The following video comes from investigative journalist Andy Ngo who is covering the scene out in Portland.
Here is what he had to say about the footage:
On the 87th day of violent protests in Portland, antifa met a large group of right-wingers in downtown during a pro-police rally. The demonstrations devolved into a riot where there were large brawls and fights, mostly between the Proud Boys and antifa. Later on, antifa mobs sought out smaller right-wingers that were separated to try and beat them up.
We’re told by our talking heads in the media that protests happening in and around major cities are “mostly peaceful.” What do they mean by that exactly?
To quote Joe Rogan, I guess they mean “mostly peaceful” much in the same way OJ Simpson was “mostly peaceful” on June 12, 1994.
The looting, the rioting, and the shooting continues with little to no intervention from law enforcement because police have largely gone into self-preservation mode.
Check out this statement from the Portland Police:
Portland police are essentially saying that, because people have been protesting the police for months, officers will no longer intervene in assaults on the public in broad daylight? pic.twitter.com/huxzPcXbRL— Alex Zielinski (@alex_zee) August 23, 2020
Whether you believe law enforcement is shirking their duty to protect and serve the public or whether you believe the boys in blue are justified for pulling back because of the “defund the police” activism and the violence directed their way doesn’t change the bottom line. City residents are more on their own today than at any time in recent memory.
We keep saying it here on GunsAmerica, mostly preaching to our faithful choir, but if you haven’t already, you have to learn to protect and defend yourself and your family. YOU are ultimately responsible for your safety — not government.
Prepare and train like your life depends on it. Because there is no guarantee that the lawlessness we’re witnessing in the streets of Portland and elsewhere won’t come to a town near you!
