This is the ultimate African stopping rifle. The 500 A-Square load is designed to handle 600 and 700gr bullets, and attains 2,450 fps with a 600gr Barnes Original. See cartridge compared to a 308 in photo. Unlike some of the Nitro and other large African cartridges, this one is easy and inexpensive to obtain ammunition for. The 500 A-Square is a 460 Weatherby necked up to accept a .510 bullet.
I bought this for very large African game. I have resigned my self to not hunting elephant, and I have a number of other large-caliber safari rifles for Cape Buffalo, Hippo, and the like. It is unfired.
This rifle will come with an extra McMillan synthetic stock ($900), 100 new A-Square cases in wallets of 10, 100 Barnes 600gr bullets ($1,100 in ammo at Midway prices), a Leupold 2X EER scope ($300), and a new set of custom dies from Huntington ($259).
