The Marlin-Glenfield Model 30A
Introducing the Marlin Glenfield Model 30A, a legendary lever-action rifle that exhibits history, craftsmanship in manufacturing, quality in appearance and superior accuracy. Marlin has established a place in American firearm history with production of firearms since 1870. The Marlin-Glenfield rifle that is sold here is a tangible testimony of the Marlin-Glenfield “brand-name” heritage that was initiated in 1960. As I understand the Marlin-Glenfield history, these firearms were sold at the former Montgomery-Ward stores from ca. 1960-1983. The Marlin-Glenfield were manufactured at the Marlin factory. All metal components are the same as the Marlin firearms and their barrels are proof marked “JM” in the same manner as the Marlin guns. The Marlin-Glenfield Model 30A rifles were a lesser cost version of the Marlin Model 30 since they had hardwood stocks instead of the American walnut stocks. The Marlin Micro-Groove barrel was a faster-rate, and lesser-cost manufacturing technique that replaced the cut-rifling technique that Marlin had used from the 1870s to ca. 1940s. Nevertheless, the micro-groove barrel produces precise and consistent accuracy, whether you are target shooting, hunting or protecting your family. Finally, this lever-action firearm is a nostalgic touch of the Wild West which can continued to be used in the field or displayed by the collector for decades into the future.
This specific Marlin-Glenfield Model 30A is in overall excellent condition. The wood exhibits the original sheen and finish with only a noticeable nick of the finish on the bottom-underside of the stock. Factory Bluing of the metal components is original and consistent across all metal surfaces. The “JM” proof stamp is visible at the barrel/receiver joint. A hammer extension has been added to the hammer and the 4 scope mount screws are missing, indicating that this rifle formerly had a scope mount and scope. The Micro-Groove lands and grooves are bright and shiny. Overall, this legendary lever-action rifle has been lightly used by the previous owner(s) and is considered to be in excellent condition, especially when compared to the other Marlin-Glenfield and Marlin Model 30 rifles that are advertised on ************************************************************* must be received by JSA FIREARMS within 7 calender days after the Purchase Date.
