The Winchester Model 88 was unlike any previously manufactured lever-action. It's design is essentially a lever-bolt action hybrid. A short-throw lever operated a three-lug rotating bolt, rounds were fed vertically from a detachable box magazine. This "bolt-action" feature in a "lever-action" allowed for the use of high-powered modern short-case cartridges with spitzer bullets. The Model 88 is the third largest selling lever action rifle in Winchester's production history. It has accumulated a large share of devoted enthusiasts for many generations and is still an exceptionally unique and reliable design even to this day. This Pre-64 Winchester Model 88 Lever-Action is used and is in good condition. There are signs of wear on the finish on the metal and the stock, but the rifle is clean. There are a few light indents and scratches on stock and metal. The gun features a Lyman All-American Scope with signs of wear from use and a Winchester sling.
