Watch as 60,000 Bump Stocks Are Destroyed

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Authors S.H. Blannelberry This Week

This Tuesday marked the launch of a new holiday, “National Destroy Your Bump Stock Day.” To celebrate the occasion, 60,000 bump stocks were crushed by an industrial strength shredder at a recycling facility in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) oversaw the destruction of the reciprocating stocks, which were supplied by Texas-based retailer RW Arms.

Unlike any other national holiday, participation in National Destroy Your Bump Stock Day is compulsory. Owners of the firearm part who refuse to either turn it over to their local ATF field office or destroy it face a felony offense which may include a fine of $250,000 and up to 10 years in prison.

As you’re undoubtedly aware, National Destroy Your Bump Stock Day was created by the Trump administration in 2018 which unilaterally decided that this device was to be redefined as a “machinegun” despite previous ATF determinations articulating that it is a “firearm part” and “is not regulated as a firearm under the Gun Control Act or the National Firearms Act.”

RW Arms acquired their inventory of 60,000 bump stocks from SlideFire Solutions, the original manufacturer of bump stocks after SlideFire closed its doors last year. Before the “holiday” kicked in, RW Arms was selling them for $100-$450 a piece. Yet, despite the millions of dollars in lost revenue, RW Arms did not seem too upset about the development.

“As of March 26, all bump stocks are officially banned. Any remaining stocks must be destroyed and are illegal. Our remaining inventory is being crushed, but we’re not all down about it. We still have several top-name brand products available on RWArms.com. As we continue to grow as your leading firearm parts retailer, we will continually keep you updated on important industry news,” the company said on Facebook.

The founder of Open Carry Texas CJ Grisham, on the other hand, refuses to participate in National Destroy Your Bump Stock Day. This party-pooper argued that the holiday violates his Second Amendment rights.

“I am absolutely not going to turn my bump stock in because it’s not illegal to have a bump stock,” Grisham told CBSDFW.

“I fought for these rights,” Grisham, a retired Army 1SG, continued “I fought for the rights to keep and bear arms. If I’m going to fight overseas for those liberties, I’m sure as heck not going to give up and home and not fight for them.”

How unpatriotic of Grisham not to join in on the fun. I mean, what’s more fun than to take something you spent your hard-earned dollars on and break it so it’s completely useless? Or, by the same token, to turn that thing over to the government and receive no compensation for it. Basically, piss away money. Now, that’s a great time, right?

With an estimated 500,000 bump stocks in circulation, National Destroy Your Bump Stock Day must’ve been a huge success.

You know, I was going to join my fellow revelers in the celebration but the strangest thing happen. All my bump stocks were suddenly stolen. So, I can’t destroy what I no longer own. Oh well.

Did you celebrate National Destroy Your Bump Stock Day?

(Editor’s note: This article employed the use of sarcasm.  There is no such thing as National Destroy Your Bump Stock Day.  Hopefully, that was obvious.)

I’ve never owned a bump stock. At the present I don’t have an AR15 or an AK47 in my possession.I do own several 12 Gauge Shotguns with very potent defensive ammunition.I do know how I would react if law enforcement was running up and down my street demanding that I surrender the only way I have to defend my family. This is the United States,we have a Constitution which has a 2ND Amendment that guarantees us the right bear arms most rightfully in our homes. These Extremest Far Left Radical Socialist Liberals soon to give birth to Hardcore Communism would totally disarm every law abiding citizen in America if they could.
And,please don’t try to me about the capabilities of an AR15 with or without a bump stock as I carried a M16 during the Vietnam War.You say what the hell does any of this have to do with the issue here about the bump stock? This is possibly,I say possibly a test run,to see just how far John Doe American can be pushed and will tolerate before he pushes back.

I had sold a bump fire stock a few years back, but I still wanted to do my part. Therefore, I cut the right side belt loops off of all my range pants. Sorry 5.11, but you have those nice reinforced belt loops, obviously designed for thumb bump firing. We are all safer now.

I’m a Native American (Apache)US Army Veteran and I’m actually sitting back laughing at a lot of the piss and moaners who are concerned about losing their hi tech toys and accessories…take a stand. Do you know how many times the US Government told my people and other Native People you may keep your rifles for hunting only to have them taken so we could starve and if you weren’t believed about not having a rifle or any firearms your lodge or home could be burned down and your horse taken or killed but our deepest fear was our family’s being taken away or killed…are you prepared for the reality of that picture being painted again only this time to all Americans…having Constitutional Rights were something we didn’t receive until 50 or 60 years ago even later in some states. I know that I took an Oath to uphold and Defend that Constitution against all enemies Foreign and Domestic and that Oath was for Life!!! Know this…they will come…andif you don’t stand up and stop conceding everything it’s just a matter of time and where and when!!

  • SuperG April 1, 2019, 11:10 am

Well ATF, you didn’t listen to the citizenry and instead chose to be a political sycophant, so I guess you’ll understand these words better, Sieg Heil!

  • Tim March 29, 2019, 4:49 pm

We need to get over this and move on. Banning machineguns did not destroy the Second Amendment. Bump-stocks were a clever ploy to circumvent the (very sensible) restriction and put machineguns back into play. If you meet the stringent requirements, you can own a machinegun but they should not be in wide circulation. It’s been fun but we all knew it would never last. Fighting the ban makes us look like a bunch of trigger-happy warrior wannabes. Join the Marines. They’ll give you a first-rate MG for free.

    • Mike V March 30, 2019, 3:24 am

I love your comment at the end. You don’t get it. This isn’t about us having a good time at the range. Ad hominem is embarrassing, you can do better.

    • Scotty Gunn March 30, 2019, 4:10 pm

Thank you for sacrificing our rights, one step at a time.

    • Godfrey Washington March 30, 2019, 5:33 pm

Funny thing is I don’t recall at any point in history the US Marines standing against the US Government. Because right now the National Government are the enemy of the people. They have found thousands of law abiding civilians guilty of crimes they did not commit. And the government is not hesitating to punish them.

They can keep their free MG, I’ll keep my God given freedom of choice.

    • jrkmt1 March 31, 2019, 1:40 am

Your statement is rather contradictory. First you say that machine guns are banned. Then, two sentences later you say that a person can own one “If you meet the stringent requirements”. If one can meet certain requirements, then an item isn’t banned. It is merely restricted. However, the 1986 Firearm Owners Protection Act did ban private ownership of full auto firearms made after May 1986. All full auto items made before May 1986 are still legal to own under the 1934 National Firearms Act.
As to joining the Marines (or Army, Air Force, or Navy), they will not “give” you a first-rate machine gun. Give means they are transferring ownership to you. They are not. It is only issued to you for temporary use and only at specified, supervised times.

    • Rob March 31, 2019, 9:00 am

Inherent rights are not subject to the whims of majority rule or minority whining.

    • Frank Staples March 31, 2019, 8:01 pm

Are you being serious, Tim? A bump stock did NOT make a machine gun out of a semi-auto and I’m too damn old to join the Marines…and I’ve already served my time in the service of our once great country. As the number of guns in law abiding hands in this country goes up, guess what? Violent crime is coming down but the liberal press won’t report it. Why not? Your comment doesn’t really sound like it’s coming from a man who will help protect our rights!

    • Solomon April 2, 2019, 12:26 am

Tim, wtf is wrong with you? Just because you personally do not want a machine gun or a bump stock, you are graciously willing to watch big brother turn your neighbors, family, friends, and other productive members of society into criminals? Slippery F’ing slope my friend.

    • Jaque October 29, 2019, 9:30 pm

Another Fudd reveals their ignorance. A “clever ploy” to circumvent the NFA he claims.

No ploys whatsoever. The inventor of the bump stock submitted his design to the ATF who approved it as a non gun lawful for use. The way bump stocks were turned into machine guns by the ATF was the true clever ploy. The entire set of firearms laws are a clever ploy by government to entrap gun owners and builders. The FBI used clever ploys to entrap Candidate and President Trump and associates.

But buyers of bump stocks were exercising their rights as Americans to buy and use a lawful product. No ploy was needed.

    • Bad Penguin December 11, 2019, 9:25 am

UMMM You are aware that Machine guns are crew swerved weapons right? Even the smallest ones weigh more than 20 pounds. Seriously doubt people are going to be hiding them in their pants to carry around.

  • kb31416 March 29, 2019, 4:26 pm

The issue really isn’t the bump stocks, but the process by which they were banned by executive fiat. What might have Obama banned by fiat if he thought that he could get away with it? What precedent does this set?

    • Erik April 2, 2019, 7:45 pm

It doesn’t have anything with republicans nor democrats and especially Obama, because D. Trump is the one who brought this law in 2018.

  • Clint W. March 29, 2019, 1:32 pm

Martin Neimoller wrote a famous poem about not standing up for something during the reign of the Facists in 1930’s Germany. It could be re-written using firearm terminology and would apply today just as effectively as the original poem, which was ignored.

First they came for the bump stocks, and I did not speak out—because I did not own one.

Then they came for the pistols, and I did not speak out— because I did not think they were really necessary if you owned a rifle.

Then they came for the semi-automatic rifles, and I did not speak out—because I used a bolt action.

Then they came for my guns -and there was no one left to speak for me.

  • kenny smith March 29, 2019, 12:53 pm

one guy doing something crazy shouldn’t have any affect on millions not doing something crazy. at least that’s what i thought would happen in a free country.

  • Norm Fishler March 29, 2019, 11:42 am

I’ve never owned or even wanted one. They seemed to me as mental masturbation. However with the 2A still in place I fully believe that others have the right to own them if they so choose. What we have here is simply another slice off the 2A loaf. This is a deceptively big chunk and, as usual, the highly esteemed and revered NRA has thrown a portion of American gun owners under the bus. Pretty sad actually. I hope this is waking a lot of good folks up to the futility of trusting the NRA for anything.

  • BRUCE P. MARSTON March 29, 2019, 10:02 am

YOU HAVN’T SEEN ANYTHING YET ! THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THE END AND ALL OF OUR GUNS ARE NEXT. WE WILL NEVER STOP THE SCUM THAT WE HAVE ELECTED TO “PROTECT OUR CONSTITUTION”. THESE LOW-LIFES HAVE ONLY ONE THING IN MIND! POWER! DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME AND EFFORT TRYING TO STOP THEM-JUST SIT BACK AND WAIT FOR THE END! BOTH SIDES ARE EVIL TO THE CORE.

  • BigC March 29, 2019, 9:06 am

I’m as pro-2nd Amendment as anyone but I don’t really see the need for bump stocks. I know a lot see the ban as the first step to total confiscation, I don’t see it as that and when you dog President Trump just consider what the alternative was and thank your lucky star THAT didn’t happen!!

    • Mike V March 29, 2019, 9:44 am

I’m tired of, we’ll it could have been worse mentality. Eventually it does get worse. Look at New Zealand. Had stricter laws than us in many ways. One crime, and poof no more guns.

I want to win, not gradually cede ground. This is America, this is what we the sons and daughters of 1776 have to put up with?

    • SayNoToGunControl March 29, 2019, 11:21 am

I don’t recall it being a bill of needs, BigC (I can guess what C stands for).
You sound like an astroturf “hunter” Boob-berg tried to roll out in commercials for “common sense gun control.”
Why don’t you tuck your tail back between your cheeks and scuttle back off to Moms Autistically Screech for Gun Control.

      • randy March 29, 2019, 2:51 pm

is it necessary to attack one of our own like that??If he is not exactly on to your own beliefs is he “one of them”.Check yourself man.

  • Jay March 29, 2019, 7:32 am

Well here it is, the moment of truth and now half a million citizens at least, have been made felons by government over reach and unlimited submission to UN-constitutional laws! More to follow, just sit back and watch, this is only a test!

  • Nick March 29, 2019, 7:06 am

Time to take our country and our freedom back.

  • Turkish Bricktop March 29, 2019, 5:40 am

    What a strange coincidence;
Everyone I know had there’s stolen!

  • Mike V March 28, 2019, 9:54 pm

From the NRAs statement on Dec 21, “We continue to pursue the availability of a period of amnesty with the administration.”

And that’s it, the most important gun rights organization planned to talk to the most pro second amendment President, and how did that go?

You’d almost think that was just talk…

  • Mike V March 28, 2019, 9:46 pm

And naturally the Supreme Court refuses to step in. John Roberts already had done so. Sotomayor referred it to the court and they also declined.

Nothing to see, it is now ok and normal for an agency to reverse almost a decade of its own interpretations, which were also right interpretations. In doing so, turns a half million people into felons, or forces them to destroy their property without compensation.

No big deal. Not the Supreme Courts problem.

No big deal. Not the Congress’s problem.

No big deal. Not the Presidents problem.

No big deal. Not the NRAs problem.

Every day I’ve checked NRA ILA to see if they were gonna have something to say about this, for some odd reason I keep expecting to see a course correction, especially as the date drew near and the reality of so many people being forced to chose between compliance at the cost of their property and some dignity as a free person, or keep their property and their dignity and face the possibility of being fined or imprisoned.

  • Nicks87 March 28, 2019, 4:08 pm

Good riddance to bad trash. I’m as pro 2nd amendment as anybody but the bump stock is not the hill to die on in the war for gun rights. It’s a novelty toy, let it go…

    • Turkisk Bricktop March 29, 2019, 5:45 am

So how many more ‘hill tops’ before they have crossed the line in the sand? A lobster on slow boil doesn’t know until it’s too late!

      • John March 29, 2019, 8:12 am

If you look at all the other gimmicks and devices to make a weapon full auto that are banned this one should have never been approved in the first place. But since they did approve it people should have been allowed to pay a $200.00 tax stamp just like any other NFA device to keep it.

        • T. Scott March 29, 2019, 12:45 pm

I completely agree. The government just missed a chance to make at least $100,000,000, and they completely missed their chance. Once again, hundreds of millions of dollars of hard earned money is flushed away, pepe forced to destroy their property or face jail. This is almost as bad as the Lautenberg Ammendment, with all those people forced to give up firearms with no chance of getting their money back. Or the great New Orleans gun grab. The list keeps growing, when does it end?

    • Mike V March 29, 2019, 6:31 am

Don’t want to die on that hill?

Half a million Citizens are given the choice to become felons or destroy their rightfully possessed property without compensation.

      You’re looking at it wrong.

You’re fixating on the “piece of plastic” and it’s uselessness to you.

You should be focused on the abuse of power, the wretched process and the precedent this sets.

      • joefoam March 29, 2019, 8:23 am

My thoughts exactly. How could you even jokingly celebrate the violation of the constitutional amendments regarding taking without compensation. What if it were decided that your car was dangerous, would you celebrate the uncompensated loss when it went to the crusher? It seems all ideas of fairness and equal justice under the law are tossed when it comes to guns.

    • Jay March 29, 2019, 7:26 am

Nicks87, your a fool, it has little to do with the fact it’s a “toy” as you want to call it. What about those large capacity magazines, there toys too, or binary triggers, or a night vision scope, the toy list is long!
