The Perfect Birdgun Don Zutz, the late great outdoor writer, remarked on more than one occasion that "if we ever set out to invent the perfect shotgun shell, it would look a lot like the 16 gauge we have today." The 16 gauge is ballistically superior to either the 12 or 20 gauge. It's got a shorter shot string -- like 9 feet vs. 12 or 14 feet for the 12 and 20 gauges. The 16';s pellets are concentrated in a shorter shot string. More pellets inn the target area means more bang for the buck!

The 16 gauge Citori Lightning is built on it's own frame and with the 28" barrels weighs only 6 pounds 11 ounces. That's only a couple ounces more than a 20 gauge Lightning and a pound less that the 12 gauge Lightning. Browning put the perfect shogun shell -- the 16 gauge -- and matched it with a frame size that balances an inch ahead of the hinge pin. A perfect birdgun.

The standard stock dimensions are: 1-1/2" x 2-3/8" x 14-1/4" and these guns are cast neutral. We offer leather-covered English pads to custom LOP lengths and stock bending to cast-off or cast-on frequirements
