Everytown for Gun Safety is claiming this week that its supporters came out in droves to support the ATF’s proposed rule seeking to ban 80 percent receivers and firearms kits, what they pejoratively call “Ghost Guns.”
The Bloomberg-funded organization says that its activists accounted for nearly one-third of the total comments turned in, approximately 100,000, during the 90-day submission period that ran until August 19th.
“Untraceable, unserialized ghost guns are one of the fastest growing threats to public safety, full stop,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety in a press release obtained by GunsAmerica.
“We look forward to the Biden-Harris Administration swiftly finalizing this rule, which has strong support from both law enforcement and gun safety volunteers, as demonstrated by our successful comment drive,” he continued.
Everytown spurred its followers to take action via a “Help stop ghost guns,” text message campaign:
“Unserialized, untraceable ghost guns that don’t require background checks are one of the fastest growing threats to public safety,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action.

“Thankfully, the Biden-Harris administration has proposed strong regulations to end the proliferation of these dangerous firearms and we’re proud to see such broad, widespread support from all those who care about our public safety in support of finalizing and implementing this rule,” added Watts.
Now that the comment period has closed the ATF will review and publish the relevant comments before unveiling the final rule.
Assuming Biden’s ATF proceeds with the ban, it will set a rollout date. In those intervening months before it takes effect, pro-gun organizations may file lawsuits in an attempt to block the ban.

Has anyone else read the article about a group of nuns who are buying S$W stock and Ruger stock? Then they go to board meetings and want the company to pay for the actions of gang members and criminals and to restrict firearms.
Okay, so where are they getting this money from to purchase up enough stock to force stock holders to vote on their proposals? Is Michael Bloomberg or George Soros funding their operation and giving them money?

After the comment period ended I went back and read a number of them. About 85-90% of the ones that I read were against the rule change. The ones that I found that were for it were all written the same or similar and signed with a name and address. I used Google Earth to look up a couple of addresses, and oddly enough they all went to various shacks, sheds or whatnot in the middle of nowhere. I’m not buying Everytown’s talking point.

I believe your numbers may be off on a few items. The dollar amount most often used by the press (for what little that is worth) is $86B, not 80. While $6 billion may be insignificant to congress, it would make a big difference in my retirement plans. Per an interview with openthebooks.com: 350,000 M4s and M16s, 60,000 machine guns (i.e. M2 and m240), 25,000 grenade launchers (presumably mostly 203s), and 2,500 mortars and howitzers. I can see the Mexican cartels importing a lot of these along with the heroin.

When this was written, you had a bunch of politiician who wanted to stop bootleggers and bank robbers during the Depression.
Did this law stop them? Of course not. What stopped the bootleggers and bank robbers was they either got shot or were arrested and served long prison terms.
There is no reason why rifles should have 16″ barrel requirements. Before 1934, many “trapper” models were sold with 12″, 14″ and 15″ barrels. So why is a 16″ barrel okay on a rifle, but a 15″ isn’t?
Remove suppressors from the act too. The only reason why suppressors were put on there was because some joker with the fish & game department had a friend who was a senator and he wanted to stop poaching.
Remember that this was in the Depression and people were starving and had to get food to feed their families. They didn’t have any extra money to purchase sound suppressors.

The 1934 National Firearms Act was the first federal legislation directed at and for the purpose of limiting or directly ‘infringing’ the personal, individual right to bear arms. It is notable that the weapons described therein were of the very same type as those in possession of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker when they were killed, as well as those possessed and used by other criminals of the time. As far as I know, not ONE murder was committed with an 80% gun, rifle or handgun. Obviously I could be mistaken, however if there were any, I’d imagine we’d know about it immediately due to our liberal Mockingbird media gluttonously spewing that information. So no, 80% firearms are NOT a “problem”.
What I do not understand is, I thought that the Constitution says that We The People, are entitled to the same style weapon as the military. Then why is the military allowed full auto weapons and missiles etc. when the government says we are not competent to own weapons, with mags and full auto’s, etc, But their own President can arm terrorist, with billions of $$ worth of military hardware/arms. My neighbor built one and I can tell you he’s a good handyman type that can do almost anything, install a furnace, AC fixes his own car, does all kinds of handyman projects in the neighborhood and he had quite a bit of trouble making his ghost gun. These people are full of shit as usual !

I’ve listened to reporters on TV saying it’s so easy to build a firearm. One gun banning group said a person can build a 80% receiver in less time than it takes to fill your car up with gas. What nonsense. How would they know this? Have they tried it?

Now they want more background checks, waiting periods ( some call for a 30 or even a 60 day waiting period), band on semi auto rifles — rifles are used in only 400 shootings a year, hands and feet kill something like 1,700 to 2,000 a year.
Cars kill over 50,000 a year.
Illegal drugs kill between 75,000 to 100,000 a year.

Why is it that back in the 1950’s, one could walk into a hardware store,. gun show, or mail order all kinds of guns with no background checks or waiting periods, and crime was much lower than today. I wrote that to one of the politiician in my state and his reply was they need more gun control.

It does not require a “machine shop”. A descent router, a drill and some time and attention to detail is all that is needed for 80% ARs. A drill, utility knife, and some files for 80% Glock clones. To me the 80% Glock clones are actually more difficult with the 80% AR jigs that are available. For a homemade shotgun, you just need a drill.
Even if it did require a machine shop, wouldn’t matter to the liberal democrat socialist communist marxist fascist, they want all guns registered. Because after registration comes legislation, after legislation comes confiscation.

I saw some of those comments. I think most were not actually different people as the comments were identical, with a different name. What’s more, at least one that I saw was from someone outside the US. You guys didn’t really believe the communists wouldn’t cheat, did you?
Once the ATF analyzes all of those comments that 100,000 will be reduced to about 10 because almost all of them were produced by a bot. There are reports that a lot of comments were posted in the last few hours that were extremely similar with only minor variations in wording between them.

Instead, they will double the number and discount 99% of the comments opposing the ban.
