Description     Shipping and payments     Additional information
For sale a 14 gauge single barrel percussion shotgun circa 1840. Estate owners family states they were told the shotgun was made in Spartanburg County S.C. prior to the Civil War. There were several documented gunmakers in the area of Glen Springs, Spartanburg Co. S.C. during this time period. I have only anecdotal evidence no written documentation of estates statement. The gun has excellent wood with fine checkered grip, 39 inch barrel, usual pitting near nipple, has brass inlaid star front sight, brass wrap around brass stock plate, brass forendcap, brass trigger guard etc, has half octagonal barrel. Flayderman's Guide classifies this shotgun as Secondary Confederate, has Hendley engreaved on lock. The Ramrod appears to be original.
