WATCH: Idiot Tries to Rob Car Spa with Slide Locked Back
Surveillance footage released by the Car Care Auto Spa shows the encounter.

An armed robbery attempt was foiled last month in Chicago when a business owner grabbed the suspect’s gun and chased him out.

James Suh, owner of Car Care Auto Spa in the Windy City, was at work one evening when “all of a sudden, it’s just, ‘hey give me all of your money,'” he told ABC7Chicago in a recent interview.

He looked up to see a man with a gun leveled at his face. At first, trying to de-escalate the scenario, he stalled as the man continued demanding money, explaining that a key was necessary for the cash drawer to be unlocked.

Suh is a concealed carry license holder, although his firearm was unfortunately absent during the incident.

During the verbal exchange, Suh noticed something about the robber’s pistol.

“He kinda like tries to rack his gun and it looked to me like it got jammed, the slide was locked back,” Suh explained.

In a moment that Suh later identified as a purely emotional decision, he grabbed at the gun, and the robber tried to evade him.

Surveillance footage shows the fight that ensued inside the shop, in which Suh eventually gained control of the pistol. The attacker then fled the scene.

Police are saying that while the footage has been studied, no arrests have been made yet. Luckily there were no injuries, a detail that could easily have been different had Suh not been prepared.

Emphasizing that the decision he made was risky, police instruct others to not follow Suh’s course of action if faced with a similar circumstance.

But with crime on the rise, perhaps it’s time for more business owners to get their CCL the way that Suh did — they just need to remember to have it on their person while at work!

Mr. Suh did a good job stopping this idiot. One thing that most criminals can’t be accused of is being smart. Kinda like the d party.

My hat is off to mr. Suh. Calm, cool. Even with the risk, I thought he handled it well. Good job, sir

I watched the video and you can’t tell if the magazine in the pistol is loaded. I saw the would-be robber rack the slide and then it stays back, but maybe it was just jammed and not locked back on an empty magazine. Neither Suh nor the police commented on whether the gun was loaded or not. In any case, as they said, trying to grab the gun was risky, because if the magazine was loaded the slide could have come forward at any time and Suh might have been shot. However, kudos to him for being brave, taking a risk, disarming the would-be robber and chasing him away. Hopefully the police will catch the guy and throw him in the slammer.

Pants on… gun on. Hoodie, mask or both… my hand is on my gun as soon as I see you.

I began carrying a concealed 1911 daily in Chicago at age 15 because I got cross wise with a real gangster. That was in 1962. It was illegal. Never got caught. I was a respectful and clean cut kid… popular and friendly.

After military service and college overseas I returned to Chicago and carried again. Same 1911. Illegal. No problems. I did a lot of freelance security work… overseas and in Chicago. Always armed.

While attending night law school I rode the L every night at 9 pm. By then I was switching up with a .357 S&W model 13 with a 3 inch barrel. Again illegal. Again no problems.

Actually had to use both firearms a couple of times while in Chicago but I was smart and prudent enough to not get in trouble.

After I became a lawyer I was able to finagle a badge to carry legally.

Moved to Texas 25 years ago.

I would beat him like a rented mule with his own firearm . . .

I see it all the time at the gun show/petting zoo; people handling pistols, racking the slide on an empty mag, then struggling mightily to figure out why it won’t go forward.

Crook probably stole the gun but forgot to steal the ammo. LOL

The store owner should have beaten that fool to death with his own gun.

Well…regardless of a stupid permit, always carry concealed especially in high risk areas. Many with clean records will never get a permit because of the leftist jurisdictions they live in. Who will pay for the large hospital bills if you survive an attack? How about the family of the victim(s)? If they die, all they will get are a report and the usual half-hearted condolences 💐from police and their government ilk. If that man is originally from Korea, he served in the military, so Koreans are not ones to back away from a fight if it especially involves their very lives.

    Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!

It looked to me that the firearm in question was a Beretta 92. If the magazine is empty, the slide will lock open after racking. So, was the firearm loaded or not?

This was my thought as well. Looks like he was trying to rob the guy with an empty gun haha

    Loved it !

The criminal idiot couldn’t figure out how to unlock
    the slide . What a fool .
The store employee sure could though .
Good Man . Give him a Daniel Webster cigar .

I bet he’ll carry his gun from now on and not leave it at home in the safe. That CCW licence only works if you have a gun to back it up. Shame he wasn’t able to take another thug out of the gene pool.

Since the robber did not stick around to ask, I wonder if he thought that by having the slide locked to the rear would get him out of an armed robbery, attempted murder charge? Heads up on the part of the victim to recognize the situation and react accordingly.
