The Associated Press is reporting that president Joe Biden is going to pull the nomination of David Chipman for Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Chipman was picked specifically because he is a dogged advocate for tougher gun laws. Chipman, a former ATF agent, currently serves as the senior policy advisor for the anti-gun organization Giffords.
Apart from maybe Shannon Watts and Michael Bloomberg, the Biden Administration couldn’t have selected a more anti-gun prospect for the position.
Letting Chipman run the ATF would be putting the proverbial fox in charge of the hen house.
Details as to why the Biden administration is now nixing his nomination have yet to come to light. But to say that Chipman was a flawed candidate would be an understatement.
Apart from fierce resistance from pro-gun GOP lawmakers, Chipman insulted gun owners, refused to define the term “assault weapons during a Senate committee hearing,” allegedly said racist remarks about coworkers, and may have even lost his duty gun while working for the agency.
Alan Gottlieb, the founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, celebrated the news, crediting gun owners for getting involved to stop Chipman’s ascent.
“I want to thank every gun owner and concerned voter who contacted their Senators and helped us stop this dangerous nominee from being confirmed,” said Gottlieb in an email to GunsAmerica. This is a great grassroots victory for the Second Amendment. Gun rights lobby: 1, Biden gun ban lobby: 0!”
On the other side of the gun divide, Ms. Watts was clearly disappointed.

Another example of Biden’s lack of executive experience. It’s why his presidency is a clown show. Great presidents don’t always make great appointments or nominations, but they know when to cut bait. Biden waited way too long to pitch Chipman’s nomination. All the political damage has already been done and neither side, left or right is happy with Biden over it.

Biden’s grousing was to be expected, but opposition to Chipman was not party specific. Licensed gun dealers have law abiding individuals as their customers. Criminals, by definition of their “profession”, do not acquire guns legally from licensed dealers. But Biden and Chipman, et al., want to make it more difficult for non-criminals to buy guns. Go figure!

Enjoy the victory for now. The next nominee won’t be any less willing to make adjustments to gun violence policy than was David Chipman. The so-called swamp is filled with potential public servants willing to champion the cause of common sense solutions to the gun violence crisis in our American streets.

As a general rule, I usually ignore Pinko Dog’s (tyranny/granny) drivel, but this one is too comical. Firstly, I’d like for “it” to produce some “violent guns”. Aside from my own, I suppose I’ve handled thousands, but have yet to see a “violent” one… or one that’s in a “crisis”! They just lie there contentedly until manipulated by an outside force. I have however, seen quite a few “violent” PEOPLE and am pretty sure some of them were either in a “crisis”, or doing their best to create one. With regard to the “so-called” swamp, perhaps (tyranny/granny) can go drain it for us… (well armed with a social worker of course).
