Sight Swap! Put XS F8 Tritium Night Sights on Your Glock

This week, I got a chance to install XS F8 Night Sights on my Glock 20.  If you’re not familiar with the company XS Sights, they claim to have the “fastest sights in any light.”

These are XS DXT Sights. I have them on my Glock 23.

XS is most famous for their DXT “big dot” sights, which looks like sights from an African Double Rifle scaled to a handgun, with a wide V in the back instead of a notch.  The front dot on the DXT is about three times larger than normal, giving it a very distinctive look.  But it is fast.  It might not make the podium at Camp Perry, but it is aptly suited for close encounters. I know, they have been on my Glock 23 for years.

The XS F8 Sights are lower in profile compared to the DXT sights.  Nevertheless, they are unique.  The front sight features a massive orange ring, perfect for daytime shooting.  Inside that ring is a bright tritium dot, with a smaller tritium dot in the rear.

For night shooting, you stack them like a Figure 8. The notch in the rear is wide, helping you acquire the sights faster from the draw. These are features that are unlikely to help your bullseye score, but they are fantastic for a carry gun. The glow at night is hard to mistake, and the Figure 8 lines up quickly, even in no light.

XS sights install slightly different than most but are still easy to do (Make sure to watch the video!) The rear sight is held by set screws, pre-embedded in the sight block. The sight dovetail is like a pyramid, getting wider at the bottom.

To fit the sights, you slowly file down the height of the rear until it slides into place. Then tighten the set screws. Are they secure? Yep. My “big dots” have countless rounds on them, with no movement. I don’t see why the F8 would be any different.

A nice touch from XS, they put everything you need in the package, including thread locker and a front sight tool. All you really need to get the job done is a bastard file and a punch. Easy day!

Day or night, the F8 sights line up in a flash.

The F8 is a great looking setup, and hard to beat if you are on the hunt for some tritium powered day/night handgun sights. Pricing is around $127 at various online retailers.  Manufacturer MSRP is $142.  The sights come with a 10-year warranty.  I recommend them highly.

When do you think the F8 sight will be available for the CZ 75? I’m 75 and not sure how long I can wait around.

    Thanks!

The first thing to do is change the sights on your glock ! Get rid of the plastic one !

Every gun I own has XS sights. I train for self-defense, not for paper target groupings.

I am a retired law enforcement officer with over 36 years. I will never understand the stupid application of “the gun” being the root of all evil. It is not the gun but the hands upon it. An unarmed populace is are victims. Keep up your work my friends. I am also a member of the NRA.
