Watch Ridiculously Stupid Anti-Gun PSA

Authors S.H. Blannelberry

Wow. Just Wow. This anti-gun PSA, produced by Sleeper13 Productions, might be the dumbest video I’ve watched in years. Seriously, it’s laughable stupid.

If you haven’t watched it yet, it depicts a teen or pre-teen boy stealing a firearm from his mom’s dresser, bringing it to school, then turning it over to a teacher while dejectedly saying, “Can you take this away? I don’t feel safe with a gun in my house.”

What’s the point of the video? It’s not really clear. Is the boy taking the firearm away from the mom because she’s mentally unstable? The mother doesn’t look like she’s a head case (she’s reading a book at the outset of the video). Why is this boy afraid of the gun, which may be his mother’s primary means of defending not only herself, but her ungrateful, wussified son? Then again, perhaps he is the one suffering from mental illness. In which case, he ought to tell his mother to buy a gun safe or to keep her firearms in a more secure location we he can not readily access them. Why bring it to a teacher, in a school, where – by bringing on school grounds – he is breaking a ton of different firearm laws: possession of a firearm by a minor, unlawful concealed carry, possession of a firearm on school grounds, felony gun theft, among others?

All these questions are unclear. So the viewer is left to surmise a meaning. For me, the PSA is an attempt to demonize firearms while perpetuating the false promise that we deserve a “safe” society.

Does the mother look mentally unfit to you?

Does the mother look mentally unfit to you?

To start with the first point firearms are inanimate tools incapable of harming anyone without an individual to handle or mishandle them. By themselves, firearms present no real danger. In other words, the gun isn’t going to sneak out of the drawer one night and shoot the teen on its own accord. It lacks agency. Yet the PSA seems to suggest that the gun — in and of itself — is inherently dangerous. Which is lunacy, really. And by an extension of that logic, the teen should also start turning over rope, hammers, kitchen cutlery, etc. basically any implement that can be used by one to injure himself or others.

“Can you take this away? I don’t feel safe with kitchen shears in my house.” If the kid was suicidal or mentally unstable, then I’m fine with him admitting to his family and his teachers that he shouldn’t be around tools that he could use to injure others. That’s a perfectly fine message. And if that’s the message, the conclusion of the video should show him being committed to a mental health facility. But the PSA gave us no such indication that that was the case.

Instead, and to the second point, it underscores the idea that “Our children deserve a safe world.” To me, that’s bullshit. It’s a lie, like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny because “safety” is a relative term that depends upon one’s ability to actively confront danger, not on one’s capacity to pretend it doesn’t exist. That’s right. Our children deserve to know the truth that the real world is dangerous and unpredictable place. One wants to be safer? It starts with understanding this fact. From that point, one should come to realize that a safe society isn’t deserved, rather it’s created and preserved by men and women with guns. Whether it’s a law enforcement officer or a law-abiding citizen, good guys with guns keep bad guys in check. That’s a fact. Then it’s up to the individual to decide whether he or she wants to take responsibility for his or her own safety or whether he or she wants to rely on others for his or her safety. Either way, nothing’s guaranteed. That said, I know what side I’m on, and I’ve known it since I was a boy.

Overall, I think it’s time to stop lying to children beyond a certain age. I think it’s time to start educating them on the real choices that they have to make.

In any event, those are my thoughts. What did you think of the video?

I would be stoked if I were that teacher. A free smoke wagon.

What is happening to our country, these people are so brainwashed into thinking that the gun is going to run around the house and kill everyone it sees. This kid is a social failure who will depend on the government to save him from every threat that comes his way, Socialism at its Finest. “Everyone Wins a Prize” mentality has to be flushed down the toilet now before it turns our country into a Pile of Shit and Everyone Loses.

Should the mother have kept the gun more secure….yes. Maybe a trigger lock, maybe a locked drawer, maybe a safe, although a log of good that will do unless it can be opened quickly. This actor is playing a child who knew there was a gun in the house and felt unsafe. Nothing is said about the background but one would assume a child would tell his mother that he felt this way and that the parent would have attempted to address the issue. All of that notwithstanding the whole point of this is that the child is so concerned that he brings the gun to school. Is this really an example of what we want our children to do when they feel unsafe? Do we really what our children to put more reliance on a teacher than a parent? What the hell is the mindset of the idiot who created this and what do they think the message is to any child who watches this video. If the anti-gun establishment is trying to make a point, this was a horrible way of expressing it. In most of the big cities in this country, this kid would have been charged with a felony…something that would and could affect his life forever. This is why most people don’t pay attention to the anti-gunners. They are so blatantly stupid it defines description and logic.

Basically the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen and advocating theft from parents. Advocating weakness in America is what the psa really seems to be about.

  • brad July 16, 2016, 2:10 am

I believe you are forgetting 1 important fact, the child bringing the weapon to school would be instantly expelled from school and probably charged with a crime and so would the mother. this video doesn’t show the many lives it would have destroyed by 1 being a rat, 2 trusting a public official more than there own parent. truly a disgusting video just shows the intellect of people willing to blame an object instead of working to solve much more pressing issues

HAHAHAHAHAHA I thought he was gonna try on his mommy’s dress. Yes he should be arrested for taking a gun on school grounds and if he wasn’t feeling safe about a gun being in the house he should of told his mother to buy a safe, that she already should of had in the first place. I guess all of us responsible gun owners are supposed to be portrayed as the bad guy. It’s funny to me how these anti gun weirdoes want to take them away, but they are usually the first people to come running for help when it hits the fan. Here’s a piece of advice for the weirdoes . If you don’t want a gun fine but at the very least gain some knowledge before you shoot your mouth off about something you know very little about. Just another Bloomberg/Feinstein/ Obama ball of crap to try to brain wash people who really need to be taught the real truth about ownership and the safety that a gun provides a family. This country was built by guns and everything we as Americans stand for will be lost if they try to take them away from us . DON’T LET THEM TAKE OUR FREEDOM AWAY !

  • ISTANDTOPEE January 7, 2015, 3:21 am

WHAT THE HELL. The kid waited till class is over to turn in the gun. WTF He should be arrested. If he was concerned of not feeling safe with the gun he should have not touched it then immediately called the police.

  • Richard Glynn January 6, 2015, 10:40 pm

I agree with all the posters here. However, this PSA is even more outrageous for showing a classroom with so few students in it. Come on, where does this kid go to school? This classroom would be most teachers’ dream.

  • bigduke613 January 6, 2015, 3:25 am

The only reason the puke would not feel safe is because he knows nothing about guns and just made his house truly unsafe. The PSA (Purely stupid ad) says stop gun violence. Well…the only violence likely to take place in that house now would be an assault(s) against either the mom, the uneducated/leftist brainwashed kid, or both now that there is no gun in the house to protect them both.

Yeah we do deserve a safe society, but shoving your pointed head in the sand does not make it so. Get real, defend yourselves, and educate kids, (and adults) to the realities of societies (all societies) that have violent pukes that need to be stopped with equal or greater force than they perpetrate on the innocent and righteous. Just sayin.

  • Brett M. Biggerstaff January 6, 2015, 2:31 am

I don’t want to knit-pick the details of this ridiculous ad, but to anyone who knows firearms it’s clear when he lays the weapon on the teacher’s desk (scaring the crap out of her, by the way) that junior has just stolen the BB gun his mother probably took away from him in the first place! If it were a real gun, I would hope that the parent would be responsible enough to keep it secured in a gun safe.

  • Kane January 5, 2015, 11:17 pm

The makers on the PSA felt the gun was in a more safe circumstance while being transported a student’s backpack and then pulled out and placed on the teachers desk as opposed to being in the dresser drawer in the owner’s bedroom? This is the best the ad the antis could come up with? Would not feel real safe around any brainwashed kids that steal property then endangers classmates and anyone else that crossed their path but apparently the antis do encourage such unlawful and reckless behavior.

There was never a time in the last 23+ years, which is the age of my oldest son, that I have not owned and kept at the ready a firearm of some sort available 24/7. I took the time to instruct, train and encourage not only marksmanship, and self-preservation to ALL my family members, but first and foremost firearm SAFETY! Not once ever did anyone of my 3 children or wife, ever feel that they were not safe with a gun in our home. As a matter of fact, they have expressed just the opposite, that they were glad that their father was willing to do whatever it would take to defend their lives, and over all safety. Yes, children are naturally curious, and crafty as well savvy. If you make your weapon a dark closeted secret, your children will do all in their power, and then some to get to that secret and “try it out”. It is a gun owner’s responsibility to keep his/her firearm/s secure, while exercising some leadership in discipline, instruction, and guidance. My children were not not only exposed to my firearms, but were trained, and were granted the opportunity to shoot them at the range, once they showed proficiency in gun-safety. Just keep in mind that for well over two centuries this nation’s children were raised with access to pistols, as well as rifles. Some were for hunting, but others were also for good old fashion self-defense. Remember that picture of the Pilgrims prodding through the snow; the men led the way with their muskets at the ready the Preacher toted the Bible, and the women secured the children. A very simple, yet profound message: God, guts, and guns! Personally, I carry a gun because a cop is just too heavy, nor are any of them capable of being omnipresent. FIDELIS AD MORTEM.

  • Dennis Siegler January 5, 2015, 8:16 pm

Next thing you know, the kid will find his mom’s stash of weed, and bring that to school too! Where does it stop? Why not open the lines of communication between the parents and the children? If the kid has problems with the parents, bring him to a psychologist?

  • VoRTeX9090 January 5, 2015, 6:47 pm

When i was in 4th grade, one of my classmates` parents sent their kid to school with a wine and cheese platter for the teacher for xmas. The kid got expelled and the parents got fined for their minor having alcohol and a knife on school grounds. A CHEESE knife! And that was back in `92. Youd think any kid since the Columbine tragedy would know not to bring a gun to school. I dont want to live on this planet anymore.

  • Russ January 5, 2015, 6:34 pm

    In the real world where firearms enthusiast live;
The child would know all about that pistol and know he should never go near it.
The Mother would have it locked away and there would be no unauthorized access to it.
But then again, I’m talking about the real world, not fairyland or everytown where the mindless roam.

Nothing really worth the time watching here, or wasting time talking about. NEXT !

  • Nick Timperio January 5, 2015, 4:56 pm

I would like to see someone or some group with the money make a video of what would happen to the little thief, jerk, snitch, future Nazi, in the real world. Show all the laws he broke and what he reaps as a “reward” for his stupidity. Another point that should be made is to talk to your parents first.

  • Alabama January 5, 2015, 3:23 pm

Hitler encouraged youth to tell on their parents too.

  • Brian Bartos January 5, 2015, 12:36 pm

This had to be the dumbest psa I have seen in a long time. I agree with everything that the original reveiwer said. When are these idiots going to grow a brain?

  • Russ January 5, 2015, 11:55 am

Stupidest thing I have ever seen as far as a PSA goes. It sometimes seems that uninformed dumb azzes have more money than common sense. This is liberal progressives trying to make people and children be afraid of guns. Guarantee if you loaded that gun and left it in the dresser ( I personally would have it in a holster but again they are trying to make legal gun owners look like irresponsible people) it would not harm a soul. Sheep will always be fooled by the foolish.

  • mike January 5, 2015, 11:33 am

This PSA was totally illegal to create…NOBODY can get permission to have a anyone other than LEO handle weapons on school property. Movie set, nope.

  • Les Center January 5, 2015, 8:59 am

The video is still up on YouTube. Search for “Stop Gun Violence”.

  • Preston Dannelley December 25, 2014, 10:31 pm

      • Lars January 5, 2015, 8:41 am

Video gives “This video is private” error notice. Geek THAT, geek. 😉

  • Chris December 23, 2014, 2:04 pm

I’d like to see the PSA where the Dad kicks the shit out of his son for doing something so stupid and for stealing from his own parents (especially in WA state w/ I-594 passed. It doesn’t seem like a legal transfer?), suspended from school and possible charges filed for bringing a loaded gun to school.

While the boy was at it he should have called the family doctor and told them that they had a gun in the house, since doctors under Obama care are urged to ask your children or the adults that will answer, If there is a gun in their home?

The anti gun left is even trying to turn your own children against you because they don’t believe in the 2nd amendment and have forgotten how this country was formed. In that PSA it looked more like a single Mom that has a firearm in her home to protect her and her son in case their is an intruder in the middle of the night. To protect her and her son from a violent attack and from him possible seeing his mother potential beaten to death, raped or both in front of him.

    • Dan Bojalad January 5, 2015, 9:22 am

Get a lawyer, fight to have the obnoxious brat removed from the house. If the kid is that stupid, you can be sure he will cause many more problems later on. I do believe all guns should be locked up in a manner where stupid kids, or others, can’t get access. The so called psa is encouraging kids to steal guns from parents and take them to school. How many laws were broken in this scenario ?What a stupid, jackass dumbell came up with this nonsense. Good Grief !!!!!!

    • John Werner January 5, 2015, 11:14 am

What if the mom’s a cop? What if she has had a recent stalker, and is now attacked?

I agree that the gun should have been better secured than in a dresser drawer, but even if it was, kids will do stupid things to find it.

      • John C. Calhoun January 6, 2015, 9:43 pm

Yeah, that’s right; have a gun for protection, but lock it up so you can’t get at it when it’s needed. The last thing I need when the shtf is fumbling with a key or a safe combination. I grew up in a house full of guns and children. I also grew up in a house where common sense and responsibility were taught from the beginning. Watching your children and teaching them to respect firearms is the way to keep them safe, not locking up your protection. Hell, if you’re going to do that, you might as well rely on a phone by your bed instead of a gun. After all, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away………

    • Herman January 7, 2015, 7:13 pm

Good idea. Get the evil thing out of the house. I am terrified of guns. When I was young my dad’s shotgun used to sneak out of the closet every evening, beat me up and steal my lunch money. OK, the preceding is sarcasm. Geez, the anti-gun morons will go to any limits to paint guns as some great evil. I was taught how to be safe with guns when I was very young. The ammo was kept out of my reach till I was six or so, but it was made very clear to me (verbally explained & visually demonstrated) what the capability of the guns was, what their purpose was and how to be safe. Just like a gas range for cooking or a sharp knife, guns are tools and need to be properly cared for so nobody gets hurt. Don’t give the mentally dysfunctional people dangerous things. For the rest of us, training is the key.
