Why Ted Nugent Resigned from the NRA Board of Directors

With the NRA Annual Meetings about a month away, there’s some rather shocking news making its way around the Internet.

Ted Nugent is resigning from the NRA board of directors after 26 years.

The reason?

“Scheduling conflicts.”

Hmmm.  Bizarre, right?

The Nuge is arguably the most famous member of the organization not named “Wayne LaPierre.”  He literally wrote a song called, “I am the NRA.”  Why would he exit now, when we’re all getting set to rally down in Houston next month, Sept. 3-5, for the first time in well over a year?  (NRAAM 2020 in Nashville was canceled due to COVID.)

In a statement on Facebook addressed to “Fellow NRA Board of Directors, Members, Friends and Second Amendment Warriors,” the motor city madman elaborated.

“The time has come for me to face the dangers of burning the candle at both ends.  I have been honored and humbled to represent all those great Americans that voted for me to serve on the NRA BOD for the last 26 years, and will not only continue my calling to fight for the return of the Second Amendment, but to actually increase my exposing and crushing those evil forces who would deny such basic freedoms to Americans,” he wrote.

“I was not voted onto the board as an accountant, administrator, paper shuffler or bureaucrat, but rather to lead the charge of the good guys against the bad guys in this vile culture war that has reached a deafening roar,” he continued.

The last part of the statement may be telling.  As Nugent may be vaguely referencing the NRA’s recent bankruptcy and restructuring efforts that have caused some members, gun owners and 2A supporters to publicly question the gun lobby’s leadership.

Maybe by stepping down Nugent is trying to distance himself from any of the rancor that might be directed at the BOD.  Or maybe, as he said, he is just stretched too thin between personal & professional obligations and his duties as a board member.

Whatever the reason, many will be sad to see him go. Because whether one loves or hates his “rock ‘n’ roll” style activism, no one can argue it hasn’t raised the profile of the NRA. And if it’s true that all publicity is good publicity, then having someone like Uncle Ted in your ranks is invaluable.

“I salute you and thank you for your never ending dedication to fight for our right to keep and bear arms, and though not sitting on the board with you, I will indeed be in the heat of battle on the not so main streets of America every damn day, as always,” said Nugent.

“So due to constant scheduling conflicts, I hereby resign my position on the NRA Board of Directors, wishing you well and Godspeed,” he concluded.

He’s probably frustrated with a sinking ship torpedoed by mismanagement and doesn’t want to alienate any more members by admitting the obvious. Allen West might right the ship. It’s definitely time for a change. I’m a Life Member, but my money is going to GOA until the management changes.

“I was not voted onto the board as an accountant, administrator, paper shuffler or bureaucrat, but rather to lead the charge of the good guys against the bad guys…”

    Interesting.

Compare this to what he said in 2019 (at thereload [dot] com):

“We need total transparency and accountability to the only important element of the NRA, and that is the ‘We The People’ membership,” he said in an interview at the time. “I promise to deliver that. ”

He called on the board to “open all the books” and make sure members’ dollars were “being spent effectively” after charges LaPierre and others spent millions on personal expenses, such as private flights and luxurious trips.

“When I go on tour, if I make $5 million, I can’t spend $10 million,” Nugent said. “It’s all a resounding ‘duh.’ Accountability in the most important civil rights organization in the world, that’s why I’m on the board.”

I’m sorry, but the L is pretty obvious.

Most interesting comments by BOD member T Knight about Nugent and Selleck’s apparent indifference toward their obligations as BOD members. I just really didn’t like Nugent. He just rubbed me the wrong way. He should have been a used car salesman. Never listened to his music either. Selleck, on the other hand, surprised me somewhat.

    • Comanche January 21, 2022, 9:36 am

      LOSER ALERT!!!%

  • T: Knight August 20, 2021, 4:35 pm

LOL. In my 4.5 years on the Board Ted came to one (1) Board meeting and he had to be cajoled to do so (Indianapolis, 2019) . He didn’t represent anyone at the meetings because he wasn’t there (except Indy) . When I joined the Board in 2015 I was told by several long serving members they had never seen him at a Board meeting. Same can be said for Mr. Selleck. They simply didn’t attend. Perhaps they both did in the beginning of their service. I love the “schedule conflict” excuses, Board meetings are known at least a year in advance. So missing one or maybe two a year. But all three? And then missing them for years. That is not representation in any form.

I don’t doubt Ted’s love of the 2nd Amendment one bit. But he didn’t take his responsibility as a director seriously.

Botd are going to be targeted by the NY ag. That and wlp has almost ran them off the cliff. Time to go

So what does the NRA Board of Directors actually do? Are they like a publicly traded company like Boeing, which has annual elections voted by stockholders & committees to oversee operations such as finance, audit & nominating board directors? How many directors are there? How often do they meet?

Is the NRA run like a for profit company? Do their directors receive a salary for the work they do?

    • Grumpy Old Biker October 1, 2021, 8:35 am

You’re being sarcastic and asking a bunch of stupid questions (stupid for asking them in this forum) just to rhetorically prove some point, right? You’re not seriously expecting someone to answer those questions are you? Ever heard of Google? Why ask a bunch of questions here? Are you that dumb?

  • Jim August 7, 2021, 3:41 am

    Ted Nugent for President !

  • Shawn G Lindsey August 6, 2021, 11:26 pm

The democrats want all of us to be totally dependent on the government for everything. They can’t even balance a checkbook. God help us for the next 4 years.

    • Matt August 7, 2021, 11:10 am

When we distanced ourselves from God by removing him from God & Country he distanced himself from us.
Basically saying we are on our own.
He said, “Don’t Call Me I’ll Call You” when I think you’ve had enough.

    • Rick August 7, 2021, 1:14 pm

Rats jumping ship. Ted took $60k from the members of the NRA. He charged them to sign guitars for charity. That’s $60k that could have went to fighting gun control. Every board member is sitting on members wallets. You’re nothing but a cash cow to them.

    • Lloyd R Elledge August 9, 2021, 5:53 pm

      Four years?

  • Terry August 6, 2021, 8:24 pm

Our 2A Rights Are Not Negotiable Period!

NRA has screwed US over several times with Politicians.

I will no longer support their Political Agenda…

  • The T August 6, 2021, 6:52 pm

You stated, “Now it seems to be a money tree, watered by everyday Patriots and harvested by the Big-shot lawyers that have taken it over.”
Big shot lawyers that do nothing. The NRA should be challenging every stupid gun control law by filing lawsuits.

  • JOHN T. FOX August 6, 2021, 3:49 pm

THE NRA HAS ADVOCATED MORE GUN CONTROL LAWS AND GOT THEM PASSED THAN ANY OTHER “PRO-GUN” ORG IN AMERICAN HISTORY! CCW LAWS, TRAINING REQUIREMENTS, AND NOW RED FLAG LAWS THEY ARE SUPPORTING! I QUIT THEM AT THE LAST ST. LOUIS SHOW. MET NUGENT THERE. YOU CAN’T GET A WORD IN EDGE WISE WITH THAT MAN!

    • Pantexan August 14, 2021, 11:50 am

      Your caps lock is on.

  • sargintrock August 6, 2021, 2:59 pm

Time fer my two cent’s worth. Ted like Alex, is a MAN who could squat at a camp fire with the likes of Boone and Crockett and Kenton or Jackson and Lincoln and not be ignored but welcomed with true appreciation and respect! He’s got True GRIT! It’s his call and I’m not privy to ALL that went into his decision, NONE OF MY BUSINESS! One thing fer sure, HE is still in the Fight!

    • Don August 7, 2021, 8:16 pm

sargintrock, I agree, and none of us know what’s been going on we just know it needs to be fixed

  • Good Shot August 6, 2021, 2:18 pm

It’s sad that You my friend has left the BOD NRA. You have been the #1 commanding voice for our 2A and our hunting rights.
God bless you and your family. Remember to kEEP UP THE FIRE.

  • Ed White August 6, 2021, 1:10 pm

I joined the NRA as a life member in 1966 because at that time it supported and sponsored firearms safety, promoted shooting for competition, and fostered a sense of responsibility. Yes, they also supported the second amendment. However, over the years I have watched the organization move from those goals to being primarily a lobbying organization. No longer are they willing to be a part of the solution like they used to be. It has turned so adversarial that, like the rest of the country it can no longer look for solutions but continues to look solely at the second amendment like religious zealots. I don’t like the sense everyone takes that if you don’t agree with the NRA you are a despicable democrat. I knew, and still know many democrats and independents that are members of the NRA. I even have Republican friends who belong to the NRA. But it truly bothers me to see individuals who would support the overthrow of the government wearing clothing with NRA logos on it. So as far as I am concerned it doesn’t surprise me to see Ted resign from the board. I will be surprised to not see more in the near future.

    • Rattlerjake August 6, 2021, 1:58 pm

So by what you stated, you also would not agree with our forefathers who rose up against the tyranny of England when peaceful methods proved worthless. Considering that La Pierre is a leftist in republican clothing, like you, it’s no wonder why it is going bankrupt and failing to support our basic 2nd amendment rights. If you seriously believe that Americans shouldn’t support the second amendment like “religious zealots”, then you obviously don’t believe our rights are important!

      • Gary August 6, 2021, 5:31 pm

When Wayne takes millions of dollars from the NRA for income how can he be trusted ?

    • deanbob August 6, 2021, 4:07 pm

If you are referring to Jan 6, I’d suggest more research and patience as IMHO we’ll see more proof of the FBI’s fingerprints – much as we’ve seen 8 0f the 12 Mich Governor’s kidnappers were FBI informants at a very minimum and they had a significant hand in the plant and organizing of that debacle. Can you say entrapment. You can read about this in Revolver.news (thanks to Darren Beattie who broke the story).

Who stood to lose from the siege? BLANTIFA (antifa and blm)? No. FBI? No. The Democrats? No. Then who? Duh. If the electoral college sent Az, Ga, Pa, Mi, Wi electors back and at least 3 of those 5 LEGISLATURES exercised their US Constitution PLENARY power to select the electors and chose a pro-Trump slate of electors, who would have won (Trump) and who would have lost ( Biden, FBI, DOJ, CIA, etc).

    • Rick August 7, 2021, 1:20 pm

The NRA never supported the 2A. They were the start of the old saying “I support the 2A but” crowd. Take a look back during their start. The president then didn’t support people having handguns back then. They talked Reagan into signing the Hughes Amendment. And even pushed for the bump stock ban. The NRA was there for hunters not 2A supporters.

  • WILLB August 6, 2021, 12:54 pm

Guess the only question now is how many members will follow Ted out the door?

  • Zupglick August 6, 2021, 11:54 am

NRA used to be a Great organization, sponsoring safety classes for young shooters and actually fighting for our 2A Rights. Now it seems to be a money tree, watered by everyday Patriots and harvested by the Big-shot lawyers that have taken it over.
When was the last time anyone saw a Safety class in their area? I haven’t seen one here in 30 years.

    • Rattlerjake August 6, 2021, 2:08 pm

I became a life member in the early eighties, but quit supporting the NRA shortly after La Pierre assumed a leadership role in 1991 after working as a legislative aide to Democratic Virginia delegate Vic Thomas. La Pierre is a leftist in republican clothing! He has single-handedly destroyed the NRA financially, for his own financial gain. The NRA hasn’t engaged in a single worthwhile 2nd amendment case in decades!

    • Sean August 6, 2021, 6:36 pm

I’m not a fan of their current situation, but I took a shotgun instructors safety course last weekend. In liberal Davis ca no less…

Those who think we can make America great again are sadly mistaken. Things will continue to get worse and worse, leading up to the soon coming, Mark of the Beast, which will be the Pope’s Forced Sunday Worship to the Beast, (Catholic church/Vatican).. This will be the battle of Armageddon, Satan vs Jesus, worship on Sunday to a Pagan god, or worship on Saturday sabbath to our Creator God.. Who we then worship and obey will determine our eternal destiny. Life or Death eternal.. The Beast needs complete control of every person on the earth in order to force them to choose before Jesus can return. He cannot control buying and selling of those who refuse to take the Mark, Sunday worship, unless we only have electronic based monetary transactions. Rev. 13:17. Therefore no cash, gold, silver, etc. will be accepted. Only digital money will be used worldwide. What that currency or currencies will be, I do not know..

    • Walt August 7, 2021, 4:51 pm

This seems to be a little off topic. And the writer seems to have let his tin foil hat fall off.

    • Kb31416 October 1, 2021, 7:20 am

Wow. So much anti-Catholic bigotry! The last socially acceptable form of bigotry in America.
      Disgusting.
Oh, and what does that have to do with gun rights or the NRA?

  • Tito August 6, 2021, 10:10 am

Oh so if Ted @72? Years old wants to take some time to enjoy his life, is now a rat , a traitor, and a comic? We all have a right to an opinion and to voice it. Ted and Wayne Pierre, have both spent over two decade’s fighting for the rights we now have. So he chooses nowto step back , my parents are his age is it okay that after all their years they retire and enjoy the time they have left in this mess of a country that the left wing demosocialist regime is ruining every minute of everyday. What are you as an American doing to take up where the older generation is taking off? Why not do the best you can to make AMERICA great again and stand up for the rights you have are here for the future generation. Or do you think that the uncle Joe crow 2.0 and his hooker vp are going to fight like Mr Nugent and Pierre have? I’m out everyday voicing my concerns either by flags in my yard, words I speak by mouth or wear on my chest and back, and also my time dedicated to local PTA, school boards, local elections, and telling those who ask where to go to do these things, we are not all sheep or traitors because after 26 years of service we choose to step down. Enjoy retirement Mr Nugent, and hats off to years of service fighting the good fight GOD BLESS AMERICA. United we stand. Under Biden we fall.

    • jam3116 August 6, 2021, 10:56 am

      Well said!

      • Rattlerjake August 6, 2021, 2:19 pm

Using Nugent and La Pierre in the same sentence is like using Slow Joe and Trump in the same sentence. La Pierre has NEVER supported anything 2nd amendment other than the wealth he has been able to pilfer from the NRA. When is the last time the NRA was actually involved in a 2nd amendment case? They caved to the assault weapons ban, to the bump stock legislation, are not involved in the Mclosky or Rittenhouse cases, or any case against the states who have implemented anti-gun/ anti-2nd amendment laws. Nothing/Nada!!!

        • BluNos August 8, 2021, 4:23 pm

BINGO! Folks we have a winner.

    • Terry August 6, 2021, 8:27 pm

Ted Nugent Is A True Patriot!

      I don’t blame him 1 bit for leaving such a Corrupt Organization…

  • Shawn August 6, 2021, 9:45 am

Yes 26 years and some dems still isn’t happy not even having the house too. Ted you can’t please everyone there are always going to be underwear chewers.

  • Jerry D Webster August 6, 2021, 9:27 am

I am on social security and have very little money for donations of any kind. I struggle to pay my bills every month. I also get mail from the nra on a regular basis. Also high pressure phone calls wanting donations and renewal of my nra membership, which is nowhere close to expiring. Is the nra only for the rich? I love and respect Ted Nugent. He is not afraid to speak his mind and show his love for life. I am 69 years old and own a lot of guns. There are other organisations out there that fight for our gun rights. Maybe its time to have them step up their efforts.

  • Cea August 6, 2021, 9:27 am

I am an NRA life member. I just sent in (in their postage paid envelope) a money begging request, with the statement that they will get no more $$ from me until Wayne and ALL of his cronies are sent packing. I also mentioned that any and all monies that I have for fighting for the 2A now goes to GOA, SAF and several state level pro 2A organizations.
    We’ll see…

    • Udo Walter August 6, 2021, 11:44 am

GOA does far more than the NRA for our gun rights with far less money and no 2000.00 $ Italian suits, private jets etc.etc. paid by members.. “National Rifle Association reportedly paid for private jets to be rerouted through Nebraska to pick up family members of embattled CEO Wayne LaPierre.”

  • Kane August 6, 2021, 9:24 am

So many typical reponses once again. In a recent mailing from SAF founder Alan Gottliieb was talking about SAF and the NRA as two seperate organizations that work together for a common goal. Gottlieb points out that the SAF is NOT a lobby group. Here is a quote below.

“You see, Joe Biden and the anti-gun media are spreading the gun grabbers ‘big lie’ that the NRA, SAF and other pro-gun groups don’t really speak for gun owners. Fake news?

“They are trying to use a divide and conquer strategy along with massive disinformation campaign to confuse Members of Congress, state legislators, law enforcement leaders and other important people even gun owners themselves.”

So what is the answer? Larry Pratt? NO THANKS. Has anyone here checked Pratt’s travel vouchers and perused his books? What are the sources of the accusations hurled at the NRA? Without a doubt the NRA needs to be reformed but how does destroying support help the 2A?

Next time someone writes about the support they are withdrawing, please include the list of the spotless organizations you still support.

Life Member of the NRA, ISRA and SAF and if you want I will look up the membership #’s.

    • Rattlerjake August 6, 2021, 2:28 pm

So why don’t you give us a list of the 2nd amendment cases that the NRA was involved in (from the start, not jumping in when the fight was finished). La Pierre caved to the bump-stock legislation and hasn’t fought against a single state anti-gun law! The NRA is worthless.

      • Kane August 6, 2021, 3:58 pm

Oh yeah I will go through case law history with your added qualification so someone who does NOT bother to list the 2A groups he supports can sit back and scoff.

How about you going through what really happened with Trump, the NRA and bumpstocks. Heres a hint, the NRA advised Trump NOT to use the EO on the bump stocks and instead urged the then POTUS to proceed through the BATFE a branch of the DOJ to review the bump stocks. I contend that the NRA made no further suggestions to Trump then that. The BATFE refused to chanei it’s original determination made first under the BHO admin. Trump was under intense pressure to do something after the Vegas shootings. A politicial like Trump decided that the bump stock was the best couirse.

Tell me, should the NRA have made an enemy of Trump? CHECK YOU SOURCES or recollection, there was no “bump stock legislation” the Dems did NOT want a solution and would NOT support any legislation, Trump pushed through the EO instead and it has NOT held up over time. Prove me wrong and cite the “bump stock legislation” which you claim “La Pierre caved to.”

        As I asked in the OP. {Next time someone writes about the support they are withdrawing, please include the list of the spotless organizations you still support.}

  • Guido August 6, 2021, 9:11 am

I’ve followed Ted Nugent since I was 13 (1969) growing up in Detroit. I saw the Amboy Dukes (Ted’s old band) literally countless times in the music venues around Detroit.
I recall at the time that he would loudly berate and often physically remove patrons from the stage that he loudly proclaimed were “disgustingly drunk” or “drug wasted”.
Honestly, at the time I couldn’t believe he was actually drug and alcohol-free as he frequently stated, because in my young mind I related drugs to coolness, and if Ted were nothing else, he was uber-cool.
Looking back, I would have not wasted many years of my life had I followed his lead. I now realize what a strong and principled man Uncle Ted is. Reportedly, he has never smoked a cigarette, drank a beer, or even drank coffee. I just wish I could look as young as he when I hit 72, with the clarity and vitality of a man 20-30 years younger.
I believe Ted is cutting the cord because he abhors failure and deceit. He has decided he doesn’t want their stink on him any more, nor to have his public image to be used as a magnet to younger shooters.
I believe he signed-on with the noblest intentions, later realizing what a disgusting group of hypocrites they were.
My personal relationship with the NRA ended when they publicly and financially backed the re-election of “Dingy” Harry Reid, the Democrat from Nevada who was the Senate Speaker at the time, a typical vile, lying, DemonRat who was frequently anti-2A.
When I read of armed Vax squads being dispersed in states or soon to be this Country, I can’t help but think of one of Ted’s early songs – “Storm troopers coming, get ready!”
I suspect like many of us should, Ted’s realizing it’s time to get ready.
I believe the NRA was too powerful for Ted to fix, and he sees what’s coming. Storm troopers.

I am 68 and look 90, been a shooter for over 50 yrs. but only a pistol and a semi auto rifle left for defense. Like you I think Ted looks incredible for 72, if I didn’t know better I’d say he were 40. Good habits and good parents.

    • William August 6, 2021, 3:27 pm

I also stopped any and all funding of the NRA when they endorsed Dingy Harry Reid. They called me a couple of times asking for donations and they received an ear full of the harry endorsement and I told them they’d never get another nickel from me. So far I have held up to that statement. If they change then I might change my mind.
I have been a supporter of National Association of Gun Rights from that moment. They have been very consistent in their fight for the 2A. Ted was the only positive I could see at the NRA. I wish him well and thank him for his steadfast fight against tyranny!

    • Terry August 6, 2021, 8:30 pm

I too grew up with Ted and attended several of his Concerts.

      Kick Ass! That’s for sure…

Thank You Ted for trying.. Every time the NRA sends me another letter to beg me to re-up I tell them I will be glad to when LaPierre resigns. Until then I will support the Texas GOA. I’m sure that Ted has become tired of beating that dead horse and trying to get them to actually do something. Their reputation has been irreparably soiled. and they are DOA. Ted is a street fighter and I’m sure they are holding him back. Thanks again Ted. You are a patriot and I hope you will continue our fight from another venue. Godspeed friend.

Count me as a +1 to your stance. I am an NRA member, have been for 25yrs, pay my yearly or 3yr at a time membership dues but, cannot say I believe a single penny has been used to help me or anyone in my state.

I live in California, we have possibly the most restrictive gun laws in the country, again, yes I do pay yearly membership fees but, when I get one of those WEEKLY mailers asking for money I have to just laugh before I toss it in the trash. Every single mailer… “Your gun rights have never been more at risk of being taken away. You can stop Biden, Harris. Obama, etc. by donating…”

Really? In California, the state you turned your backs on 20yrs ago, my “2A rights” are at risk? No they’re no, they’re already 90% gone!!! I do donante to other CALIFORNIA FOCUSED, pro-2A groups and I will continue to be a NRA member (it’s worth the $35/yr to get 10% off at those gun shops that offer a discount for NRA members) but, aside from that, I can’t say I’ve seen anything but, disappointment from the NRA.

In the last VAST sweeping gun control bills that passed, the NRA put up a whole $100,000 to fight it in court. One man, 1.5yrs from retirement from the local gun shop put up $250,000 to fight this in court and was backed by a few others in our county/surrounding counties who donated about another $100,000 on top of that $250,000…again, by one single individual and no, he’s not filthy rich! When learning about this, I lost all faith in the NRA and quite frankly the route their going, I believe in about 5 more years we’re simply going to have another political party in America. You can vote Republican, Democrat or, NRA.

It’s comical as a Californian to see something that basically says “give us more money so you don’t lose the rights you’ve already lost.” The second I start seeing rights returned, I’ll gladly open up that wallet a little more. Until then, sorry, I can’t say I’m 100% on board and I guess we as individuals will just have to keep fighting ourselves.

For those of you that this makes butthurt, no I’m no troll…if you think otherwise, you need to check my mother f—-ing resume! I am a fighter, not a lobbiest and I don’t see Uncle Ted as a lobbiest type individual either.

Ted Nugent will now be able to accomplish more on his own platform than he ever could as a NRA board member IMP&HO.

Something we should all remember…If it wasn’t for the NRA we’d have lost our 2nd Amendment rights many years ago.

BULLSCHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! The NRA hasn’t done squat for decades. The NRA is always silent when the 2nd amendment is at issue! Maybe you don’t remember how La Pierre told Trump that he agreed with the bump-stock legislation. Where was the NRA when Gov (of Commiefornia) Ronnie Raygun passed the Mulford act? Where is the NRA in cases like Rittenhouse and McClosk? If the NRA fights so hard for our 2nd amendment rights then explain how it is that so many states (and cities) currently have so many anti-2nd amendment laws that are being enforced! You’re an ignorant fool!!!

      • Kane August 7, 2021, 11:31 am

As I pointed out in an earlier post that the founder of SAF, Alan Gottlieb, considers the NRA an organization that shares a common value and goal. Before the “Cincinati revolt” there was little organized opposition to the antis in the NRA or anywhere else. Pro 2A people need a lobby group but politicians will always compromise. Don’t believe me, instead you can list the POTUS names in the last 50 years ranked in order strongest pro 2A supporters.

I have no problem with anyone who decides the NRA is too compromised to continue supporting. However, I do have a problem when they offer no other alternative like all of your posts. Maybe they just hope to “divide and conquer.” I do have a problem when all some people do is undermine support for an organization that others still hope can be salvaged. I do have a problem when people seem to be spreading bogus information.

Maybe though, I am part of the problem because I have no idea where you are getting some of the information you are posting. Such as the followimng.

“Maybe you don’t remember how La Pierre told Trump that he agreed with the bump-stock legislation.”

        -Rattlerjake

Um, what legislation? Maybe you are wrong on the basic political facts of the bump stocks and you statement is without any merit. Maybe Trump was a compromise and the bump stocks were of less importance to many Americans then the total selling out of US. Maybe you are happy based on some twisted sense of priciple that Joe Biden can now give the coup de grace to the US.

Or maybe you could trading in bad infomation.

BTW, if you ever make that list of POTUS I will love to see where Trump ranks.

  • hippybiker August 6, 2021, 8:33 am

I gave up on the NRA many years ago after what they did to Neal Knox. Hell! I can remember when Harlan Carter was in charge. Thing’s were 100% different.

  • J Singleton August 6, 2021, 8:26 am

I’ve switched my primary support to GOA. They are fighting for our rights , instead of compromising every time they get a chance . Good for you Ted.

    • John Lucas August 6, 2021, 9:51 am

Time for Wayne to go !!!

    • Give Me Freedom August 7, 2021, 10:17 am

I also support Gun Owners of America as they are getting results. No more money for the National Rifle Association anymore until I see some major changes in that organization. Wayne LaPierre makes $1.2 million a year and they are much less effective in fighting for our 2nd Amendment.

  • Chris Dunn August 6, 2021, 8:18 am

The leadership of NRA have become SWAMP CREATURES!!

  • Zakk August 6, 2021, 7:58 am

He is the only “Uncle Teddy” on the BOD but he’s not the only NUGE!!

  • Paul B August 6, 2021, 7:54 am

Ted will be 73 years old in December, he’s still going to be a strong voice for Hunters and the 2nd amendment….he doesn’t need to be tied to the NRA to do good.

    • Ringo338 August 6, 2021, 9:17 am

Ted’s age is not a factor. Many people ( like Ted) in their 70’s & 80’s are still energetic and mentally sharp while others (like Joe Biden & Nancy Pelosi) are slow and senile.

  • Ronnie August 6, 2021, 7:33 am

Ted will probably get more involved then ever now that he does not have to follow the rules of the N.R.A. that has to be civil and nice.
He is still a member and he is a great speaker.

  • douglas girard August 6, 2021, 7:27 am

Oliver North? a lot of money spent on the raton, new mexico playground that I will never see. About 2000 miles from me.

  • Timothy Smith August 6, 2021, 7:11 am

Join Gun Owners of America !

  • NJ August 6, 2021, 7:09 am

    Ted’s 72. He’d probably like to relax a bit.

  • Russ Burke August 6, 2021, 7:05 am

    God bless Ted Nugent.

  • Paul August 6, 2021, 6:33 am

To me, the NRA has done little to nothing for its members beyond offering hats, coffee mugs, and duffle bags in return for supplying the executives with extraordinary wealth and lifestyles; hidden from its member ranks.
The NRA is a scam, like so many others, and it’s members have been exploited for decades. I’m out.
God help us if this current administration remains in power. The NRA isn’t going to protect anybody if Beto’s boys show up at your door.

    • Rick August 6, 2021, 8:48 am

      Agreed.

      • WILLB August 6, 2021, 9:50 am

But they did buy a lot of private jet.yacht vacations, and $500 ties for Wayne.

      • Billy Boone August 6, 2021, 11:46 am

How much money did they blow sponsoring a race car?

    • NC_Libertarian August 6, 2021, 10:20 am

Hats, coffee mugs, & duffel bags made in China.

    • DELCO August 6, 2021, 10:25 am

      Paul you are a fraud.

    • James August 6, 2021, 12:56 pm

      Hundred percent correct.

  • DAVID MILLER August 6, 2021, 6:33 am

He is a panty pooping draft dodger why do people think he is good for NRA he should fade away like old Hollywood fairy that he is

    • Jerry Jones August 6, 2021, 7:13 am

NOW……Tell Us All about your vast and decorated Combat experiences…..real life not video games

      • MagnumOpUS August 6, 2021, 9:21 am

        Thumbs up!

      • Guido August 6, 2021, 9:27 am

If you knew anything whatsoever about Ted Nugent you would certainly never refer to him as a panty-pooper.
That man is a throwback, he should have been born 200-300 years ago, he’s a savage in the wrong century.

I can’t comment as to his draft status, but if he did in fact avoid the draft, he was in the company of some notable Americans, such as, Cassius Clay, for instance?

Not justifying anybody’s actions, but the fact is, that was less a war than a Military-Industrial Complex exercise. We weren’t there to win, just make bank for some tycoons at taxpayer’s expense.

    • DELCO August 6, 2021, 10:28 am

Seriously? You obviously have ZERO knowledge of what Ted does for Vets, and law enforcement David miller. What do you do instead of sitting on SM and complaining about what other people. In a time when our 2nd rights are under serious attack, for you and others like you to attack probably the most out spoken person on real hun owners behalf shows that you probably go to lunch with Adam schiff.

    • Larry Pecker August 6, 2021, 12:00 pm

      You’re an idiot.

  • graceythecat August 6, 2021, 6:19 am

People need to understand that Ted has served and it is time for more Americans to fill his shoes and step up to the fight!
Fight all communist democrat cult members from the taking of our Constitution and Bill of Rights away from the We The People!

    • Tarheel Realist August 6, 2021, 6:34 am

Nailed it…Uncle Ted isn’t that young buck on the cover of “Scream Dream”.

Colion Noir should step up…with his articulate nature and huge social media following, he’d be the best choice.

  • AL-G August 6, 2021, 6:10 am

    The Feds got to him!

They have something on him and probably made a deal, to include stepping-down or go to jail
    on some “Fake” charge.
Yep, big brother is coming for us (Glad I’m old, I’d hater to be growing up in this “Crumpling country!)

    • Josey August 6, 2021, 9:47 am

      Colin Noir. HUMMMM!!!
Maybe a game changer. I do like the choice. Grant had his show on Newsmax, Dania has hers on First Choice so it could be a great fit.

    • Unfortunate August 6, 2021, 12:04 pm

Step away from the crack pipe.

Seriously, the NRA is going down down by the bow and no one on the Board will want to be associated with LaPierre.

  • Mayhem August 6, 2021, 4:21 am

The NRA has become a feckless organization many years ago. Total mismanagement of funds, expensive and lavish properties and meetings and rarely any help on Gun Legislation or protecting it’s NRA members. LaPierre is worthless and has ran the NRA into the ground. In Oregon where we are fighting for our rights against the liberal machine the NRA is and has been NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. Oregon Firearm Federation and GOA have been the only organizations fighting for our rights. I am a PROUD AMERICAN

    • db August 6, 2021, 6:40 am

The NRA has been nothing more than a grifting operation like many of these so call conservative phony groups. My membership expires in 5 years and not giving them or Trump the traitor any more money. Until people wake up and realize it’s 1 party in DC we will not get our country back. How many 2A supporters stood strong while giving away the rest of their rights and amendments without so much as a peep? America has become the land of dopes and cowards. It won’t be until all is lost that they stand up and fight.

    • Shawn August 6, 2021, 9:41 am

Yeah like the high prices Your Obama Biden put on us and socialism. It is the dems who fight our 2nd dumb is dumb like this one

      • db August 6, 2021, 10:39 am

You are a fool. I voted for the con man, but realized he conned me in his 1st month. This lock down cant happen unless the country is in emergency which was put in by Trump the grifter. If you understood history and marxism you know that dividing people is step 1. It took me 56 years to finally grasp how the game works-this is a game to the elitists. If you could open your eyes, you would realize that the country HAS been socialist for over 100 Years, probably more. When governments control every aspect of EVERYTHING, you are socialized. Unless people come together and join forces vs DC, we wont recover. The 6 feet bs is to keep people from joining together and taking pitch forks to these tyrants. Look up the Green Dragon Tavern and learn before you open your mouth. Look up all the people Trump put in his cabinet and where they worked and were before and now. You and people like you are part of the problem. You think some figurehead that is INSTALLED as President is going to save us. Our ¨government* aka Criminal Organization and cartel, works for the wealthy and the corporations. If you have the guts, go over to Paine.TV or his archives at truepundit.com or Paine in the Morning podcast and read, listen, and learn.

  • MO August 6, 2021, 3:58 am

    He’s a rat leaving a sinking ship.

    • Phillip Gram August 6, 2021, 6:51 am

I don’t believe Ted’s a rat, I do believe the ship is taking on water. But instead of standing and accusing somebody shut your mouth and grab a pail and start bailing! Teds okay but he can see what’s going on with the organization.

  • JB August 3, 2021, 10:01 pm

Weasel words from a man I always thought was a Badger. I expected more from the Nuge.
