am

Hey Bret, by your rational half your fellow gunowners are “yankees”. Try to keep the generalizations to yourself. Its like a guy from an open carry state of NH Maine or Vermont asking why are all southerners stupid, inbred, racist, white trash so against going to the dentist to save their front teeth?

Having been raised in the South and having lived up North, in more than 5 States, allow me to jump in with my two cents of knowledge and truth. Northerners are warm, inviting, and generous people, however, I believe what is being said about Northerners is that it seems as though it is the Northerners State Reps, Mayors such as Bloomberg and others who are against guns. With the exception of California being out West Northern States seem to have more strict gun law and seem to constantly want to restrict the rights of gun owners. The Southern people are also warm, inviting, and generous people with a ton of welcoming and come sit on my front porch for a few hours to share some sweet tea or maybe some home brew. Southerners are smart, gunning, very intelligent, love football and love our country. Southerners believe guns are not just for hunting but for defense against our person, our family, our homes, our lands, and against those who would destroy our constitution. We Southerners have a saying, “leave me alone and I’ll leave you alone” there are variations to this saying but it means you do what you want on your property and leave me the hell alone on mine. When a Northern Mayor wants to institute gun restrictions in his own big city that is fine, but keep it there, you have no place trying to tell us way down in the deep South what to do…I think that is why a person would say Northerners ….. against guns! We never see a Southern lawmaker trying to make a law for the Northern people…It just ain’t gonna happen!

          • Mc November 13, 2015, 12:04 pm

North and South together. When a very large church less than 2 min. from my home was going to be taken over by the U.S. Marshall’s for standing for their religious rights, militia’s from KY, IN and MI came and said there will not be another Waco. The Rev Dixon told the militia’s he did not want there to be any problems of that sort so he ask the militia’s to not get involved. They were already there and ready. The baptist church lost their building and property because they didn’t think it was necessary to incorporate with the state and Fed. government to exist as a religious institution. Took it all because of back taxes. Other issues involved, but he church was correct in my opinion. They were not a cult, but a legitimate baptist church that would not bow to big government. They had around 3,000 members. I believe the tax liability was over 6 million. But the militia’s showed up armed to the teeth.. Now that’s what the 2nd Amendment is all about. 🙂

          • Wyooil November 13, 2015, 1:16 pm

If you look at where these “legislators” are located, a significant majority of those promoting gun restrictions are from urban (high population density) area (see Chicago, Milwaukee, NYC, Boston, SFO, LAX… and so on.) Those from more rural areas understand the issue is not “guns” but those who use them–typically those living within our largest cities where individual “use guns to commit crimes” are the problem.

The problem we have is that the population centers dominate our elective process–they tend to be more liberal–and overwhelm the balance of the state. It is readily apparant in Washington (Seattle), Oregon (Portland), California (SFO and LAX), and even in Texas, where Houston votes more “progressive” than any other part of the state.

We have a dichotomy in this country (and they are not equal)–where the urban vote substantially overwhelms the rural vote. Take the western U.S., where how California votes in a national (presidential) election literally overwhelms the votes of citizens in 9 ( yes, nine) other western states because CA’s electoral votes total more than the other nine states combined. Thus, in Washington, whichever way King County votes, the rest of the counties are effectively overwhelmed. Just look at the last election, where on a county level, Romney exceeded Obama substantially, but those votes were vastly overwhelmed by the individual votes from the urban areas.

So the issue is you have urban lawmakers proposing regulations and restrictions of all types based on where they live. Colorado is perfect example, where the legislators from Denver-Boulder attempt to impose oil and gas development regulations for the entire state–when in fact there is little oil and gas development within their precincts from which they are elected. You see this in virtually every state–including Illinois and New York, where Chicago and NYCity drive agendas that are inconsistent with the needs of the rural areas, but they are imposed statewide.

          • Dan November 13, 2015, 3:36 pm

She probably withdrew the bill because someone informed her that it was in blatant violation of Wisconsin’s constitution. So even if it had enough votes, it would be shot down by the state Supreme Court. “The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other lawful purpose.” Semi-auto firearms are by far the best choice for defense, and are clearly protected by our state and federal constitutions. The tragedy here is that she is allowed to keep her job after violating her oath in such a way.

        • Brett November 13, 2015, 9:41 am

Even though I am partial to the South, I agree. Many yankees are great American patriots, and the problem is politicians and liberals. Virginia is being ruined by liberals, as are many other states with traditional, American values.

          • James November 13, 2015, 11:10 am

I’m a liberal and a gun owner, so go f&%k yourself. Stop generalizing.

          • Aardvark November 13, 2015, 2:12 pm

Geez “James the liberal”, chill! The point is that liberal politicians and their supporters are the ones pushing gun control, not the true conservatives. With that said, any one that pays attention also knows that many republican politicians would either go along with gun bans or cave to democrat pressure, but again, NOT the true conservatives. However you look at it though, any ban on guns by local or state politicians as well as federal politicians, is a violation of the 2nd amendment of the Bill of Rights in our Constitution, and therefor illegal!
And for the North / South battle here, let’s not forget the Northern states of Idaho, Utah, Montana, North and South Dakota, and Alaska.

          • Dano November 13, 2015, 5:47 pm

I was born and raised in Vermont where I have lived for 66 years now. My beautiful state of Vermont has been hijacked by liberals from NY, Conn. NJ and anywhere people are escaping the landscape raped by their liberal ways. When they get here they want to change it into what they were escaping from. We have no guns laws in Vermont but they have been trying to change it every year. What we have now is a drug problem brought us from the cities to the south. Northerners aren’t the problem, liberals are. Never forget that! If you are a Democrat you are the problem, if you are a Progressive, you are the problem. The Constitution is what we live by and that includes the 2nd amendment. It is time to take our government back to live by our founding father’s guidance and principles. Never surrender, never give up. You are an American, north or south and we will protect this country from those who wish to control us. If we are not free, we are nothing.

          • Thor November 18, 2015, 3:07 am

Dan: I wonder how much Wisconsin hauls in from both fishing & hunting too. Those evil semi-autos are just part of the development of firearms. Consider muzzleloading rifles ignited by matchlocks, then flintlocks, then percussion caps (I hunted for years with one of those–Hawkin .50). Then when brass cases came along they went from rimfire to centerfire and full auto emerged on the scene in time for WWI. I think despite all the “infringement” of case law we are entitled to non-auto versions of anything the military uses. Nobody ever told me I was being trained with an “assault rifle” during basic but I surprised the DI’s with my M1 scores (expert). Pappy used a bolt action circa WWI and I had been broken in on that by him. I know the military never accepted the AR15 or the AR10 as a battle rifle. Somebody spooked by the mere sight of a firearm came up with the term “assault rifle”. I’ll bet Wisconsin makes at least a couple billion every year from fishing and hunting. When it comes to home defense I know calling 911 might result in cops (with guns) showing up in minutes when seconds count so you better be prepared to defend your house, the surrounding yard (legally known as curtilage) BTW fields don’t fall under the 4th Amendment (warrant needed). Important now is like what happened in Paris by ISIS.
We need to protect ourselves, loved ones and in my case my neighbors (yeah I’m a retired detective). Maybe she will not be elected along with her cohorts–what a loser. Thor

        • Aunt Jane November 13, 2015, 12:35 pm

Hey Bret and Pete don’t you think it would be smart to quit insulting each other and THINK? My freedoms (Georgia) and your freedoms if you live in Maine or Wisconsin are threatened by these liberal, progressive idiots. And it ain’t just about guns, it’s about a constitutional republic and the people who want to rewrite the law to institute their version of a socialist utopia and everyone knows the average person is not capable of making good choices so the government must take care of them! And if hunters, Christians, veterans and just plain old fashioned Americans will go vote and DEMAND that elected officials listen we CAN put a stop to this insanity. No I’m not happy with the list of candidate either but do your research and THINK!!!

seriously – i spend three weeks a month working in atlanta flying home on weekends in ny – where my wife teaches – my son is in grad school there – My daughter is in alabama doing undergrad and my parents live in Savannah – – ive seen plenty of the north and south . If you look for the darks side its there no matter where you go . this silly bickering shows ignorance from both parties . I grew up in NY and had a fishing pole and a gun in my hands from the time i was able to ride a bike – Most of upstate NY is more country then just about anything ive seen in Georgia – really we threw snowballs at cows for fun . I’m amazed at how ignorant both the north and the south are still of each other . Most people dont have a straight “choice “where to live . Family /jobs finance all effect our mobility . for those of us that eaqualy understand the meaning of the dreaded “arnt you precious ” and the “bronx cheer ” focus on the issues . You never know who your might need as an ally when the real enemy shows up .

First of all there is no such thing as an assault rifle and I would like to know what is defined (in there mind) what an assault rifle is. By the term, that if they deem certain rifles to be able to assault someone then there are a lot of items that will also have to be banned as well and one is a car or truck.

        • Ed Sebright November 13, 2015, 3:39 pm

Taken from part of LHTwist’s comment on NOVEMBER 10, 2015, @ 2:28 PM
“The words “semiautomatic and “assault weapon” don’t even belong in the same sentence together. One is not the other! Just because the civilian AR (Armalite Rifle) looks like the military M16 (assault rifle)”
A assault rifle is defined as a full automatic rifle, the M16. To many of our members of congress and senators believe the AR stands for Assault Rifle but we know that they’re not even close.

      • rj November 13, 2015, 8:59 am

Bret, I can understand your frustration, but you clearly don’t know Wisconsin. In truth, she is probably acting on the part of the metro areas in “Southern Wisconsin.” Northern Wisconsin and other rural areas are very pro-gun. Geographically we are a conservative pro-gun state. Unfortunatly, the concentration of libtards in Madison and Milwaukee often get these nut jobs into office.

        • AWESOMESMARTGUY November 13, 2015, 3:41 pm

      • Gem Gram November 13, 2015, 9:21 am

Apparently there is. Such a comment is simply less than intelligent. On the opening of deer season there are in excess of one million people under arms for that one event in Wisconsin. And that does not count bird hunters, bench and target shooters or people who simply have a permit to carry and do not participate in the other areas. I wonder how many “armed citizens” are from that fool’s state? For some reason some red necks from the South believe they are the only people who own guns and support the 2nd Amendment. And being from the South this both amazes and disturbs me. The State of Maryland and Washington D.C. are “South”. Illinois actually goes “south” of St. Louis… Someone needs to get a map with latitude lines on it. All this proves that fools come from both the South as well as the North

      • Roger November 13, 2015, 10:00 am

Easy with the yankee comment about stupidity. You missed the whole point, it’s attorneys that are stupid. Attorneys are the problem. There’s nothing wrong with people from northern states in general.

Maybe we should just outlaw assault donuts also.. Because if I took one and pegged it at anyone, It’s an assault, maybe a little suger would knock some sencse into the issue…It’s getting old! how about putting the argument into drug laws in your State. My God get with the program…Read the facts on drug overdose in your State in 3 months… This is getting so old with trying to gain ground on distroying anyones right to bear arms You need to STOP you need to sit down and remember when you where sworn in and had your right hand raised in the air and took an oath to follow the constitution….Not taking an oath to attempt on trying to change it…. Does she have any idea what an assault weapon is, a word that can be a automobile or even a pencil…. It’s just a way to strip any rights away from a law abiding person.

Having been born and raised in the South, lived several years in the North, I can say without fear of contradiction that Yankees are no more stupid than Southerners. It’s not a matter of geography; it’s a matter of liberalism vs conservativism. Liberals and most Democrats are brain dead when it comes to the Second Amendment. The State of Wisconsin is a hunting state and generally gun friendly, some cities there less so. However, there is no way that the legislature there is going to pass a law mandating the confiscation of ARs or any other legal firearm and no way that Scott Walker would ever sign such a bill.

Easy on the generalizations buddy. I’m a gun owner from New York State. There are plenty of us here that believe in the Second Amendment and are fighting gun control. People don’t always have a choice to uproot themselves and go to another state. I have family commitments here.

    • Bill Johnson November 13, 2015, 7:11 am

You are right on Bill, She needs to be replaced for not wanting to abide by our 2nd Amendments Rights

      • Roger November 13, 2015, 10:04 am

Yes, she’s an idiot, despite her “higher education” to become an attorney. She likely never even handled a firearm. Do not let people who know nothing about guns, tell those that know about guns, about guns. Because it is not about guns, it is about them. They are unhappy people and they want us to be unhappy.Yes, the woman is a fat stupid person with a law degree. So we see, attorneys are a bigger problem. In fact guns are not a problem at all- people are the problem.

        • Steve Wilson November 13, 2015, 11:37 am

2 things. Notice the wording she uses. Address GUN VIOLENCE. They don’t want to address the real problem. Criminal Behavior! As a matter of fact if you do some digging you’ll find that many legislators including the ***** are talking about Prison Reform. That’s double talk for letting criminals back out on the street sooner rather than later! Most crimes go unpunished and in today’s society crime DOES pay.
The thing people don’t realize and I’m going to generalize here is this. Lawyers on the defense side are masters of ensuring that the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth Never sees the light of day in a court room. These same peoples lives revolve around the concepts of manipulation and decite. They often move on to positions in Government. That’s rights . These are our elected officials.

          • Aardvark November 13, 2015, 2:57 pm

Our politicians and Judges! Have you ever been to court for anything? Ever notice that our constitutional right to a speedy trial has been totally ignored. When I went to court over a child custody dispute, the judge would never decide on anything. They just prolong the whole procedure to insure that their attorney friends (future judges) have a steady supply of clients paying them hundreds of dollars per hour.

    • T Weber November 13, 2015, 7:51 am

Who the hell died and made her King of America. I don’t recall anything in the constitution (which by the way was written by men much smarter and better than the likes of this idiot) that allows any one person to dictate the lives of law abiding citizens. Maybe she would do much better in Putins world. Maybe she should lay off the dam food as it has gone to her head. I believe she just committed political suicide. She will get what she deserves

      • McRuger November 13, 2015, 10:29 am

You forget that Obamites don’t have to abide by the law. The Constitution means nothing to these people.

    • Paulos.Galt November 13, 2015, 8:08 am

It is you duty to own and be proficient in the operation of modern military weapons such as AR platform. How else do you have a well regulated (properly functioning) militia. These statists would like you to believe that a police state will keep you save. It was the framers intent that you would be responsible to keep yourself safe by organizing with your neighbors to prevent a police state from ruling over you. The fact that this lady was able to get elected reveals a sad state of education in the district she represents.
Get organized in a political sense and seek to replace her with some one who will not attempt to rob you of your liberties.

    • joe November 13, 2015, 8:23 am

Ok, go ahead and pass it and then try and take guns away from those who have them……. Hitler did the same thing before he fired up the ovens. First he required that guns be registered so that he could then later go door-to-door confiscating them (first comes registration then comes confiscation). When all were disarmed, he fired up the ovens. Weren’t they called Nazis????

Also, this lady is clueless. A revolver is also “semi automatic” in that it fires each time and as fast as you pull the trigger. With each pull of the trigger both an AR and a revolver do two things: 1) discharge a round and 2) line up another shell to be fired on the next trigger pull. An auto shotgun does the same thing. Only difference is that an AR has a longer range and more ammunition.

What this clueless lady does not understand is that these weapons are for self defense against our own tyrannical government. How does the saying go, something like “In a free society, the citizens are armed and the police are disarmed. In a police state, the police are armed and the citizens are disarmed.”

      • LP November 13, 2015, 10:06 am

Well, i am a southerner. I have all my teeth. and it was not only hitler that confiscated guns. EVERY GREAT COMMUNIST has. Now put one of those commies up in front of one of my guns and see how long his head stays on his shoulders. There are certain regions of this country which are not safe to walk after dark, New York City and the mountains of the Alaska. This gal hopes to make a dent in society with this BS but she has only exhausted her political career. She needs to get a brain, then use it!

        • Aunt Jane November 13, 2015, 12:40 pm

I’m also a southerner and I don’t have all my teeth! Thanks to the politicians and their waste and the increased cost of EVERYTHING

          • Aunt Jane November 13, 2015, 12:51 pm

I didn’t manage to finish my comment thank to my old computer. I am a southerner and I don’t have all my teeth. Thinks to the liberal progressive elected idiots I have been unable to afford dental care. Yes I had a job until I both retired and was disabled. I get so sick of the toothless redneck jokes you can NOT BELIEVE!! No one wants their teeth to rot out and to have to live in poverty! The jobs either go overseas or are given to illegals! No we are not lazy although education is a problem. With Common Core it isn’t likely to get better! You people who think you are superior and entitled because of the part of the country you live in are a lot of the problem. BTW that goes for southerners too!!!

Not in Maryland. Not allowed to have anything bigger than a 10 round magazine. SO DUMB and EXTREMELY exhausting at the range having to load magazines every 9 rounds.

      • Jimc November 13, 2015, 11:12 am

How true, you give some people, extremists in this case, a foot and the will eventually take the whole leg. Their motives, well meaning see only the short term result and not the BIG picture of loss of a constitutional RIGHT. I enjoy the the ability and right to go to the range for target practice, I don’t hunt, but I would not obstruct others to do so. Protecting yourself, family and property in that order is our right. What we need is a well conceived “plan” to address is how to keep weapons out of the hands of those not responsible, for lack of a better word. Figuring this out is the great issue, but blanket legislation is not the answer to the problem. As mentioned, those in power, elected or otherwise can and will take advantage of the situation, it happens every time whether there elected or take power by force.

Socialism is not much different than a dictatorship or even our republic if the person or persons in control has most of the citizen population under their control thru law or power. That is what makes our republic unique, the majority rules or it used to, now special interests of all kinds intend to impart their will on the masses. All lives matter not just one color, one race or one ethnicity.

I have not answered my own question, on how and by what mechanism, but once that is accomplished we will have achieved something great.

I can see no legitimate reason why someone would want to climb Mt. Everest either. Or own 25 corvettes or whatever they want to do. I also see no legitimate reason why anyone would want to date that heffer either but each to their own. People actually voted this troll into office.? This is why we should live in a democracy and not a republic.

      • Aunt Jane November 13, 2015, 12:57 pm

Say WHAT??? The loss of our democratic republic IS the problem. And yeah people did actually vote this troll into office. Our constitution worked reasonably fine until it was rewritten by those who know what’s best for everyone. No the USA has never been perfect but it’s the best system anyone’s come up with!

    • James LaFoy November 13, 2015, 9:25 am

      Typical over reach.

2nd AMENDMENT states we the gun owners of america are the backup for the military and defenders of FREEDOM, would u have us defend u with flintlock’s , WAKE UP!!!!

      • McRuger November 13, 2015, 10:40 am

Remember, this kind of crap has nothing to do with public safety and they know it. This is all about control of we who are now considered Domestic Terrorists. The socialists cannot complete their transformation while WE have arms to defend liberty. All of whats going on now in this country is part of the United Nations plan for One World Government. American freedom is the UNs biggest problem. The Socialists are taking our guns a piece at a time and if another socialist moves into the White House it will be over.

    • JOHN T. FOX November 13, 2015, 4:00 pm

A FAT, UGLY AND STUPID WOMAN WHO IS A GUN VIRGIN!

    • Edward November 13, 2015, 4:48 pm

I see no legitimate reason that this person should be able to vote or have a place in any office of any type above picking up garbage from the roadside.

    • SkyGunner November 13, 2015, 5:22 pm

With practically every state legislature, city councils, etc. screaming they have no money. Idiots making laws such as this would be doing away with a large source of income for them, every year. Sounds like their cutting their throats .

    • Herm November 13, 2015, 7:02 pm

I can see no reason why anyone would need a fork but it looks like she over uses hers. That isn’t a good reason to outlaw something and make the owners of such object a felon. Because you can’t understand why someone else wants something or wants to do something doesn’t mean they should be put in jail. First thing it means is that if you are concerned, you should study the situation a bit, not go straight to the decision that they are evil and should be punished because they don’t agree with the way you think.

    • Tony November 13, 2015, 7:21 pm

Please provide whoever runs against these idiots and I will donate the campaign.

    • henryknox November 13, 2015, 8:58 pm

This is a very dangerous representative. I hope common sense would rule the day and the bill would be laughed out of the chamber and she would be voted out of office. Send her to Paris where she would be much more at home.

    • Jay November 14, 2015, 4:51 am

Well, since they claim they want to make people safer from gun violence, simply point out that so called “assault weapons” (which by all previous and government, ie military, definitions are full auto or multiple round burst capable) are used in less than 1% of all crimes, they can drop their ban. If they don’t, point out what lousy, stinking bald faced liars they really are!
The second thing to do is to ask, since assault weapon bans have proven to have no negative impact on crime in general and have admitted to not being able to prevent mass shootings in particular, (every liberal politicians favorite occurrence) just what is their reasons or motives for attempting to deprive law abiding citizens (the only ones who will be affected by such laws) are in any case.
Oh, that’s right. When you bring up true facts to liberals claims about wanting to keep people safe, they hurl death threats against you.
The one thing I can’t stand the most about liberals is how they so hardily accuse conservatives especially of being and doing everything the liberal does or claims to believe. (Ie “intolerant,” lying, cheating, anti-American, &tc, & etc., so on and so on, and blah blah blah!)

    • Greg Lamb November 14, 2015, 2:29 pm

I live in New York State and due to the “SAFE “ act no one can buy an AR or AK rifle any more, they had been banned in this lovely communist state. Hopefully I can move out of New York soon, and move south of Virginia were constitution is still the law!
The second circuit ruled against the people on the SAFE act, now the case-suit goes to the Supreme court. If the Supreme court rules against the people also, then there may be a wave of blue states who will try to enact their own version of Andrew Coumo’s “SAFE” act! This is also why the communists do want registration and they don’t want people building “ghost” guns! One positive note millions of gun owners showed their disdain for these commie politicians, in an act of civil disobedience, by not registering their guns!

I wonder if the term ISIS or recent events in Paris mean anything to her?

    • ThePatriot November 16, 2015, 12:54 am

      To Lisa Subeck….

If you think we are going to give up our firearms while you dumbasses in any local, state or national office cannot even stop, keep nor guarantee to keep our streets of the United States clean and clear of ISIS terrorist cells then you are going to have another guess coming.

We have no problem to rekindle another national Revolution the day any confiscation of any guns begins in this country.

GIVE US LIBERTY OR GIVE US DEATH !!!

      The Patriot
