Stopping by the Pulsar Booth during SHOT Show 2024, Ivan took me through the features of the brand new Pulsar Merger Duo NXP50 thermal binoculars. The Merger Duo NXP50 is not just any binocular; it combines thermal and digital night vision in a single sleek multispectrum device.
Ivan highlighted the key specifications of the binoculars.
“So, on your thermal channel, you’ve got a 3-24 magnification. And on the digital night vision channel, you have a 1.5-12 magnification. You’ve got a 17 µm 640 sensor on the thermal side and a 1960×1280 resolution on the digital night vision side. It does all your other features like audio-video recording, all that good stuff,” he said.
Another additional feature he mentioned was that it comes with a small IR illuminator that can mount to the bottom of the housing. The provides additional IR light for using the digital image at night.

When asked about the battery-saving features, Ivan stated that “When these are not at your eye, it will go into a sleep mode. Whenever you pull them up, it will reactivate, and you’ve got all your field of view. But whenever it’s down at your chest, it’s in a kind of an auto-save mode. So it will save you on some battery to help you last longer through the night.”
Trying this out, I noticed that the quick power-up feature took about a second to power back up. It was super quick, and it was a feature that I wasn’t expecting but quite happy to see.
As for availability, Ivan mentioned, that the Pulsar Merger Duo NXP50’s will be available this month after the SHOT Show. Retail on them is going to be about $6,000.
They also said that they will be shipping to dealers pretty quickly after the show. Additionally, these binoculars now come with an extended 5-year warranty, up from the initial 3 years.
Notably, the warranty is transferable if the device is sold or bought used. Any purchase made after January 1, 2024, including optics with a serial number from 2023 are covered, ensuring customers get the newest standard of care.
