Very good condition Italian Carcano Model 1891 (M91) Cavalry Carbine (caliber: 6.5 mm) serial no. M281 (dated 1936) chambered in caliber 6.5x52 Carcano. This excellent Carcano is marked "Gardone V. T. " and "Crown R. E." signifying production for the Italian Army under the Fascist Government.
Has a very good bore with sharp rifling, a folding integral bayonet, early-style adjustable sights, and excellent original finish on both metal and wood.
The action works well, No import marks. The wood is good and looks like it's taken some scarring and been repaired. Metal overall is very good with no rust. No cleaning rod in the butt.
Adopted in 1893, the M91 Carcano Cavalry Carbine was the smaller variant of the standard-issue 1891 infantry rifle. This model was much shorter and lighter than the original, which made it more maneuverable on the battlefield, particularly for light cavalry units. This model also featured the spike bayonet, which gave cavalrymen an additional back-up if they were not using their sabers.
