Don’t Try This At Home! Warbird Body Armor Put to the Test — NRA 2024

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

No doubt the craziest person we met at NRAAM 2024 was Matt, the owner of Warbird Body Armor. Warbird stands out because it sells body armor to civilians, which many companies hesitate to do.

In talking with Matt, he emphasized the right of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families.

Body armor is often debated, but Matt believes it’s crucial for civilian defense. To that extent, Matt shared with us that Warbird’s armor has saved lives over the years.

Of course, none of that is what makes him crazy. What does?

Well, just before the show, in a bold demonstration, Matt shot himself with a .44 Magnum while wearing Warbird’s level 3A vest! WOW!

The impact left significant bruising but didn’t penetrate the vest (thank goodness), proving its effectiveness.

The main takeaway from the demo was obvious, as True correctly stated, “This will save your life, but don’t go shoot yourself.”

Warbird’s body armor, including the Sky Flex Level II, is thin, flexible, and comfortable. It can be worn under a t-shirt or suit jacket without being noticeable.

Prices range from $200 to $1,100, with options like the Sky Flex for everyday wear and the Hostile Environment series for home defense.

Warbird’s commitment to quality and safety stems from a legacy. Matt’s father, Richard Davis, invented the modern soft bulletproof vest in 1971.

To prove its effectiveness, Richard also shot himself while wearing it, convincing law enforcement of its value. This legacy continues with Matt’s dedication to producing reliable body armor. It really works!

I wouldn’t want to shoot myself in the chest wearing a vest at point blank range. That must have hurt like MF. Lucky he didn’t break any ribs or his sternum. I’m sure there’s a better way to show the vest’s effectiveness than shooting one’s self in the vest.

    Crazy and very foolish.
