From a New England collection comes this distinctive derringer. The original design was the Wheeler Derringer from 19th Century Boston. Manufacturer on this piece was F.I.E. of Miami, ancestor to the current EAA Corp., with German parts and name, probably Rohm of Sontheim Germany. From its P00300 range serial number, and from new production mates we got from FIE 40 years ago, it was manufactured in 1974, the First Year of Production. Type is two shot rotary barrel rimfire single action derringer. Construction is steel barrel liner, hammer, trigger, and internal parts built into a zinc alloy frame and barrel housing. Chambering is .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle interchangably, with recommended standard velocity ammunition. Barrels are 2 1/2 inch 1:16 six groove, with manual extractors engaging via a ejector rod. Ignition is hammer nose type firing pin, one shot and then manual rotation of the barrels for the second shot. This is not a quality pistol, but it is an attractive descendant of the original Wheeler. Surface wear on this specimen is moderate to extensive, principally finish weakness from carrying it. We rate it as Good, 65 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We do not believe it has been fired more than 50 times. We test fired 4 rounds of CCI ammunition with no problems.
