A Palestinian asylum seeker from Jordan has been arrested in Houston, Texas, in a significant federal operation, as confirmed by law enforcement sources to KHOU 11.
The 20-year-old, Sohaib Abu Yash, now awaits his appearance in federal court next week.
Federal complaints reveal Abu Yash’s charges: possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Investigations have unearthed his alleged affiliations with radical groups, and evidence suggests he underwent weapon training for a possible attack.
Abu Yash entered the U.S. in 2016 on a tourist visa, exited, and re-entered from the Middle East in 2019.
He later overstayed his visa and subsequently applied for asylum.

The FBI flagged Abu Yash this summer. Videos on his TikTok and Instagram, showing him firing rifles and handguns, became the focus.
The clips led agents to two Houston gun ranges.
Employees at these ranges then assisted authorities in tying Abu Yash to purchase records and surveillance footage mirroring his online posts.
Although Abu Yash claimed on TikTok that the weapons were airsoft guns, investigations confirmed them as real firearms.
The FBI spokesperson, Connor Hagen, affirmed the arrest took place last Thursday, following a court-sanctioned operation. Further inquiries were directed to the U.S. attorney’s office in Houston.
