WATCH: Sheriff’s Deputy Shoots Attacker Who Came After Him with a Knife

A sheriff’s deputy in Arizona shot a self-proclaimed ISIS fighter after the suspect threw rocks at the deputy and tried to attack him with a knife, local media reported last week. The suspect survived and was taken into custody where he’s facing two counts of terrorism as well as aggravated assault on a deputy.

Sheriff Paul Penzone released two 911 calls and the body cam footage connected with the January 7 incident. In the tapes, 18-year-old Ismail Hamed tells dispatchers that he “owes his allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria” and asks to meet with a deputy in order to “deal with him.”

He admits that he’s carrying “a couple rocks and a knife” with which he plans to “do something in protest for the people suffering in Palestine and in the Middle East.”

“I’d like to talk to [the deputies] face to face and see what solutions they’ll come up with,” he continues.

In the body cam footage, Hamed tells the deputy he’d “just like to talk about some political issues.”

“The wars we’re involved in are not good,” he continues. “It’s taking the country apart and people are suffering. It seems like we need to do something about it.”

When the deputy asks for Hamed’s identification, the suspect reaches towards his back pocket and begins throwing rocks at the deputy.

“Back off! Back off!” the deputy yells as Hamed walks towards him with a knife. “Back off! Drop it! Drop the knife! Drop the knife or I will shoot you!”

The deputy warns Hamed repeatedly before shooting him twice. Hamed falls to the ground and is later taken to a hospital.

Penzone told local media in January that Hamed was in the process of “radicalizing” and evidence shows his attempt to harm the deputy was to “promote terror.”

The FBI called Hamed a “homegrown violent extremist” and confirmed that he was not known to the FBI prior to this incident. They have not located any outstanding threats connected to Hamed.

What is this mass insanity in the Muslim world that people are willing to blow themselves up (or in this case, consciously do a suicide by cop)? They really think they are going get the 30 virgins or whatever in the afterlife? It is just crazy s&it.

If the video or documents are part of an on going investigation then they are not public documents or video until the investigation is complete and the court says they are. News organizations want everything right away, all the time, even if it would compromise the investigation. The police were absolutely correct not to release the video or doc’s till they were done and had followed all the legal requirements in their investigation. Both the officer’s and the suspect’s right’s had to be protected legally above all else regardless of what the media “wants”.

Some liberal attorney will sue the deputy and the department for failing to get the terrorist medical assistance promptly after the knife attack.
