Sightmark introduced two new pistol-mounted red dot sights at SHOT Show 2023. They are calling them the M-Spec M2 and M3 Solar red dot sights.
These closed emitter optics should provide a large advantage over open reflex sights by guarding the emitter against dust and debris.
- Reticle type: 3 MOA
- Reticle color: Red
- Brightness settings: Auto
- Body Material: 6061-T6 aluminum
- Maximum Caliber: 45 ACP
- IP Rating: IP67 – waterproof to 1m/3ft for 1 hour
- Mount Type: Weaver/Picatinny
- Battery Type: CR1632
- Battery Life (hours): 20,000 on middle brightness
- Operating Temperature (°F/°C): – 22 to 122 / -30 to 50
The M2 mounts on Weaver and Picatinny rails, and it fits pistols with the RMR® footprint, while the M3 mounts on Weaver and Picatinny rails, and it fits pistols with the RMS-C® footprint. The M2 and M3 housings vary in length and shape, but otherwise, these two options have the same specifications.
These optics both run on a single CR1632 battery which is side loaded and has a 20,000-hour battery life when set to the middle brightness setting.
Featuring an “Eclipse Light Management System,” these Mini Shot M-Spec optics have no manual brightness adjustments and are completely managed by a single forward-facing onboard sensor.
Both have a crisp 3-MOA dot with a wide field of view and clear glass. They also sit fairly low on the slide of a pistol so some factory iron sights may still be used.
The optics come with a single mounting plate and a pile of different screws to fit most slide cuts or optic plates on the market.
Both the Sightmark Mini Shot M-Spec M2 and M3 variants have an MSRP of $299 and are shipping now.
I am happy to see another company taking note of consumer demands by adding more closed-emitter red dot sights to the market. This also features solar charging which is a great addition for increased versatility.
