<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re wondering what goodies the anti-2A Dems have in store for gun owners this year, look no further than Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s “H.R. 127 Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act.<\/a>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(The full text of the bill is embedded below for your convenience.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a nutshell, it would require the Attorney General, via the ATF, to “establish a system for licensing the possession of firearms or ammunition in the United States, and for the registration with the Bureau of each firearm present in the United States.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Universal registration and licensing, people! If that sounds bad at first blush, trust me, it only gets worse once you check out the details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National Registry <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Let’s start with the national registry that will include every single gun in America. Well, all the guns in the hands of those willing to follow the law. Violent criminals, those responsible for the vast majority of gun murders and shootings, aren’t going to opt-in to the database. We know this because they already disobey the hundreds, if not thousands, of gun laws on the books. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyways, per the bill, each responsible gun owner would have to submit to Big Brother “the make, model, and serial number of the firearm, the identity of the owner of the firearm, the date the firearm was acquired by the owner, and where the firearm is or will be stored,” plus a notice disclosing the name or names of any individual(s) one plans on loaning it to and approximately how long it will be in his or her possession. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Failure to do so results in serious jail time and a hefty fine, we’re talking no less than 15 years in prison and up to $150,000!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\nSheila Jackson Lee back in 2019 talking to the press about another gun-control bill banning ammunition that is \u201c.50-caliber or greater.\u201d It’s evident in the interview that she has no idea what she’s talking about.\n\n\n\n

Licensing System<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

But before one can own a gun or possess ammo, he or she needs to obtain a license. In order to qualify for a license, one must: be 21 years old, pass a background check, undergo an extensive psychological examination, receive 8 hours of gun safety training, and purchase liability insurance at a cost of $800 per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s hard to discern what’s worse, that with a stroke of a pen adults under 21 lose their right to keep and bear arms because they do not meet the arbitrary age requirement, that prospective applicants need to see a government-approved shrink before they can own a gun, or that applicants need to pay the Attorney General $800 per year for insurance!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Insanity! Again, failure to comply would result in at least 15 years behind bars and a fine of up to $150,000!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To top things off the “Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act<\/a>” also bans the possession of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammo and “ammunition that is 0.50 caliber or greater.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Are Its Chances? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Skeptics reading this will likely argue that there’s no way this bill will see the light of day. That it will be DOA — dead. on. arrival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or maybe, this is a sign of what’s coming down the pike. As GunsAmerica reported<\/a> earlier this week, Bloomberg-funded gun-control organizations are demanding action within the first 100 days of the Biden administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given that Bloomberg has spent hundreds of millions of dollars backing Democrats during the 2020 election cycle, including President Biden, on the promise that they’d be “gun sense” candidates<\/a> while holding office, it’s safe to assume that restricting 2A rights will be a top priority. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Right now, the lowest hanging fruit is universal background checks, which would criminalize private sales and transfers. As many of us know, including those in government, universal background checks are an entirely useless endeavor without a national registry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To quote an Obama-era National Institute of Justice Deputy Director<\/a> (emphasis added), the effectiveness of universal background checks depends on the “ability to reduce straw purchasing, requiring gun registration<\/em><\/strong> and an easy gun transfer process.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The way this might play out is a one-two punch. First, Dems in the House and Senate pass universal background checks. Once that’s in place and there’s zero effect on crime rates, the anti-gun lobby will push for Ms. Jackson Lee’s registration and licensing mandate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They’ll call it the “registration loophole” or the “licensing loophole” and argue that because we need a license and insurance to drive a car, and we have to register our cars, it’s only “common sense” that we treat firearms in the same manner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No, it’s not a new argument, not at all. But to the unwashed masses who blithely jumped on the universal background check bandwagon, it’ll be framed as the next logical step to “protecting our children from the gun violence epidemic.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember, public support for universal background checks currently sits above 90 percent<\/a>. If the anti-gun lobby with its Billionaire backer Michael Bloomberg can convince an overwhelming majority of people that they need to visit an FFL and pay a transfer fee every time they want to lend or sell a gun to a hunting buddy or lifelong neighbor or extended family member, then they can probably dupe a wide swath of voters into believing that furnishing Big Brother with a gun owners list is in the best interest of “public safety.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our founding fathers must be rolling over in their graves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
